just read your story , but cant find it anywhere now - Which section is it in?
Never seen so many crazy swings - Also what is meant by 37/33?
Nice river Don on the QQ vs QQ btw - Like Dohhhh said I knew it wasn,t a bluff as you hadn,t bluffed me once and as I knew your roll was low (through this thread) I just wanted to see what you had, although i wudda called anyway the way you were playing you should crush that limit - I,d maybe deposit a little more If you can afford it
On whats been an epic day, my emotional state has been all over the place. Mentally for a little with i was as good as use as a pancake. I didnt wake up till 5 yesterday afternoon, so having already decided i was taking a second pop at the SPT (loaded in a fiver again to do so, as to keep a personal goal seperate from poker) and i qualified for the main. I didnt want to play cash between as its a different mind set completely so i visited my dad. I think this allowed me to reflect just having general discussions and talking a couple of hands over with my dad.
I came home with an hour to spare, as to just make sure i was ready intime for the SPT and settled. I qualified. . Kind of a huge lift to my confidence after the battering and how poorly i played yesterday. However with this came a huge burst of hyper. I knew i wasnt in a mind set to play so i chilled out and watched some dvds.
I actually did settle down after that and decided to return to the tables, starting with a dym. This was just to make sure i was platying ok and not spewing. I played well and cashed. The only losing hand i had was v the shorty on the bubble QQ v KK AIP. Once i raised i couldnt fold.
So i went onto cash. And the results.
Wiinning hands.
Right just to point out my reasoning for hand 1, the guy with the stack was literally betting people off the pot, and on at least one occassion Oynutter called down with second pair. Therefore i felt my K was likley good, however with my kicker playing the board i felt calling down was best.

Biggest losing hand i had. And i felt i lost the min.
Total Balance: £26.40
Only a short session tonight. The emotions really got the better of me. As it was kind of a personal goal to get to the SPT i think i put a little more into it. However i usually always get this when i win a tournament. Its just the passion comming through. Although this is starting to show in cash when ever i take down a big pot. The K9 one above i literally lept off my seat. Joy that my reads where right, but even more joy that i won a decent pot, and its been that passion that kept me going back to tournaments over and over again. If i can really get it into my cash game then it will only make me a more determinated and better player. Really quite amazing tbh that im getting it at NL4 tho, i remember saying to DOHHHHH a few weeks back how much i hated the level and it tilted me. Yes it does get frustrating but to be honest, im learning more and more. Last nights 200BB stack off game me a major wake up call. I can beat this level and i will.
All this emotional rollercoaster stuff really has tired me out. So i think its best for bed now. Really enjoyed playing tonight tho, first time ive played with a smile in a long time.
Another day where ive not played nearly enough. Really didnt sleep well yesterday and when i did wake up i felt like a 10 ton weight was repeatedly hitting me on the head. As a result i didnt get started till late. I done the TKP V HitSquad HU matches v Monkey123 and that equatted to a £1.90 profit. Although i really didnt want to gain finances from this towards my roll. After that i went for a nap just to try and recover the headache. Waking up alot later than planned at 1AM. I still wasnt feeling great although i decided to give it a while take some pain killers and get grinding.
And thats what i did. So come 3AM i was in a dym, again same as last night just to make sure i was ok, I didnt play 100% good poker but i played more than well enough to be beating NL4, and a cash there was worth another quid. So onto NL4 for an hour before stopping cause the door went (seriosuly who shows up at 4AM to visit someone) and i ended up needing to go to the shop as i forgot to buy my midnight snack again. So when i got back i got another hour in. Kind of peeved because before i went i was running pretty smooth.
3 biggest winning hands.
First one i felt priced in pre with a decent drawing hand, flopped big and got paid.

Well on track to where i want to be and getting a little breathing room, admittedly not alot, for my roll now. 4 days ago i would have said i was out of my depth doing a challenege like this but really im starting to believe its possible, i still have 14 sessions in which to grind out the rest of the £100. I really havent played as much as i could have the last couple of days either, and with 2 days of live games comming up i guess it may be a little harder to get game time in, so ive decided just to go and come home early on Thursday and im missing the Wednessday game to really get some decent hours in. Im feeling im spotting mistakes quicker now, and correcting them in every session im in, i think thats partly down to the volume and partly the determination.
Nightmare night tonight, weather ive decided to stop for now, weather ill get to play due to the site matience i have no idea. Started really well as was a BI up. Took my break slightly earlier due to the matience and come back. Boom, boom boom stacked 3 times in 15 mins, twice flush over flush. Seriously whats a guy meant to do.
3 biggest winning hands.

