In Response to Re: The Return of 68Trebor : Although my bankroll says I am playing above my limit I have the necessary funds to play at this level, just don't stick it all in my account on Sky. I find if I drop down any lower I don't have the desire to win. Thanks for the good luck message regards the house, it will happen when it's meant to. Posted by 68Trebor

Went to see Godzilla today with my daughter and have to say I quite enjoyed it. Did make me chuckle when after about 10mins of film my daughter leaned over and whispered "Godzilla isn't real is it". Hard to believe she is at Heckmondwike Grammar School and very clever, not sure where she gets that from.
Then watched the film Jarhead tonight. I enjoy a war based film and although it's not in the calibre of Full Metal Jacket, Platoon, Black Hawk Down or any of the other real classics it was a good watch. In what is fast becoming the 'biggest car crash' in the history of SkyPoker Forum Diaries I have had another disaster on the cash tables this afternoon. I am now, probably not before time, coming to the realisation that cash is not the answer. The problems I have is that MTT's do not really fit into my work/home life. With cash it is easy to sit down, play for a bit and if the occasion arises stand up from the table and do whatever is necessary. Plus I have a real desire to crack the cash game as it is 'the purest form of poker' and to master it means you have really achieved something. Only last year I recorded on Stars 321 MTT's, a ROI of 14% and was ranked 69.000th out of 1.7million players for the whole of 2013, according to Officialpokerrankngs. I know I have a better chance of achieving something within the poker world as long as I stick to MTT's and accept the fact I am useless at cash. So it is with a heavy heart that I have decided to retire from the cash tables. As you all will know by now I have about as much will power as a thing that has very little will power, when it comes to poker. It's funny really because in everyday life people say I am extremely strong willed and very disciplined, poker must be my release. I suppose that is why we play poker, to get away from the real world and dream about impossible glories. So all I ask of anyone reading this. If you see 68Trebor sat at a cash table, have a word.

I understand your feelings and cash can certainly be frustrating but giving up is all too easy. I dont know you but I have at times felt the same about both forms. Sometimes it doesnt feel fair and you can really not understand how some of the beats happen and how things cant get going but as I said giving up is too easy.
Have a break, think about your play so far, read up and go again but an NL4. Dont think it about the money just being succesful, make that your challenge.
From the little we played I have noticed you are far too active and far too aggresive. What I mean by this is people will notice and start calling you down lighter or wait to trap you and those that dont notice will call you regardless so trying to bet them off isnt going to work often. Being aggressive is all well and good but you have to make it controlled aggression, more believable and in better positions (i.e. last to act) and im sure results will improve.

Thanks for your words of wisdom. It's funny how you think I am too aggressive. I always have the feeling I am being to passive and hence try to move up a gear. That is certainly food for thought. I know what you mean about not giving up but to be fair 7 years of trying to make cash a game I can win at seems a fair effort. I think I will stick to the MTT's for a bit and see how it goes.
So started my MTT crusade. Played 2 Main event sats last night, not very successful. Played a £750 BH coming 196/240. Played £300 BH coming 11/120 will show my exit hand on next post. Played Mini 109/589. Then played a £30 Speed BH this morning bubbling the cash in 4/25. The following hand was probably the biggest decision of the tournie. Looking back I think I probably should have gone with it but at the time was chip leader and thought the long term play was to fold. Thoughts please.

Is this cash or tournaments - and how many BB's do you have? If I was deep stacked I would raise the first 4 and call 5. 6 is tricky. Perfect hand to 4-bet bluff pre-flop but against an opponent only 3-betting for value and not folding to further action I would usually just fold.
Have been continuing playing MTT's and got a few more in last night and played a few today, day off and weather that bad what else could I do. Although not getting any great results yet I have managed to take a few bounties along the way and made another cash. I am, however, really enjoying the MTT's on SkyPoker. Never used to play them much as until I got my new laptop recently I would end up lagging terribly so played most of my MTT's on Stars. Much preferring having to only get through a field of up to 100 rather than plough through the thousands on Stars. In house moving news there have been some developments. Yesterday I received what can only be described as a very cheeky offer, which was dispatched to the boundary in Botham style. Then received an increased offer of £5k more. This put us nearer to where we need to be. This was also declined. At the close of play last night the gentleman had been given a figure, another £4k, that I would accept and had gone away to discuss with his wife. I am now sat here waiting for phone to ring. As discussed with Mrs Estate Agent when she contacts him if he can not get to the £4k extra she is to ascertain how near he can get. Between me and you, keep it to yourself, if he was to up his offer by £2k we will have a deal. So please all keep your fingers crossed as it is not particularly nice sitting here waiting. Really am ready to move now.

