I'm suprised that no-one picked up on my reference to pengiuns yesterday and replied by saying something like "with the amount of fish in poker, penguins should be in their element"

    Event 16 - $1500 NLH 6-max, Day 3 of 3, 1748 entrants
This has gone to Californian Anthony Marquez, with $393K coming his way.

Just 23 hands of heads-up was necessary for him to beat Canadian Demosthenes Kiriopoulos, but the real killer was the hand with 4 left when Marquez dispatched both Steven Buckner and Daniel Weinman in the same hand.

    Event 17 - $10K Dealers Choice 6-Max Championship, Day 2 of 3, 102 entrants
One of the best players without a bracelet no more, John Racener has finally collected his first silverware 7 years after being the runner-up in the 2010 Main Event.

At one point on the FT, Racener was struggling but as soon as it got to 4-handed (after the elimination of Mike "The Mouth" Matusow) Racener dominated and finished off the other three players quite quickly.

First Daniel Eichhorn went out in a hand of Pot-Limit 2-7 Lowball, then the action turned to NLH (Racener's choice) where he busted first Chris Klodnicki and then on the very next hand Viacheslav Zhukov.

    Event 18 - $565 PLO, Day 2 of 3, unlimited re-entry (2 starting flights), 3186 entries
We're down to 9 so the FT and we have 5 different nationalities represented. Jessie Bryany (USA) has the chip lead, Igor Sharaskin (Russia) is second and Canadian Scott Davies 3rd. Belgium and the Czech Republic also still have players involved.

The last two British players both collected $11754 after disppearing one after the other - Adam Owen finished in 13th and the legend that is Joe Beevers 14th. Darren Taylor finished 48th for $4412.

    Event 20 - $1500 Millionaire Maker, NLH, 5 Day Event (including 2 Day 1s), 3438 entries on Day 1A
535 players have made Day 2 (on an increased Day 1A field from last year) and Day 1A has ended with a Bulgarian at the top - Boris Kolev. Kolev has been around the EPT for the last couple of years but has more of a reputation as an online player - ranked 192nd in the Pocket Fives online rankings.

Barry Hutter, in comparison, is a live player with 11 6-figure scores to his name (4 of which came within a golden 6-week period in the autumn of 2015) and won a bracelet in a shootout event earlier that same year.

Top Brit is the little-known Graeme Hibbert with Tom Hall, Gareth Nelson, Chun Yam, Christian Christner, Daniel Carter, Simon Deadman, Adrien Delmas, Chris Moorman, Scott Margereson, Oliver Simpson and Martynas Vitkauskas all marked as "GB" in the Day 1 end of day listings.

    Event 21 - $1500 Eight Game Mix 6-Max, Day 1 of 3, 472 entrants
Seventy one of the 104 players who bagged chips on Day 1 will cash on Day 2, with Chris Vitch , Dennis Morrison and Christopher Sensoli an all-American top 3.

Three UK players remain, headed by frequent Sky Poker TV guest Sam Grafton, with WSOP regular Stephen Chidwick and Stephen Woodhead the other two.

I was going to list some of the notables, and helpfully the WSOP have picked out the following for me "Other names include five-time bracelet winner Jason Mercier (11,700) and his wife Natasha Mercier (11,900), three-time bracelet winners Barry Greenstein (3,800) and Eli Elezra (22,400), and former November Niner Josh Beckley (33,000)."

    Morning all.

These Updates by FCHD are, as expected, splendid.

I know many of you are reading them, but there has not been a comment by anyone for 3 or 4 days now, & it must be a bit dispiriting for Barny. (Not that he'd ever complain).

A quick note of appreciation goes a long way.

    I'll start with a +1, let's get a +2, +3 etc.

Great thread. I have read with interest yet haven't commented, poor form really.

Many thanks for posting these Barny. In a few weeks I look forward to seeing my name in one of your posts, I suspect it may be in one of the following formats:-

Sky player Enut was one of the first out having massively overplayed a bluff

Sky player Enut was one of the first out having forgotton how to play NLH

Sky player Enut blinded out after his wife decided they had 'other plans'

Or any combination of the above.

    Event 18 - $565 PLO, Day 3 of 3, unlimited re-entry (2 starting flights), 3186 entries
The largest live PLO event ever has gone to Tyler Smith. Smith held the lead most of the day and used his big stack to great advantage. Heads-up wasn't much of a grind at all, coming in with a 6:1 lead over Jason Stockfish, it was all over within one hand.

