    VARIANCE - LOL

Reviewing hand history tonight, I spotted a trend in playing premium pairs.
Going by experience on Sky, I only raise big or shove with premium pairs,
but it still doesn't get the job done as any rag A or K seems to bink vs them.

#561881028   KK called by rag A, oppo hits FH :(
#561907975   QQ caled by rag K, oppo hits K :(
#561926217   QQ called by rag A, oppo hits A :(
#561945705   KK called by rag A, oppo hits flush :(
#561958644   KK called by rag A, oppo hits A :(

Conclusion - PREMIUM HANDS ARE RUBBISH. lol

ps: I did hit a K once tonight with KK so maybe variance just fell asleep for a bit.

Some nice cashes over the weekend - well done all.

Not a lot I can say about SPT Notts tbh - It was a complete washout for me. Firstly, my car broke down (Burnt Out Clutch) but my bro (Rawhand) came to the recue and managed to get me there on saturday, but later than I had antisipated.

We were looking forward to playing in the 8pm Side Event, and stayed at DTD most of the day. 6pm we decided to go out and grab some lunch and then head back to DTD to reg for the sidey. I asked quite a few players if they had regged yet and most hadn't.

Thinking we still had plenty of time I decided to reg later. This was not a good idea, as we were told the side event had been capped at 50 players. After quite a bit of moaning, they somehow managed to get me in, however, I wasn't comfortable with this as there were more than a dozen people in the que before me who couldn't get a seat.

I couldn't get a seat for my bro either, which meant he would have to stand around whilst I played. FlashJonny couldn't get in either, so I decided to donate my seat to him as he was there all weekend.

I went home pretty disgruntled, as it was just one thing after another that went wrong. MrB wasn't happy either and quite understandably after a player at his table turned his cards over. Personally I would have called the tournament director and asked for a ruling or stiffer punishement.

I have been to the DTD final twice now and I really don't like the local memebrs tbh, but I am happy to go back if only to kick there backsides on the tables and show them sky players are much better than they think we are.

Another thing I noticed this year was what I can only describe as "Bunny Boilers" yes girls dressed in scantilly clad clothing fetching and carrying drinks for the punters. It looked very tacky in my opinion and something which would have been more at home in Vegas or the playboy mansion. I'm all for having a smart uniform but for me, the jury is still out on this one and it may have been a little over the top imo.

    My Summary
I like the venue, but, I don't like some of the local members as they seem to look down us and for the most part don't have a good word to say about sky poker players. It wasn't as well organised this year and the bunny boilers looked a bit tacky imo.
I do plan on going back in October for the next leg of the SPT (6 Max) Why? Because I think Sky Poker Players have an edge and a point to prove.

I totaly agree with you Trev about the girls my view is if I wanted to see half naked girls I would have gone to a lap dancing club but as I am the type of person that does not enjoy that I dont so when I go to play poker esp in a 330 buy in I dont want to see that as it brings the whole tone down.

I was also amazed at how badly the place is run or should I say it is run by the rude locals. I sat down to eat and suddenly behind us a local and the manager were having a argument his language was behond belife and attitude she said she had enough of him acting like this to her and her staff called secruity over and all they did was laugh and joke with the guy wow I thought even the managment have no power to stop these players. I have never been in a job or run a company where that could ever happen simple rule if it gets bad enough to call security thats it they have been called to do their job and take the player out the club.

The locals were horriable imo all they wanted to do was look down their nose at us lot and they made it clear they thought we were idiots again wasnt this meant to be a SPT???

I did bring this up with a very well know presenter on sky and was told it costs a lot of money to put this even on we need to market ourselves so there should be direct buy in on the day. I did tell him I thought he was being nieve if he thought any of these players would play on our site and how upset i was that my card had also been turned over by a player not in the pot and the floor manager seemed to know him and did nothing. This well known sky person just walked away so wasnt impressed there either.

Unlike Trev I will NOT be going back in October mainly as I will not drive all that way for such a poorly run oppertaion. I also had major concerns that the dealers on all my tables including the eve before side event were so friendly with the locals that they all moaned about DTD in front of us so unpoffesional.

