Ok, enough feeling sorry  for myself posts( for today anyway) last night I came 2nd in a pl08 tourney, always nice to play these to keep the old brain ticking ,well done Mr Hendricks or Jimi as he is commonly known on a well deserved victory, out-drawing my flopped 2 pair in the last hand- jammy so and so ;)
Also won a £2 bounty hunter for about £65 ish, which brings my bankroll back to where it was at before I withdrew money to go casino , happy days :)

We have a wedding in the family next Saturday, my good lady requested I try on my all occasions suit, oh dear , nothing fits me anymore, it must have shrunk in the wash....we went out to the local shopping emporium (no it is not a "mall" as they are in another country irrespective of what the sign outside says) managed to find one that fits me (they cater for all sizes apparently) and...wait for it...I got a tie....and braces!! Woohoo, no trousers falling down for this chap ;) it's all coming up mill house :)

Onwards and upwards then, good luck all.

    Hi Tom,

I have only just seen this thread. You have still been bossing the deepys (unless you were on my table of course) as well as being one of the true gents in the chat box, whilst going through such an awful time. This shows what a top man you clearly are.

Always enjoy our battles on the tables.

Have a great time in MK, you deserve it!

Atecr much head scratching and profanities, I handed the responsibility of posting the wedding cake which my good lady wife has made for this weekend over to her, so if you cannot view them it's her fault :). Dark angel and Irish Rose were on my plo8 table last night and I twisted their arms to show interest :) hope you like the photos, there is one which is work in progress, the other is the finished article.
My darling daughter helped make the roses and butterflies.

In my previous posts I have said how proud I am and perhaps a little undeserving of such a wonderful lady and this shows a small percentage of her skill in many aspects of life, if only she would listen when I try to teach her poker ;)

Tom you didn't need to twist our arms we were already intrested as soon as you said she was making a wedding cake. ☺ It is beautiful as I thought it would be. Not blinged up like most wedding cakes these days. I think it is very sophisticated and beautiful. Well done to your very talented wife and daughter.

Was a pleasure being on the same table with you last night. Good tonight.

Thank you so much for your kind words, I have passed your comments on to my good lady who, whilst being pleased at finishing the cake in time for this weekend still manages to find little faults in it, she is a bit of a perfectionist on certain things and being as it is a gift for someone in the family she is being rather hard on herself.

It was a pleasure to share the Plo8 table with you last night amongst others too numerous to mention, Rose,Geldy, etc etc.the banter and cammeraderie is second to none, long may that continue, I cannot make this evenings Play as very soon I am expecting an email from work which is defo going to have major impact on me and I will not be in a good space, sorry to bring the tone down. Good luck tonight.

Well good luck tonight. You know where we will be. You would never bring the tone down because we wouldn't let you. You never know we could even make you smile. But respect your decision. We are all here for you no matter what.

it was a delight to share the table with such a crowd, and so nice to hear of Mrs Gooduns magnificent assets, I mean skills.

and as for the email from work
well you've already got some willing peeps on here to help you with it
but if not i once had a couple of decorators that when told of a builder that was giving me grief happily offered to go round and break his legs
although we politely refused the image certainly perked us up

beautiful cake Tom, such skill. this is something my daughter loves to do, she is 9 years old and she watches a show called 'Cake Boss' (among every other cooking and baking show on TV) Its about an italian American who is unsurprisingly.....a Boss of a Cake shop.

Now any time she discusses or talks about baking cakes she sounds as if she comes from Brooklyn.......

ps I am always a complete luckbox in hi lo :-)

    Hi James
I haven't been making the points for the Vegas promo although I have been sorely tempted, I usually only play 3 or 4 days a week so that sort of rules me out really, then again if I did put my mind to it my game is suited to these :)
Life wise I am bearing up, we had some awful news today (not anything to do with my work or health) which sort of puts thing into perspective that I am not the only one suffering in the family and should be grateful for all I have.
I am so grateful for the messages of support and good wishes from lots of people on here and in my family, I don't know what I have done to deserve it, I guess some folk like a belligerent old sod like me :)
I wish you all the best my good man.

That does not sound good, Tom. Your family will still be there for you though, & you for them.

My Dad had a really strange saying when things happened which I did not want, or like.

    "Everything happens for a reason"

Which never made much sense to me at the time. Eventually, though, I held that saying by my side whenever things looked a bit dark.

And generally, when bad things happened, it opened new doors, & good things came from it in the end.

I worked for a Business for around 20 years, until I was about 35 - then it went busto. I had no job, no home, no car, no money, no nothing, as I had loaned them all my money in a stupid effort to help the business survive. Lost the lot. I had nothing. Not even anywhere to live. It was the dumbest thing I ever done.

Within 48 hours, I'd been offered a job elsewhere, just for 6 months. That 6 months became 22 years, & was the most enjoyable, satisfying & successful thing I'd ever done, in "work" terms.

I had thought losing my job was a disaster. It was not, it was an opportunity.

Whatever happens Tom, you'll be fine.

Sounds like you are having fun with all the PLO8 guys & girls, too. I miss that crew so much, they are the best. No aggro, no bad blood, just folks having a good time, & being nice to each other. Nice is lovely.

    Have a good weekend mate.

Hi Tom, the cake looks stunning.

My ex brother-in-law has been married three times, he loves wedding cake apparently, I'll let him know where to come for his next one.  Could be a lot of repeat business for the missus.
