What i say over optimal tables, i mean im playing more than i'd be comfortable with.

Today it was an error, i regged cause i was short in a few, but id doubled and recovered and forgot id regged.

So basically i was just doing more than i could handle.

Dont be worried about asking me to explain anything i write happy to do it. :)

So you don't play at all in the evening/night then? Is there a reason for this? I just ask cos pretty much every game MTTs/Cash/HU SnGs is softer or just better at night. MTTs at night probably don't change much in standard but you just have so many bigger fields/better prizepools like the Mini/ME, tons of £2/£5/£11 BHs that pretty much all get at least 100+ runners instead of all the the daytime MTTs on Sky where you play a £5 BH and first prize is about £40 + heads lol.

I do play at nights, just not of late because im just too tired. I agree most of the cash games arew softer at night, however ive alwaysdone better at S&Gs and MTTs during the day. MTTs at night are higher variance obv higher variance. However your right they do have bigger prizepools.

I woke up at 7.30 today, which is he longest ive slept in weeks so maybe get some in tonight.

    Frustrating times

Yestday must have been the most frustrating day of poker in a while. I continued to find leaks in my game though. Its amazing when you spot one leak you can discuss the solution with others and suddenly you find another leak, and other leak. If i can keep finding and working on them it can only be good in the long term though.

The day started well with an early min cash. I swear we did more than that but apparently not. However it seems that the day came down to 3 different 5 minutes of death. During the first a break finnished, 2 new tables opened. I had 5 tables open, decent stacked in all. 5 mins later i had 1.

Later on the first one wasn't as bad as that jus a couple of drops but acouple  of stack cripplers too.

Anyways i did make day two of the Trilogy. 300k from the bonus day 1. Day 2 started and we doubled that lost a flip and won back. So we where in good shape, just one player on the table covered us, and they where determined in 3betting almost every open we made. In the end i made a rash decision to 4b jam AJs and he had Kings. In hindsight i made a mistake. It was a cash for €5 though so i wont complain too much. Although i paid €6 entry fee over the 2 day 1's in entered :(

That meant i was play night time mtts aswell, although again no cash.

In general yesterday was just one of those days, i think if i play like that again on other day we have 1 or 2 deep runs.

    Mixed Emotions

Yesterday I'd arranged to play a casino game with dad last night. in the morning I played a couple of online stuff, being honest though, I could never have seem them out given my arrangements so, I shouldn't have. And even in doing so was pretty half effort.

Anyways I had one small cash.

The live game was probably the most redic mtt I've ever played. Its a £13+£20+£20 but I treat it as a £53 FO. Although I take my Addons when nessesary or at the addon period. The reason being is you can save £20 if you've got above 16k at the break as theres no need for the extra 7k in 99% of circumstances (I know that's backwards but its just so rare people would even be close to you).

Anyways the "rebuy" period I was card dead, came out about +2k chips after a split pot in what was a strange hand pre when it was min raised with 6 callers. After the rebuy period it got strange.

I won a pot, lose a pot for virtually the same amount. Get a table move, flop top set, slow play v a guy I know really well, who decided to overbet bluff turn and river. Anyways he folded to my shove despite insane odds on the river . So I got the max. The very next hand I was now in with the bigger stacks. UTG limps, One guy 4x's. I don't 3 bet as hes the only stack similar sized to me on the table, and don't love getting it in pre in this spot given the situation. So I peel with AQ. UTG peels. 9k in the pot. I check Q44 flop with 2 diamonds. UTG checks. Raise bets all in, 3.5x pot. Ermm.... I call. I have to admit I was slightly confused but it was weird. Anyways he flipped over K3dd and got there. I was left with 2.5bb. So every one limps, im on the button, 88. Ohhh a pair and 2.5bb im all in. UTG shoves to iso. Gulp. he shows QJ we hold. Then TT v T8 on 873 goes all in and we're back to where we was.

So we then pick up chips in other pots nothing major but adding 10k here and there. Eventually 13 are left. At this stage from our accumulating we're one of the chip leaders. Their chipping up the lowest demominatiion chips. I have loads of them, I look at my cards but have to move it around the TD's arm. Guy to my left raises. TD quickly realises whats happen, I see AcKs, well ok my options are open, ok I raise. "raiser" now snap calls. Folds to BB who shoves, I re-shove "raiser" snaps. AK v AQ (Raiser) and TJ. T on flop, sigh. K turn YES. 2 river YES! oh theres 4 diamonds, F@#K! We have 10bb again. Black river and we have 20% of chips in play with 11 left. Instead we finnish 11th with 9 cashing. Sigh.

