Sky Poker Forums is upgrading its look! Stay tuned for the big reveal!
The Sky Poker Wine & Dining Club!!...[wtf,lol]
I love a nice bottle of red with my dinner.
A couple of cheap recommendations that are easily available in supermarkets......
Mas O Menos Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon
Campo Viejo Spanish Rioja
Both of these are around the £5/6 mark and quite easy to drink.
For a more expensive choice.....
Valdiviesco Caballo Loco No.9 which is Chilean. Had my first bottle of this a couple of weeks back, very nice but is around £20 per bottle.

Quite A few years ago, before I discovered Poker, lol, I discovered Wine!
It stems from probably, a felt need to levitate myself from 'The Ghetto', to the upper echelons of lifes pleasures!!
Thus, The Hitman, stepped back from the brink cycle of lager, guinness, shots & Kebabs for fun, to a more refined companion to the food that i so enjoy!!
Hopefully this will not be looked at as a snobby or boastful thread, a I merely wish to ask the community to share with me any experiances, good or bad, they may have had in this wine/eating out area!!
Please post up any good Wine & dining secrets you may have found, so all may consider or try!! I shall share some of mine, but later on.
Tonight I shall be taking The Hitwife, to Benares Restaurant in Berkeley Square, for a wine-tasting Dinner from the NZ Felton Road Co, Central Otago, [a favoured region of mine], to be hosted by the owner & his Daughter, I shall let u know how it goes!!
Wine-tastings, what fun, like listening to a top poker presenter explainin the intricacies of bet sizin, board texture, [terrior maybe] !!
Anyhow enough for now, suprise me people, dont even mind if DohhhH pops on to share a Stella with me !!
Ty Acid, will have a look in ma Waitrose when I get a mo. Is the Loco no. 9 a Carmenere? Mate of mine swears by those!! Will try & track down, ta!!
For something with a little more bite I too am a Cabernet Sauvignon man don't care who makes it.
Your thread reminds me of a funny but true story.
About 15 years ago I was elected to the executive council of the trade union I was a member of and they had all their executive meetings in London. Not knowing London then I arranged to stay with others from the Northern Regions near Hyde Park. On the 1st evening they took me to their favorite restaurant which was close to the hotel and it was a Chinese. Well I did not fancy Chinese so I had the Gammon from their English selection. The Gammon arrived and it looked very nice so I proceeded to tuck in and to my horror it tasted awful and was unchewable so I summoned the waiter over and said " this Gammon is Rubbery" the waiter said thank you very much sir and walked off with a smile on his face.
Hmmm from that day to this this is still referred to when I meet the people I was with that night. Ho I did eventually get through to the waiter and I was not charged for the meal lol.
So what have you learned well if you go to Chinese restaurant order Chinese food of course lol
along with the shopping at Waitrose its starting to get hard to like you!

The Garraferira, did not know so looked up, and found it is a term or description in Portugal of a quality wine, aged for a min of 2 years then 1 in a bottle for a RED, and 6 months & 6 months for a white! So only Portugals mainly finest wines can be put in this catagory, Blimey learn summat new every day !!
"Valdivieso, Originally Chiles biggest sparklin producer, now better known for its still wines. since arrival of NZ winemaker Brett Jackson the quality has been pushed up a couple of levels!! It's premium Blend CABALLO LOCO is made by a solera system thus carries no vintage date, it usually contains about 50% of the previous years blend"
