Good effort TK, but not the answer I was after. It is much more direct than that.

Couple more clues. The "/" is used (as part of the name of a poker variant) . The first word is GET.

So once again the anagram below:

 That was a proper slog. The last hand of game 1 I had KQ vs AA for Thoich and I made a straight. Then I had a chance to go 2-0 but he rivered a straight. Went to a decider and the whole match lasted 90 minutes. Finally ran my 66 into AA and bust.

 You played a great game Thoich...no fun playing you, too much thinking needed. Best of luck in the rest of the event.

The answer to the anagram challenge is:

GET A PLO H/L NLHE DOUBLE  :=)

Very well done, you pretty much got there, just the ordering which could be debated. The "H/L" in place of "8" may have caught a few out.
