to be fair, the sites games seem to be above suspicion, its the fact that usa players cant play internet gaming sites in the usa and the poker sites thought they were being smart by pretending the money was for online shopping, it does mean that they owe about 3billion in taxes, so they in deep doo doo!
  • edited April 2011
if you visit the websites of the two biggest sites. you get a federal notice saying the FBI have seized the domains!!!

Nice find MrWhite. Up tp 30 years for bank/wire fraud. I would say this could be pretty serious.

I dont think many players will come here.  I think it is more likely they will go to party or 888

I'm no legal expert by any means but I know that online poker has been illegal in the states since 2006, since they deemed it a game of luck and not skill, but does anyone know why they took so long to act on it?

lol i noticed that a couple of months ago thats why all of a sudden a lot of new players were appearing i do believe .

just signed in on full tilt a lot of the american nosebleed players eg. twoSHAE are looking to just do flips cause they know they are never going to be able to withdraw.

wouldn't their best option be to transfer to someone in the uk who can then withdraw it ?
  • edited April 2011
my mate has had 2 us players ask if they can tranfer to them lol

Reuters News Content . NEW YORK, April 15 (Reuters) - The owners of three of the largest Internet poker companies operating in the United States were accused on Friday of tricking regulators and banks into processing billionsYES of dollars of illegal Internet gambling proceeds. Eleven people including the owners of Full Tilt Poker, Absolute Poker and PokerStars were charged with violating U.S. anti-Internet gambling laws, according to charges filed by federal prosecutors in Manhattan. The charges are part of a crackdown on Internet gambling in the United States, where it has been illegal since 2006. In March, Wynn Resorts Ltd said that it had entered into a partnership with PokerStars, and that they would work for passage of U.S. legislation that would define illegal Internet gambling. lol AJW!

The thread on 2+2 is a brilliant read....

you get 20 posts from people discussing the implications n stuff, then some guy pops up and says it's a level. lol.

I feel really sick for some people though.......like thousands of people all getting the sack at once, but much worse.

"You're sacked, and we're taking your last 4 months wages off you too"

    brutal.

Does anyone know if the people in the UK will get their money if they withdraw today?

    S*** just got real.

I hope they dont shut down my fulltilt and pokerstars accounts they are the only ones i got left lol!!!

on a side note i agree with pod1 hes spot on here by the way ,but theres a more complicated issue than all of it put together...

and im not getting into no-more arguments with no-one,so dont even bother  giving me no xxxx.!!

the dept of justice and the fbi will no doubtably be claiming back taxes and past due revnues off all those sites for violations, they will end up being registered again at a latter date i feel under a new body of government,!!

whoever investigated absolute poker tell them to look into my hand history files please ,I have got them all saved as with all my other info on a stored harddrive, imo!!

they usualy go after the people that have money ,so as in my case we know thats prolly not going to happen with me since I dont have any lol! still a birthday card or a xmas card from half those sites that i continually lost on would be a bonus.

I just hope Annie duke and Phil helmuth will grant me my apology when it comes out that I wasnt lying and just because I wasnt in thier calibre of class doesnt mean I dont know how to play poker!

Sometimes i did wonder why named player (willys) on fulltilt beat me with runner runner in ftops main event 3 years ago....I think now i realise he had at least a 10% chance of winnning AFTER THE FLOP!..

right im off another rant done with back to some serious work , btw missed my 4k open tonight for a live cash tourney game in my local social club,....finished 2nd in that too wooot!! shipped it all in on a bluff 100k odd with 83 offsuit on q99 board ..he called 100k more with q4. Ohh well glgl       xxxxx

Money laundering is illegal and therefore cheating. What else would you call it?

If they will try to cheat the US Government and flout international banking laws they don't really qualify for the honest company of the year award do they. The number of times people have posted that they are too big, too profitable to ever consider doing anything illegal runs into scores.

    Never say never.

The FBI have seized control of the servers and they (The FBI) are very very thorough. This will probably get bigger and bigger over the next few months. They have opened a can of worms IMO.

As far as poker goes it's these three sites, but there are some financial institutions involved too and that could be a bit risky if you have funds on Neteller for instance.

    ps. Your points are safe.