I didnt rate the venue either as it has been presented as the best card club in Europe (even though there were roulette tables there so dosent that just make it a casino focussing on cards?) it was ok but nothing special, also was suprised you had to pay for soft drinks at the table never ecperianced that before. It is the first casino (see my comments above as I will class it as that) where you have to pay for soft drinks at the table 2.20 for a coke and over 3 for a cup of tea steep imo.

Of course meeting everyone was brilliant and just a shame things happened there as they did and was also shocked to hear the side event capped on the sat night due to lack of dealers!! That makes 0 business sence.

Yes Trev I should have called the torny director over but I was nieve enough to think in Euorpes best know card room what happened would have been abs min a penalty for the player and if a Sky player had done it prob would have been thrown out the torny so when nothing happened I just thought if I carry this on it gets bigger and bigger and the end result would have been me going on tilt. Now the sick thing was I had to leave the table to get air to stop myself tilting so if you look at it I got done twice as I lost hands because of it not the player. So I learnt a lesson there that if anything like that happens again not to expect it to be sorted out but that is me being nieve and not playing live enough.

Such a shame and I realy wanted to come back saying what an amazing place it was and trying to get as many of TPTrs to come to the one in October :(

I am sorry to have to post this on behalf of Gedders but he has had to leave our team due to getting a life time ban on Sky so he cannot make any postings or send any messages.

He has tried to speak to Sky again today but they refuse to review his case. I am not going into details as that is between SKy and him but from Gedders side just so you know, he wasnt multi accounting or collusion etc but was a dispute with CS.

He wants to let you all know he realy enjoyed the team and DTD and thats why he tried so hard over the last 2 days to smooth things over with Sky but he also has said he wont try now as why should he there are enough sites out there.

I wish him all the luck and have enjoyed my time at the tables with him and hope he runs well on other sites

    From a sad mrb :(

Trevor a quote from you and somewhat corroborated by others "I like the venue, but, I don't like some of the local members as they seem to look down us and for the most part don't have a good word to say about sky poker players". For the last 2 years at least (and maybe longer but I wasn't on Sky then) other poker players have always slated Sky poker players and the site. Yet they are happy to play the SPT and take Sky's money. How 2 faced can you get? This isn't aimed at all guests who play the SPT . The likes of Paul Jackson, Jen Mason and some of the celebrity guests appreciate  the SPt for what it is. Not the biggest tour by any means but certainly the friendliest. It is when local players are entering the SPT that the criticism starts. Would you go into a restaurant and say "the foods rubbish but I will still eat here anyway" I assume the rules say that they have to let locals play too.

Hearing that the first leg of the new tour is again at DTD has made my mind up for me and I will not be trying to qualify. For me it has to be the whole experience and I already know that it will never match the experience I had at Blackpool. Which is a great disappointment to me as I had heard so many great things about DTD, and really wanted to play there sometime. Sadly the reality seems a bit farther from the truth.

P.S. At 3 quid a pop for soft drinks I'd expect a scantily clad girl to deliver my drinks.

Sorry trev that you didn't care too much for certain things in DTD.Scantily clad women, wow,it's 2012 ffs.As with the locals looking down on sky players.I think these people have to realise, regardless how much they earn from poker, that poker is just a card game after all.Let's face it they are not doctors or nurses who are in a profession who care for people.Too many prima donnas in poker in my opinion.WD on your cashes guys.Gl in the dtd tonught guys.

No - But in poker anything that gets up your opponents nose imo gives u an edge. I also think given time we may be able to re-educate them as to how good online poker players actually are nowadays and in someways are a more complete package than live only players as we have learnt to play the game without being able to get a read on players face to face.

If they don't like me, my game or the fact that i'm a sky poker player then thats a good enough incentive for me to go and kick there behinds on the felt :)

JJ so the fact that it's 2012 is justification for having scantily clad women? In the days of political correctness, which admittedly has gone too far, and especially equal rights there is more reason NOT to have sexily dressed women. And I bet there weren't any scantilly drssed male waiters for the female players. Like MrB said it does nothing for the image of poker and doesn't belong there.
