It depends if I have a read on the player, normally no id might let it go, but a nice flop too. But if you think your against an overpair or two overs  it it can work out well.

So a resume of the weekend.
Watched the England game in the pub and perhaps the funniest moment of the weekend was the wild celebrations caused by Sterling's goal, especially as I had backed him at 14/1 to be 1st scorer. Thought overall, from what I can remember, England did OK and still think we can get out of the group. Thought Holland were mighty impressive, but may have peaked far to soon and can't honestly believe a team playing a Villa central defender can go on to win the World Cup, although think we may have seen the last of Roncrete down at Villa Park, wouldn't be at all surprised to see him move to Old Trafford with Mr Van Gaal. Argentina, who I have invested in, played OK without over impressing, apart from a 10 min spell in 2nd half, hoping like all eventual champions they can grow in to the tournament.
On the betting front I have had a quite good start to the World Cup. I initially invested £80 into my account with the sole purpose of betting on the World Cup. This morning I have withdrawn £50 and have left myself £17.80 and a free £5 bet with which to play with, plus any future free £5 bets every time Lukaku or Messi score. So this means I am currently £30 down, but have £80 of ante-post bets still running.
Today I have used my free £5 bet on a double of Nigeria @ 19/20 and Ghana @ 6/4. Really tempted to include Portugal @ 16/5 but have resisted. Think Ghana @ 6/4 is massive and would advise backing them today.
On the poker front I have played a mixture of 10nl and a few MTT's with my best results being 2nd in a Super Roller Direct for £33 and 11th in last night's Mini for £36.63. I have decided to withdraw a £100 from my SkyPoker account as I have quite an expensive few days coming up.
I am working on lates today and tomorrow and then have 6 days off. On Wednesday off to see Kings of Leon at MEN, only reason I am going is that my brother works for a haulage firm and they tend to get the contracts to drive touring bands around Europe, he is currently touring with Kings of Leon and has got us a couple of free tickets. Last time Girls Aloud toured he managed to get us 3 free tickets so it is who you know, not what you know. Was jealous of him when he was touring with Girls Aloud as not only do they drive the lorries, set stage up but they also have an involvement in the running of the show, whether its lighting, curtains, costume change etc. During the Girls Aloud tour his role within the show was to assist Cheryl with her costume changes during the night, jammy bug ger.
Thursday night is obviously another trip to the pub to watch England.
Friday morning at 6am flying out to Dublin with 17 other lads for a stag do, returning Sunday evening. Booked Monday off work as a precaution. Will not be a cheap weekend but really looking forward to it, stopping in Temple Bar, Guiness factory trip booked and paid for and Go-Karting as well.
On the house front still no movement but had a viewer yesterday who seemed pretty keen so we will have to wait and see.
Watched the entire series of Broadchurch and have to say one of the best dramas I have seen for a long, long time. I was convinced it was the vicar and never would of guessed who the killer was, role on Broadchurch 2.

As Nigeria let me down and I am convinced Ghana are a good thing I have had the following bets.
    £5 Ghana @ 7/5.
    £2 Ghana -1 @ 4/1.
    £1 Ghana -2 @ 13/1.

Got home from work about 10.30pm last night and proceeded to lose a bundle on the poker tables. Got involved in 2 x £10 DYM and also played a bit of cash. Through a combination of being too tired and not focusing properly, the world cup has a lot to answer for, I ended up going to bed with my bankroll down to the £60 mark. Not only that but Ghana, the real good thing, let me down for my world cup bets yesterday. If they only had a decent final ball and someone to stick it in the net.
So this morning I returned to the poker tables to try and undo last nights wrongs. At this time of day there is a limited number of cash tables to choose from so ended up at 8nl, 10nl and 20nl table. Played the best I have for a long time and ended up with a profit of approx. £45. Don't know whether it was just the right table at the right time but found the biggest profit and easiest game on the 20nl table.
World Cup bets today are limited to a £1 Trixie on 1st scorers Lukaku @ 7/2, Neymar @ 3/1, Kerzhakov @ 5/1. Will also be cheering on Lukaku as have backed him for top goalscorer and every time he scores I also get a £5 free bet.
On a late shift tonight and then off for 6 days so guarantee that anything that can go wrong at work will.