Igor Sharakin was third and best of the Europeans with previous bracelet winner Scott Davies, while seventh place man John Dallaire was allegedly playing his first ever PLO tournament.

    Event 20 - $1500 Millionaire Maker, NLH, 5 Day Event (including 2 Day 1s), 7761 entries
The total number of entrants and the prize pool for the Millionaire Maker is now known after the second and final Day 1 which saw 4323 entries, making the total 7761.

670 or so made it through Day 1B with an all-American top 6 headed by Brian Altman, Billy Graybeal and Adam White.

Kenny Hallaert is top well-known player lying 10th

"GB" players through (in chip order) - Romain Lewis, Daniel Barriocanal, Fraser McIntyre, Stephen Woodhead, Harry Lodge, Matt Davenport, Craig McCorkell, Tim Flanders, Sergio Espina Aido, Lucas Blanco, David McConnachie, Louis Salter, Damien Le Goff, Sadan Turker, Patrick Leonard, Shola Akindele, Daniel Bland and Matas Cimbolas

Two players who already have one bracelet on the wrist this year, David Pham and John Racener are also through.

The eventual winner will collect $1.2m, a min-cash will be $2249 and with 1187 players left in and 1165 to be paid, those min-cash slips are going to get handed out very quickly.

    Event 21 - $1500 Eight Game Mix 6-Max, Day 2 of 3, 472 entrants
There are just 10 players left in the 8-game, with Gregory Jamison having a decent overnight lead over the other nie.

A couple of the final 10 already have bracelet - Frenchman Fabrice Soulier and Day 1 leader Christopher Vitch.

Of the 3 Brits, Stephen Woodhead bust before the cash (and then jumped into the Millionaire Maker, see above), Sam Grafton min-cashed for $2259 and Stephen Chidwick earned $2883 for 38th spot.

    Event 22 - $10K 2-7 Draw Lowball Championship No Limit, Day 1 of 3, single re-entry, 92 entries

The latest of the big money buy in events saw just 67 players and 25 re-entries making 92 entries, down from an even hundred last year.

The chip leader is a less-than-familiar name to me, Jon Turner, but looking at his Hendon Mob database page sees he has had consistent results for a number of years, and has made the FT of this very event in both 2015 & 2013.

As you would expect in a $10K event, plenty of big names in contention with Mike Leah, John Monnette, Robert Mizrachi & Shaun Deeb lying 2-3-4-5.

Recent bracelet winner John Racener is among the others as is one UK player, Usman Siddique. (Adam Owen went out early, Richard Ashby midway through the day and both Stephen Chidwick and Benny Glaser departed late on)

    Some familiar names there.

Harry Lodge won a Sky Poker UKPC for £60,000 just 2 years ago, since when he seems to have been on a World tour & has collected nice wins & cashes right across the globe, including a bunch of cashes at the 2016 WSOP.

Tim Flanders is a friend of mine from many years ago, goes by the nick of Hi Diddley Hi. Tim's wife, Pippa, was here last year but very unwell indeed with a terminal illness. I do hope she is OK, or not suffering too much, she is perfectly lovely.

Patrick Leonard is the Online phenom known as Pleno. Newcastle lad, lives in Twickenham now with two 3 legged dogs.

Shola Akindele is Simon Deadman's better half, smashing girl, very good player.

Matas Cimbalos twice cashed in the UKPC Main (4th & 10th) & then won the UKPC High Roller for 60 large, & he's been getting the lot all over the place ever since.

Breakfast time update, all events below are still ongong so will require a further update later on.

    Event 20 - $1500 Millionaire Maker, NLH, Day 2 of 4, 7761 entries
Play ongoing, they've just started the last level of the night.

Recent departures include Simon Deadman, former November Niner Jeremy Ausmus and star of this thread Rex Clinkscales.

181 remain, with the Day 1 chip leader Brian Altman still up around the top.

    Event 21 - $1500 Eight Game Mix 6-Max, Day 3 of 3, 472 entrants
It is currently heads up with Ron Ware and Mike Ross playing for the bracelet.

Fabrice Soulier exited in 3rd and Sachin Bhargava fourth.

