PLEASE NOTE: REGISTRATION HAS NOW CLOSED

A new Monday-night league for the month of September...

Put simply, it's an extension to the Forum DTD, adding the 8pm main event and the 8:15pm mini event to the mix. That's right, five tournaments in one night. Multi-tabling mayhem ftw!

Want to play? Your performance in all five events will be assessed, giving you a weekly  "score" - and it's your best three "scores" that count.

    Here are the rules:

    * You need to register for The Extender in this thread. Registration closes at 7pm on Monday 12th September.

    * The league runs on Monday nights from 5th - 26th September inclusive.

    * You must play all five tournaments (the three DTD events, the 8pm main event and the 8:15pm mini event) to earn a qualifying score.

    * You must play at least three out of the four weeks that the promotion is running to qualify for the league.

    * You will be scored on your finishing position in each tournament, so a low score is a good score.

    And the prizes:

    * Everyone who finishes above me in the final league table will receive free entry to the Forum DTD on Monday 3rd October.

    * The overall champion will receive free entry to the Forum DTD for every Monday in October PLUS free entry to the 8pm main event for the first week of the month (Monday 3rd - Sunday 9th October inclusive).

As ever, please ask if you have any questions.

Yeah same here. Plus my BR doesn't really allow for this kinda MTT action every week.

I play all 5 every Monday so it's definite yes from me :o)

It’s a fun idea and cool prize but that’s over £30 in entry fees and then there’s the secondary costs like therapy and new pants.

I don’t think the playing styles of bounty hunter and deepstack tournaments are complementary and the cross over play will infuriate regulars of both. The cool thing about the DTD is even though it’s cheap, people play tightly and respect a raise. I hope this addition (3/5) combined with the new DTD rules (best 2/3) doesn’t turn the evening into an over-agressive donkfest.

Perhaps it would be better to start a new multi-table event rather than jeopardise the brilliant one which we have.

I will second your comments. Why change a format that is working well!

    Hi Poppy,

I don't really understand how this promotion potentially "jeopardises" the Forum DTD.

This is purely an extension to Michael and Chris's hugely successful weekly competition; it bolts onto it, rather than replaces it. The so-called Chuckle Brothers will still run the Forum DTD and if players only want to participate in those three tournaments, that's fine and dandy.

This is a bit of added value for the action junkies who want to play a couple of extra events.

I appreciate it's not for everyone - and that the cost and number of tables may put people off - but it remains an option for the willing and able.

As I've said before, choice is a good thing.

    All the best,

    James.

    Have to agree

i like the idea.......but 5 tables is too hectic for me!!!!
  • edited August 2011
I can't see it being a problem tbh, if anything the DTD will gain a few more entrants.
  • edited August 2011
Great idea and as a few have said it could get a few new players in DTD...unfortunately there is absolutely no way I would be able to play 5 tables but good luck to all who do!

    :) xx
  • edited August 2011
Sorry mrJ i struggle with just the 3 tables atm, 5 would be too much for me, like the dragons say "im out" but will DTD as normal :-)

    Nice promotion - I'm in
  • edited August 2011
Im not a killjoy but i agree with ploppy and poppy here as to me its kinda like hijacking what is already a fantastic event , surely ya coulda started a NEW event maybe incorporating MAIN EVENT , MINI MAIN EVENT and TSP CLASSIC ?? thats far more in line with the bankrolls of players that this would appeal to xxx

Its NOT a moan its an OPINION , that ok??

Would love to play this but due to bankroll will most likely have to wait till nearer Christmas lol
  • edited August 2011
I don't get to play DTD anywhere near as often as I'd like to, but I think it will be interesting to see whether this builds DTD or whether an influx at the top end leads to some of those with smaller bankrolls/budgets dropping out.

    Good Forum People!!

As James has explained, this is in ADDITION, to the current 3 tourney DTD run so well by Chris & Michael!!

The Team DTD League will not change either, it will run as before with results from the original 3 tournies at lower buys  still do!!

This is just James adding some value to His monday nites, instead of clashing wiyh them as with the PLO league!

All the Forum DTD'ers should take this as a compliment to the success of OUR DTD Tournament!!

I for one, welcome it and see it as only strengthening the current position of the League!!

Hope everone can see this may only bring in more & better players, to our current Team tornament, WITH JAMES NEW TORNAMENT LEAGUE BEING AN INDIVIDUAL LEAGUE AS I SEE IT!!

    GL ALL

    RUN WELL & ENJOY!!!

This wont attract any "bigger" players to play DTD at all.

It might encourage 1 or 2 DTDers to enter the main and mini, but not the other way round.

Maybe the Main and Mini event regs will complain because too many DTD nits are entering their tournaments?

    Unlikely mind.

This is only good as more entrants = more prize money.

Only bad as you possibly get more players who know what they're doing and so you won't get as many lovely tables with 5 stations who you can just milk for an hour. Although I read a post earlier saying it's good as you get players in who 'might actually respect a raise' lolz at this.

    Hi James,

As I said I think it’s a fun idea and I’m sure people appreciate the prizes.

My concern is simply that some people playing 5 tables including two bounty hunters being aware that they only need 3 good results might see the cheapest tournaments (deepstacks) as the most expendable and therefore play like aggressive jerks looking to double up. That obviously isn’t in the spirit of the DTD which tends to be tight and respectful.

Not from where im sitting lol! Could i add, and im normally the first to nit pick lol, that i think this is a great idea, it runs seperate from the DTD but includes the games in its format, masterstroke. I dont believe players would treat any of the sections diferently, they need 3 good scores so it makes no sense to go mad on the cheap ones, surely thats where the good players could go a long way? i wont be playing this though as my computer and my brain struggle with 5 tables but yes, good idea and good luck to all who enter.

    Hi all,

    Thanks for all your feedback.

I'd like to re-iterate that I do not expect the Forum DTD to be adversely affected by this promotion. It's designed to compliment Chris and Michael's league, not compete with or distort it.

And I do need to clarify one thing: 'The Extender' will measure each player's performance in five tournaments and ALL FIVE results count - not just the best three. The promotion runs for four weeks and each player will be assessed on his/her three best WEEKLY scores.

Any further questions, please ask. But, for now, good night!

    James.