So work over for 6 days, hoorah.
Played an hour of 10nl and like this morning thought I played well and posted a profit of £12.
Unfortunately on the way to work this morning my brakes started to grind so got an early morning trip to Kwik-Fit booked in.
Yet again I have suffered another case of Worldcupitis. For those who have not yet come across this new, highly contagious virus it affects mainly the male population and has the following symptoms. A need to watch TV until the early hours of the morning, an inability to hold a conversation without mentioning Rooney, the need to hold a remote control, betting on footballers you have never heard of and cannot pronounce (e.g. Heung-Min Son, 80p to score 1st and S.Korea to win 3-1), congregating in large groups to drink copious amounts of alcohol, jumping up and down like a mad thing whenever Sterling hits the side netting, planning where you will be for the next 3 weeks for every eventuality of every result involving England, lamenting ITV's coverage of the world cup, getting your England shirt out and being prepared to wear it to the pub, hanging large flags from your windows, wondering how any member of the male population cannot like football.

Played another cash session and broke even, well actually lost 1p. Couple of things to note, nice seeing The_Don90 at the table. Then not so nice to see a regular at 10nl tables giving an obviously new, inexperienced player having a bit of fun a whole load of abuse with regards to his play. What made it even worse was that towards the end of my session this regular got it all in for 100BB's, pre-flop with 10,9 off against my A,A. 10 and 9 on board gave him his 2 pair and the pot. Not bothered about that but did tell him in chatbox that he needs to stop berating other players when he is getting it all in pre-flop with 10,9.
Does make my blood boil how some players really think they are Phil Ivey and that other players shouldn't dare be on same table as them, its funny how these players are often found around the 10nl tables.
Only 1 World Cup bet today as off to Kings of Leon in a bit.

     So what a few days!

Kings of Leon last Wednesday night at MEN were really good, not amongst my favourite bands, but played a really good set and one of the best concerts I've probably been to. Have to thank my brother as seats were top drawer and couldn't have been any closer.

Thursday, watched England's, oh so typically English why do we expect anything more, performance. Have to say the World Cup as a whole has been one of the best I can remember with so many goals and unexpected results. Still hopeful that Argentina can re-pay my ante-post faith in them.

Friday, arrived at Leeds/Bradford airport at 5am for our flight to Dublin. There ended up being 12 of us going and the trip started off with Jaeger Bombs and Guiness in the departure lounge. It then basically consisted of 3 days drinking. Friday we did manage a trip to the Guiness building, but this just encouraged us to continue with the pints of Guiness. We were staying in Blooms Hotel in Temple Bar and our drinking was based around this area in the Old Stonehouse, The Vat House, The Norseman and various other public houses. It did go down hill as the night went on and came to a halt in some nightclub and then a dodgy casino/drinking hole. Saturday consisted of go-karting in the early afternoon and then a return to the drinking. Sunday we ended up in a pub called O'Neills and I have to say they served the nicest pint of Guiness I have ever had. Was a real shame we didn't find this place earlier as the food looked amazing and the pub itself was full of character. Although the trip to Dublin was ideal for what we wanted I was slightly disappointed in the overall feel of the place. It seemed quite seedy to me with prostitutes everywhere, one of our group, who was very much the worse for wear, got propositioned in the street and then again in a nightclub. There were also a lot of people sleeping on the street, and having spent 8 years living in London, I have to say it would appear the problem is a lot worse in Dublin. The other disappointing thing was the lack of Irish accents we heard. Every pub worker, hotel worker, nightclub worker, shop worker seemed to be from anywhere but Ireland. The only people who appeared to be Irish were the taxi drivers, who were certainly a lot more entertaining than the drivers where I live. Overall though a thoroughly enjoyable weekend, and its just a good job I booked Monday off to recover.
Will return to the tables tonight.