    Event 22 - $10K 2-7 Draw Lowball Championship No Limit, Day 2 of 3, single re-entry, 92 entries
A round dozen are still in-play, wth John Monnette having the current chip leader ahead of Darren Elias and the magnificently named Xavier Kyablue.

Day 1 chip leaders Jon Turner and Mike Leah still survive, but the last British player Usman Siddique was an early Day 2 casualty.

Event 23 - $2620 The Marathon (100 minute levels), Day 1 of 5, TBD entries
The very early stages of the Marathon, late registration won't close until the start of Day 2.

I don't trust the chip count pages during this point in a tournament unless they show a player with zero chips, which is where they show Chris Moorman.

    Event 24 - $1500 Limit Hold'em, 3 Day Event, 616 entries
252 remain at this point, with a lot of multiple bracelet holders among them (Hellmuth, Mercier, Ferguson, Michael Mizrachi etc.)

As usual, not much British interest in a Limit event, but Benny Glaser has been mentioned in updates.

    To start today

    Updates
    Event 20
136 players still have the dream of becoming Millionaires in a couple of days time. Senovio Ramirez III (the III must be important) has held the chip lead for big chunks of Day 2 and holds the overnight advantage.

Senovio has 1.57m chips, with one of those Spaniards resident in the UK, Lucas Blanco nearest to him with 1.3m and Daniel Lee from Korea third with 1.2m more or less.

If the rest of the nationalites on the WSOP site are correct, the only Brit to cheer for is Scott Margereson who has less than 10% of the chip leader's stack and is in 119th place at the end of Day 2.

    Event 21
Chalk this one up for Grumpy. Not one of Snow White's dwarves, but poker player Ron Ware who finished third in this event 12 months ago, went two better to defeat Mike Ross heads-up. Ware gets $145K, Ross nearly $90K.

    Event 22
Only eight remain, headed by two-time bracelet winner John Monnette who is the only player with over a million chips in his bag.

The next two players, Darren Elias and Mike Leah are in the 600K range and former Player of the Year Mike Gorodinsky has 591K.

This plays to a finish from 10pm our time tonight.

    Event 23
The very principle of the Marathon is a slow and steady tournament with almost half the opening day field of 1647 surviving into Day 2, plus late reg is still open until cards are in the air tonight.

Ukrainian player Igor Yaroshevskyy holds a chip lead over the wonderfully alliterative Rigoberto Rodriguez and Maurice Hawkins

Darren Judges from London is 15th, Roberto Romanello (those initials again) 37th, Niall Farrell 39th and Pratik Ghatge 49th with a player from God's own country, Kenneth Broad from Looe, Cornwall 51st.

Some other "names" still in include recent bracelet winner Adrian Mateos, former November Niners Robert Salaburu, Vojtech Ruzicka and Bruno Politano, Koray Aldemir, Taylor Paur, Ari Engel and Frank Kassela.

    Event 24
132 Limit players make Day 2 with 2 of them bagging 6-figure stacks - Michael Reed and Jeff Thmompson. Better known players who make Day 2 include Barry Greenstein, Alex Luneau, Ronnie Bardah and Brock Parker.

No Brits though, so we can move along.

Barny Boatman has had 3 small cashes so far, Ross hasn't been spotted in any chip listings that I've seen

    Gasp.

Not sure if you are aware of who Kenny Broad is, & his background, but if I were you Barny, I'd keep any comments about Kenny "warm and friendly".

He was living near Liskeard last I heard. I could write a book about Kenny. But I won't.

There's a film in there somewhere that's why poker is so good you never really know who you are playing against. I am just guessing we are not talking about the anthropologist :-)

    Event 20 - $1500 Millionaire Maker, NLH, Day 3 of 4, 7761 entries
After another long day, we have fourteen players moving on to what should be the final day of the Millionaire Maker.

Local player Ralph Perry is top dog ahead of Daniel Chan and Bryce Yockey.

A player from Ireland with a very un-Irish name, Yuriy Boyko is fourth, one of two players from the Emerald Isle still involved (Marc MacDonnell is 11th)

The last British player, Lucas Blanco, was knocked out in 37th for $28160.

A mention for Kenny Hallaert who came close to making final tables in vast fields for a third straight year (after the 2015 Colossus and the 2016 Main Event) he made the last two tables but bowed out in 17th.