seriously brutal night not going to say much here. played like a donkey, and even when i had the hands i couldnt win. AK v 9T (25BB opponent) all in pre sorta suggests what kind of night i had. He limps so i set him in and he snaps flops the nuts. :@.
If i get time before the site closes ill play again, as long as im cooled off as right now pretty peeved off to say the least. Hense the lack of comments in here.
Something I've just started doing that may help- check out your hand history (bear in mind it only shows the last 500, so do it within a 2 hour timeframe, say). Log the total number of hands played.
Then log the total number of hands in which you won or lost more than 8p. This should give you the total number of hands you've been involved in (this excluded all those hands you completed SB/checked BB, also excludes limped hands but we'll assume they were played optimally, speculated preflop, folded postflop with no dramas).
Divide the number of hands involved in by the number of hands played to get your % of hands played- that'll give you an idea of how many you're playing. I think anything above 20% is definitely too high, I don't know what the optimum number is but it's somewhere between 10-20% IMO.
Also, massive +1 to what Dohhh said. Suited cons+1 gappers are seriously overrated at this level- their main benefit lies in fold equity, and you have none. You're never flopping a straight/flush enough to make them worthwhile. If you're gonna play them, at least play the higher end ones that are capable of flopping TPGK (10J is absolute bare minimum). But try and get to the flop cheaply.
All pairs are worth playing cheaply, because sets happen far more than flopped flushes/straights, and you'll get paid handsomely if they flop top pair. Or, anything for that matter.
Remember too you're on a short bankroll, you aren't rolled enough to speculate too much. I think you should tighten up and just play AJ+, KQ and TT+ for a bit, until you're a little stronger. If you can get in with a pair for less than 3bbs, or multiway against deep stacks for 5bbs or less, then give it a crack.
for the amount of hands played above 8p what to do is srach for hands lost with a value more than 0.08 and hands won at more than 0.08
this will save u looking at all the folds that you dont want. also search for full hands though after as that gives you a number of total hands youve been involved in
decided to stop the cash for tonight. Not getting spots, not getting hands, and as a result not even breaking even. I have decided to play dyms tonight instead.
Winning hands.

3 hands with a total prodit/loss of over £1 explains my night.
Total Balance: £15.52
I have gone onto dyms so this isnt a closing balance for tonight. Im hoping that by being card dead i can fold my way to a few cashes. Felt i've been pretty pateient all night and the 2 overs + KHFD was probably the best spot i had all night, and in a dym im less likley to get stacked there.
went back to cash. couldnt get any more dyms going i reged over 3 different levels and waited 15 mins and im the only player in each.
results.
£3.30 bubble (66 v 77 of shorty BvB i set him in, he called and held. Left me with 1000. recovered to 1890 before big stack bully set me in on my BB i had AK he floped a house)
£2.25 Cash (103 v 84 somehow ended up all in with 8 high and 10 high on flop. 10 high held and bubble popped. did win both my all in situations here QQ v A8 and A2 v K9)
Result slightly down but with positives. i played well in both got a little unlucky in the £3.30 couldnt raise fold the 6's and walked into 7's later losing a flip.
Very frustrating night, at least tonight i can say bar one needless stack off (below) which i played like a complete idiot and nearly out of sheer frustration i played reasonably well. Unfortunetly the cards just wherent comming. I won back the needless half stack below, but literally raise folded my way doewn 3/4 of a BI. The best hands i was getting where marginals and i either missed the flop multi way after rasing pre, or someone behind 3bet.

Its clear completeing this challenege is now out of reach. Im back where i started, almost, 8 days into it. I really am quite frustrated with how cards have went tonight. When ive had a marginal ive been re-raise or missed, when ive had a decent hand ive not found a way to get paid. All in all, the only hands ive won above a quid have been people bluffing into me. and a loose call pre with AQ but happened to be the right one. Again i think thats some frustration showing through.
Despite the AK hand above, ive felt i played pretty well tonight. however my roll clearly isnt able to deal with a swing like this. Im considering taking a couple of days break from this. And i will contunie to work towards £10 from £100 and will keep recording my progress, but i think its best to take a couple of days chillax. I may play some dyms later but unlikley.
I agree with most of Dohhhh,s thread about this level but I think you can mix it up a bit and can pick up some uncontested pots and widen your range now and again even if its just to give off a looser image as when your sat on the same table with ppl for hours at a time they will suss your range.
I played with you on a few tables tonight for a few hours but I don,t think we got involved in a pot togethor once.
You did seem quite disciplined though as there were others who were disciplined for an hour or two, then lost a cpl of quid and they just lose the plot - This level is the best way to learn patience imo and also your getting more practise at multi-tabling which is always good
I had an horrific start and lost about 25 quid in less than half an hour, but eventually settled down and 8 hours later 4 tabling I manged to brk even - If you can carry on doing the same and stay sain it should stand you in good stead for the future - Just look at it as a learning experience
Ps - How many pts have you got? Do you have a target for that?