I felt kinda puke, ontop of that I had to watch FT as my dads friend he was giving a lift to it was in. The guy qith the AQ hand, desides to call off his stack (around 25bb) with 10 high pre. didn't get there. Sigh.

So we got home at 6am.

Anyways today I played 4 tables of NL10 for about 2.5 hours. Finnished £11 up. Given it was such a grim start, with tonnes of hands like these 2.

    Cash baby Cash

So I decided to play some NL10. I put on a playlist I recently found just searching for various things on spotify and off I went.

Will post some hands but don't expect a tonne of positive feedback. Tbh a few of them where just trying to do new things, see how people respond to things etc. Stuff that I haven't really done before. Including the strangest hand I've ever played.

Villian had previously been a massive nit, so I assume he doesn't hit this flop that hard, so I decided to go for a 3b. Obv as a bluff but I think I'm also repping strong. When he calls I just give up, we turn top pair, but then he checks back. I was like URGH WTF. So I just assume he has diamonds, so I was going to c/c or value bet small on the river. Then the 4d peels off, and it was like isbnjakbfsjbgksb.

So that does me for hands. It was another small profit session, but just generally trying out new things, profit is a bonus. I maintain to work on my mental game, and if I can get that solid I will hopefully be able to start progressing at cash, and ideally that's where I'd like to be just for the more solid win rate. Mtts are fun and all but the time between wins is hard to take sometimes. Expessially when you aint cashing to soften the blow.

Tomorrow sparks the beginning of Micromillions. I've already sold my pretty sweet looking package, which was infact one of the fastest ever sellouts ive had, if not the fastest. Was much more interest in more too. So my main focus will be on that, that will mean a huge drop in volume, but I will probably play cash or HU instead.

    More cash action

Well i thought i was done for the day, but Mel decided it was soap time. Sigh gg tv remote, hello mouse.

So i played, much more simple through the night, although the tables where less friendly for splashing about with weird plays. I would post hands but really you'd just look and be like cooler, cooler, even the only interesting hand was a pretty simple river fold. That i still called because im like he reps that card soo often, and he was the only "thinking" player at the table.

In the end i finnished £21 up for that session. Given a tough start again I'm pleased with that. And this NL10 time has put me back on track, i have some momentum and I'm enjoying playing again. Just in time for the MM to start too.

Still reading Don!  SO many diaries, not enough time!  THe HHs make interesting reading!  DO you spend much time reviewing hands? Or just make a note of ones where you think you might have made mistakes/can learn from them?

haha take your time its not going anywhere bud :)

I spend a decent amount of time reviewing hands. Not as much as others do though.

Erm... during a session i note some hands. Most of these i know theres a big mistake straight away or I've tried something and its worked. Or just something against a reg i want to take a bigger idea against later. I also then search hands as there probably something I've missed.

I prefer grup sessions though, i think i recorded one a few pages back if you want a look. Would like to do more of that. We have done similar, someone recorded a cash NL50 session and we discussed things through the video, this allowed us to think of different lines, what we rep, what others rep, how do we use our notes to an advantage etc.

I think having a study time is very important. Obviously you have to have the time to do it, and i am lucky in that sense.

Yes that title sums up my thoughts perfectly.

So i played some NL10. First session was the most boring session ever. I finnished a buy in down, but literally was just reg, reg reg reg reg. Meh.

    So i played some HU.

As you can see that didn't go well.

    So back to cash.

    -£70.

    BR destroyed.

    GG etc etc.

    MM went poor too.

I have nothing more to say. Night all

    Time for a break

I refused to update proper last night as really my head wasn't in the best of places.

However after sleeping on it I've decided that after i see out the package i sold for MM I will be taking time away from the game.

In honesty i bar one session the other day, I think its clear I haven't enjoyed the game of late. Yesterday i played badly. I got frustrated and simply lost disipline. Yes i ran bad, but i didn't make the tilt mistakes of old, i just got into that "i cant fold TPTK every time" and the one time i got it wrong sent the rest of the session spiraling out of control.

I have two weeks of MM to see out, I think that will be all i will play between now and christmas. I may play more i dono but unlikely. I think its best I just enjoy some family time.