Very quick update as got my new iPhone 5s today and have stuff to do on it.
Didn't play yesterday as tired and not really in mood to play.
Played the Main and Mini tonight and quickly crashed out of the mini.
Went pretty good in Main, got some good hands early on and was in top 10 from early and stayed there until we got to last 30ish. Finally went out in 17th after getting it all in pre when I 3-bet all-in and got called. My 22 couldn't get there versus villains AA.

Not played any poker for the last 5 days as just not been in the mood. Will be returning tonight, I think.
Thought I was gonna be a £100k richer as I got the first 4 scores correct in round 4 of the Sky Super 6 and was running on to France to win 2-1 against Nigeria last night and Argentina to win 3-1 today. It was nice to dream for a few hours. I had decided I would pay off a couple of loans, nice holiday, new car for Mrs and then pay off a large junk of my mortgage.
Interest in house seems to have gone right off the boil, estate agent assures me the whole market has been very quiet for June and to just sit tight. Really regret not taking the last offer now.
My son finds out today if he has passed his probationary period at work. Really hope he has, but slightly worried he may not of. Don't know what he will do if they let him go. Will mean he has to get rid of his car and won't be able to afford the holiday he has booked with his mates. He is genuinely a nice lad but as with so many of todays youth he really seems to lack motivation to go that bit further and has such a laid back approach to life, complete opposite to me. I am far more worried than him, must be a parent thing.
Will be booking the summer vacation for me, our lass and my 14yr old daughter in the next few days. Looking at one of Lanzarote, Tenerife, Majorca, Menorca or Turkey. Really will depend on combination of hotels and flights available, cost and Trip Advisor ratings. Will be going all-inclusive and flying on 9th, 10th or 11th of August. Been to Turkey, Majorca and Menorca before but not experienced Lanzarote or Tenerife. Any thoughts or hotel experiences would be appreciated.
Anyway I am now waiting for our lasses MOT to be done, not costly I am hoping, and will then sit and fret until 5.30pm when I find out how laddo got on.
Month of June was successful in the fact that I made a profit of £75. Target for July is to make over £100 profit.

Played the Turbo Main and Mini last night and did poorly in both, not getting past late reg in either. Have returned to the cash tables tonight having spent a bit of time last night watching a couple of poker videos looking at strategy when playing at the 6 max micro levels.
Have slightly changed my strategy as a result and the first impressions have been good with a profit of approx. £16 tonight.
Seems strange to have no football to watch and wonder how I will survive in the gap between World Cup and season starting. I know it has been said numerous times but have really enjoyed this world cup and think it is probably the best one I have seen. Thought the Belgium v USA game last night was outstanding and really looking forward to the rest of the tournie. Still have all my ante-post bets running and will be cheering for Argentina to beat Brazil in the final and Messi to be top-scorer.

Since last update have played a bit of cash, not a great deal though, and broke about even. Got tempted into the Saturday night Main and Mini, not taking my double chance in the Main and taking the add on in the Mini. Did OK in the Main, but never got above 10k chips and eventually went bust in 87/203. Was going well in the Mini and probably had a cash locked up if I played it steady. Then the following hand came up. Still not sure if this was the correct play or if I was too aggressive pre-flop. Would have all gone in anyway the way the board fell, but interested in what people thought pre-flop.

Played a bit of 10nl over the last few days and faired ok, also played 3 Roller sats on Sunday and got into the Roller Mini for free thanks to J3ono. Managed to bump the bankroll back over the 3 figure mark. Will probably be concentrating on the 10nl tables for the next few days.
Booked my summer holiday today for me, our lass and my daughter. Son going off with his mates this year so total cost is a lot less, although I have ended up paying for our lad so not that much better off. Heading to Karmedena on the Greek island of Kos for 2 weeks in August, really looking forward to 2 weeks of relaxation and the chance to recharge the batteries.
Got a few tough weeks coming up at work with stocktake, then the boss being off, which leaves me in charge. Also seems the majority of the management team is off during the next 4 weeks and that leaves me and a couple of managers who will soon be leaving to hold the fort. Will be counting down the days to Kos just to get me through.
Couldn't believe what I saw last night as Germany destroyed Brazil. This means one of the ante-post bets is down with the Brazil v Argentina final now a non-starter. Need an Argentina win and a couple of Messi goals to keep my other bets going.
See Villa have been linked with Bedneter, would not be the worse signing for us, beggars can't be choosers, but don't honestly think we will get anywhere near his wage demands, especially as he thinks he is one of the best players in the world.

