Still pretty early days in Stoke, all thing's being equal things will get better.
And at the end of the day, nothings set in stone. If in 6 months a year you want to move onto something else than it's been a great years experience/ for the CV.

In Response to Re: The ramblings of a young man (gazza127 diary) : Haha, standard. I usually encourage peeps when they are having a rough time, but I read your 'adios' comment and knew youd ship a qqq tournie within a few days. Hows things in work man? Any better? Posted by TeddyBloat
Work is work. You know... they pay me to be there, so ultimately i cant complain too much.
What I can say is that it is ultimately stopping me doing things outside of work (purely of where i am and shift patterns). Im going to stick it out til the summer (as per the original plan) and reassess then. Although I dont see myself being here more than a year or two - but we shall see!
Well since I last decided to write in here, quite a lot has changed in my life (again) and I made a huge decision, which I'll get to after I talk a tiny bit about pokerz.
UKOPS was awful - got really down about it. Couldnt get any momentum in any of the events and was running pretty terribly. The bromleys can attest to that. I thought I was going to salvage my week on the last day as I was 2/60ish in the main event. Then KK<AA, AQ<AQ and AQ<22 crushed my hopes and I ended up not even cashing. Didn't cope with the week too well. Suppose I was so anxious to get a decent result, that when I didn't I just found myself getting increasingly frustrated.
Meh. I've had some OK results since including a $2.5k 4th place on another site last night. There was $9k up top but I couldn't get momentum going on the final table. With 20minute blind levels we were 5 handed for about two and a half hours. Bit of a sigh that, but considering I late regged the event on a whim i'm quite happy with the score.
OK, back to the big news I referred to earlier. As some of you will know I moved up to Stoke in the Summer, having accepted a job from Bet365 on the Soccer Desk. The jobs OK - Long hours and rubbish rotas - but in general its OK and even at times enjoyable. I've certainly learnt a great deal since ive been here. The real problem in my mind is the place. Stoke isnt the most thrilling place in the world, and ive found it hard to settle.
So when an opportunity came to move to the South of Spain, and work in Gibraltar arose, I decided to take it. The job is exactly the same but in a sunny climate. That and an unexpected substantial pay rise was enough to convince me it was a good decision. I fly out the 1st of December, which means that my time on Sky (and indeed a variety of other sites) may be coming to an end.
I'm going to have to find a new place to play poker.
Am I allowed to register? - Which countries are allowed? We accept customers based in any of the following countries: United Kingdom Channel Islands Ireland Finl and. Gibraltar!!!! Due to our products/services being prohibited and/or restricted by local laws we do not currently accept new accounts from any other countries. Was this answer helpful? Yes Posted by Chris_Mc
Cheers guys. Can't wait to pick up my Spanish again.
This would be good Chris, but im technically living in Spain and commuting to Gibraltar.... so unless I find an internet cafe...
Wow... imagine doing a grind at an internet cafe. Think id rather poke my eyes out.
Well I'm sat in the taxi on the way to the airport to start my life in Spain. Having a few 'what the hell are doing' thoughts but I know they'll disappear when I get there.
Bit of a panic when I was sat outside my flat with all my stuff at 4 am. Sat waiting for the taxi when I look down at my confirmation page and realise that the company booked my taxi for the 14th for some unknown reason! Maybe it was a test of my awareness! Who knows? Phoned the taxi place and there were no issues. Just running a tad late now.
Thought I'd try to sleep in the taxi but the driver seems to be a fan of rock in the morning. Oh well.
Last night on sky didn't go as planned (probably for the best as I needed to pack). I bricked the 3 tournaments I entered and got called a massive fish by a guy on one table which was nice!
Oh well. I'll be back one day no doubt. But for now, that's me done for skypoker. Nervous and excited for the journey ahead. I just need to find a Spanish poker site for when I can't be bothered to go to the beach .
Well I was back in blighty for a couple of nights over Christmas. I'm now sitting in a pub in a sunny Gibraltar which is quite the contrast from the freezing temperatures in england.
I only played the one night on sky and was pleasantly surprised to see a UKOPS running. Maybe I would have played a little more if I had realised it was on. The rebuy went well. I did have Callmemaybe in position on me for the vast majority of the tournament but I hit a few nice spots and was able to spin up a decent stack. My tournament came down to two flips right near the end, sadly I didn't win either which put me out in 7th. Still, a nice little score after Christmas and one that will surely seal my star on sharkscope .
Hope everyone had a nice Christmas and has a good new year.
P.s. said hello to hyyfrdferddferrrd on the table the other day and he didn't reply. How rude!
On my biggest ever downswing on cash. Its brutal. Sets over sets. Flushes over flushes. Quads over nut FHs. Straights over straights. Straight flushes rivering nut flushes. Countless amounts of runner runners and of course all your standard AK<AA KK<AA AA<KK AA<AK all in pre nonsense. Im not trying to moan. Its just how it is. It really is that brutal. Im not even tilting. Im just completely numb to it. I'd be holding the second nuts and just know he has the nuts, but I know itd be a massive losing play long term if i folded just in case he had two very specific cards. Its just recently they have it. Every. Single. Time. Confidence isnt gone. Its obliterated. So's my bank roll on the other site. Im expecting someone to say 'Thats poker... its just variance'. Well yes but I don't give a fig right now. I just want to win one bloody hand. Posted by gazza127
In Response to Re: The ramblings of a young man (gazza127 diary) : Pity this diary ended. Was a good moan thread. Nice to see you back Updates please Posted by Jac35
Updates? Phwoar, how do I do an update for the last 2 years? Thats a lot of moaning to catch up on!
Poker-wise since ive last updated: i've rather dropped off the online scene with the odd day here and there where I load up a tournament or two and play. I have however been to a few places for some live poker. I've been to Marbella a few times (down the road from me), to both EPT events over the last 2 years. I also went to the EPT festival in Barcelona and Prague. All with very minimal success. Tournaments = bad. Cash = good. Down a little on the live scene over the last 2 years but probably to be expected playing high buy-in live events with the variance of associated with MTT poker.
Work-wise: Still in Gibraltar at the same company. Im now an In-Play Trader, which means i trade everything from Beach Volleyball to top level Soccer in play. Enjoying it. My position in the company has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride this last two years but all good now. Would have to write a 10,000 word essay to explain it all so will spare you.
Just enjoying the weather, the beaches and even went and got myself a Gibraltarian girlfriend.

The world has a way of making me look like a moron.
Variance swung the other way and I won 9pm
