I have been to Vegas 4 times now, twice on my own and twice with friends. Can definitely say I enjoyed it on my own more, can play to your own schedule and do what ever you want without worrying about others.
On your own its easier to get a seat at a bar or a restaurant and found I met more people on my own than when in a group. People are more inclined to talk to you when you are sitting at a bar/restaurant/gambling than interrupt a group of people talking. By people I mean HOT american chicks.
I was sceptical about going on my own at first but was a great decision in the end. If you get bored/lonely at anytime you can see a show/concert (will be easier to get a ticket for 1), wander the hotels & strip or do any number of things, you could easily fill your time.
Anyway I'm sure you can meet up with some of the other Sky regs.
PS you may also come back with a shiny new bracelet!!!
PPS the cash games are super soft so can pick up a bit of extra spending money.
I decided to book my flights over the weekend, no going back now.
Did slightly change my plans though, decided to miss the COLOSSUS (don't fancy negotiating my way through 20,000 players) and am going to play the 'Lucky Sevens' - Event 66 of the WSOP. Couple of omens in that event number alone; Route 66 was my favourite ever holiday and obviously 1966 Bobby Moore and that. I'm clutching at straws...
Don't suppose anyone else is planning to play that? I'm only playing it as it's the only other WSOP tournament in my budget but I don't really understand the selling point behind it? To me it just seems another standard NLH tourney with a catchy name and a <$1000 buy-in to attract the masses.
We'll see, hopefully i'll return with a bracelet or at least some good memories.
I think that the Lucky Sevens tournie is around the time that Sky VLV package winners will be out there so you'll have no problem finding some people to meet up for a few drinks with!

Hi Grintler.
Just be aware that the $777 Buy-In "Lucky 7's" is a Re-Entry Tournament.
It will have two starting flights, 10am & 6pm.
Levels are 40 minutes on Day One (that is VERY fast for a WSOP Event) & 1 hour from Day 2 onwards.
You get 5,000 starting chips, with levels beginning at 25-50.
Just won a package thank you sky for the amazing opportunity, cannot wait and trying to book flights ASAP it seems that flying from machester is £500 return whereas from London its £750+ . Would appreciate any advice as im closer to London but maybe fly out from manchester and fly back into London would be optimal.

Assumed it would be the package dates so had a mooch around, can't see anything that shouts out at me.
Its gonna come down to your personal preferences. A lot of people always say to fly direct regardless of cost, but if you can save a couple hundred and get a reasonable indirect flight its not the end of the world.
You can go direct from Manchester for £786 with Thomas Cook, or from London direct for £855 with BA but under the US Airways banner (it's BA planes!). So if London is much more convenient for you, then that latter fare is a no brainer over the Thomas Cook flight.
If you wanna get there as cheap as possible, the £500 flights from Manchester are actually a pretty good price considering we're well into May already. The one that jumps out at me is £511, and uses United Airlines going out, via NY, and Swiss Air coming back via Zurich. Whilst indirect isn't ideal, it does mean you'll land at Vegas as a domestic passenger and avoid all the immigration lines there.
No idea if you drive, but airport parking can be pretty cheap at Manchester. I might have a discount code as well if you want me to dig it out. Advance train ticket also another option if you live on a decent rail route. But the flight does leave at 09.30, so you might wanna factor getting in the day before and staying in a hotel in Manchester.
Sorry I'm not much help and I'm kinda sitting on the fence! If you wanna get there as cheaply as possible then plump for the Manchester flight. If you think, meh I'm only there for a week and wanna make the most of that time with minimum hassle, then go for that direct London flight.
Ps, I did look at flying out from Manc and back to London but again nothing of much note was available.
Edit....the best I could see is out from Manchester with US Airways via Chicago and back to London direct on BA for £767.
Thanks so much, that £511 deal does look good, is this on united airlines website? Think avoiding immigration queues are a bonus of indirect so will definitely factor that into the equation

