It would be a great idea for Rich and Ross to do some gymnastic stunt.
Matt of course will judge and the winner will receive the inaugural Matt Bates Gymnastic Imaginery Trophy, similar to the prestigious Ross Jarvis awards for poker.
We know each other a bit from chatting on a daily basis and being in an environment of good players has really helped my game grow over the past 6 months i've been playing. Aimed towards newer players, how important do you think discussing the game is with known pros/other poker friends compared to trying to learn from videos/books etc?
Great show, well done Richard and Ross with a special thanks to Matt Bates for answering my question, as Richard said at the time, it puts into perspective how unrealistic some of our expectations are regarding cashing in tourneys, I play a maximum of 4/5 tourneys in an evening perhaps 5 times a week(sometimes far fewer, dependent on Sats.), yet expect to cash at least once every night, even my limited maths ability can see that is above you expected rate of 15%. Your point about the level at which you cash is also very true, I often adjust my game for the worst just to min cash, whereas I would be better busting out more and getting heavier cashes the times I don't bust out.

Good show mate, but I see they didn't stretch the budget to applying make-up for you... they just let you use your own. Check your contract next time
matt, you play an enviable style of poker, how did you find it? did you evolve from a tighter style over time or did you just start as a LAG, and how did it happen? Posted by GELDY
when you get a chance matt, would love to know how you got to playing your current style. meanwhile great having you on the show - oh and have you been down to the gym recently, or is the perceived widening due to an increase in gastronomic tendencies, or maybe an artefact of the tv camera, or perhaps a figment of my imagination. thoughts?

Spent the last couple of days trying to deceiver the big words Geldy used! (Will answer your question tonight Geldy)
I am struggling to work out what questions I haven't answered. Please can people bump their questions so I know which ones I need to answer. Happy, within reason, to answer any other questions people have.

Thought you were great on that show Matt, was nice to see some key hands from the roller with your thoughts on your play, would be great if Sky could pick other fellow crushers and do it again.

My style has evolved over time mainly through experience and coaching from Marc Wright. I have found knowing when to be aggressive is key, not saying I always get it right as I don't but on the whole it does me well. I do think your playing style should be worked on constantly and you need to be aware of current trends in MTTs and on certain sites and where possible stay one step ahead of things.
Regarding your other comment, I spend far too much time in front of the laptop and not enough time doing exercise. That's one thing I need to sort out asap!

Agreed. Thought this was particularly insightful. I'd like to see us follow another tournament victor next time for maybe a couple of hours, getting their thoughts as they played the hands.
I'm happy to analyse my £2.20 Deepstack win if there aren't any takers... ;-)
