Fawlty towers and Mrs Brown's Boys are good shouts!
"I'm Alan Partridge" seems to be popular, but I've personally always found him annoying. Possibly because I had him on the TV for like 6 hours straight when I was on holiday in Switzerland once - yep, they had some type of Alan Partridge marathon in Switzerland for some reason ..
I'm pretty sure Malcolm didn't want his diary turned into a 'what is the best sitcom' thread, but seeing as it has been started:
Seinfeld at its best, was fantastic. Frasier was consistently funny and clever, until about Season Five. Only Fools and Horses is the best British sitcom.
...not strictly sitcoms, but Curb Your Enthusiasm, New Girl, and The Middle are three of the best comedy shows of the last decade.
And yes, Malcolm, Six Feet Under is great. Jac - pick it up.
Not entirely sure what happened last night. Had a few friends over, the beer was flowing. Along with various other beverages. No idea when they left, as my next memory is waking up on the sofa just before I threw up. Classy.
I've also bent the clothes horse.
Watched City down the local, couldn't face a beer so stuck to coffee and coke. Not that coke! Another good performance, think the scoreline flatters Swansea a bit but they gave us a decent game. That Bony is a useful player, cracking 2nd goal by him, Vinny had his hands full with him all afternoon. Hopefully the whole 'City are poor away from home' stuff shall soon be put to bed. Our recent away form is actually pretty good, it's just those few early blips at places like Cardiff and Villa that seem to stick in the memory more than winning all 3 Champions League away games, for example.
Onto the pokers. Favourite main of the week tonight. One I've been lucky enough to win previously. Had a ridiculous 4 week period around August/September in this tournament. 4 consecutive final table finishes including that outright victory and a 2nd after Bolly580 owned me HU. Hopefully have a good run tonight, shall be jackpot hunting as well.
I'm not one to really set goals, but there are a few things I'd like to happen this year. Managed to get as high as 19th on the SS leaderboard for profit on Sky last year, before completely falling off it. So would be nice to get on it again and stay on it this time. And also this new main and mini leaderboard thing that has been concocted on the forum, would be nice to get on that and give the tournament big hitters a run for their money.
Could go on about this whole PS4 thing.....shame people can't be more appreciative. Sky don't have to do this, or any promo. As TommyD has said, perhaps it could've been a bit clearer for the Priority peeps, but by excluding them it gives a whole bunch of people the chance to win a new console. Whats not to like? Quite a lot, according to some people on here. They know who they are! How can people complain about being given the opportunity to win a PS4? Sigh.
Swerving the main and mini tonight. Not a huge fan of the BH main events. Glad to see the Primo making a return in favour of the Saturday night BH, but as I said in that thread it makes a weekend pretty expensive MTT wise; £55 Primo, £110 Roller, chuck in the 2 mini events and its a £180+ outlay. Can't be bricking too many of these...
Might dabble on the MC tables whilst watching the show and playing the odd MTT.