Having not posted for a couple of days here's a quick update. Played MTT's for the last couple of nights, not playing tonight, too tired and watching footie, probs won't play tomorrow as got work all day and then either off out or having a few beers at home. Either way I will be watching the most hyped fight of the decade. Really hope it isn't a 1 round wonder, has all the possibilities of being a great fight. Reminds me of the Benn v Eubank fights. On the house front I think we might have missed out as Mr & Mrs Potential Buyer have not raised their second offer, although they are still interested, and are viewing another new to the market house tonight. Would love to accept their 2nd offer but just need that bit more to get us where we want to get. Plus I know what my house is worth and feel aggrieved to sell it for less than that. My poker hasn't improved and so I am going to contemplate what to do when I return and re-deposit, again. May return to the cash tables or may stay on the MTT's.

Not going to focus on the cash tables, had an appalling start dropping about £30 at 10nl last night. Resorted back to MTT's and played £500 BH at 7.45pm and the £1k BH at 8.15pm. Finished 4th in the £500 getting QQ in v AK for 40k chips for the flop to come AK* and then a K on the turn. TY and good night. Posted below, my exit hand in the £1k where I finished 19th out of 138. Not sure whether I should be getting it in here or not. Going to focus mainly on MTT's for a while as my cash game seems to have gone to pieces and I can't just keep topping up. Currently I have an IPhone 4S and get an upgrade in the next couple of weeks. Thinking of getting one of the following and wondered if anyone with any of them had any feedback. IPhone 5S, Galaxy S5, HTC One(M8) or the cheapest option HTC One.

Here is a hand from one of the BH's I played this afternoon. At the time I was torn between calling and folding. As it turned out it worked out OK, but is this the correct lay down long term. The hand occurred on what was a long drawn out cash bubble and the villain had already done this to me twice. Thoughts appreciated.

This evening I am just going to play the 18:45 £750 Bounty Hunter and will be watching the football, hopefully at the same time, if I haven't already bust out. Had the following bets for the game tonight.
£6 England to win @23/20. £2 Lamps to score first @10/1. £2 Lamps to score anytime @7/2.
Also placed the following bets for the World Cup.
£10 EW Lukaku Top Scorer @25/1, 1/4odds 1-2-3-4. Plus the firm I have bet with will give you a £5 Free Bet every time he scores.
£2 Accum, 50p 5-folds. Brazil Top Scorer Neymar 1/1. Holland Top Scorer Van Persie 6/5. Uruguay Top Scorer Suarez 13/8. England Top Scorer Sturridge 11/4. Bosnia Top Scorer Dzeko 13/8. Belgium Top Scorer Lukaku 2/1.
Only played a few MTT's since last update as been my weekend in at work and also had a visit form the Regional Manager on Saturday morning so was all hands to the pump on Thursday and Friday. Then a late shift on Saturday and working Sunday. Not much to report really having just played the 3 tournies and claimed one bounty. Will be back to play a bit more tomorrow night. Really looking forward to the World Cup now but don't rate England's chances at all, if we get out of the group that will be a bonus. Have now placed all my ante-post bets and these are all shown below. Gone big on Argentina as really think they have the fire-power are playing it in their back yard and the fact they appear to have an easy run to the semis where they will probably meet Spain.
£10 EW Lukaku Top Scorer @25/1, 1/4odds 1-2-3-4. Plus the firm I have bet with will give you a £5 Free Bet every time he scores.
£10 EW Messi Top Scorer @7/1, 1/4odds 1-2-3-4. Plus the firm I have bet with will give you a £5 Free Bet every time he scores.
£15 Argentina Outright 4/1.
£7 Argentina to Win & Messi Top Scorer 14/1.
£6 Brazil v Argentina Final 8/1.
£2 Accum, 50p 5-folds. Brazil Top Scorer Neymar 1/1. Holland Top Scorer Van Persie 6/5. Uruguay Top Scorer Suarez 13/8. England Top Scorer Sturridge 11/4. Bosnia Top Scorer Dzeko 13/8. Belgium Top Scorer Lukaku 2/1.

