Thanks a lot in advance for taking the time to help out us lesser mortals. I generally play in the £2.20 deepies & seem to do ok ish (Won 10 or so now)  - only been playing poker for 3 months but everytime I try to switch to cash it goes horribly wrong. I've read lots about being tight aggro especially at 2p/4p but this doesnt seem to work for me as either I sit there for hours watching the grass grow, get a hand, bet biggish and gain 6p as everyone folds as obvious I got a good hand. Alternative is get big hand and bet small(ish) say 12p - I then get 5 callers with any 2 cards which individually I'm ahead of but collectively will lose to most of the time. Ok, lets try something else - widening my range - now not got such a good hand post flop - C-betting seems to be a rude word & doesnt seem to work anyway as I just cant get rid of the fl/str drawers or bottom pair etc. Last alternative - cant beat em join em start playing J90 etc. Sure this isnt good 4 my game long term not to mention the more important aspect of I'm not enjoying it! To sum up - I find myself playing a quite wide range - j10+ any pair 67+ suited connectors & folding unless I hit big - no moves seem to work as no one thinks about the oppos play (probably guilty of this myself). All in all quite dissatisfying. Whats with the raggy Aces???? theres usually at least 5 people playing these every hand unless i got KK then there are 15 of em. Any tips would be appreciated

hi plop & ty for the question .

the downloadable version of skypoker will be out in a few weeks ,
so my advice is try muti table cash 2p/4p.

anytime i made money grinding on 2p/4p cash
i found you need to be very tight & very aggressive in any hand you choose to play .
now with the downloadable you will be able to play 4 -6  tables easy ,
    hence more action ,
so you wont need to watch the grass grow .

but beware of tilt if multi tabling ,
close all tables down if you are straying from your  tight /aggro plan .

      Hi clinic peeps ,

Just copying  this lot over it may be of use to newbies who dont read blogs .

    (  1. Soft tables dym & s&g & sharkscope )

                                                                                                          DYM = DOUBLE YOUR MONEY

    SOFT TABLES IN SHARKSCOPE

Fail to prepare , prepare to fail .

A lot of valuable info may be gained for free on sharkscope .

Before you go and play your dym or s&g games,

    try the following >>

Open up sharkscope home page ,

click on log in top right of page .

Click on register here , put in your email address & your preferred password .

No credit card or cash need change hands .

You will get 5 free searches every day & can keep track of how many free searches you have used ,

by viewing lower end of home page .

Click on tournament selector on left side of page .

Very important : click on little tick window box ( advanced search )

Note tournament selector window says (free) so

this does not count in the 5 searches you are allowed,

unless you click on players names or tables that pop up .

Now there are a lot of window boxes in this tournament selector page .

    Lets try simplify it .

Search window : this is your fishing rod ,

use this when you have set what game type you would like to fish for .

Any difficulty window : for now just leave this on said setting any difficulty.

Very important : if you subscribe for 1 year to sharkscope you get 150 searches a day .

You can open tables & players stats & fine tune your searches .

This works out at less than £8 a month

or two cashes in  £5 dym games will cover this investment  .

so it worthwhile to consider this , but no pressure free option is there & quiet good it is .

Now if you have any difficulty with above just pm me ,post here or catch me in forum , we will then meet up on a freeplay table in skypoker ,

open up sharkscope & sort you from there .

    Hi clinic peeps ,

Just copying  this lot over it may be of use to newbies who dont read blogs .

    Deep stack tournament

( note players for banknotes in your pocket  )

Some simple advice on how to play a deep stack tournament.

    Early stage / 1st quarter

    ( play patiently )

Evaluate your opponents at your table,

ask yourself the following questions as the game progresses :

which one of these players can you bluff later on ?

( stealing early on is not necessary, unless you find you have got yourself in to a big pot )

Which player can you trap / flat call & let him/her ship their chips over to you.

( your looking here for a very aggressive player )

Which of these players are tight , tricky & best avoided in the early stages.

( watch out for players laying down small blinds early on , check raising or

    trapping on river )

Take lots of notes on players & then some more .

See more flops if its cheap enough to call, and try not to get involved in large pots if its too risky .

In deep stack tournaments its often good to limp or call small raises with hands that have large implied value such as suited connectors or pocket pairs.

If these hands hit, they can often give your stack a very healthy boost and lead to a deep run in the tournament.

When the blinds are cheap and your stack is large have some fun and see a lot of flops cheaply,

if you hit a set or a flush/straight then get aggressive. The big stack gives you a lot of time before you have to shift gears.

With deep stack play you have the ability to play a little looser without risking such a high percentage of your stack.

Playing to tight isn't a very good strategy early on as you can see a lot of cheap flops and build a stack whilst risking very little of it.

    2nd quarter

If you find yourself short stacked , you must change gears ,

    be more aggressive .

Loosing up in starting hands ,

see a lot more flops & bet out more aggressively .

Use your notes now to help you steal pots or lay down your hand .

If your mid stacked or find you have the luxury of a big stack be tight / aggressive .

Try avoid any other big stacked players , there is plenty of time to mess with these players later on in tournament .

As new players come to your table or you go to a new table, continue taking notes .

    3rd quarter

Time now to move up another gear .

You must become more aggressive preflop .

Remember using your notes on players,

bully the low stacks in to mistakes ,

try trap the mid stacks & avoid the other big stacks ,

unless you got a huge hand .