Touched upon it in the opening post....travel. I absolutely love it, and am pretty fortunate to have visited quite a few countries. I went backpacking for a few months back in 2010. Had an amazing time, but had to cut it short as I ran out of money. I am going somewhere with this btw! So yeah, had to scrap most of SE Asia and fly home. This has kinda knawed away at me ever since. I'm now in a position (since splitting with the gf last year), that I don't really have anything keeping me here. I have a job I dislike, I don't have a mortgage or kids or anything like that. And thanks to poker I have a nice sum of money tucked away that could pretty much fund a new adventure. I've been looking at one way flights and have found the one for me that fits, in September. Now my question for you faceless people of the internet, is this pretty wreckless walking away from full time employment and a flatshare (well, he owns it, I rent the spare bedroom from my mate), at what will be the age of 27 and 1/2, to go and backpack round parts of Asia? For maybe 5/6 months, and then come back to nothing basically.
Kinda rambling here so apologies! Just feel it's quite a dilemma. Part of me thinks 'just go for it, have an amazing time, and worry about other stuff on return', but the other part is leaning towards the 'get a grip' mentality. I'd be 28 on return, with little to no money behind me, unemployed, probably have to move back home for a while, and all for what? A few months living out of a backpack. I'm getting old
Any thoughts are welcome and appreciated. Not sure what I hope people say tbh....
Regrets are just things you havent done yet, innit. Coming back to no job is just forcing you to find a job you actually enjoy. You have no responsibilties, a family that will support you, and are in your 20's with money to spew. The milkybars are on you, harry. Do it imo. Posted by TeddyBloat
Thanks for the input fellas. Food for thought indeed....
Drive on the tellybox right now, great film. Also have a soft spot for Carey Mulligan. Watch 'Shame' if you also have that same soft spot Proving a very pleasant distraction from various chores I should be getting done.
Bonus weekend off. City early K/O away at Blackburn in the cup. Should be a decent game. Drinking from half 12, when I'm supposed to be going out tomorrow night, could be a recipe for disaster. Thankfully I'm a nice drunk probably nicer drunk than when I'm sober!
Not much time for pokers this weekend. Only made the cash WW freebie thing (though I'm slightly dubious about this). Shame they will be paying out the top 3,778 spots by the looks of things, would much prefer a top heavy structure, but that UKPC seat makes it worth taking semi seriously. Undecided about the Roller on Sunday; hangover will dictate much of what I do, if anything, on Sunday.
Just the 3 dtd games for me tonight. Ran like Jesus in one of them, the other 2 were less kind. Special mention to a recent UKPC seat winner for dishing out some filthy beats
Cruised into the money in dtd1. Was chip leader for most of it. Think I had 5x the average stack at one point. Did an ill timed bluff just after the bubble burst that put me back to 3rd, but nothing too desperate.
Then picked up AK spades in the BB, SB had AK diamonds, almost even stacks. It all goes in pre for a 60bb pot. To say I was outflopped is an understatement... 3 diamonds on the flop, GG! As a final rubdown, my bowl of a stack goes in next hand with 99, only to find AKd guy has 1010. GG again!
Funny old game eh, literally cruising into the money and beyond. Then one mistake by me, followed by a cold deck slapping me right in my chops, and it's a one way taxi to a min cash. But the dtd games ain't about the money, always good banter at the tables playing with like minded people. Plus I had Larson7 in my back pocket, bless him
Looks like I'm sorted for Barcelona. Gone completely against the advice of Tikay and got a hotel (or hotels even) near Las Ramblas. Sorry Teeks! Also spending 2 nights in Lloret De Mar, making a mini holiday out of it. Something to look forward to in amongst the usual January doom and gloom.
Could be worse though, I could be a United fan....
Ul in DTD 1 mate. I crashed just after you. all in pre AJ suited no match for 1010 on a 1010x flop lol. Man U used to be the goliath of English football. Then along came David..... Posted by cenachav
Looks like we were both emphatically outflopped! We'll get our revenge next week
Just read that Gus Hansen is $8m in the hole for 2013, and down almost $15m lifetime online. I, and I'm sure many others, simply cannot comprehend these figures. This might be a silly question, but where does he get his money from?! I know he's had some big live scores, and I bet he is well looked after by FTP, but $15m?! How many other professions are out there where you can lose the best part of 10 million quid and still be considered a ''professional'' in your field?

