ty brrrrrr, even I can understand this! Glad we have some sort of sweat.
my thoughts from initial look Newbury 2.40 Trader Jack Tellevoi been running well in good races this year Burano-Trainers local track and good record there, ran twice this year in good races and baulked as making run both times. But will he be lucky tomoz. Newmarket 2.55 Aelos- Second to 2000 guineas winner and beat Parbold and miracle of Medinah last time after getting baulked. Newmarket 3.30 Eastern Impact -Ok it was on good to soft but 3rd to Rizeena last year not so good two races this season Nova Champ Stomp won easily 2 times this season Posted by vaigret
We didn't include and why should we have done,
but worse still I then didn't back it even after it was put up on Morning Line
In the one I entered, elsewhere, we failed to survive the first race, for, I think, the 2nd time.
We did manage to get 3 place tickets though to the 6th & Final Race though, in which we had 4 selections, so we looked in good shape for the Place pool, but we bricked it!

Maybe I read this wrong but surely your syndicate would have had 4 place lays in the same race to soften the blow.
I know its a larger syndicate so the placepot would not recover your losses (or even close to it) but still, even a small yield is better than a kick in the guts. Also the shorter the prices of the place lays, the greater the salvage job (if you're working to equal exposures in the way that a bot might)

The syndicate never did any place lays in the last, it would not be possible to organise it (as a syndicate) in so short a time, but several of the Members would have done so, I imagine. That was how we agreed to handle such a situation.
Most of us only had relatively small investments, we just treated it as a bit of fun (4 weeks now, & counting...), though one or two Members had serious sums invested.

Thinking about it, the main problem would be that you can never tell exactly what the placepot payout will be, though obvioulsy higher if Favs come unplaced.
Knowing my luck I'd go for the place lay, the costliest horse would place and my exposure would be greater than my share of the placepot

we need any of the horses to place in the remaining races to win some £££?