So for those that read this thank you, the goals for 2014 are now unreachable with my br anyways. Best of luck to every one at the tables.

Nice sample size with the HU sng session that 'didn't go well', Donald. Bet losing that 4 quid really stung.

Well done for giving them a proper shot! ;)

Today i had 2 more MM and made 2 mistakes which cost me in both. The strange thing is, probably a good thing actually, is that i was more annoyed than all the tilt i've had over the past few weeks purely because i was annoyed at myself.

Also for some lols, a mate offered to take me to the pub last night, and i fell down a flight of stairs on route to said pub.

    MM Update

    So yesterday was slightly better.

Event 1 we started well 20% increase in stack came quickly. We then lost house over house but lost the min. We built back up then lost with nut straight v backdoor flush. Again losing the min bt we never really regained momentum. We did recover to starting but then someone bust and the new player mixed with a beat on another player who went on tilt changed the table dynamic. Either a huge 3b shove for like 50BB effective or a fish who was heatering like mad peeled and just flopped the nuts. Eventually the fish stopped heatering but by then we had 18bb. He wasn't just heatering v us either it was v everyone, it was just nuts watching some of the hands. We did manage one double, but then a 21BB 3b jam with 6s got snapped quicker than a snappy thing by AT. Meh gg.

Event two was a turbo zoom poker mtt. again a good start increasing our stack by 20% before we got AA v KK all in pre. K hits we're down to 1k. We recover then get KK v AA. Strangely the K hits. The next while was a grind before we got QQ v KK. Q hits. Then a grind, KK then lost to A2 and that really was the damage from that we never recovered. Blinds and ante's where huge, eating away. Anyways we shove got called gg. First cash of the seiries though.

Event 3 was a HU shootout. Opponent was was terrible. Literally if i was to pick any type of player to play this would have been it. He had a tendancy to Check shove insane spots, like 5k into 200 pots. Eventually we open A4 they peel flop A94 with 2 clubs, we cbet 200 into 400 so 600 in middle, snap jam for 4.5k. Well ok i call. Oh you have A9 wp sir. Eventually i got one shove through he called the 2nd one with KJ and xxQT9 runout meant it was gg. Annoying but what can you do.

    More MM update

Today i had 3 scheduled events

Fell just short of the money in the first event, strange spot with AK followed by losing a flip cost me my tournament. Nothing i could do but watch.

The second event was just strange. I doubled quickly with top set v TPTK, made a strange error, was just a misread and tbh even with my read i could have found better spots. Its a turbo and i did recover but by the time i got back there, it was 15bb. Thus one K9 into KQ later i was out.

Third event i decided not to play as i was just too tired, given my inability to sleep ive been left regretting that decision.

Since dropping my volume i found I have enjoyed poker again, the issue is 1 tabling is just horrible. I have nothing scheduled for tomorrow so going to have a day where i meet a friend or two. But Wednessday i think i'll put in a proper shift.

Also a new avatar. Kinda like this one, As much as i liked the Cartman one, i felt it was time for a change.

    Reload, Refocus, Respawn

Meh another pretty frustrating grind. 2nd hand of the day (first hand was a misclick i went to reg for an mtt stars wanted looked at flicked over the top and i was hitting reg and as a result i peeled a cold 4b with T5s) i got set over setted in a pretty grim spot.

Much of the day continued like that. I promised myself i wouldn't moan but i just couldnt even manage that simple task.

Anyways after much discussion elsewhere i've set a goal for december.

Over all sites, in december i plan to play 200 mtts. Doesn't sound alot, but with xmas, sisters birthday, mels 21st and a couple of maybe live events much more would be hard.

The only other worry is running out of br before completeion.

    Hi Don,

    1. New logo/avatar suks!
    2. Still reading! (That should have been 1 btw!)
    3. 200 mtts is a pretty sick schedule?  Also, surely a goal needs to be results orientated ? Just an observation.
    4. Erm..thats all....

    1. many will agree, but pokemon is something that keeps me happy. Embarrassing as it is to admit to but it was my child hood, and its my "when im down" go to programme.

    2. haha :)

    3. Over a month it should be fine, a friend suggested that 300 would average 15 per day, with some commitments and christmas i felt that 200 would be better/

    4. (results based just to make it easier and break it up) ummm... normally i'd agree, but i think a huge weakness in my game is grind ethic and tilt. By saying i will play a set schedule (which i will announce later) for a target of playing 200 mtts minimum during the month of December would be far better than me saying i want to earn £500. And that way if i run bad/dont play well, my goal is still achieveable.

