Hallo Tikay. It's been a while since I've been on here [SKY] having taken a self enforced sabbatical having been drinking to both the edge of insanity and brokedness after suffering a series of horrendous rivercard suck-outs, outdraws and bad beats which broughtb me to doubting my wisdom in playing at all.

Having returned the poker equivalent of Jesus' 40 days in the wilderness, I have found the the your sidekick, the absolutely Michelle Orpe had disappeared from the screens completely [Shows you how long it's been!].

So I was therefore wondering where she'd gone and whether [a] she was still involved in poker and [b] whether she might ever return.

    cheers,

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

Michelle is now the EPT "TV Host", she took Kara's job when Kara moved onwards & upwards to ever growing fame, fortune & success.

But we've been blessed, Lisa Marie Long & Sarah Champion have become very firm favourites of the Sky Poker Community, & they both work very hard here. I have no idea if Michellle will ever return. People come & go, you know, & life goes on.

I'm glad to hear you have sorted yourself out man. But please, if bad beats make you hit the bottle, then either.....

    a) Poker is not the game for you. You will ALWAYS get bad-beats in poker, & if you can't accept them stoically, you should not play the game. Why anyone wouild get upset at a bad-beat is completely beyond me. They are an integral part of poker, & always will be.

    b) Drop down a few Buy-In Levels, so you are playing well within your means & bankroll. Beats don't hurt - not at all - if you play within your means.

We are nearly at the end of our second series of TKO, which are, basically, 1,400 player Freerolls. If you win one, which takes 4 hours, then you earn maybe £50 or £100. I got 12th of 800+ for £2.50, & 2nd of 1,400 for £28 I think. And yet I've rarely had as much fun playing poker, & most of the other 1,400 players would say the same. You don't have to play "big money" to enjoy the game.

Hope it goes well for you, but do please take it easy fella.

can you tell me why is it that when i win a few tornys for about 2 days after i get nothing but rubbish starting hands and bad beats. i play live games twice a week and know that luck can go up and down but on this site i could bet my house on after winning over £20 i'll get this so called bad luck until at least half of it has gone

    Hi darvy,

That's how poker works, & life works, a spell of good luck is usually folowed by a spell of bad luck, & vice-versa. Over time, it evens out. It's called, in poker, "variance", & it applies equally, to all players, on all sites.

We see & remember the "bad luck" when we lose, we don't see the good luck when we win.

If you are good enough, you will overcome luck in the medium & long term. But nobody on earth can overcome short term luck & variance.

Hopefully you are due a spell of good fortune now.

Hahaha. sorry Tikay. Just read my post....that'll teach me not to use predictive text on my WAP phone [or whatever it is they're called now] when e-mailing, it will also remind me to proof read what I've written before hitting the 'send' button. 'drinking' should have read 'driven'.

Your words however oh wise one are noted.

Thanks also to you and Barry re: Ms Orpe info.

    cheers,

Oh my, that did make a bit of difference to both your question, & my reply! I'm very relieved to hear it.

Some peoplle DO react very oddly to adversity in poker.

I sat down at a Table last night, & before the first hand had been dealt, a Gent asked......

"tikay, my aces got bust today, by A-T, & my Kings got busted yesterday by A-3, do I get a medal for not sticking my fist through my laptop screen?".

I really never know what to say when I see those sort of statements. I can't begin to imagine why anyone would play a game that makes them so angry, or how they cope with a little wind in their face in real life.

Anyway, it's good to have you back, & I hope the Gods of Poker are kind to you.

    Hi Jay,

Before each TKO Series, e-Mails are sent to ALL Sky Poker players. Everyone, every single player, is entitled to play them, but you HAVE to reply to the e-Mail, & choose your preferred Team. The next series of TKO will start quite soon, probably middle to late March.

Your Tourney question. As the Tourney progresses, become more & more aggressive. You have to change gear when the Blinds start to bite.

    Good luck.

    Hi jay

TKO II finishes tonight, so, if a decision is made to have TKO III, it is usualy advertised on the home page and also emails are usually sent out asking you to pick a team but only if you asked to be kept in touch about promotional things like this.

It depends in how you play after the first break in a tourny, what is the blind structures, what is the table like, what is your table image, i.e. is there soeone on the table who will fold to a raise? if you get HU with this player raise, is there someone who is very lose, wait for a hand then bang, use position be a little more aggro, but slect your place and target, dont try to play every hand, be seslctive in what you play, use your own image on the table to your advantage i.e. if you have been folding a lot, wait for position and if everyone has limped into the pot, try a decent raise depending on the blinds what size of raise, but listen to the answers you get, if everyone folds fine, but if someone calls or raises be ready to lay down your hand if you supect/know you are behind, tournies are won by folding hands unless you have enought outs and its not to dear to call.

Oh and there is never a simple answer :)

The faster the Tourney, the more you need to "gamble". If you have gamble in you, allied to certain skills, then fast Tourneys are fine.

    Hi Pagie,

The short answer is "apply yourself", nobody has a right to win.

When you say you have "tried everything", exactly what have you tried?

    Hi Gorton,

I'm a bit confiused by the pre-flop betting sequence, but that aside, & as it turned out, you played it rather beautifully, especially if you thought someone might Raise behind you.

By whatever means, you got it all-in "good", & that's perfect, as good as it gets.

The result is not relevant. You got all your money in "good".

Finally got to play one of the tko`s they started just as my night classes started (we are on half term this week) and was really happy with my 28th place in tko 5, i had to ask a friend to play the others for me and will have to do the same next week when the winners tourny is on (as i am sure we have won). It is only a 10 week coarse and i would be aternally grateful if you would consider giving me another chance when the next tko challenger is chosen.

Nice result last night Sir, well done.

I don't know if Team tikay will be in the next TKO yet - it's "winner stays on" & we await the result of last night. But you can CHOOSE who you play for, just tick the relevant box when the e-Mail arrives, & Bob's your uncle.

By the bye, you should not really allow other people to play on your account. It's OK in Freerolls I guess, but when playing for money, it's not appropriaste to allow others to access your account.

Once again, congrats - & thank you - for your success last night.

Could you clarify, or expand, please?

Are you taking about playing cards?, Credit Cards?, I'm not clear, sorry.
