In Response to Re: Sky Poker TV Channel : Just to expand upon that Bugs, the Sky Sports simulcast sees a HUGE spike in number of viewers, but during that simulcast, we are absolutely not permitted to "sell", or even "call to action". ("Call to action" is when we might say, for example, "the 10.30pm BH starts in 15 minutes, register now"). So we are a bit constrained as to what we can & cannot say & do. We also need to pay heed to the fact that we have a completely different target audience during the simulcast - viewers who do not, for the most part, play poker. But we'd like them to.......;) So we approach it quite differently. There is some reverse logic here, of course - during the time when we have our largest audience, we cannot legally promote the product! Posted by Tikay10
I can understand not being able to advertise tournaments but are you not allowed to advertise fothcoming live shows on 861 in greater detail? Selected clips (showing the fun experienced / analysis / TSP results), forthcoming analysts, community threads etc.
when the changes to the programmes were advertised i was one of the first to query the wisdom of this. since then i have watched the shows consistantly and would like to air my OWN views.
i agree with others that say Chat Box is far too long, 1/2 an hour would be plenty.
showing timed tournies and DYMs is a strong step in the right direction, plenty of hands and analysis with a certain conclusion to the tournie.
the Poker School is becoming something samey and protracted, maybe combine with the the Clinic.
the analysts, presenters and guests are brilliant and i wouldn't change a thing. ladies night was/is superb, ladies bring a different perspective to the game and usually have a lot of fun.
the idea of having a single show for one tournie, such as UKOPS, works well and could/should be implemented more often. just how many hand requests come in? LOADS is the answer.
when the hole cards were covered the other night was great. the analyst and viewer had a lot more to think about.
this is of course only MY opinion. agree/dissagree to your hearts content!!!
The feedback has been great, all constructive & well put, & will be studied & assessed by the Production Team.
Hopefully, a balance can be struck, the "trying to please everyone" thing is a bit hard, but everyone at the Channel will continue working hard to tick as many boxes as possible.
As has been explained before, the Channel has a broad range of criteria to meet, but broadly, they span "entertaining, educating, & encouraging", the last named being "encouraging more people to play on the Site". That is, after all, what pays for the Channel, so it is extremely important.

We cannot directly promote either SkyPoker.com OR the Channel whilst on Sky Sports simulcasts.
To make it worse, the "rules" are, largely, "guidelines", but if we fall foul of them, the fines run into 6 figures, & it's likely we would lose our Teleshopping licence as well as our Sky Sports simulcast spot.
very frustating that must be tikay i suppose a slot on sky sports is worth its wait in gold though regardless of the issues around it? Posted by bugaloo
I could not have put it better, Bugs.
The simulcast exposes us to a HUGE audience, and a new and different audience, who are not poker savvy, & who do not have Sky Poker accounts, so the simulcast is extremely important.
Gives us a lot of headaches, too, because on one hand, we have to try to bring in new players, & on the other, keep the existing players/viewers happy. The latter requires a different approach, because we are "preaching to the converted".
There is a good reason why we are the only European facing online poker site with a dedicated 24/7 TV channel - cost!
To be honest, I am amazed we have survived this long as a TV Channel, I thought it might last 18 months, so it's all bonus in a way.

I think someone said TOTP wasnt right for this slot. Given the viewer dynamic i sturggle to see theother choices avalible to Sky. I mean i suppose they could show the ME, but lets be fair to all, if we are a non-poker player watching poker we want to see the best action. No offence to anyone, but the most interesting and most advanced action does infact come from the high stake cash games.
i like TOTP. As a small addition at the end of the show, it would be good to show a simple graphic of the top 10 hands for the week irrespective of the hand being on a table with a TV icon or not. another potential wow moment.
