Oops. Looks like I'm extending my Jac bokking skills to football as well.
Sorry but I thought Chelsea were really good tonight.

    Agree.

Now United are out of it, as a neutral I don't mind who wins the league. The Chelsea win was the best result for keeping it wide open, thought City would run away with it if they won tonight.

Still think they'll get there, but it will be close.

    Game on!

What do City fans make of Dzeko btw???

I absolutely concur. Bar Bayern Munich, easily the best team to rock up at Eastlands this season. They got us on a good night, not sure what it was but something from missing from our general play. First goal was always gonna be crucial, but it soon became clear that City could play all night and still not find the back of the net. Which is kinda ironic.

Have quite a favourable run of half a dozen games in the league, including 4 of the next 6 at home, so a great opportunity to put more points on the board as we head towards the business end of things. Sandwiched in amongst that is of course the League Cup final and the double header vs Barcelona. So whilst tonight was disappointing, there is still plenty to look forward to. Credit to Chelsea, well worthy of their 3 points. Hopefully we can exact revenge in the FA Cup a week on Saturday.

Bookies still have us as league favourites. They never get it wrong, right? ;)

Yeah, it was the dream result for any impartial viewers in terms of keeping everything close knit. You never know, goal difference may well play an important part again....it looks like it could be that tight.

Dzeko? Can of worms JJ! Personally, I really like him. He has his flaws; he doesn't chase as much as Negredo, isn't as elegant as Aguero. His first touch can sometimes look world class, other times he can't control a simple pass. He is very much a confidence player, and it doesn't take much for his head to drop. But, he sticks the ball in the onion bag for us. He can score pretty comfortably with either foot, and is good in the air. He left his shooting boots at home tonight, but overall his record is pretty solid for us. Netted some very important goals too. Yet he gets ridiculous amounts of stick from our fans. I'm steering clear of various City forums for a day or 2 as I know Edin will be the scapegoat for the poor team performance tonight. He'd stroll into most teams in the world, certainly every other Prem team, just unfortunate that his game time for us is sometimes restricted due to the quality we have up front. He's out of contract at the end of next season, and I don't think he'll get a new one. I imagine we'll move him on this summer to avoid letting him leave on a free. As and when he leaves, he'll have nothing but my respect and appreciation.

Thought I'd approach the turbo in a different manner tonight and reg during the break, just before the comp closed. Thought I could easy spin up 20bb, no bother.

    It's 9.10 and I'm posting on here.

    GG.

    Thought I'd play the 9.30 £3k BH.

It's 01.45, and I'm posting on here. Ran a little better in this one ;) Ultimately fell at the final hurdle HU vs Claytov (wp sir), but a decent return on the £11 BI. Got £100 alone in HP. People jamming into my aces, flopping sets. Was running very well. Caught up with me late on when I had KK busted by AK, and then on FT had KK busted by AQ for a huge pot.

Probably should add for balance, I 3bet jammed KQ from the BB vs a serial SB opener, had him covered too so took a stand. Yeah, he had the bullets. KKJ flop, must be nice. Sort it out Sky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I'm off to bed.

    Thank you Susan.

Mixed bag on the pokers today. 3rd in the Rainman deepy. Min cash in the multi stack. Satted into the main. But no joy in either the main, mini or the 9.30 BH. Ran pretty deep again in the latter. Shipped 88 from the BB after a button limp and SB make up. Button calls with 5 high, flops 2 pair, must be nice! Took 14 heads last night, not a sniff tonight. Such is the game.

Watching the Hunted doc on C4. Shows just how backwards parts (and people) of Russia still are. I know this country is far from perfect, but at least we aren't stuck in the 19th century!

Also watched Sun Sea and Suspicious Parents (I do like a bit of trash every now and then). This one focused on Koh Phi Phi island in Thailand. It looks so beautiful!

    A night of sets....

Gambled early doors in the main with 2 overs and the 2nd nut flush draw. I say 2 overs loosely, as I was positive these weren't live overs, but fancied a gamble and the turbo is not exactly a great MTT. He had a set, which was quads on the turn, GG.

Won a seat into the £55 BH for £6. Picked up AA in the 2nd level. Already been a limp and a raise, before I pumped it up again in the SB. Therock573 is the only caller....KJx, all spades...I have the As....I bet and he raises me. Now I'm pretty certain he has a set here, pretty much JJ is all he can really have. Pot was already quite large by now. I could've folded, but I was in for a few quid and knew I could never be drawing dead. He had the Jacks as suspected and held. NH GG.

