Been a bit lazy with the diary.

Played a 3 £11 MTTs at the weekend. (bad br management) Didn't do anything. Crazy bingo poker (Friday Saturday night late on).

Won £7.80 in a £50 timed. And won £7 in a speed BH. Also finished 3rd today in£150 BH and a couple of heads for £8.74

Due to the 4k freeroll triple thingy promotion ive been playing a bit more cash to get some PP's as I don't play high volume MTT's (or cash) I seem to get more point playing cash 10p/20p.

Trying to get 1000 points to qualify for the 1st one. Currently got 160.

The cash has been up and down. Was £86 profit after 3 session but then lost 3 £20 buy ins in my next 2 sessions. Rivered a straight on a paired board and ran into the full house, and the same player raised me after I 3bet KK pre on a 967 board I shoved over his cbet (very agro player) and he showed 55. 8 on the river. Standard.

    Lost £11.72 as well today.

So in total after playing fri and sat night plus sunday daytime and today I am a MAAAAAAAASIVE £4.82 up.

    £420.96

Entered the £150 bh. Finished nowhere but got 2 heads so it only cost £1.04p

£300 bh. Ran very well, played well. Got it in behind a couple of times but with good equity (had open ended straight plus nut fl draw and KQ spades vs AK off on a K high board with 2 spades- hit fl).

Managed to take it down. Finished 1st for £61.27 and took 5 heads for £25.71.

    Total profit for tourney £81.23

Happy days. First take down since the start of the diary.

    br £502.19

Cheers mate, much appreciated.  Yeah would be nice. I've been treading water a bit since I started my diary. Might stay away from the cash for a week and see how my points build up playing MTT's. I only usually hit about 600-700 points in a month but I'm aiming for 1k this month for the 4k freeroll. Hence a dabbled in cash last week. My cash game is good at lower stakes but I do have a tendency to be very up and down with it.

Again, thanks for the diary railing mate. Nice to know somebody is reading it.

    no worries,
I'm sure many more do pop in for a read but don't always post.
anyway, don't you worry about that, just concentrate on doing the right things on the poker tables, and I'm sure you will be fine.
    good luck mate,

To be fair, me raising to 80p (4x) is what I'd do with 100% of my range when I see a limper, I'm either raising to 4x or folding. I'd advise against you limping at all.

Me raising the flop does make it likely I've got a better hand than you but that's not surprising because at the moment you have 9-high. I'd prefer to check to the aggressor (me), let me bet, and then raise, cos then you can get me to fold all the hands I'd cbet like AQ/AJ/AT/QJ/QT/Q9 to name a few.

As played when you shove the turn it looks a lot like you have exactly the kind of hand you had but you have alot of outs and if I'm you I probably don't intend on folding at any point now. Again though if you check, let me bet and then shove, you'll pick up more money on the times where I don't have a hand strong enough to call.

Yeah I agree. Like Dev said perhaps I should have shoved the flop raise. Was a nice hand.

In other news donked off some money on the cash tables but won most of it back. Gonna post a few hands and see what people think of my play. I'll update my bankroll later as i've got C4P to take out but also gonna take some money out for holiday at end of Feb :)

I'm up to 258 points this month so far, so hopefully on course for the 4k freeroll.

Over played my hands a bit????

Ok. So I've adapted my BR.

After 6 cash sessions at 10/20p I am £20.71 down. (not bad considering I just left a table £45 up!!! so was £65 down at one point!!) Plus a BH buying for $5.75 with no joy.

    I got £7.21 C4P

However I've withdrawn some money to pay for a holiday so currently my BR stands at £271.56

With a balance of £75.73 profit since I started my diary. Not including the C4P as they were part earned before I started my diary, however I will include these in future.

  • edited February 2014

Well. Been playing cash 10p/20p (or 20NL. Is that what the kids call it these days???) Very up and down. I lose £10-£20 then win it back and do it again!! I think I might post a session or some typical hands in the clinic to see if I can spot my weakness'.

Even though it blew my BR management I entered the Main and Mini tonight. Was running really well in both. Got short stacked in the mini and exited with A10s vs AKo after we both flopped an Ace. But took 4 heads for a little profit and a 68th place finish.

The Main I took a horrendous beat (see BBV) AQo vs AQo for 74th. but again I took heads (3) which gave me some profit.

So really I shouldn't have entered the Main as it was over 10% of my current BR but luckily I got the heads to cover myself.

BR currently £286.31 so still going in the right direction and got 441 C4P to boot.

Well after more up and down cash action I decided to dip my toe in the DYM's. I have played a fair few in the past but never really grinded/ground???? them. I was attracted by the C4P potential, although I only play 2 tables at a time they usually don't last that long and are a good boost IMHO. Ive had a little go at £5.50 level and won 5 out of 6 so happy days.

Entered the £150 BH and busted early. Currently in the £300BH 19/40 with a 4k stack. (will update later just bored lol)

Well with some excellent railing from mrsduck I managed a 3rd place finish. Played well, hit cards when I needed to but was a tad rash shoving A9 on the button. Got called by A10.

