Big hand for CELTICFAN. J 9 6   4 Our guy is holding JQ, and gets it in on the turn. Villain calls with 78, meaning we need only need to avoid a 5 or 10 for a double up.

He's now off to the Casino to play some cash, before taking another shot tomorrow.

Right...off to bed for a much needed early night. Good luck to everyone still playing and hoping to wake up tomorrow to news of big stacks going through to day 2.

    Right... we're due some updates.

Few interesting ones, so I'm splitting it up a bit.

    Less interesting below;

    Radiofed28 20k... still.
    Alvez11 75k... still.
CxE1 10k... 10 big blinds and looking for a double.

    StayOrGo;

Down to 10k and calls a raise to 2k pre with 9s10s.

    Flop -  J X X - two spades.

Graham bets 6k into 8k and gets a caller, leaving him with 2k and change behind.

    Turn -  Spade.

Rest of the chips go in, and the other guy shows 2 red aces.

All going well, after that hand, and we're now up to 27k.

    GGGGCCCC;

    JP: Anything interesting?
    GGGGCCCC: Flopped a set.

No more needs to be said.

    Up to 80k.

In other news... Tikay keeps disappearing to "sort out the luggage problem".

However, I've only seen him with a coffee once all weekend.

I'm starting to think his luggage arrived with him, and he's been sneaking off in search of a latté.

    ^^^^^^^

Luggage just arrived - 11,30pm Wednesday.

    BOOM

Carnage out there. carnage, & we lose not one, but two players within minutes.

CxE1 departed, he lost a bunch early when his Kings got busted, & it was always uphill after that. He'll be fine, he has his young daughter with him, so he'll be able to chill with her for the next few days.

Than radiofed28 - yes, named after Radiohead, & he's a bit of a Jonny Greenwood lookalike - also departed, blind on blind.

In case you are not up with the music scene, here's Jonny Greenwood, who really strutted his stuff in Creep.

On a lighter note, we're going in to the final level of the day, with 3/7 Sky Poker players remaining.

Alvez11 - Down to 55k but still 5k above average. Nothing terrible has happened, but nor has anything good.

StayOrGo - It's really picking up for Graham after a bit of a slow start. Raises from the Cut-Off. Button calls. BB shoves. Graham calls and the button passes. "It's a flip". JJ holds against AK, to double Graham up. Now sat with 55k.

GGGGCCCC - I arrive at the table to see GGGGCCCC 3 Bet to around 20k. That's 20 BBs, which seems like quite a big raise. One caller.

    Flop:  6 3 2 Rainbow.

    GGGGCCCC - All In.
    Villain - Call.

    GGGGCCCC -  AA
    Villain -  JJ

    T -  5
    R -  10

Another double up for a Sky Player, and the first of ours to break the 100k mark.

    Ups and Downs...

StayOrGo - Lost two big hands in the last 10 minutes, both to the same guy, who is now sat with 150k. Down to around 18k, and is in need of a double up tonight.

GGGGCCCC - Added another 50k to his 100k stack. Very comfortable and crushing the table.

Alvez11 - No ups or downs here. Still sat with 55k, which is now average.

Day 1a is over, and the 247 players have been cut down to 97.

Average is now just under 65k, and we have 3 of 7 Sky Poker players all set to return for day 2 on Friday.

    Final chip counts below;

    Alvez11 - 64k
    GGGGCCCC -  164k
    StayOrGo -  20k

Great work JP and Tikay.  Thanks guys.

Had to be Alvez on the karaoke and I'm pretty sure he'd be singing 'Runaway' by the Corrs.

6am here and tables getting quiet.

In Response to Re: The Road To Punta Cana : Have to say, Don, Sky Poker have done the players proud, what with Punta Cana & Viva Las Vegas, think about 56 packages have been won this year. This place is amazingly good, & for Viva Las Vegas, the players stayed at the luxurious Venetian.

Cheers for the reports back JP....good to read over a morning coffee. You could have done with some help over there to ease your workload. Make sure you have a few beers to unwind each day. Anything anyone needs over there which costs....stick it on Tikay's room.

Good Luck all playing today....and congrats those who made it through y/day.

    Great updates.

JP don't let Tikay off lightly like we did in Vegas. He barely left the media room unless he was going to Starbucks or bed.
  • edited November 2015
Good luck all, and especially Graham hope you can turn it around and get some DU's soon.

Can I just say it MBN to be Stayorgo right now. Playing poker in the Caribbean while still being the 'best'* player on Sky Poker. Brilliant Graham, GL for day two.

Busted last night, feeling a little down going back to room. My young daughter wakes up as i enter room. I give her my bad news. She jumps out of bed with a huge grin and gives me a bear hug "now we can spend all our time together". The best getting knocked out EVER.
As for JP and Tikay...This hotel has everything except for Specsavers. It's been great meeting everyone
Good luck to all the guys and gals, may the poker gods smile on you.

Good luck to everyone playing their day one today, will pop down and see how its going at some point! Sucks to bust but like the above it means more time to spend with gf on a holiday we'd never be able to have otherwise.

Cheers sky and great job jp/tikay with all the updates.

Good luck to all playing today, and it's not a disaster if you get knocked out there's worse places to be with time on your hands

Good afternoon to you all from a blisteringly hot day here in Hispaniola.

It's 1.40pm here, & play will begin at 3pm Local for Day 1b.

No sign of JP, though various reports place him in an assortment of bars, accompanied by sundry Swimsuit USA 2015 contestants.

We had 7 players yesterday - we spotted them all eventually - & 3 of them survived through to Day 2, which will be tomorrow (Friday).

That leaves 9 players to take their chance today, so a run down of the runners & riders will follow momentarily.

BobbyBoy & BigBob are both here already, waiting to get started. Not seen the others today yet. Probably in a bar with JP somewhere.

Also playing today as an "adopted" Team Member is Natterley Bromley. I do diss Natterley a bit, but the more astute amongst you will know that means I love her to bits, & she has been very kind to Gill & I personally in many ways.

Sir Gary is here too, but he is NOT playing the Punta Cana Classic, the package he won was for another Event which starts tomorrow.

So there we go, 9+1, gives us our Tenacious Ten.

Needless to say, the beast was stunned.
    Whip-crack went his Whoopy tail,
    And the beast was done.
He asked us: "(snort) Be you angels?"
And we said, "Nay. We are but men."
    Rock!
    Ahhh, ahhh, ahhh-ah-ah,
    Ohhh, whoah, ah-whoah-oh

And now for something completely different.

Whilst we await start of play, here's a question for you.

Is this story true or false?

And if it were you, would you have reported it, or kept schtum?

It's been great meeting you Vinny!

If you get a minute, pop down to the tournament area, and I'll update you on our plans for the rest of our time here!
  • edited November 2015

With 15 minutes to "Shuffle Up & Deal" we are still missing one player, so a search party has been organised.

We need to know BEFORE play starts if he is here or not.

If he does not show by 3pm, we'll be in dire straits, but Private Investigations continue.

It's a mystery to me, the game commences
For the usual fee, plus expenses
    Confidential information, it's a diary
This is my investigation, it's not a public inquiry
