In Response to ***2016*** TLB Charity Competiton Feel Free to join and/or support!:
Firstly a big thank you to all the people that made the 2015 TLB Charity competition a resounding success! Please post on this thread if you would like to be involved as a Competitor in 2016. Existing and New Competitors are all welcome. It would be great to add some "New Blood" to the already existing quality players that entered this last year. If you are an existing 2015 Competitor and you want to be involved again in 2016, it will be assumed that your charity will be the same as last year, however if you want to change it, that will be fine. Although it would need to be for a charity that is not already represented. Please update this thread with your wishes. Also, thanks so much to the generous "Sponsors" of last year. The response was truly overwhelming. Please post on this thread if you would like to sponsor us for 2016. The rules for "Competitors" can be found below: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Each competitor donates £50 to the charity prize pool. The pay outs for the Primary Tournament Leader Board competition will be split between the top 4 charities: First:      40% Second:  30% Third:     20% Fourth:   10%.   In addition to the £50 per competitor, money sponsored that is pledged for the prize pool will go into this prize pool only (ie. not the "Tournament Wins" prize pool.) Also any other monies raised (UKPC initiative for example), will also be allocated to this prize pool unless specified otherwise. The winner of the Tournament Leader Board challenge (most profit made from scheduled tournaments in 2016, according to Sharkscope) will receive a cup. The name of this cup will be "The Tim Carter TLB Poker Cup" Moving on to the Secondary competition. This is a "Tournament Wins" competition, and points are awarded to players who win a major tournament. The points allocation is as follows: Main Event Win: 10pts Mini Event Win:    7pts £55BH Win:         2pts (including £55 Speed BH) For UKOPS the same point system applies. For clarification, any £55 UKOPS BH side events, will also be worth 2 points, although £55 side events, that are not Bounty Hunters carry no points. The High Roller will be considered a main event. In the event of a tie on points, the person who won the most Main Events will win, if this is tied then it goes to the person who has won the most Mini's. If everything is tied then the prize money is split equally. For each event won, the competitor donates £10, that goes to a prize pool specifically for this competition.(Competitors can "opt out" of this side comp if they wish and just enter the TLB aspect of the competition.) Unless notified by 31/01/2016 it is assumed competitors are involved in both the TLB comp and the "Tournament Wins" comp. This prize pool will be split between the charities of the top 4 point scorers, as follows: (same split as TLB) First:      40% Second:  30% Third:     20% Fourth:   10%. The winner of this "side" competition will receive a shield. The name of this shield will be "The Poker Tournament Wins Charity Shield". Also if you don't play enough to be involved in the leader board, why not sponsor one of us for an amount of your choice. There are a number of ways you can sponsor us. It can go to a specific charity or be added to the prize pool fund for the winning charities, the choice is yours. Registration for competitors is now open (please post on this thread if you want to be involved.) Registration will be closed on 31/01/2016. Lets see if we can make the 2016 TLB charity comp as successful as last year. Thanks again to all those who suported this is 2015 and best of luck at the tables in 2016! Cheers, Graham (StayOrGo)

Which charity would you like to represent Jordz?

All the best for 2016 and thank you once again for supporting this initiative. Please feel free to enter the free heads up comp too. Just two days left to reg.

    Cheers,

I am in. Couple of questions, but in whatever is decided.

Are we using sharkscope or Aussiescope? Aussie is less likely to miss big games, I know scope missed some UKOPS events (my win!) but doesn't include smaller games (under £500 guarantee I think it is). However Aussie doesn't include sat wins so for eg I would lose my WSOP package win. So is swings and roundabouts and I think both had the same finishing positions for everyone.

Also, any thoughts on amending the points per comp? Should 9pm maybe get more than speed?

    Just for discussion peeps

Hi Matt, really glad you are in for 2016! Will you be supporting "STEP UP" again?

Thanks for the input. I really want the TLB to represent ALL profit, so would like to stick with sharkscope, I think including sat values is fine. Yes, it is frustrating if Sharkscope misses a result, but hopefully that won't happen in the "big" comps next year. If it does, unless they correct it, I think we need to just go with their total for better or worse.