Last chance of the night was the 9.30 £3k BH. Ran reasonably well in that, eventually being the first player out on the final table. The key hand was another set. About 10 left, sitting pretty comfortably around average. Raised AQs, one caller and the flop comes down low and flushing....something like 352 with a couple of clubs for the nut flush draw, basically a dream flop for me. I cbet it, and villain just jams into me, just about covering me. Knew I had way too much equity to fold, and vs this villain I was pretty confident my 2 overs were indeed live. Well I was wrong on that point, as he flipped over a set of 3s. But I turned the flush and faded the FH redraw to get a top 2 stack. Was on the FT bubble for ages, and in that time I lost JJ<A5 AIP for a large pot. This left me very much amongst the pack again, I limped onto the FT and bust within the first orbit shoving K9 into a limpers AK. Disappointing, but I scoped the limper and that cheered me up somewhat. Certainly the biggest financial loser I've ever seen on Sky.

This 9.30 BH is fast becoming my favourite MTT on Sky.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Off to Eastlands tomorrow for the visit of Sunderland. 2 blanks in a row so hope to be back in the goals. Bonus for City that WBA sneaked a late goal vs Chelsea. Squeeky bum time in the league....

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Unfortunately at my first funeral in about 12 years on Monday. Need to buy some clobber tomorrow for it, probably shouldn't rock up in a hoodie! Things like this put me in a reflective mood. Very grateful for what I have. It also makes me yearn to jet off. This is still in the balance, but the more I consider it the more I lean a certain way. Another episode of Sun Sex and suspicious parents tonight didn't help...

Don't really have much to say tbh. Fairly quiet week poker wise. No cashes of any note.

Football was disappointing last night. Felt we gave Barca too much respect early doors. Then we started to get a foothold in the game, and could tell that Barca didn't like being attacked. Don't rate Valdes too much either, was hoping we'd put him under more pressure over the 90 mins.

Kinda feel for Demichelis a little bit. It was a rash challenge. But he was having a reasonable game up to that point. Shoulda just let Messi go through on goal. Yeah, he'll probably score but at least it's 11 vs 11 to try and get back into it. To go a goal and a man down against them is footballing suicide. That late second was a sucker punch too.

At least we go there with absolutely nothing to lose. Aguero will be back. There will be no pressure or expectation on us. And we'll have to do what we do best....attack! To say it's an uphill battle is a mild understatement, but stranger things have happened, like me winning the Primo, so you never know in this crazy game.

    -----------------------------------

Had a small amount of cash on Stars ($30 or so). Went to withdraw it tonight. Apparently the minimum withdrawal back onto my card is $100. Ok. So deposit the $70 to round it up and then withdraw. But now I have to wait 48 hours in case of 'fraud or collusion'. Can see how they make their money! I'll just wait the 2 days out, no bother, as I hardly ever even load up their client, let alone play on the site. But can easily see how someone else might get tempted to splash about with it whilst waiting, and ultimately end up losing it probably.

Mate had some trouble with Carbon poker at the weekend, and still doesn't have his money now. Party poker are also notoriously bad for things like this. Never had any issues with Sky. Granted, I have barely withdraw in the last year, but even in the past they've been fine, and pretty quick too. An element of the business that they sell themselves short?
  • edited February 2014
I used to play a lot on Stars and a little on Fulltilt and I discovered a little trick.. You can link your accounts together and transfer money between them instantly. On Fulltilt you need $50 to withdraw and Stars $100 so if I ever wanted to withdraw between 50-100 I would just transfer it to Fulltilt and withdraw it instantly there :)
Might be good for future reference for anyone on those sites!

Thanks for the heads up madam Duck! Think FTP is one of the few sites I've not signed up for. I couldn't possibly cheat on Sky poker ;)

    -------------------------------------

All this UKPC stuff is really giving me the urge to play live. A shame that York doesn't have a casino. You'd think it would (a lot of people are surprised when I tell them it doesn't), we have loads of tourists year round, plus the horse racing festivals about 5 times a year. Nearest gambling joint is in Leeds, sigh.