Had a quick session before the footie kicks off, played 3 tables of 10nl and managed to take a profit of just over £10.
Time to watch the footie now. Being a Villa fan its been nice to see Roncrete Vlaar do so well for Holland but I do fear for him tonight against Mr Messi. Don't be surprised to see him sent off and give away a penalty, as at the best of times he has his moments. Anyway, off to cheer on Messi and Argentina.

Been a long, long, long few days thanks to the joy of it being our annual stocktake at work. This has meant working 8 days back to back, a couple of 15hr shifts and a 5am start following a 10pm finish, bearing in mind it can take up to an hour to get to work. Final outcome was good though with a positive stocktake versus prediction and 100% for our stocktake prep.
Since last post see that everyone suddenly wants to buy Vlaar and Benteke. Can't honestly believe even we would be stupid enough to let Vlaar go to QPR for £4m, and why would Benteke want to go to Newcastle. We have been linked with Ki, would be a good signing and is just the type of player we need. Still being linked with Bendnter, don't think he would be that good a signing for us and would probably just disrupt the dressing room. Having said that he may come good for some club some day. Don't think we will match his wage demands anyway, especially as he would want a large pay packet as he sees himself as in the top 3 players in the world.
On the betting front was gutted Argentina lost and that Messi didn't turn up. Got a bit back on Messi top scorer as I backed him at 7/1 and also won about £50 on my accums for top scorer for an individuals team. Have had a few quid each-way on Rickie Fowler for the Open at 33/1, 1/4 odds first 7 places. Had a decent enough 1st round at -3.
On the poker front played a couple of sessions about a week ago and lost about 2 buy ins on the 10nl tables. Will be playing on the Mastercash tables tonight so you may see me on the telly. Hopefully I will fair better than last time when Marigolds tore my play to pieces. ABC tonight I think.

Played 2 hours of Mastercash 7pm-9pm tonight and had most successful session for a while, winning £25. Should have been more if I hadn't blown £20 when being stubborn with QQ. One day I will manage to play a whole session without making one stupid mistake for my stack.
See Villa are up to there old tricks. Currently drawing 1-1 at the mighty Mansfield Town. Ironic how 2 members of the Lambert Bomb Squad, Hutton and Bent combined for the goal. Looking at the pictures of Lambert he has spent the summer comfort eating. Have a feeling it could be another long season although I think the squad is probably a bit better than last years with the signings of Richardson, Cole and Senderos. We also have Okores fit for the season who I think from what little we saw last season could be one of Lambert's better buys. Plus the prodigal sons from the Bomb Squad such as Bent and N'Zogbia. All the kids have also had another season under the belt. Also hearing we are in advanced talks with Costa Rica's Joel Campbell. Bloody Hell when you start to analyse it we could be pushing Champion's League. Just remembered we are currently drawing 1-1 with Mansfield in the late stages, better focus on survival rather than Champion's League.

Well played Ricki Fowler gave me a good run for my money and gave me a £40 profit, surely his time will come soon. Have to say thought Rory played really well and never really looked threatened apart from about half an hour during round 3 when Fowler drew level. Next betting opportunity will probably be when I start to analyse my ante-post bets for the forthcoming footie season. Have a little betting bankroll in place now, on another well known Irish site, following a few winning bets at World Cup and Fowler's second place.
Villa have departed to USA, hopefully to play in front of new prospective owners. Nice to see Bent get 2 against Mansfield and continue to look forward to next season in the belief we have a better depth to our squad than last season.
Played 4 tables of 10nl this evening and feel my cash game is finally starting to improve. What I have been using and have been finding very helpful is I have sticky noted to my desktop a list of opening hand ranges from every position. I have been sticking pretty rigidly to these and hence end up in less difficult positions post-flop. Also started making more notes on players as I see them play different situations.
Congrats to Shakingaces for taking down hand 799,000,000. It's good to see a forum reg and a lower stakes reg benefit from a Sky promo. Spend it wisely.