Football obv
Nigel signs Conor Sammon for £1.2 million after he's scored 1 goal in 30+ games for Wigan
Clough brings back bad memories God, he was useless for us despite his reputation.
Seems to be doing ok in Sheffield. Can't be easy with his name after all his father did....
Quite enjoy the 9.30pm BH, even more so now it's GTD has been boosted to 3k. Think the standard in it is generally not too great, and there is some decent sums up top (think it was £440 + HP tonight). I of course just busted it about 50th, but took a few heads with me. Could've gone deeper but 2 consecutive hands sent me packing; m/r called it off B v B with A10, only for the BB to wake up with QQ. Put me down to about 13bb, but pick up AQ the very next hand, and the shorty in the cutoff goes all in for about 8bb. I obv reshove the button with AQ, but Mr big stack in the BB has AK. Sort it out Sky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wednesday rebuy main is now up to 8k gtd. Shall be giving it a bash tomorrow night, maintain it's the best tournament on the site outside of maybe the Roller.
Occasionally have a look at the high stake action that runs on the Sky cash tables. Clocked a guy tonight playing £2.50/£5 and £5/£10 vs well known cash and MTT players on the site. The guy in question used to frequent the 4nl tables as recently as July when I was also grinding out at that level. I thought he was too good for that level, and had notes to tread carefully vs him, but to see him now playing up to 1000nl just half a year later..... Meteoric rise? Taking a shot? Binked a massive score elsewhere? Who knows eh!
Yesterday was fun. Scraped a min cash in the main. Had a reasonable run in the mini, ultimately falling in 8th. First points in the bag for the leaderboard
Was still in both tournaments past midnight, so you do start to dream of taking them both down. Alas it wasn't to be, but still pretty satisfying cashing in both main and mini on the same night.
Couple of little nuggets from yesterday....I couldn't get the lobby to work in the ME. Just wouldn't load for some reason. I guessed we were probably about 6 or 7 spots from the bubble, and as I was nursing a very short stack (hovered around 9bb), I was shipping any decent hand or spot. TBH I was shipping most hands when first in, as I knew I had to keep my head above water if I wanted to get in the monies. So for a couple of orbits I was jamming pretty wide and getting it through. Then the message pops up that we were going hand for hand, yet we'd only lost one person since my estimate. By now, I'd managed to pinch enough chips to lift myself about 6 spots from the bottom, and thus got into the money without much of a sweat. What would've happened had I been able too view the lobby? Had I seen that we were on the bubble bubble, would I have passed 10 7s UTG? I feel, looking back, that being ignorant of the lobby info got me into the money. Would it be foolish to play a full MTT without looking at the lobby once? Probably only one way to find out
A big leak in my game is paying people off when I know I'm not good. Can get away with this at the cash tables to a degree (I play recreationally and well within my limits), but when in the last 10 of an MTT, its something I need to eradicate from my game. Happened again last night. 5 handed with AQs, I standard m/r from a pretty short stack (15bb or so), and I got just over min 3bet from a similar stack size. I knew exactly what he had, something that crushed me. Yet I still couldn't find the fold. I talked myself into shipping, going completely against my instinct and experience. Yep, he had KK. Yep, like a lucky fish I flopped the A, and then dodged far too many outs on the turn to scoop the pot. Can someone advise on how I can look to rid this from my game? I recognise its a problem, yet I can't help myself! Any tips much appreciated folks.
Alongside the 2 MTT's last night, was trying to rinse Orford of his bankroll at a 10nl table. Was good fun, with other notable faces like Geldy and Slipwater also playing, and Paige railing. Don't think I've missed anyone out there ....banter was flowing in the chatbox, and running commentaries on how we were doing in the various tourneys seemed to annoy a certain regular. Well if he reads this, I have one word, or abbreviation, for him....PEH.

That is a huge leak in my game too especially if I see a flop and hit bottom or second pair and convince myself that I must be good here and see oppo turn over top pair. Nobodies perfect I suppose, well David Moyes is getting close to it at the moment! Good luck and run well mate
Got a few days holiday I needed to use at work, so taken the week after next off. Convinced the flatmate to take a few days off too as I'd seen P & O (other ferry companies are available) we're doing BOGOF on mini cruises to Bruges. Did one to Amsterdam a few years ago and was good fun, and quite fancy seeing what Bruges has to offer so this worked out well. Went to go and book it tonight, and that part of the website just wasn't playing ball. Tried it on another computer but still no joy despite repeated attempts. Was gonna give up for the night and hope the offer was still there tomorrow, when I thought I'd try and book it as a simple ferry sailing as opposed to a 'mini cruise'.
Result! Not only was it the same price with everything included, I also managed to swindle a 'Premier Cabin' for the same price as a standard cabin. So my mild ferry tilt at the offer page not loading turned into essentially a free upgrade with a bit of digging around the site.
Moral of the story? Well, there is no moral really. But if any forum guys want something travel related looking for, don't hesitate to give me a shout. Gazza127 can vouch for this
Have a great weekend all, and run well at the tables.
Have a great time in Barcelona hopefully u bink a ticket for the match. If down towards the casino drop into the bah haa (not sure of spelling )beach bar really good fun. Always get the casino or bar to order a taxi for you to pick yous up outside , always safer.

