Sky Poker Forums is upgrading its look! Stay tuned for the big reveal!
Good morning!
Last night, Sky Poker announced it's inaugural "United Kingdom Online Poker Series", to be known as "UKOPS".
A series of Online Poker Tourneys, it takes place between Monday October 31st & Sunday November 6th, 2011, immediately after SPT Leg One.
Buy-ins range from £22 to £530, Clocks from 5 mins to 15 mins, starting chips from 3,000 to 10,000, with a total Guarantee Value of £140,000.
It includes NLH Freezeouts, Turbo Rebuys, DoubleStacks, an Omaha Rebuy, a High-Roller, & a Main Event.
A satellite schedule will be announced very shortly.
Any questions, fire away, & someone from Sky Poker will field them if I am not around.
The Thread will also be used to keep abreast of who qualifies in the Daily Super Satellites, registered runners for each Event, & this, that, & even the other. In other words, all things UKOPS related.
I'll be offline now until Sunday evening or even Monday, but any questions, stick them on this Thread please.
Thanks!

Regardless of that it does seem a pretty amazing venture by Sky Poker.
Entirely outwith my BR anyway.
But strange.
Very strange that Sky would suddenly x their GTDs 100 fold without some sort of backing/ business case?
Not like I'm paranoid or anything. Hmm.
Ok, missed the show but would like to know the ins and outs of this please.
Is it just for the high BR players who can just choose if THEY want to play or not or is it really open to all??
I fully appreciate Sky Poker introducing new schemes but feel, yet again, that this promotion is geared towards the high rollers. I know, and expect, a load of negative response to this post, but as a prominent campaigner for the smaller BR player, I would like to know if this is really 'across the board' for ALL players or just another cunningly disguised thank you from Sky Poker to all their 'bigger' players?
Fair enough. Makes business sense I suppose.
Campaign all you want for the smaller BR player Maxamillion. I'm guessing Murdoch would be indifferent. And you can't really blame him (I know it's not really him, but still, you know what I mean).
I also think it's also a bit cruel.
You're right that this has nothing to do with the average player. Sky is a business and are, rightly, capitalising on a business need. The market is open and I don't blame them for capitalising.
However, Sky has, up to now, been the champion of the new player. Hence the prizes, et al. It would be a shame if they just decided to concentrate on such wondrous players as yourself from now on. There's a market they might miss out on. I'm sure you could throw our toys back in the pram for a price though.
also like the idea that the 500 event only attracts 30£ rake...on other sites, the higher the BI there is a reduction on the rake and glad that Sky have noticed this.
really like the idea of a leaderboard type system.
would be interested in the 'season ticket' package.
will there normal opens be running at the same time too? i take it that the minis will remain unchanged?
wtih regards to Maxally's comments, I think that Sky does MASSIVE amounts for small BR players. probably more than any other site....I would have thought that the way they have supported your mini open idea/the forum DTD league etc is evidence enough for that.
and having a one week series of higher BI events doesn't detract from that.
for example, most casinos in the country offer 15£.20£ tournies 2 or 3 times a week but they also offer festivals once a twice a year where the BIs change to get a buzz about the place and get some big prizepools. this is no different. well actually this is a bit different as in a live casino when a festival is on the smaller BI tournies are dropped for a week....I can't see Sky dropping the minis/dtd/the 2.20 deepstacks/the new small BI hypers.
i'm also sure that there will be a satellite schedule that will offer a way for people of all bankrolls to join into some, if not all of the events. much like how Sky offers a way to get a SPT 220£ seat for only 1.40£.
everyone has a different financial circumstance and there are some new/recreational players out there who do not get the buzz about playing small BI tournies and a series like this will attract them to Sky too.
Hi Aaron - dont worry, this is definitely the Sky Poker UKOPS!
Tikay will naturally claim all the ideas were his!
Thanks

tyty sky
It certainly looks ambitious, and I hope players give it there full support so it can have every chance of succeeding before trying to find faults.
Looking forward to seeing how it develops.
Jessusssssss you serious mannnn ,
behave we get loads of prizes to give away & we have loads of good structure mtts now to play in .
Us players with small bankrolls have never had it so good on skypoker .
Get back in your box maxs or i will send raver over there .
Den .
p.s Stop rocking the boat or the prizes may fall out lol
I know Tikay contributes on 2+2 with regard to Sky and there is social media stuff, but would be interesting to know how else it will be promoted.
Maybe promotion will also be done with regard to upgrades that have been mentioned a lot on here. Timebanks, synched breaks, stt sats, late registration and the rest! You never know!
I think the key to the success of this will be how the satellites are arranged. With enough opportunities for the smaller bankroll players to get a taste of some high stakes mtt's this is an opportunity for everyone.
Nice one Sky, I wish it every success.
going to try and focus on the £100 F.O and with some luck the £200ME.
Hopefully sky will do some sort of £55 tourn ticket Sats so you can guy into any event you want with multiple tickets, i.e 4* £55 for the ME etc. Will help with numbers aswell as you can win a seat into all the events from 1 Satellite
By the way, we really love the idea of a UKOPS leaderboard and will look at doing one.
Thank you for your support on this, we can't wait for it!
