I will probably do a Placepot with the conclusion of the results from this.


Placepot may be quite hard but could pay OK dividend, as only the first two count in the 7 runner fields.

Feel free to do your own too if you want.

    Hi, here is the shortlist for Thurs 20th April 2017 at NEWMARKET (ROWLEY)

    Removers, your task is to REMOVE TWO FROM EACH LEG (12 SELECTIONS TOTAL) of those highlighted in LIGHT BLUE.

    These will count for JACKPOT AND PLACEPOT.

    Please post your selections on THIS thread in the normal format: (Please mark own score after)

    Please post no later than one hour before the first race. You can make amendments (IN RED) up to 15 minutes before the off of the first race. (So worth having a late look for drifters)

    Remover's Point System below:

    Using the odds in the LATEST column from the ABOVE spreadsheet, you apply the following rules:

    JACKPOT POINTS:

    Successfully remove a 5/1 shot or less (5 points)
    Successfully remove a 11/2 to 15/2 shot (4 points)
    Successfully remove a 8/1 to 11/1 shot (3 points)
    Successfully remove an 12/1 shot or bigger (2 points)

    If your removal wins at 12/1 or bigger (minus 10 points)
    If your removal wins at 8/1 to 11/1    (minus 8 points)
    If your removal wins at 11/2 to 15/2   (minus 6 points)
    If your removal wins at 5/1 or less     (minus 5 points)

    The price used to determine the points will be that in "THE LATEST" column, as this is the best info available at the time the JACKPOT/PLACEPOT is placed.

    I have decided that IF the card is not too competitive and that there are several small fields, that we MAY consider not having a BANKER. However IF we do this it is likely that we will have TWO legs with just TWO runners.

    After I get back everyone's selections, I hope to be able to break it down to this.

    Yes it is a bit of fun Vaigret, although when we go live, it will be a very important thing, which is why I want people to get used to finding losers, rather than focus on picking winners during the trials.

    The old saying goes, if we can find enough losers, the winners will look after themselves. Well maybe it's not a saying lol, but something that I believe is relevant for our strategy. :=)

    The right or wrong removal, can, and will I am sure, have a  tremendous impact on our success, which is part of the reason why, myself and others are putting in so much effort on these trial runs.

    I very much appreciate those that have fed back into this and/or helped and supported in other ways.

    I left Windfast (3.00pm) out because it's RP price was 6/1, but 10/1 is now available, however, upon your recommendation, I will put it back in (in dark blue) and monitor any market moves on it.

    It will not be available to pick as a removal however, as some people have already made their entries and won't have time to change. I will however go solely on market support to determine if it will factor in our perm.

    On this point if anyone else thinks something that I have not highlighted needs consideration, please mention it and I will highlight it in DARK BLUE. I will also add horses (IN DARK BLUE) if they were not previously selected and there is late market support for them.

    The opening post has been updated accordingly.

    The 4.10 is very tough from a removals perspective, (almost impossible not to get some negative Placepot points at least), but also good practice, as in the future, we may be forced into a situation like this to reduce the perm size.

    If you look at the race cards on the Racing Post website, and in the top right corner you will see a dropdown listing different bookmakers, but you can also configure it to "BEST ODDS".

    Then when you click on the odds, it shows you (using oddschecker data) the different prices for that horse with the various bookmakers. It is easy and quicker than keep going to the oddschecker website and the data is from the same source.

    Just as a point of note, I did the initial spreadsheet too early, as the racing post have updated their betting forecast since.

    So when doing this for real, I won't create the initial spreadsheet until after midnight.