If you find yourself card dead , don't let your stack dwindle away ,

use position ( last to act  ) to steal .

    4th quarter / final table

If your short stacked , pick a decent hand & push like a mum to be .

If you are mid stacked , remain alert & aggressive .

You need to be looking around now & decide who you can or can not bully .

On the final table check your stack against the blinds & the other players .

Depending on how you are doing , you must set yourself a target and play for it .

Good luck in your next deep stack .

p.s. As always Any questions or advice you want pm me & I will do my best to help you out .

     Hi clinic peeps ,

Just copying  this lot over it may be of use to newbies who dont read blogs .

    Micro Cash tables 2p/4p ( nl4 )

( finding that hot seat )

Open up 6 micro cash tables .

Play just premium hands AA / KK / QQ/ AK SUITED ,

    maybe limp with JJ & AQ /AJ / A 10 SUITED & any pairs .

Now have your eyes popped yet lol .

Ok now after about 15 mins close down 2 tables/seats that you feel are cold seats,

hence getting bad cards or silly out draws .

    Now you have 4 tables,

give yourself another 15 mins all the time thinking which

one of these tables will I close next .

when 15 mins is up close your coldest table/seat down .

    3 tables left ,

once again give your self 15 mins ,

same as before all the time thinking which one

of these tables will I close next .

15 mins up close your coldest table/seat down .

Now from here you have 2 tables  left ,

play for 2 hours on both these tables &

    do the following :

    Note players starting cards,

when they come to show down.

Even when you are not in the pot .

Note what he/she bet or did preflop with this hand .

All the info is in the chat /cards log in table .

The quicker you get notes on the players in the table ,

the better your decision will be later.

    Notes on players :

    ( quick example )

he/she cant lay down on poor holdings / save your cash don't try bluff him/her,

but when you have the goods get them to  pay you big .

Her/his ½ pot bet on river is a very good hand .

You need to lay down & save your cash .

    He/she is a huge bluffer ,

put the trap in place ,

flat call & use half timer all the way through

the streets & trap on river if in position .

Sometimes here it is even best to check on river ,

when the bluffer has still to act .

He/she is very tight & will lay down to a 3/4 pot bet,

if a scare card comes down .

When your not in a hand , time should be spent on notes & more notes .

Now 2 hours on these two tables & the 45 mins  used on  the other 4 ,

in total time spent 2 hrs 45 mins & lots of info / fun & cash hopefully lol .

    Its time for a break.

After a hour or two repeat same process again ( open 6 tables e.t.c )

Now if you find its not working out,

abort mission lol & try again at

    a later date .

Good luck on cash tables note watching always watching lol  .

      Hi clinic peeps ,

Just copying  this lot over it may be of use to newbies who dont read blogs .

     brm = bankroll management

                                                                                                        br = bankroll

Bankroll management , tilt & treats

( no more cash deposits for you )

    Bankroll management

Good brm this is the most important of all things to master in poker ,

without this you have very little control of your poker destiny .

Master this & hopefully you will never have to redeposit cash

    in your poker account again.

    HOW ?

Forget about putting £10 here & £5 there  in your account,

or after the Friday night bottle of wine or a few cans throwing £20

on a cash table , all above a  defo  no no .

Wait until you have £100 to deposit,

view this as a long term investment in your

    very own poker skills .

    Now from your £100 br,

dont bring in more than 2% - 3 %   to play mtt games .

( unless its a monthly treat see below)

    4% on dym games .

Don't spread more then 10% of your br across 6 cash tables at once .

( note previous blog on time frame for this )

    8% across 4 cash tables ,

    4% across 2 tables &

2% on just one cash table .

Follow these rules & you are giving your self ever chance

to ride out the bad runs,

that will defo happen to you in poker .

    Treats

Only if you find your br is growing ,

should you do the following .

If you had a good month & say your br is now above £150,

reward & treat yourself to a monthly once off  bigger buy in for a £11 .

You may get lucky & boost your br big time .

Tilt ( the devil is in your ear lol )

Every poker player has gone on tilt one time or another .

You feel hard done by & react by giving away more cash ,

how silly is that lol .

A lot of money can be lost,

especially in cash tables when one goes on tilt .

Here is what you do ,

    " take a break they say "

easier said then done but yet it is the best option if you can.

If you find you cant  & there is still a long night ahead &

you were really looking forward to playing some hands,

    then do the following ----->

Drop down to dym 30p or 60p games open up 5 or 6 tables ,

now your head will be so pickled with tables popping up

you can a have a bit of fun & sway your self off tilt .

Relax , chill ,open a bottle lol , you will be back

to catch that lucky so & so at a later date .

    I really would recommend that

    if it is cash tables,

that set you on tilt ,

don't play cash again until the next day .

    So in summary :

    1. Good br management / no need to redeposit again.

    2. Reward your br self discipline with monthly mtt treats .

    3. Tilt is for mugs , don't let it ruin your fun .

    4. Enjoy endless nights of poker entertainment from

    your initial deposit of £100.

    Term & conditions apply .

After depositing my second but last £50 in skypoker 3 years ago ,

note i have no interest in playing mid/high stakes games ,

my treats were family holidays , family hotel breaks & for the kids , wii , play stations ,flat screen tv  & so on .

For raver a new set of frying pans every xmas ,

    cough ,

ok ok every few months .

just  follow my poker guides & your in lol .

On a serious note pm me if you need help or more detail on any of the above  .
