The Road To Punta Cana

edited November 2015 in Poker Chat
Hi all.

My journey started last night, when I travelled to Manchester to stop in A hotel, before checking in at 6.30 this morning.

Luckily enough, my hotel was in the airport, so I avoided any stress, until going through security. Always makes me nervous. Not that I should have anything to be nervous about.

After some mild suspicion about a box of business cards, I'm through and looking for some breakfast!

To anyone on the Manchester flight, come and say hello. I'll be the guy wandering about in duty free, wearing a Sky Poker hoody.

Meanwhile, I am flying from Heathrow via Paris, but my Air France flight from Heathrow (AF 1481) has been delayed by 90 minutes, (due to thick fog) so I may miss my connection in Paris. That'll be fun.

Ha, no, not at all. Sky Poker booked the flight, but as I had a delay getting my new passport, it was not booked until quite recently, so the indirect flight via Paris was the only option. I don't mind, "first world problems" don't phase me.

Arsenal to win the EPL this season? Another nice result on Saturday.

Fog here at Heathrow is getting thicker by the minute, but they have just announced a revised take off time of 9.15. We have not begun boarding yet though.

Ohh well dont mean to rub it in then but BA had a Business Class sale to Punta Cana a few weeks back for not much more than economy class!

I feel your pain re the fog, I am flying to Munich tomorrow for the game and its a bit of a pea souper out there........

As for the PL, providing we dont have our usual annual blow up anything is possible.

Good luck in Munich. It's Arsenal, anything is possible. Tough gig, mind.

PL? Ditto. A banana skin or two usually presents itself.

Think Arsenal need another striker before even considering a title challenge. Lacazette possible a likely option that i would personally look at if i was Wenger.

Did you get your flights ok tikay?

Team Bromley landed, all present and correct.

    It's a bit warm.

    Let's do this.

I have arrived too, I have already met some of the Sky lot, it's like Nat says it's warm. It's ok so far apart from being held up at check in by some couple struggling with their booking

Flying to Seville in 10 hours, so we're also sweating the fog!

glgl in Munich, great city and fantastic stadium. I was there when we stuffed em 3-2, even after gifting them a 2 goal head start.

What are Bayern charging you out of interest?

Hope you are going to be respecting the champions league theme tune, because booing it is so shameful. I mean taking £1M payouts for consultancy supposedly done years before with no written contract or invoices is fine and any linkage in timing to pulling out of a challenge for a leadership contest is of course purely coincidental. Nowt wrong there. But boo a theme tune pah! Probably lead to a 5 year ban for all English clubs.

Hope you made it harry. BM are charging us 50 euros for the ticket which is around £37.

They complain about our ticket prices we complain about their beer prices ! At least the pound is strong vs the euro which means more schnitzel/bratwurst for our buck!

    Hi Donald,

Yes, I got my flights ok eventually, thank you, and I arrived safe and sound.

Unfortunately, my luggage did not make it beyond Paris, where it will remain until the next flight on Wednesday, and I have been told I will be reunited with it - and all my Caribbean style summer clothes etc - on Thursday.

I feel a bit of a Charlie walking around in my jeans, rugby top and clunky shoes out here.

These are known as "first world problems" I believe.

What a blessing in disguise. At least the guys out there won't be subjected to the pink short turquoise sock combo for a few days

Glad you made it OK TK. I've had a great time so far!

If you need to borrow clean t-shirts/shorts socks etc. let me know.

    I'm in room 1439.

Is there a Sky welcome party tonight? If so, where and when?

Good luck to all Sky players. Feel free to try and call the room if you want to meet up.

Hopefully I am entered in day1A tomorrow, but need to confirm this.

    All the best!

    Cheers,

    Graham

    Hi Graham,

We are due to meet in the Cardroom/Casino at 5pm this evening (just over 2 hours from now), so we can sort Registration for tomorrow then if need be.

Clothes? That's very kind of you to offer. You do know I'm a cool guy though, can't just wear ANY clothes, they need to be crucial.

See you at 5pm. I'm in 5128 if you need anything urgently. I've not seen JP since we arrived, though I had reports he was getting wasted in a bar last night. No sign of him before or since.

After we have sorted the registrations etc tonight, I think the lads & planning on a bit of a get-together, probably hook up in a bar of somesuch.

I just bumped into Ivanovic & his young lady, also the Bromleys.

Oh, & chatted with Sir Gary, who won his seat with one of the little sites, Coral I think.

    Hahaha!

I think JP and Sam must have gone through the same training.

No sign of JP, cant think where he would be......

The poker tournament is not the sole event here this week at Hard Rock Resort either - it shares top billing with, if you don't mind, the Swimsuit USA International World Finals.