i usually target for 500 per month as i dont always play as much as i should, most ive ever had was 1200 and that was 8 hrs a day grinding NL4. Ive just passed 500 so cant complain.
Playing on other site at the mo, lost biggest pot BB wise ive ever had.
9 seater table.
UTG calls. folded to me in BB i check. (9d 4c)
Flop (2s 4s 9s)
I bet, UTG calls.
Turn (Ad)
I bet UTG calls
River (9c)
I bet UTG shoves.
I ponder, and i think A9 for UTG surley not. AA surley isnt played this way either.
Don, as Dohhh says, 2 days off is pointless. However, as i posted earlier in this thread and deuces has alluded to similar in his advice to dudeskin, you are going to struggle with this challenge whilst you persist in sitting down with 100bb. YOU CANNOT AFFORD IT M8.
If you have 1 or 2 bad sessions your roll is decimated and i agree that at higher levels you should be deepstacked , IMO the opposite can be true at lower limits, ESPECIALLY with such a small margin for error that a tenner gives you.
So i again advise you to try sitting down with 40bb and seeing how you go. I find that this strategy can work well whilst building yourBR as it puts you in a more relaxed frame of mind and allows you to play with less pressure.
Agree with Dohhh about the AQ hand early on, £3 in the middle Vil has £1.37 behind, insta shove you CAN NOT be losing that value it's crucial !
Also the last hand you posted AK, should really be raising more pre at least 30p as this is BIG hand so you need to get value if you hit your A/K flop. C betting is marginally ok, I know it's awfully nitty but I probably just check fold a lot of the time, your OOP so don't know how strong Vil is, but now you've stuck 11 BB's in to call off half a BI with 2 overs no draw is HORRIFIC. If you're making these sort of tilt calls any sort of progress will be impossible I can assure you.
On the break yes a few hours if the beats are bad but multiple days isn't the way, I know that sometimes you load up a table (baring in mid you have a small BR) and just think please just let me win a few hands settle in but sometimes you get that crazy hand in the first 10 mins that you get outdrawn on but if you played it correct you need to stay there and you WILL win it back given time.
Overall though I'd say patience is MASSIVE and only play VERY GOOD hands but play them STRONGLY. If you haven't already, read Dohh' thread.
OFC you can beat the level but you did use alot of your initial bankroll to play satelites so it doesn't really help, you said you can reload can you not anymore?
The main reason you failed is not because you cant beat the level but because of your starting level imo, starting low really does mean you need a serious amount of run good. to start at nl4 cash ihave always said you need at least £80 to deposit. Keep playing on 888 until you have that starting bankroll and then be stricter with yourself and if your going to play tournements or Satelites maybe add to your bankroll so its unaffected
dont be down dude just maybe you didnt run well enough because of your role, by now you know what the right decisions are etc talk to JJ if your having difficulty with your game

its nt my game its the way i run. you all call me a card rack. Seriously who tilt shoves 101BB into AA, KK and JJ behind with 4 people to act. . Last night i played 11.30-4.30ish with just a 10 minute break. I have 6 hands above £1 pots. I got stacked in two of them. Sorry but does that not tell you something.
I was 2 tabling so thats 10 hours of poker (5 per table) and i can remember 6 hands i played. Seriously i cant deal with downswings, and if i cant deal with a downswing then i cant play poker. SIMPLES.
Comments
just read your story , but cant find it anywhere now - Which section is it in?
Never seen so many crazy swings - Also what is meant by 37/33?
Nice river Don on the QQ vs QQ btw - Like Dohhhh said I knew it wasn,t a bluff as you hadn,t bluffed me once and as I knew your roll was low (through this thread) I just wanted to see what you had, although i wudda called anyway
the way you were playing you should crush that limit - I,d maybe deposit a little more If you can afford it
I came home with an hour to spare, as to just make sure i was ready intime for the SPT and settled. I qualified.

3 biggest losing hands.
1st one, river shove looks suspisious but guess i have to pay off here.

3 biggest winning hands.
Could have done better here but literally this guy done this every hand
seriously brutal night not going to say much here. played like a donkey, and even when i had the hands i couldnt win.
Chilled out returned to tables. Started to recover. Then Boom this happens.
Closing Balance: £20.46
Really disappointing night. Really dont know if i played bad, if i run bad. possibly both. Certainly tilt set in. Frustration killed me. I dunno. FML.

I have gone onto dyms so this isnt a closing balance for tonight. Im hoping that by being card dead i can fold my way to a few cashes. Felt i've been pretty pateient all night and the 2 overs + KHFD was probably the best spot i had all night, and in a dym im less likley to get stacked there.
Current balance: £13.92
Winning hands not featured above.
Ok just the one and i will state i was pretty naffed off by this point and seriously in need of cards. id gone 2 hours without hitting a flop and Ace high suddenly seemed like the nuts.
Closing balance: £10.66
Playing on other site at the mo, lost biggest pot BB wise ive ever had.
9 seater table.
UTG calls.
folded to me in BB i check. (9d 4c)
Flop (2s 4s 9s)
I bet, UTG calls.
Turn (Ad)
I bet UTG calls
River (9c)
I bet UTG shoves.
I ponder, and i think A9 for UTG surley not. AA surley isnt played this way either.
I call
UTG shows, (Ac 9h)
600BB pot, serious FML.
GL
I was 2 tabling so thats 10 hours of poker (5 per table) and i can remember 6 hands i played. Seriously i cant deal with downswings, and if i cant deal with a downswing then i cant play poker. SIMPLES.