Hi h, this thread makes for great reading and has piqued my interest on the topic of cruises,my wife and I went on one last year for our 25th anniversary and now I am hooked!so much so we are currently scouring the tinternet and visiting many travel agents for a trip back to the caribbean on the jewel of the seas in sept of this year,if only I new someone in the trade who could get me a good deal, nudge nudge, wink, know what I mean.;)we are looking at the one which visits st croix as that is the different route from the one we did last year, anyway I tend to ramble so good luck on your venture and at the tables.

The Wife and I went on a fantastic Caribbean cruise in 2010. I was dubious to begin with - thinking it would be wall-to-wall false teeth - but I was pretty far off the mark, and I'm glad to say that's an old stereotype which is fast becoming irrelevant. It was a fantastic experience, and one I'd fully recommend to anyone.
But with all that 'free' food... buy a larger pair of trousers.

Pfffffffffft.
Debating not commenting so you assumed I didnt read this terrible excuse for a diary
Anyway. You should probably go travelling. I would, but I dont know anyone who can find me cheap flights...
Ponied up for the Roller last night. Was going pretty well, hovered around average or above for most of it. Then anyone who was watching the show will probably have seen my dubious exit hand. I say dubious, as I really shouldn't have gone broke there vs that villain. I've played him a few times before and I don't really rate his game from what I've seen (anyone who saw his Q6 peel hand not long after he bust me will understand why), but then that reflects pretty badly on my game as I simply couldn't let go of the bullets vs him, despite him basically telegraphing trips with his action. Sigh, I'll get him next time. Pleased to see DivsDreams take it down. Often share tables with him, which is annoying as he's very good! He is certainly crushing at the moment, must be nice.
So what do you do when you bust like £125 of poker tournaments in an evening? You organise a trip to Las Vegas of course! Only been once before, and that was back in 2011, so very much looking forward to it. Yet again my travel booking experience has helped significantly. My mate had sourced a flight back from LV to Manchester on Friday 9th May for just over a couple hundred, but couldn't find anything reasonable going out the weekend before. Travelling from Manchester or London would've taken it to £700 return. Bit steep. Less steep if you fly from Dublin however. Gonna be a bit of an arduous journey there, as I'm flying Manchester - Dublin, night in Dublin before an early morning flight to Gatwick on the 4th, then hopping on the Virgin Atlantic service to Vegas that lunchtime. But even factoring in the extra cost of flying to Dublin and staying the night there, it's pretty much saved me about £150 vs the alternative option. Which has more than covered the cost of accomodation; gone somehwhat budget but 5 nights at Stratosphere in an upgraded room for under 100 sheets was too good to turn down. An expensive evening sorting it all out, but feel I've got a decent amount for the money involved.
Bruges, Barcelona and Las Vegas all before May. Not sure I'll need to backpack after all

Haha, I'm not gonna lie to you, cruises ain't my strong point! Flights good. Hotels fine. Cruises less so. However, I shall have a peruse and see if there is anything out there that might fit the bill.
By the way, if this is you rambling, then you sure know how to make me and Lambert180 feel bad
Yeah, you and Lambert really do go on a bit. I much prefer to do short and snappy posts.
Can't believe I'm going to write this, but..
You've got a brain which is why you're hesitating over the travelling.
You and you alone are the only one who can decide whether it's right for you. Pros and cons and all that sort of stuff.
Just maybe take a step back sometimes. Life seems pretty good for you right now. Plenty of breaks away. Very, very jealous to read about the Vegas thing. I'll never do that. Poker may not be going so great presently but long term you will always be a winner at the game. Things aren't so bad.