    Event 22 - $10K 2-7 Draw Lowball Championship No Limit, Day 3 of 3, single re-entry, 92 entries
It's a third bracelet for John Monnette as he led most of the final day and beat Per Hildebrand heads-up. Monette's previous wins came in 2011 (8-game mix) and 2012 (Stud).

He picks up $256 for his efforts, Swede Hildebrand $158K and Darren Elias $110 for third.

Of the other better known player at the FT, they went out early - Paul Volpe in 8th, Mike Leah 7th and Mike Gorodinsky 6th.

    Event 23 - $2620 The Marathon (100 minute levels), Day 2 of 5, 1759 entries
It truly is a marathon as we're at the end of Day 2 and we still haven't (quite) burst the bubble.

264 will get paid a minimum of $3934, but 268 players were able to bag chips at the end of the night.

Maurice Hawkins needed the biggest bag, with 920K chips in it. Aussie Alexander Lynskey was second with two-thirds of the leader's stack, and Event 15 winner Adrian Mateos in third.

Michael Kane is a well-known player here on Sky (I don't track the big games enough to know whether he still plays here) and was shown with just 1 chip on the Day 1 listings, well he's doing considerably better than that now as he lies 7th overnight with over half a million.

Niall Farrell (also from Glasgow) lies just outside the top 10, Markus Kuhnen is 22nd and Darren Judges 32nd. Other GB players through - Harry Lodge, Pratik Ghatge, James Millman and Ben Dobson.

    Event 24 - $1500 Limit Hold'em, Day 2 of 3, 616 entries
Fifteen left with a Nguyen at the top. Not TV veteran Scotty, or even last year's ME winner Qui, but Nancy Nguyen, who has a sprinkling of WSOP cashes over the years (including one so far this series) is the chip leader at the end of the night.

The only previous bracelet winner is another TV veteran, Barry Greenstein. He has 3 but none of them in Hold'em.

    Event 25 - $1K PLO, Day 1 of 3, 1058 entrants
The bubble burst in this one, even before the last level of play commenced and we have 102 players going through.

Casey Carroll is numero uno at this point, ahead of Jia Mai and Jesse Fulmer, with the looming presence of The Grinder, Michael Mizrachi in 4th.

Fraser MacIntrye is top Brit in 4th (Scottish players doing well today) and he is accompanied by Darren Taylor, Chris Flint, Daniel Tang and Madhava Wimalaratna.

    Event 26 - $10K 7 Card Razz Championship, Day 1 of 3, 97 entries
Need a few zzzzzzzzzzz's? How about Don Zewin, Anthony Zinno and Andrey Zhigalov. They lie 2nd, 3rd and 4th in Event 26 after day 1, and you can throw in Viacheslav Zhukov in 9th there too.

They're all chasing the chip leader Frank Kassela though with 38 players holding on through Day 1.

Just the one Brit - Stephen Chidwick - and a blast-from-the-past in 33rd place, double ME FT'er (well before the days of the November Nine) Donnacha O'Dea.

    To start today
    Event 27 - $3K NLH 6-Max, 3 Day Event
    Event 28 - $1500 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball (Limit), 3 Day Event

    Event 20 - $1500 Millionaire Maker, NLH, Day 4 of 4, 7761 entries
The Millionaire Maker is over after a relatively early finish on Day 4.

It's a bracelet for Canada as Pablo Mariz rivered a pair of Queens to finish off rival Dejuante Alexander after a 23-hands long heads-up match.

Earlier, Alexander Farahi had finished third and the Irish pair Marc MacDonell and Yuriy Boyko ended up 4th and 6th.

Mariz (who was making his 4th cash of the series) had a previous best win a week ago of $9120 at this years PCA. He's knocked that into the distance now by first being a runner-up in the $1k Tag team ($46K) and now collecting $1.22m.

    Event 23 - $2620 The Marathon (100 minute levels), Day 3 of 5, 1759 entries
We are still in play with 77 left, and the good Sky news is that Michael Kane is among them. His chip count show he has slightly less than he did at the start of play but appears to be comfortable enough.

Maurice Hawkins retains the chip lead ahead of "the Toilet" Faraz Jaka and top Brit Pratik Ghatga.