Played a £6.60 sat into tonight's main in which I successfully qualified. Played the Main, getting 3 heads but no cash and also played the Mini. Was going really well in the Main until the following hand. Wasn't sure what to do but decided that I would go for it as winning this hand would give me chip lead and a real chance of reaching final table. Having been bought up on the ethos of going for the top 3 in MTT's it seemed the right move to make. Thoughts?

I probably fold, likely to be behind in the spot, and if not they're gunna have a massive combo draw at worst i think. Something like AKdd, UTG raise remember.
A very quick update as not much to report. Played a few MTT's including Main and Mini, then played an hour on mastercash making about £5. Did manage to make £400 today though. How I hear you ask. Basically got my renewal letter through for my buildings and contents insurance. Have been with the same major supermarket (claims to sell a Basic range but really is quite expensive) and paid monthly Direct Debit for a couple of years. Standard letter, here's your premium do nothing and just carry on with your direct debit and all will be well. Sooo easy just to sit back and watch the money come out month after month. Decided to do a bit of shopping about and ended up using another supermarket insurance with increased cover, less excess and for over £400 a year less. It definitely pays to shop around! A couple of decent signings for Villa in the last week. Despite numerous so called Villa fans moaning about Senderos and Cole not being good enough, over the hill etc, etc, I think they are the sort of players that will only benefit our squad in terms of helping out the youngsters. Gone are the days, for now, of Villa being able to go out and buy the upper echelons of available players and Villa fans need to wake up and smell the coffee. Both of these players will enhance our squad and add the depth we haven't had since O'Neill's days. Villa also released their new kit this week and I have to say it is the best home and away shirt we have had for a long time. Defo buying the new away shirt, very similar to the famous shirt we wore on the night of European Cup glory.

So it is finally here. The waiting is over, the big day has arrived and guess what, your's truly is on a late shift so will miss the opening ceremony and the opening game, will get to listen to second half on the way home in the car. Luckily I am off this weekend so will be able to watch the England game in the pub with a few sherberts. All my pre tournament bets are down, see above. Sky Super6 predictions entered. Sun Dream Team picked and leagues joined. So it is now time to grab the remote, sit back and relax. World Cup, I love it.
On the poker front have played a fair few more MTT's without any luck. As I am on lates today I have had an hour back on the cash tables this morning, two tables of 10nl and one of 8nl. Played pretty well I thought and ended up with a profit of £18. Think I may spend a bit of time back on the cash tables over the next few days and see how I do.

Got off work early so was able to watch opening game. Having watched Brazil's rather dodgy performance I am even more convinced that they won't be winning this World Cup. Thought Oscar had a good game but apart from him and Neymar, in bursts, wasn't over impressed by Brazil at all. Croatia look lively going forward and if Brazil hadn't had 12 players think they would of got at least a point from the encounter. Hope the sight of managers and players waving imaginary cards will not become the lasting image of the World Cup. Really like the spraying of the white line for free kick walls, sometimes the simplest ideas are the best.
So 1 game in, 2 bets made, 2 bets won. World cup profit £11.55.
Bets for tomorrow
£4 Mexico 13/10. £2 Hernandez 1st Score 5/1. £5.55 Spain v Holland Both Teams to Score 6/5.
5 mins into the Chile game decided it would be wise to invest in Sanchez to score 1st goal, so duly had £2.41 at 4/1. If the Aussies hadn't scored would of been a bumper return but still a good result. World Cup profit now at £35.05, this doesn't include my ante-post bets listed earlier which I will take into account once they are settled. Plan for today is to play a bit of poker here and there, watch episodes 3&4 of Broadchurch with my daughter, as promised to her, watch the 5pm game at home and then head off to the pub to watch the 8pm game and the England game. I do love watching England games at the pub rather than at home, as long as the pub is a decent one and not full of 19yr olds downing Jaegers and believing that the England game is an excuse to behave like utter morons. Will post later my bets for the day and an update on my poker.

Thoughts?

Another couple of games, another couple of winners.
3 games in, 5 bets made, 4 bets win, 1 bet refunded. World cup profit £23.41.
Cheeky few bets on Chile v Aystralia tonight.
£1 Sanchez 1st scorer Chile 2-0 20/1.
£1 Sanchez 1st scorer Chile 3-0 30/1.
£5 Chile -1 on H'cap 6/5.
£1 Chile 2-0 11/2.
£1 Chile 3-0 9/1.
