**** SEPTEMBER PROFIT CHALLENGE THREAD ****

edited October 2011 in Poker Chat
Ive just seen a thread by Sikas titled september challenge and it made me remember a thread that was put up on my previous sites forum every month entitled Profit Challenge.

I dont know if its been done on here before and i might be going over old ground but here goes anyway :)

At the start of each month anyone who was interested ( cash players or tourney players ) would join the thread and at the end of each day they would give a brief summery of that days play and any key hands they were involved in or any profit/loss they had and keep a running total each day. Ive seen a number of posts on here from the likes of Don90, mp33, lambert180 etc showing certains plays and how they had done on certain days and imo threads like this one can only be good for the people who join them because it gives that extra bit of a push and helps you keep focused knowing that at the end of each day your going to be posting your progress.

It would be good for a few of the higher stakes players to join the thread aswell to have a insite into all areas of the game and from all different points of view ( so come on Tommyd, Scotty77 etc ).

If anyone shows interest in this i too would post on occasions but not everyday as i only really play for recreation now and wouldnt have any p/l to post lol :)

This thread was a real winner on my previous site for all involved and also made very good reading for others who were not. Anyways best of luck to anyone who joins "if any lol"

Anyways, I'm in for the lolz. Had a good month in August (assuming I don't tilt it away in the final hours of the month after hearing 'Arry has signed Titus Bramble) so am due a shocker.  Should be fun for everyone to laugh and point ;)

Less of the OLD please tommy :)

And yes. Thats where i first learned to play. My ex was a reg on there from the start of the site and instead of becoming a poker widow i decided to learn :)

If you remember i asked you first time we spoke if you used to play on BF because your name was familiar.

Am I reading that right, you've made 1,000 PP's between midnight and 6am??????

Yeah I'm deffo up for this. Was going to make my own individual thread for September profit but you've beat me to it so I'll just jump on the band wagon.

    BR 1st September: £226.83
    Profit: £0

Well I'm out tonight so I'll take last nights results as tonight :-)

    Bankroll : * Secret*
    Profit :  £203
  • edited September 2011
It was 2am when The 4K Doublestack ended last night, so am a nice £576 in profit from that. Add in a whopping £4.50 from a turboDYM at work, and we're rolling.

    Bankroll : wtf is that?
    Profit : £580

To expand on the open. Reached FT equal chip-leader and instantly lost a race (on the river, obv) to fall back into the pack. The 6 of us tried out best to finish 6th (low stack went in behind 10-15 times easily, but went on to bink to stay alive). I managed to win with 99 v JJ (9 on flop) and chopped A9 v AQ (AQ flopped str8, Q on turn). Eventually Gerrard9 went all in (with more chips) with AJ v AK and turned the ROYAL FLUSH - it was clearly going to take a monster to knock someone out - and we were then fighting for 5th. When we got to 3, I was a marginal chip-daddy and went with JJ - called by AQ (A on river) left me with 3K chips (blinds 10K / 20K) thank you, and goodnight.

Are you really good at poker, or really enthusiastic?

    Or both?

    How about a profit/loss update.

It takes me 10 days on average to make what you made in 6 hours. (points that is,lol)

I have no idea how you do it.

In all honesty mate i think i made so many points this morning because almost every table had massive fish on them and i was getting involved in alot more hands than i normally would do ( and missing or being outdrawn almost all of the time :(  )  prob tilting a bit aswell so im guessing that is the reason for so many points because normally would expect about half that total in the time.

I lost exactly £470 before going to sleep and have just been on for about 10mins and won £30 but tables full of regs so gonna come back on a bit later on.

running total on day is -£440 at mo but will post days final total tonight.

Dont know if its just me but i think the standard of players is much worse in the early hours.

Wow, your roll must be pretty big, and u must b very confident to be able to take a session like that, and come back within a few hours. I'd be sulking for a week.

I think being able to lose money (for whatever reason) and not give a s*** about it is a great quality.

Either that, or you're filthy rich. lol

I agree with you about the early hours! definitely alot easier. I don't lose as much.
  • edited September 2011
First session of the month, always seem to lose early doors, God's way of testing you I guess lol.

Had some proper good coolers though, house beat by quads, QQ v AA pre against a player who called first minraise then min4bet over my 3bet, tbh I knew he had AA but had to see em lolz. Those were only two losing pots over £2 so not bad over 310 hands.

    Start BR = £344.76

    Profit = -£3.53

    End BR = £341.23

I was suprised when you said it takes you 10 days to make 1000 points mate because i thought you played 100nl ?

Have def seen you multitabling it in past although not as reg as alot of them unless you were just taking a shot etc.

As for me being confident i would say yes i am mate, obvi dont like losing 4-5 buyins in a session but i always feel like its only loaned money and it always seems to come back

My best results always come when i follow bad players though and play only 1-2 tables but because im going to be using the site alot more in future ive started multitabling alot to build up notes etc which will help with future profits. on that subjuct though sky really do need to do something about the way they let you type notes on players because 1= theres not enough space and 2= "which is biggest pain in @ss" if player leaves it dosnt store notes or puts them onto the guy who takes his seat.

Best of luck mate and will hopefully be back later with better news :)

made a decent start :) took a break for a month from sky to improve y mtt game but mostly my cash game. Played a few cash tables, higher stakes.

Starting BR. Never you mind :)
    Profit/Loss +271.43

Played another small session that went pretty well :)

    Total profit/loss + 574.33

Third session disaster. 300 down on cash then busted out the ME though i have to pop out so was playing like a moron. Cash hands were very very ul. kk beat by 57 after he rivers 2 pair. 10 10 beat by 9 7 after another rivered 2 pair. then my jj beat by k4 rivering the flush. they were my 3 main losses. May try some more later but for now im done for the day and happy with some profit.

    Total profit/loss + 260.33

Plus I think it's all relevant really. It only means anything in relation to your bankroll and the levels you play at.

My profit/loss obviously isn't gonna be that big because I'm playing 10NL but I'm aiming to double my BR from £250 to £500 within the month so while £250 is a fairly small profit, it's still pretty decent to double your BR.

Will also be doing Irishrovers challenge this month so lots of profit can be made i think.