    Event 24 - $1500 Limit Hold'em, Day 3 of 3, 616 entries
The second bracelet of the day (well actually it was the first because this finished a couple of hours before Event 20)

Shane Buchwald was playing in his very first WSOP event and ends up holding a 100% record. The Canadian, currently resident in Brazil, won the last 6 hands of the heads-up to beat Venkata "Sandy" Tayi.

All nine players on the FT were searching for their debut bracelet - Barry Greenstein having been knocked out in 11th.

    Event 25 - $1K PLO, Day 2 of 3, 1058 entrants
In play with 15 left and we have joint leaders, with one of the being UK player Darren Taylor and the other being Russian Igor Sharaskin.

Among the other 13 is 2014 November Niner Bruno Politano

    Event 26 - $10K 7 Card Razz Championship, Day 2 of 3, 97 entries
Still in play and we've recently lost the only British representative, Stephen Chidwick.

Ten left headed at present by James Obst but a whole host of good players are on his tail

    Event 27 - $3K NLH 6-Max, Day 1 of 3, 959 entrants
Very close to the end of Day 1 (3 hands to play has been declared) with about 300 still in. Some players reently mentioned as having chips include Sam Grafto, Annette Obrestad and Chris Ferguson.

    Event 28 - $1500 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball (Limit), Day 1 of 3, 326 entrants
49 will be paid (with the winner collecting $109K), so we're still some way off the money with about 114 players left and Day 1 play still ongoing (They are currently in Level 8 with 2 more after that to play tonight)

Our friend Stuart Rutter is shown as still having chips, but Benny Glaser and Adam Owen are among those who have left the Event.

    To start today
    Event 29 - $2500 NLH, 3 Day Event
    Event 30 - $10K HORSE Championship, 3 Day Event

The Darren Taylor in event 25 is a Sky regular. Was with us in Vegas in 2015.

    Good luck Darren.

Thanks Sam, never realised that. I knew he'd played a few of the UKPC events.

He's just bagged and tagged for the day with 11 left, having suffered a bit of a loss late on after tangling with the other chip leader. He's now in the middle of the pack and locked up a little over 10 grand.

He's got quite a mention in the end-of-day recap on the WSOP site.

Thanks for these great write-ups FCHD.

They help bring all the events to life.

    Keep up the good work,

    Ed.

Plays on Sky as? I know Michael Kane from here and UKPC, and think he has the ability to go on and FT/win his event. Good luck both anyway.

No updates on Anthony Kendall from the UK?. I have heard he is smashing it up over there. Three cashes from three events so far....on his way to making a million....;)

    Updates
    Event 23
Got to the end of Day 3 with 56 left, including Michael Kane from these parts. He has some British company on his Day 4 table as he is alongside Darren Judges on table 729.

Maurice Hawkins been at or near the top for days now, and he is second, behind only Faraz Jaka

    Event 25
Down to 11 and another Sky Poker player still in with a shout - Darren Taylor. He is in 6th with the man who grabbed a big chunk of his stack, Igor Sharakin, top of the listings. At the very bottom is Bruno Politano.

    Event 26
Finished Day 2 with 9 players, Aussie James Obst still leading the way.

    Event 27
I was quite a bit off with my guess of 300 or so players left in, the final end of night number was 201.

Craig Varnell, Jeffrey Coddington and Andy Spears are the top 3 with top Brit being Scott Margereson in 10th.

Other GB names listed - Chi Zhang (54th), Sam Grafton (62nd), Max Silver (71st), Tom Middleton (88th), Sadan Turker (105th), Lucas Blanco (147th) and Daniel Barriocanal (161st)

    Event 28
And it's a third tournament in which we can have some Sky Poker interest as Stuart Rutter is moving along nicely in the middle of the pack. 61 go forward to Day 2

    Early Thursday action update

    Event 23
Down to 49 already, no drama for Mr Kane. We have lost recent bracelet winner Adrian Mateos so that's a good sign. Still on the $12K payout line, next payjump is at 45 players when the recompense jumps to $14446.

    Event 25
Chip leader Sharaskin missed the first few hands by arriving late, but with lead perhaps he could afford to. Taylor not yet mentioned in updates, but chip counts page indicates he has picked up a few and moved up one position to 5th Still at 11 players as a couple of Politano shoves have not been called.

    Event 27
Does not restart for another 45 minutes.