    5. :D

Yeah results based goals are pretty useless, they're fine for a bit of fun but not much good in terms of measuring success. Don could satellite into the ME, rungood and win it for £2k and smash his target in day 1, or brick 30 MTTs in a row and neither option would be that shocking.

Hit the bar, the post and a great save from the keeper

Today i missed my first MM game. I based my schedule around a sleeping pattern which is now lost. Thankfull i think that was the last of the 7am bad boys.

I late reged the 9am busted with kings. Spoke with lambert about it and he suggested a slightly different line pre, but as played i done what i could, and i got ul so thats pokers.

The next one was 6 max, anyways start was poor but when we got going, we got going. I played well on the most part, one mistake but dont think it would have changed things, i missed a river value bet. Bubble pops, im in great shape for a deep run, one double puts me in with the chip leaders, then the guy on the table who has me covered, was a pretty strong player opens. We has kings. We 3bets, he 4bets, well it goes in he has Aces, gg goodnight Vienna etc etc. Delighted with how i played tho, no quarrels with the exit just kinda poor timing.

So one last scheduled event, never got going tbh, never got above starting, spent most of the time around 50% of starting tbh. Anyways My QQ shove bgot called by AT i got ul gg etc etc.

However i continued to grind. Winamax mtt didnt go well, again just cdnt do anything. First Sky mtt went poor. Both FTP mtts i got ul in, std stuff.

But 1 last mtt remained. The 2.30 bh. I played about as well as i could. Got deep, got a decent stack, always about average, strange hand happens. basically 4 handed (8 left) SB limps. We check with Q8hh. Anyways flop comes J high all hearts. Yummy. SB pots. We raise small. Stacks wherent an issue but i didnt want a 4th heart killing action. He calls, Turn Heart. F@#K he checks, i check back. River Ah. Well at least i know im good, but how the monkey do i get paid. he checks i bet like 1/8th pot, he calls with a flopped 2 pair (now playing the board) which was annoying. Anyways aa few hands later i open with KTo BTN calls, BB calls (bb was sb in previous hand). Anyways TTQ flop with 2 clubs. We bets quite meaty actually. BB calls, turn again, he now has 2/3rds of his stack in the middle. River club. We have K club so block tonnes of club combos. He has flush. Sigh.

Anyways we grind away and grind away. A 3 way all in for a head and 150% double on FT in interesting, i shove AQ, shorty calls A3 Sb vcalls KQ. Ax3x3 board means i break even for hand and miss out on a head. However i got a ouble and another. Suddenly i was hu. Fwiw i was HU with half the stack 2nd in chips had 5 handed. So i was a huge dog. HU lasted 3 hands, all standard, before A4 into AK and good night. 2 heads plus second place was worth £41.

A good day all round, but promised soo much more. Its good to be cashing again tho.

    Advances

So i slept in again. yes i know i should sleep better.

So i played the 2nd event, i dropped out of the third due to tilt and frustration. In the event i played i felt i played extremely good pokers. I got very UL with KK v AJ losing all in on Jxx flop and the running AK into AA for the remaining.

    Slightly disappointing.

However in talk of new software, i wont discuss sky software, its clear my opinion is different from many, and that its good. However my new hardware arrived today. Xbox One. And i tell you what a dam machine.

Sky poker app for xbox please :)

    Motovation

Motovation is lacking at the moment. Im not 100% of the reason as when im playing i feel im playing well. I have decided to see out my MM schedule (tomorrow) and take a week off till dec wjhen i plan my 200 mtt grind.

Today i had 3 events again i missed one, the second i lasted 15 mins. I couldnt help but peel mega deep from the BB v 2 super passive fish with 75s. Board runs out 68Q9. Guy has TJ, to be fair i should have got away on the river.

The next one was insane, awesome start then just couldn't do anything. However we did get a small cash before busting with Jacks into Aces.

    All pretty standard stuff.

My main focus is turning to December now, and the 200 game plan.

Will be playing daytime but looking for suggestions on games. I have a rough schedule in my head, but curious as to hear what people have as a favourite mtt in the day

I read earlier that your xbox told you off for shouting at a referee during the game.

If you could play sky poker on it, it'd probably explode.