Speaking of Leeds, the GUKPT rocks up there in September. Was gonna take a shot at it (£550 would be the biggest buy in MTT I'd ever played), but the Genting poker series Newcastle leg is in August, slightly cheaper BI, bigger GTD, and Newcastle is a nicer place than Leeds IMO. Would prefer to spend a weekend in Geordie land than in West Yorkshire. Put aside £110 a month for 4 months and thats the buy in sorted!

I think I prefer live poker. Think I play better (not that I could play much worse vs my online game!). Like the social element of things. Only played one SPT, a couple of the Grand Prix's at DTD, so it would be nice to see what the GPS is like and have a decent weekend up north to boot. August just feels so far away at the moment :( £25 freezeout's in Leeds shall have to suffice until then.

    Oh Edin. Edin Edin Edin.

    Eight hours in.

Unopened pot, so I shoved twelve bigs with pocket 7s. Fold, Fold, Fold, etc. One caller. He says: "I have four high". He turns over 3 4 of diamonds.

Flop is a rainbow. All high cards.

    Turn is a 4.

    River is a 4.

Guy says: "Yes! Oh, sorry mate. I feel bad now."

Cameras catch me walking off, swearing - despairing that he called me with that junk!

    Live poker is rigged.

    It's been a while....

I don't even have 100 reward points this month. Can't wait for my juicy payment come early April ;)

Been a hectic week. Great trip to Barcelona despite the result and outcome. Thought we gave a good account of ourselves in the 2nd leg, but the tie was lost in the first leg. Really not a big fan of these continental refs. Poor for both sides on Wednesday. Far too whistle and card happy, yet missed 2 clear penalties. Make their English counterparts look reasonable!

The less said about the Wigan game the better. Knocked 5 past them in the league cup, but come unstuck vs them again in the FA Cup. Only consolation is that I'm very pleased for Uwe Rosler. Looks like he's doing a cracking job there, and his manager stock must be rising. Wouldn't be surprised to see him managing in the PL at some point. Fairytale to end up back at City...

All comes down to the league now, and tbh I don't really fancy our chances. Gone off the boil in recent weeks, and Chelsea are looking pretty efficient. Would rather have the points on the board than the games in hand as well. But we have nothing else to aim for so fully expect to see our players give their all in these last 2 months, starting at Hull tomorrow, a game I shall be attending. Capital of culture? My a$$ ;)

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Should probs talk a little bit about poker or else this whole thread might get moved to the football section! Though not too much to say. Monday before last, I 'won' the dtd comp. Well, I would've won had I registered in time. Shall not make that mistake again....also satted into the SSBH. Sat on Julian Thew's direct left, which was nice. Didn't tangle with him too much but thought I was gonna take his bounty when I bet a broadway gutshot in position into 3 oppo's (as you do), only Yoyo came along for the ride. Turned said gutshot and he check calls again, so I know he has something as there are zero draws on the board. Left myself a pot sized shove for the river, and Julian tank folded. Unfortunately that was the highlight of the tournament, I busted a bit later on. My record in the ME bounty hunters is awful, don't think I've even come close to a final table. But would be rude not to try and change this tonight with the double GTD on offer.

    Run well all!

PS, if anyone is a fan of Maximo Park, well worth trying to catch them on their current tour. Saw them in Leeds last night, decent set and a good night, despite the cost of a pint being £4.20!
  • edited March 2014
Was gonna post how Cheltenham, the pub and mobile betting can take a decent chunk of your bankroll, but I've recouped most of it by cashing in the ME tonight with a couple of heads to boot.

    Stupid horses.

Well this weekend hasn't been too shabby thus far, both on the poker and football front.

Hull. That was a very long 90 minutes. Thought we put in a class performance after Vinny's red. I hope the players are having a well deserved day off today after putting in such a shift with a man down so soon after an energy sapping game in Barcelona. Then to see Chelsea lose, and the continued hilarity at O/T under the guidance of the ''chosen one'' topped it off quite nicely (despite Liverpool winning not being ideal!).

How Hull was chosen as the capital of culture 2017 is beyond me. Granted, I have only seen parts of the place, but the walk from the station to the ground possesses as much culture as a homeless man at Heron Foods.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

Poker has been ok as well. Satted into the early Roller semi but busted about 7 spots from the seats. No complaints with the exit hand, standard stuff and couldn't hold. Gave Daiw a filthy beat not long before that, my luck just ran out.