Yeah, another good aspect of that flight is that it doesn't leave Vegas on the 5th until 19.45, so you have bags of time on the last day to play a bit of cash or do your bo1l1ocks on the slots.
A lot of indirect flights back to Manchester leave early, around 9am or even earlier, which just wouldn't be a fun way to end your holiday. I think you get a 4th July party as part of the package, so imagine filling your boots at that then having to get up at 5am for a flight home, gross!
The wait at NY is 4 hours, so you could feasibly be waiting in immigration for half of that, but this is then offset by the fact when you land at Vegas at 19.00 you roll off the plane and straight into a cab with no messing about.
Website is Tripsta.co.uk. Put in the dates and then on the results page, scroll down to the 8th result which is £511.37. There are flights that are literally a couple of quid cheaper, but as above they leave Vegas at 9am, which for me is a big no no!

JJJohnson, just a heads up that I have a 15% off code for parking at Manchester Airport, if you plump for that flight and will be driving there. Give me a yell if you want it
Thanks, I tried to find train times up to manchester as I don't drive but nothing worked, then Irishrose pointed me towards a virgin airmiles deal which made london direct flights £750 instead of £1k+. Thanks so much for your efforts the sky community is the best! Looking forward to it

Nice one, that's a solid price for those flights. VA are very good IMO as well, prefer them over BA for the Vegas directs.
A few hours now to the start of the 2015 WSOP with the $565 Casino Employee's event, as usual, being Event Number 1. Updates from the WSOP will be awaited but as I don't expect to recognise many names in this field I don't think there will be too much interest in it!
The WSOP have taken the updates in-house this year after PokerNews doing them for a number of years, so we'll see if this is an improvement or a backward step!
Cards are in the air and we have some action in the first of the 500 (or so it seems) bracelet events at this year's WSOP.
As mentioned previously, it is the Casino Employees' Event which gets us underway, and so far we have 629 players shown as entered, one of whom is Dana Castaneda. Who she? In 2013, she became the first female player other than Vanessa Selbst to win an open bracelet event since a good few years.
Later, event 2 (a $5K No Limit Hold'em tournament) gets under way, and hopefully a few more familiar names will appear on the first full report tomorrow morning UK time.
As my work situation varies from day to day, the standard pattern of updates will be a brief preliminary posting early in the morning giving a few details, and a more detailed post (or maybe editing the original post) lunchtime or shortly after once the day's play has finished and the full details of chip counts etc are available.
WSOP 1 - $565 Casino Employee's NLH, Day 1 of 2, 688 entrants
The first event of the series is one of the restricted events, open only to Casino Employees (not just from Vegas, but worldwide). Jack Effel made the traditional "Shuffle Up And Deal" speech to a field of 688 players, down from last years 876 (when the entrance fee was $500)
Last year's winner Roland Reparejo, the 2013 champ Chad Holloway and fellow 2013 bracelet winner Dana Castaneda were among the hopefuls.
The bubble burst late in level 14 (of 15 played today), and halfway through the last level, about 60 players remained. by the time chips were bagged, that number was down to 51 and as you would expect it is a list of unfamiliar names who make up the final 51. None of the previous bracelet winners made it through, nor did David Tuchman who I also saw mentioned in dispatches.
Blake Robbins had been leading almost all day, but in the last level he was passed by Stephen Gilbert. No Brits left, in fact apart from a couple of Canadians, it's a US-only group playing for the bracelet tomorrow.
WSOP 2 - $5000 NLH, Day 1 of 4, 416 entrants
For many, the WSOP really started four hours later with the first open event. A hefty $5K buyin was stumped up by 422 players. Last years equivalent event was far later in the series (Event 49) where nearly 700 individuals were in play, with the winner being David Miscikowski. He won't be repeating that win as he was bust midway through the day.