Having said that, Aussie has done some great work and if he could provide totals for ALL MTT's (including sats and < £500G)we could use that. One reason, is that on the trophy, the total won is engraved each year, so we need consistency (ie full profit total of all MTT's in $), for it to be meaningful and comparable.

Regarding your comment about the points for the two £55BH's. I can see that the 9pm should perhaps carry more points that the Speed, so we could perhaps award 3 pts for the 9pm. However again, the points total is recorded on the trophy, so I didn't want too much fluidity. Also from an admin perspective, it is easier to just have 2pts for each.

So I'd like to leave it as it is, but, contrary to popular belief, I'm not a dictator. :=) So if there is strong support for 3 points for the 9pm, we can do that. Although that could bring it too close to the main and mini points.

All the best for 2016 mate! Good to see you on the leader board already!

    Cheers,

    Graham

Many thanks for this Aussie, is it possible to count totals based on all results? (Including sats and MTT's < £500G)

This is because I really want it to be ALL profit, and as the profit totals are also engraved on the CUP each year, I need the criteria to be consistent throughout the years.

If this is too complex and/or too much work, if it's OK with you, we will continue using Sharkscope for the TLB leader board, and your system for the "Tournament Wins" competition.

Thanks again for all your assistence last year!

    Cheers,

    Graham

    hi graham,

i dont mind at all.  sharkscope count nearly everything as you know, whereas my stats are focussed on the £500+ GTD MTTs.  this gives a more reliable way of interpreting the figures, especially when trying to compare performances of players.  more confidence.

i was happy to help in 2015.

you've done a great job.  good luck in 2016.

Many thanks for your help and understanding Rob.

If it's OK, for the reasons mentioned previously, I will use sharkscope for the TLB2016 total profit comp.

However, I would love it, if you could still track the "Tournament Wins" points in 2016.

By the end of January, I will have a complete list of COMPTITORS:

    However, for now, it is:

    rspca12
    FeelGroggy
    Jordz16
    Wacko90
    MattBates
    Limp2Lose
    StayOrGo

    Cheers,

Following on from Matt's post here.

I don't want to majorly change the points scoring system, so that we have consistency through the years. The points will be engraved each year, on the trophy, for comparison.

However we could just reduce the Speed BH to 1pt. It will mean that Chris's figure of 84pts this year, will be a little harder to catch, but it doesn't change it too much, so we could do that.

Any thoughts? My vote is to leave it at 2pts, but if the concensus from other competitors, is reduce it to 1pt, I am happy to go with that. Please let me know your preference.

    Cheers,

    Graham

Hi Tim. Great to have you on board as a Competitor!

Is this the correct website for your charity?

Are you OK with how it all works? Effectively you pledge £50 to the charity prize pool for the TLB winner's charities, and £10 per main, mini or £55BH that you win in 2016, that goes to the "Tournament Wins" prize pool.

If you finish in the top4 of either you win money for REG. The prizepools are split 40/30/20/10 between the top four for both competitions.

What an appropriate charity too! If it's OK, could you PM me your email address and surname please Tim.

Best of luck for 2016, thrilled to have you join us.

    Cheers,

    Graham

    All the best Tim!

I am delighted to announce that Ryan Spittles (Scotty77) will be joining us again this year as a COMPETITOR!

Despite not being able to play as many Sky tournaments, and compete as he would like as he would perhaps like (due to live commitments), he is still prepared to support TLB2016 as a COMPETITOR!

I really hope you have a successful 2016 Ryan, you deserve it!  Thanks again for your continued support.

    Cheers,

    Graham

This is an unbelievably good cause. I spent some time with the Trussell Trust over Christmas; I took time off work and volunteered at the Food Bank.

It was humbling, to say the least!

    Well done Chris.

    Ps

Forgot to say that I think Adam and I will both be joining you again this year.

I need to make sure I maintain consistency and keep the bottom of that leader board propped up. Someone has to take one for the team. So I will scale back on taking down too many tournaments and make sure that last place is safe.

I also want to see a girl in there!