    Hi Trebor

Will you be posting these up on here ? I,d like to know what chance you give Villa on the handicap market when the handicaps come out. I to won a bit on the World Cup as i,d backed Argentina and Germany pre -tournament but most of that went on the Golf. Like you said I think Rickie Fowler will come good soon and win some big tourneys. Was really impressed with thim this week
As for Villa - I thought with Roy keane coming in , this can only be a good thing esp as Paul Lambert speaks so highly of him. I really wouldn,t want Bendter in my team tho. I know he plays well for his country but hasn,t really done anything in the Prem leaugue for years which is why he,s probably been left out for so long. Arsenal really struggled last season with only Giroud as their main striker yet Bentdner still hardly got a chance. if he,d been playing well in training or reserve games surely Arsenal would have used him more

I,m always a bit dubious after a major tournament such as the World Cup when someone has a good cpl of games and all of a sudden there price has gone up x millions and with Joel Campbell i,m sure Villa won,t play anywhere near the same system as Costa Rica did. I do think Villa have been under-acheiving for a long time tho and they are certainly due a good season

GL on the tables and with your diary. I,ll probably see you there as i,m starting to play 5p/10p after a bit of a break for last cpl of months

MP33 I would avoid Villa in any of your pre-season bets. Just don't think we will achieve anything until Mr Lerner gets his sale done. Then we may become a force again, hopefully not at the cost of our soul. Really don't want to become another Chelski or Man City. Not really started to study the ante-post yet but do think Hull have made a few good signings and that Jelavic and Long could be a quite potent strike force. Maybe worth a look on the Handicap. I will be posting all my footie bets throughout the season.
Played my usual session of 4 x 10nl tables and had a decent time. Did get some fool giving me a bit of grief in the chat-box. Started with him stating 'Trebor only plays hands JJ and better' to which I replied 'Oh no my secret's out'. He seemed to take exception to this and started to give me grief. I have to say that I don't mind this and love to be over nice to people like this and watch them get more and more wound up.
Have had a guess for the 'predict the time of the 800m hand. Went for a quite early slot at 17:45. Judging by the number of people at the tables tonight I can see this going quicker than some people think. Would be pretty cool if it was to last until show-time on ch861 and was busted live on TV.
Well deserved day off tomorrow and will be going to the cinema to watch the Planet of the Apes film. Really hope it is good as the reviews suggest.

What a wonderful summer this is turning out to be. Every night this week I have returned home from work and then ate my tea sat at the table in the garden, followed by a session of poker again sat in my garden. It amazes me how the British love to moan. OK it has been a bit humid at times but if you could give me this weather every day I would be a very happy man. But it would appear that for the majority of the British public, or at least the ones I meet, they aren't happy with the current weather. No it is now toooo hot. As I keep reminding them, give it a couple of months and I will be driving to work in the rain, in the dark. I will then drive home in the rain, in the dark. On my day off it will rain. People embrace this current hot, sunny spell, enjoy it while it lasts.
Went to see the new Planet of the Apes film, paid extra to watch it in the brand new, you will never of experienced anything like it, super duper new screen at my local Showcase. Basically paid extra to see it on a bigger screen. The film was good, quite different to Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Couldn't help thinking that Cesar looked a bit like Peter Reid. Would I recommend it, yes definitely. Is it a 5 star film, probably not.
Been playing on the 10nl tables to varying degrees of success. Would like people's thoughts on the following situation that keeps arising.
     1. Sat in late position / button. I have a hand that is in my pre-flop opening range, but is not huge, that I would raise with no action beforehand. A player limps into the pot before me, what would you do. Would you call, would you raise your standard opening raise, would you increase your standard opening raise.
     2. Same scenario but now 2 limpers before the action reaches you. What would you do.