Current Main Event Champion Martin Jacobson and former Main Event winners Phil Hellmuth, Greg Merson, Joe Cada, Jonathan Duhamel, Carlos Mortensen and Ryan Reiss were in action, as were Brits including John Gale (showing from Bushey Heath, Estonia!), Max Silver, Chris Moorman, Stephen Chidwick and Jake Cody among others.
Darryl Ronconi led the 171 qualfiiers for Day 2 (45 will be paid) with German (but regular on the UK circuit) Ludovic Geilich not far behind.
Plenty of other Brit interest too, Seb Saffari lies inside the Top 10, whle still standing were all the UK players listed above with the exception of Silver, plus the likes of Oliver Price, Simon Deadman, Roberto Romanello & Patrick Leonard. International "names" with a decent stack - last years ME winner Martin Jacobsen, former ME winner Greg Merson, ex-November Niner Joseph Cheong, Jonathan Jaffe, inaugural One Drop winner Antonio Esfandiari, Martin Finger, Andy Frankenberger & Faraz Jaka.
A little bit further down you have Jacobson's heads up victim Felix Stephensen, other "Niners" Jeremy Ausmus, Dan Sindelar & Jay Farber, and more ME winners in Jonathan Duhamal & Philip Helmuth Jr
To start today WSOP3 - $1500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or better WSOP4 - $3000 No Limit Hold'em Shootout (both scheduled to be 3 day events)
WSOP 1 - $565 Casino Employee's NLH, Day 1 of 2, 688 entrants The first bracelet of the year has gone to Brandon Barnette who beat Greg Seiden heads-up. WSOP have given no information about him whatsoever, so thanks to Bluff who have told us that he is a poker supervisor at the Pachenga Casino in California, and is a World Champion roller hockey player.
WSOP 2 - $5000 NLH, Day 1 of 4, 422 entrants Despite there being plenty of big name British players in overnight, the disappointing news is that none of them were able to cash. 20 players made day 3, Greg Merson amongst them along with Doc Sands and Amir Lehavot among others. The chip leader is Carl Westcott, less than 1 Big Blind ahead of Artur Koren. Those who cashed but have since hit the rail include most of the names in yesterdays update (Frankenberger, Ausmus, Stephensen, Sindelar etc.)
WSOP 3 - $1500 Omaha Hi-Low Day 1 of 3, 918 entrants The first non-Hold'em bracelet event with 358 of the 918 making day 2. Tony Ma is the chip-leader, ahead of someone who I seem to remember Tikay has a lot of time for, Taylor Paur. Top Brit (well sort of) at the end of Day 1 appears to be Chris Bjorin, with Richard Ashby & Adam Owen still standing. Others still in with a shout include Max Pescatori, Maria Ho (twice last woman standing in the Main Event), Allen Cunningham, Jeff Madsen & John Monnette.
WSOP 4 - $3000 NLH Shootout, Day 1 of 3, 308 entrants All of the 40 first round tables have now been completed but there are a couple of stragglers, so again this will be updated when all is done and dusted. With such a small percentage of players making Day 2 compared to most other events, the casualty list is a long one - Josh Arieh, Jonathan Duhamel, Ryan Reiss, Phil Laak, Justin Bonomo, Andy Bloch, David Benefield, Erick Lindgren, Jason Mercier etc. The last player knocked out was defending champion Kory Kilpatrick, whose heads-up match with Cory Lieblein had lasted 6 hours and finished just after 3am.
Those who did win their original tables are Jacob Balsinger, Carlos Mortensen. Joe Cada, Doug Polk, Jason Somerville and actor James Woods. Craig McCorkell and Phliip McAllister are the only two Brits standing. Day 2 will consist of 10 4-handed tables, with the winners re-convening on Saturday to play for the bracelet. To start today WSOP5 - Colossus $565 NLH with re-entries in later flights. If the WSOP can pull this one off without major chaos, I'll doff my hat to them.
So the Colossus has started, both flights today and the first flight tomorrow have sold out, there are still vacancies for the late flight tomorrow and all the "late entry" waves that will happen at two points in each flight. There was apparently an elimination on the first hand, some flopped a set of kings and was busted.
At 40 minute levels live it's going be a very fast paced structure, and expect eliminations to come thick and fast.