Only took 1 head so total profit £21.90

Shout out to mrsduck. Im pretty sure she took the £500BH down. I railed her till final 2 where she had a chip lead of about 5/6:1

In my opinion you played very well. Patient at first, let the game play, picked your spots and took it down (I think lol)

    Well done

nothing to report in MTT's. £300 BH did nothing. £150 BH took 3 heads which covered buy in, but nothing. Had a really big stack at one point, should have definitely played it different. Even though I tried to be aggressive I had a very loose table. I should have tightened up and picked my spots. Instead I when from chip leader to bust fairly quickly.
This put me on tilt a bit and I entered the £500 BH with a buy in of £22 (silly boy) got it in good but didn't last long!!!
DYM's on the other hand have been my friend (a bit). Including my results in my previous post I have now played 15 DYM's in total and cashed in 10. Although 2 of the ones I didn't cash in were £3.30. The rest were at the £5.50 level. So this has absorbed the damage done by me being a moron!!

DYM wise I am going to try keep track of games/profit as I do like the points boost it gives for the 4k freeroll.

    13 x £5.50 = £71.5 + 2 x £3.30= £6.60 Total buy ins £78.10 So 10 £10 victories is £100. Therefore £21.9 profit from DYM's.

Cheers Jac35. Nice to know people are reading.

Just a quick update to keep track of my DYM's.

Played 5 cashed 2/5 :( so overall 20/30 however from now on I'm going to knock off 2 that I didn't cash in at the £3,30 level as I will only be playing £5.50. I swear its not to make my stats look better lol, its just so it doesn't skew my profit/loss figures as I do find DYM's quite comfortable I want to see what the figure look like after a few months.

Due to Jac35's advice (whilst not wanting to upset Tikay, man of his age and all that lol) I will refer too C4P as RP. Also 1 less character to type

    DYM's 4/6

Entered £150 and £300 BH. Took 1 head in £300 but finished nowhere. Took 2 heads in £150 and finished 5th. Unlucky really. Was very short stacked and got it in 3 way with A10 suited vs 98off (who I had covered so would have got head) and A7off. He hit his 7 and that was me! I made enough in the £150 to cover both tourneys with a couple of quid profit.

Played quite well in both BH's. Will be having a punt at the main and mini tonight.

My DYM strategy seem to be working quite well. I only needed luck a couple of time (QQ VS KK hit my Q. Won a couple of flips with AK.) However ive had a couple of flushes hit against me and ran into AA a few times when trying to steal, so overall so far its pretty balanced. Considering you have to win 55% to break even they are a bit of a false advertisement, however im at 75% at the minute. But it doesn't take many losses at first to really hurt your figures/profitability. I do enjoy them to a point. They can teach tricky stack size play, or give a good indication of what people shove/call with when short stacked. I don't think I could grind them for hours on end. I usually play short bursts 4/6/8 games or so.

Well. Played 2 DYM won 1 lost 1. Grrrr.

Tried to satellite into 10k BH -£3.60, bought in after that.

Mini, played well buuuuut My fh ran into quads, when I got short stacked I got it in with top pair and flush draw got called by 2nd pair who hit trips on the turn grrrrrr. no heads.

The 10k went much better. Played really well. Built a nice stack up to 9k and took a couple of heads in the first couple of hours. Made a massive fold on the bubble (see poker clinic-lemme know what you think) and also made a big fold once we were in the money

Well I started this diary a month ago nearly and last night I had my first visit from the tilt monster. I thought I could knock off a few dym's watching football. WRONG. Was unlucky in 1 of them 66 vs A10 spiked a 10 on the river. Stupid play in another, thinking my AJ was good vs utg raise with an ace on the flop (AK obv lol) and the others was just not focusing because I was watching the footy. Then I decided to play a bit of cash. Couldn't get a seat at a regular table so played on a capped (£6 10p/20p) the standard of play was horrendous (mine included lol) I tried to obey the rules and tightened up as every player was a station. Overall I lost £23. Had KK cracked by 57. Lost a flip with JJ vs AK made an attempt at a bluff (don't know why bottom pair was strong enough to call £6) and generally left the table disgusted with myself.

Today is a new day though. My mind is back where it should be. Despite losing another dym this morning I am currently in the £150 bh with a few heads and 8/14. I will be in the £300 at 11.30am and update after.

One of the reasons I made this diary was to keep myself in check. Usually when I have a nice result (like Monday 8th in the main woop woop) I tend to donk some of it off after. True to form I did that last night. Never again though. I certainly wont touch a capped table again, nor think I can just sit at a dym and expect to cash.

Well, bubbled the £150 but made a few quid profit on heads. Ran quite deep in the £300 but got it in bad with 99 vs jj after I raised and was called the 6 high flop made me think I had the best hand. But no, JJ isn't a hand some people 3bet. No heads so ho hum. Running bad recently.

Just out of interest, what would be considered a good ROI for dym's? Given the rake. Would any of the dym regs care to shar there stats? or roi? Im only 50 games in but currently running at 62% cashing. 7% profit. (I think that how it works)

Well my luck hasn't improved any. Played awful in the £150 bh. lasted about 20mins. Then got it in bad in the £300 bh with a set of aces (2 on the board) but the villain had pocket 4's for the wheel. Then I turned my attention to DYM'S. Got off to a great start. Cashed in my 1st 2, then was looking good for a cash in the 3rd when on the bubble the button shoved, I was sat in the sb with KK, villain showed A3o. The flop was great, except for a 4, followed by a 2 on the turn, no prizes for guessing the river........ 5.  I've posted the hand in BBV.
Then in another dym in thought I was home n dry when it all went in pre my KJ vs A2 I hit my king on the flop but the ace on the river ensured the best hand pre won.

Overall today my stats are 3/5. Although it should have been 4/5 lol.

    Hey Shauny,

If you had 7% ROI on DYM's over a large sample size, given the rake, it would pretty impressive.

Just seen your diary, impressive jump in bankroll in the last week or so.

Is it mostly MTT's you play?