Cashed in the £250 gtd, 4th for about 35 quid. Then won a £400 BH for about £135 ish. Managed to claw back a 35k < 225k deficit HU @ 1.5/3k vs a pretty profitable player, so pleased with that. Helps when you pick up QQ, then play 6 9 of diamonds like a boss ;)

Also had my first winning football bet since about 1967. £10 on Wigan, Burnley and York returned almost £100 yesterday. The bankroll has grown a bit this weekend, but might have to make a dreaded withdrawal as I lack funds in the old bank account. Sorry Sky!

Maybe leaning towards Man United being very bad as your mate Dzeko is almost looking decent.

A little from column A, a little from column B. They are a pretty awful team these days (have been for a while IMO, they just used to have a manager who could somehow get the best out of them, now they don't). I'm sure Yaya and Fernandinho were bricking it coming up against Cleverley, Carrick and that big haired Belgian clown. Back in the day, in the build up to a Manchester derby, there would always be a 'Manchester XI' of which we would have one player in as a token gesture. Well, the only player from the other side of town who might get a look in these days is Shrek. Even then, I wouldn't swap any of our forwards for him. How the tables have turned, long live David Moyes!

But to be fair as well, we were class on Tuesday. When you have players like Silva and Kompany, you know you're in safe hands. I'm glad to see Dzeko is silencing his critics. Demichellis is looking pretty solid (still think we might break the bank for a world class CB to partner Vinny in the summer). Fernandinho and Toure compliment each other so well. Zabaleta is Zabaleta...IE God. If we perform at Arsenal on Saturday night like we did on Tuesday, I fancy us to nick a win there. Crunch game is at Anfield in mid April.....

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Played a live sat in Leeds last night, first live outing this year. To say the standard was atrocious is being generous. Guy limps in, other guy jams 59BB with K9, limper guy calls with 66. That is just scratching the surface of how awful the standard is at Grosvenor Leeds.

Started the FT as the shortie. I did get pretty lucky in one hand to get a much needed DU, then had 1010 hold vs AKs to give me a reasonable stack. Got down to the last 6, with 2 seats available. Took a high variance line with nut flush draw on the flop and alas couldn't hit and duly exited. Had there been 3 seats, or were playing 4/5 handed, then I might have played it a bit more cautiously. But with 6 of us and just the top 2 getting something, I was reasonably happy to get it in with pretty much 50% equity (9 flush and 3 A outs) and go for the jugular. Another deciding factor was how we were all quite similarly stacked. There was no clear shortie or CL. Took the gamble for a clear chip lead and missed, but no grumbles. Will certainly look to play it again, and I urge anyone else in the Leeds/York area to do similar!

Unsure what to do with the Mega Roller. Not rolled for events like this these days, and I'm usually a BR nit. But I know the urge to play it will get stronger the closer it gets. Suppose it might come down to just how hungover I am on Sunday!
  • edited March 2014

The poker gods haven't been too kind to me today. KK beaten by QQ. KK beaten by K8. And then busted the main when KK couldn't hold vs 55. And just to round it off, busted a sat for the Mega Roller, set over set on the flop, all goes in on the river only for the trapper (me) to become the trappee. Not sure that's even a word. Meh.

Got a few sng's in for that challenge. Was sitting on played 6, won 3 lost 3 (regular games not DYM's). For some reason I clocked this as not too impressive, so played a couple more and busted short of the money in silly spots. Then discover (thanks Paul) that I was sitting on an ROI of around 80% before spewing off in those last 2. Sigh. Gotta find the time for another 22 minimum over the weekend, hopefully piece together a few wins to give myself a bit of a chance. Gonna start bum hunting at the 55p level and go from there.

  • edited March 2014

Hmmm, tempted to withdraw down to £5.50 for the DTD games tomorrow evening. Perhaps my mojo will return when I have to play for a new bankroll.

Played awfully in the Mega Roller. Felt out of my depth for the first time in a long time. Just dwindled my stack down until I jammed J9 from the BB into a button raise, who calls with KQ and holds/gets there, despite going behind on the turn.

Then whaled out of the mini (AJ />QQ AIP) by a guy almost 15k down on the site.

But this time in 5 weeks I'll be in Vegas, so reasons to be cheerful!