Justin Bonomo @JustinBonomo 4h4 hours ago 7 hours into this $25k tourney and a player was just escorted out. He paid for the $125 tourney, got the wrong ticket, and kept quiet.
WSOP 2 - $5000 NLH, Day 1 of 4, 422 entrants We have the 2nd bracelet winner of the 2015 series, Michael Wa ng who beat 2014 bracelet winner Bryn Kenney heads-up. 2012 ME winner Greg Merson came 4th, with another November Niner, Amir Lehavot also on the final table. (Space in winner's surname added to prevent the over-zealous profanity filter rejecting the post).
The hand I briefly alluded to on the previous version of this post - 8 left, blinds 12K/24K. Merson opens to 55K, Long Nguyen raises to 155K from the BB and Merson calls. Merson has pocket Jacks, Nguyen the Aces. The flop comes J-K-A giving them both a set. Nguyen bets 250K, Merson calls. The flop comes the case jack, giving Merson quads and his opponent Top Full House. The money all goes in, the river is a King (improving Nguyen's House) but Merson makes the KO and Nguyen is eliminated in 8th.
WSOP 3 - $1500 Omaha Hi-Low Day 1 of 3, 918 entrants 49 players have made Day 3 with Kelley Vandemheen the chip leader with 466K. He leads a bunch of largely unfamilar names, but Robert Mizrachi and John Monette are among those lurking in the midfield.
No Brits remain (in fact German Tobias Hausen is the only European still in contention). Chris Bjorin did make a min-cash.
WSOP 4 - $3000 NLH Shootout, Day 1 of 3, 308 entrants We're down to a final table of 10, unfortunately neither of the GB Macs involved yesterday (McCorkell & McAllister) made it through, but actor James Woods did (his was the last table to finish, after a long heads up battle with Doug Polk) so the rail should be pretty good tomorrow for this one
WSOP5 - $565 Colossus NLH Day 1A & 1B
The biggest live poker tournament has finished play for the day, with flights A & B bagged up. Total entries so far is over 23000 but some of those will be refunded as players entered all 4 flights and if they got through their later buy-ins will be returned.
Plenty of bracelet holders (including WSOP ME champions) took part with the likes of Antonio Esfandiari, Ryan Riess, Leif Force, George Danzer, Phil Hellmuth & Vanessa Selbst among the players knocked out today and will probably try again tomorrow. For some of these, it's probably quite some time since they played a tournament with this low of buy-in, so the Colossus has attracted both the amateurs and the big time pros alike.
804 from Flight A and 710 from Flight B have made Day 2
Players marked as "GB" through (though of course that is no guarantee that they are British!)
Flight A - Albert Leshko, Louis Salter, Andrew Hills, Oluwashola Akindele, Lee Barrett, Iain Paterson & Gary Hurst
Flight B - Kerryjane Craigie (with one of the ten biggest stacks), Niall Farrell, Igor Khvorov, Darren Mapley, Chris Moorman (who took a hit to his stack late on), Suryakant Patel, Charles Chattha & Gary Bertram
To Start Today None, but days 1C & 1D of the Colossus are scheduled.
I believe hhyrfrtrytrtyyrdr was planning to play the Colossus, but as I don't know his real name I've no way of looking for him. No sign of any other Sky players in the results so far, but I'm keeping my eyes peeled.

Hope you enjoy it.

WSOP5 - Colossus $565 NLH with re-entries in later flights. If the WSOP can pull this one off without major chaos, I'll doff my hat to them.
At 40 minute levels live it's going be a very fast paced structure, and expect eliminations to come thick and fast.
We have the 2nd bracelet winner of the 2015 series, Michael Wa ng who beat 2014 bracelet winner Bryn Kenney heads-up.
WSOP 3 - $1500 Omaha Hi-Low Day 1 of 3, 918 entrants
49 players have made Day 3 with Kelley Vandemheen the chip leader with 466K. He leads a bunch of largely unfamilar names, but Robert Mizrachi and John Monette are among those lurking in the midfield.
No Brits remain (in fact German Tobias Hausen is the only European still in contention). Chris Bjorin did make a min-cash.
WSOP 4 - $3000 NLH Shootout, Day 1 of 3, 308 entrants
We're down to a final table of 10, unfortunately neither of the GB Macs involved yesterday (McCorkell & McAllister) made it through, but actor James Woods did (his was the last table to finish, after a long heads up battle with Doug Polk) so the rail should be pretty good tomorrow for this one