Not played much these last 4 days as been acting GSM at work whilst boss is on hols. Decided last night to go on the Iphone app whilst I was lying in bed, struggling to nod off. As I was only single tabling decided to give PLO a try for a change. Joined a 10p/10p table and made just over £30 in half an hour. Will be entering the Main and Mini tonight and hope to hit the final table of at least 1.
Our lad is currently in Magaluf, 4 x 18yr old lads away from home for first time, and has so far survived the first 2 days. He currently works at Coral and started doing another little job as well. As a result the tax office have decided to clobber him, according to his pay slip that arrived today. So being the good dad I am I thought would try and get this sorted for him whilst he is away. Does anyone know a quick way to contact HMRC, as I have tried 12 phone calls at different times today and eventually, after being interrogated by a mechanical voice, been told we are very busy, soz, and goodbye. Then get cut off.

Been a bit stupid, rather really stupid, last couple of days. 3 days ago fancied a change after playing quite a lot of cash lately and so played 4 MTT's with very little success, bar a couple of bounties. I then decided that PLO8 was the game of choice. I have played this before and as there were no micro stake games available I decided to take a shot at 50pl PLO8, and ended up heads up with Fivanovic. This could off ended in complete disaster but after going a buy-in down managed to claw back to level. Then left table and ended up playing some 20pl PLO. Lost a bit of my role before seeing the light and standing up from table. Today I haven't ventured on to the tables and intend to return tomorrow evening for a small session before going out. I will be returning to the 10nl cash tables.
Still no luck with the selling of our house but have spent a day driving round to look at a few houses that had looked attractive. Had a shortlist of 8, looked at 7, discounted 7. Why do things never look the same in real life. Have found a relatively new estate of town houses in a very nice area that do appeal. The only problem is that the majority of the houses seem to be leasehold rather than freehold. I would prefer to buy freehold but wondered if anyone had an idea as to why there would be a majority of leasehold houses on this estate.
On holiday countdown now, finish work this time next week and then fly a week on Sunday. Really are looking forward to it now.
Will enter the new Premier promo on SkyPoker as it looks a really good promo. Basically play my normal amount of poker and maybe get some free stuff for doing that. Can't go wrong really.
Ended up with a profit in July of approx. £30, second month running made a profit.

So its nearly 6 months since the last post, how time flies, and here's a quick update of where we are at.

Poker - Played all sorts of games at all sorts of sites, from 50nl cash to 23PLO8 cash through MTT's, SNG's, DYM's and Spin and Go's. Played on here, Stars, Hills and PKR. Won some, lost some more. Findings - I can be good at poker when I really want to be, I can be shocking at poker and suffer from tilt when it ain't going good. The bad outweighs the good. The plan is to now stick to Sky and MTT's with a £5 or less buy in. Hence the resurrection of this thread. I find it really helps my discipline when I've regularly updated the diary in the past.

House moving - Finally had an offer that we have accepted on the house this last week. Looks like we have found a house we really like and have a second viewing booked for a week on Sunday, can't go any sooner as they have a big wedding this weekend. Have to say even though I have been scouring Rightmove for the last 12 months it has been a lot harder than I imagined to find the right house. Found the ideal really nice house in a nice area, Gomersal for those who know round here, and a very nice house in a really, really nice house, Lower Hopton. Probably plumping for Lower Hopton, location, location as the saying goes.

Football - Villa continue to struggle and I sometimes wonder how Mr Lambert is still in work. During his reign we have slowly got more and more negative and progressively worse. I do think we are in real danger this year and have visions of us reaching FA Cup final and getting relegated, just like Wigan. What I don't get is that every fan can see we are crying out for a creative midfielder and at long last he may have sorted that in Claude Gill from Valencia. We are also in desperate need of a winger and have one in the talented young kid Jack Grealish but Lambert insists in playing either Weiman or Gabby out of position. Just think we have a squad that is better than our current performances, 11 goals in premier league, and league position state.

Films - Go and see American Sniper if you haven't seen it yet. Excellent film.

Playin a couple of MTT's tonight will update later, wish me luck, I sure need it.

    Good luck mate
Also agree with everything you say about Villa.
