a little insight into HUSNG grinding at low stakes:
had a spare day today and since i've been beating the games for a decent amount this month thought i'd put in some volume.
one of the first games featured interesting table talk:
a chap shoved over my min raise with A5 when i held AT. all very standard and he binked his 5 so back to level. no worries innit.
i min raise with K6o, get flatted 77Q flop. he min bets, which is a full of sh't bet 80% of the time. Ace turn, and he's been 3bet jamming his Ax pre so thats a blank, call his min bet again. River is a king and obv i call another min bet. he shows J6o seems like solid reads got me there. but no.
"fkn typical sky river"
"you call with f all then hit on the river"
i pointed out to him i was calling with the best hand all the way
"yeah but you didnt know that"
genius.
A few hands later he shoves 33 for 10bb i call with K8s and bink my king. standard again. so you'd think. the villain started whining and mewing about the RNG and my call.
then he calls a shove with AT v 66, binks a ten, but falls to the river 6.
rage again about river. the fact he had spiked to go ahead anyway was lost on him
his laptop was in mortal danger, i wonder if it survived.

unfotunately that was the highlight of my morning. and the poker gods giveth and then taketh away. went on a horror run. HUSNGs essentially come down to all in luck. that's not to say the edges arent significant, but the games can and do come down to a series of 60/40 55/45 flips. and you can be beasted by variance in the short term. i took a big hit in £3.15 hypers
i dropped to my saftey net games of 2.10 turbos where i have a bigger win % but could not halt a £25 downturn. that's monsterous at the £2/3 level.
my philosophy is to grind through these downturns. the advantage of SNG's to MTT's is you can increase volume to swamp that variance. i broke some mental-game time limits i usually abide by and played 5hrs solid, ending £11 up for the day. did game select a juicey £5.25 hyper at the end, which helped, but happy with my general play and delighted to post a decent profit after that morning / early evening.
yip am in the same boat as the rest of you, cant hit cant hold cant win when ahead, cant hit the open ended and the flush draws when all are hitting v me
had a good night tonight for a change the 2 day break obviously done me some good played mega stack and after losing most of my stack early on i went down to 3k and thought here we go again, I managed to claw it back and finish 3rd was sat next to binrobbed through most of it who finished in 2nd and played outstanding thanks for the fantastic rail jj and haylez

Just wanted to give you guys a little heads up..especially for any Midlands based TPTers.
Thursday evening I went to Star City Casino Birmingham, I had an ok night of poker, eventually going out before the final table, but an awesome night of blackjack and roulette. Walked out of the Casino at 5am with £1900 in my sky rocket.
That lasted for 10 minutes, when I was mugged as i got to my car! More than the loss of the winnings plus my own money in my wallet I am actually sickened by the fact that it means I am now unable to play in a £100 deepstack Charity Poker Tournament me and some friends had organised for tomorrow afternoon at Grovesnor Birmingham.
I have put some staking offers out on t'internet basically offering 75% of earnings for the £100 stake, keeping 10% only for myself and donating 15% to the charity. as it is a great cause and my wanting to play is more about raising money for cancer than taking profit for myself...I am still awaiting offers.
So my post has 2 angles..1>be very wary about going to Casinos alone, as you never know who is watching you win!
and 2> If you guys can help this great cause in anyway, by either attending at 2pm tomorrow, or by helping with my staking requests then Please do not hesitiate!

Thanks Chris, luckily I wasnt hurt which is the main thing but it just sucks that someone would do that!
Way I see it is 5 people could stake £20 and then i'm playing and they are hopefully splitting 75% of whatever I cash lol. Fingers crossed some people out there in the land of the world wide web will be able..although I know times are hard for many right now!

i feel bad that i cant even stake £20 mate, i just dont have the money too spare,
it is sad there is people out there who do these things its the world we live in, on the plus side u werent hurt and thats the main thing. we get the same in glasgow quite alot its not a nice thing.
In Response to Re: Official - TPT (Team Poker Titans) Tribulations & Cashes : And SKY deleted it as they don't allow staking requests, even for charitable causes! Team Sky ftw...... Posted by k8cyke
didnt know that mate or i wouldntve said, dont see why not.
had a few great nights followed by a terrible one last night, i certainly must of upset the poker gods last night.
in the spaces of 4 hands in different comps so pretty much at the same time.
jj on a 258 board some goes all in megastack i hold jj so i call for him to hit his acve, he was holding ace 5.
kk vs k8 all in pre lost to quad 8s? really
ak vs a6 pretty standard i guess hit his 6
aq vs 10 q - hit his ten
it tilted me really badly like never before, if i offended anyone, i am sorry.
but went on to smash a timed comp 5.50 buy starting stack 1k ended up winning it 28.7k at the end for 158.60 so wasnt too bad although i was tilted and got very lucky
In Response to Re: Official - TPT (Team Poker Titans) Tribulations & Cashes : wise words i can FT BHs with no heads - but win some at that stage and they are worth a lot. couple of things to be aware of: you will get called lighter so tighten up a little on your own shoving range if there are people left to act behind if you want to take a head you need to raise to isolate, otherwise someone else might come over the top (unless you've got the nuts of course) and just to prove a point i've just FT-ed the Headhunter mtt (no prize pool - just bounties), and finished 6/64 with only 1 head which leaves me at a £2 loss! meanwhile the guy who just went out in 3rd had none. guess he picked the wrong tournament to go deep in. Posted by GELDY
Ty geldy good advice and I think I will benefit from it. The BIB may have been my problem as I have tended to play them like I play a deepie so a couple of little changes may prove to be the answer. K8cyke thats a real horror story and got me thinking. I assume this was in the casino carpark and know there would be cameras everywhere but it's so easy for someone to follow you out of the casino. Could the security staff not provide an escort for big winners? Seems totally logical to me (unless it was the casino that mugged you)
Hayles wd on your late night win your exit from the Mega was faster than a speeding bullet. I knew you were unhappy as I think you left without a word but no offence mate so don't worry. Sometimes I'll close a table immediately as it stops me saying anything I might later regret.
Binrobbed I hope I can persuade you to visit the thread to post any cashes. As I only started the new total last week and with the players we currently have I think we are on for a bumper yearespecially if the shy ones posted their cashes.
Well done everyone else who cashed and good luck tonight.*
That's a terrible thing to happen k8cyke.As long as they only took the money and didn't harm you.Ul haylez on your night. But a great comeback in 5.50p tourney.Gl at the tables guys.
