The following is taken from Pokernews.com:

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, the poker world learned that the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) suspended the license of Full Tilt Poker and ordered the site to suspend all operations. According to preliminary reports, games on Full Tilt worldwide came to a sudden halt. The AGCC released the following statement on the matter:"Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) has today issued Hearing Notices under Regulation 46 of its Regulations to Vantage Ltd, Oxalic Ltd, Filco Ltd and Orinic Ltd, collectively trading as FULL TILT POKER.In addition, AGCC has issued Suspension Notices under Regulation 47 to the above named companies requiring them to suspend all operations with immediate effect. The decision to suspend these licenses follows a special investigation prompted by the indictments unsealed by US Attorney General’s Office in the Southern District of New York on 15th April 2011, during which grounds were found to indicate that these licensees and their business associates were operating contrary to Alderney legislation. The nature of the findings necessitated the taking of immediate action in the public interest. The venue and date for the hearing will be announced in due course.Issued by:André Wilsenach (Executive Director)
    Alderney Gambling Control Commission
    Alderney,
    Channel Islands
Date issued: 29th June 2011"In a separate statement, the AGCC added:"The above named companies must, until the Suspension Notices are cancelled or the Commissioners of AGCC have reached a determination at the conclusion of the hearing convened in accordance with Regulation 46 of the Alderney eGambling Regulations, 2009 cease to exercise their eGambling licenses, which means that these licensees must from today cease to: Register new customers;Accept deposits from existing customers;Allow existing customers to withdraw funds that are held in their accounts; andPermit customers to participate in any form of poker game play or gambling transaction. The Alderney Gambling Control Commission will hear the matters contained in the Hearing Notices at a Regulatory Hearing which will commence at 10.00am on Tuesday 26th July, 2011 at the Victoria Park Plaza Hotel, 239 Vauxhall Bridge Road, London SW1V 1EQ. In the event that there is a change to these details this notice will be amended."André Wilsenach, Executive Director of the AGCC, went on to say: "The decision to suspend the eGambling licence was in the public interest and, because of the seriousness and urgency of the matter, it required that immediate action be taken ahead of the regulatory hearing."For those who may recall, the aforementioned investigation is same which the alluded to in an earlier statement by the AGCC. For more on the AGCC back story, be sure to revisit PokerNews' interview with Michael Ellen, director of licensing and strategy for the AGCC.So far no word from Full Tilt, other that a banner on Fulltiltpoker stating: “Scheduled Maintenance In Progress - The system is currently down for maintenance. Please check back soon!”This is a breaking story and PokerNews will be sure to bring you all the developments as they happen.

My advice for anyone with money still on FTP:

Keep any and all info you have about your current FTP roll.
Get a screenshot if you can of your Cashier page on FTP (if possible, haven't played there in years).
If you can get in, I would advise you to make a withdraw request for your entire straight away, although I would not be confident of it's success.
If the amount is less than around $4000, look into a future small claims action through Alderney.

    Good luck.

TBH I am surprised Alan, but only due to the fact that this is, to my recollection, the first action of any Gaming Commission outside of cashing cheques.

Is there any precedent to any commissions suspending decent sized businesses?

They have previously suspended licences for obscure casino rooms. Their preliminary investigation must have found something not to their liking to instigate this action so quickly. I think it says ''of a serious nature'' or similar.

There may be some cover your backside involved in their actions. Depends on what they've found I suppose.

Trying to get confirmation on a rumour, will post it here if I can get it confirmed (probably wait until I get home, hate logging on at work but this was too big).  Sounds really wrong what might be about to happen (sorry for the tease).

Quickly though, if FTP comes back on and asks you to validate new T & Cs, READ THEM!  And I do mean read them properly.  Again only my opinion but if you do get in, cash out everything immediately and do not pay a penny of rake to them.

Still think they are a different case but I would only ever leave as much money on a poker site that I need to.  Poker sites are not banks (then again I don't exactly trust banks 100% either).

tommy when i say my full roll i mean all my poker money. All my "life money" is in my bank account and in my wallet. The roll i have on stars is still technically under-rolled for the games i play. Only because i keep moving up limits afer a couple of small cashes though, $160 i have there for playing anything from $1-$11 tournys. And $3.50-$15 STTs

Stars might be next Don.  If I were you I'd get any roll out...

Sorry if I sounded a little curt there Don, didn't mean to.  I personally think Stars is fine but I don't want to feel responsible for anyone taking this advice to mean they can leave thousands on there and suddenly boom.

ok the rumours are everywhere now so here we go.  Taken from the twitter feed of Marco Valerio @agentmarco, he's the guy growing a beard on quadjacks.com:

    AgentMarco Marco Valerio
Source: From inside FTP: site will "re-open" in "a few hours" and "operate without a license," remove Alderney logos, and change T&C.

    AgentMarco Marco Valerio
Source pt 2: Without a license, VISA, MC & other payment processors will back out. "NO banks will want to work with an unlicensed company."

Yes Maxy but FB reserve the right to use pictures of your FB roll in advertisements your friends might like.

im listening to QJ now a lot of crazy stuff happening FTP are supposedly planning to re open within a couple hours, without license, taking alderney logo of site, and re-evaluating their T&C, also without a license you will still not be able to take money off of there due to money bookers, mastercard, visa etc going to be ditching ftp pretty soon as they have no license so if anything i would just uninstall the client off of your computer and any money you have on there right now forget about and if you get it over time treat it as a freeroll (sorry to sound harsh but its the truth) ftp are going no where but............ down right now

Alderney provide the licence for FT. Poker stars are regulated from the Isle of Man - different regulating bodies. PS seem to have much greater financial substance than FT.

If the licence to FT has been suspended because of fears over finance or customer deposits then it should not effect PS. However, if it relates to the indictments for money laundering etc. then there could be a knock on effect on PS but it depends on what the detail is.

Tommy's advice regarding deposits and new T&C's on FT is good. Stand clear would be my advice.

No chance I've lost my $450 you can't even access the site, have been unable to cash out since black friday.

Well the service status on FTP has changed from down for scheduled maintenance to just down for maintenance.  Not news you may ask?  Well it's the nearest we'll get to a statement from FTP for quite a while I would imagine.

  • edited July 2011

Just received an email from a RB company saying this :-

We appreciate that many of you have funds trapped on FT and they are in talks with the AGCC to resolve the situation and enable real money play ASAP.
From what we understand of AGCC rules, player funds should be secure just temporarily inaccessible.
