    we did itttt, yayyyyy.

Going into the final week of my 5 week weight loss challenge I needed to lose 3.5 lbs or more to get to my goal of being 15 stone.

It's honestly been the most gruelling week, harder than I imagined when I designed the training schedule.

The first few days were hard but ok, then on Tuesday I really pushed myself harder than ever before. Everything on the schedule, and more.

I could barely get out of bed Wednesday morning, yet I had 3 full exercise sessions to complete.

Tired, hungry, every single part of my body was aching. I was in a very dark place, and the daily weigh ins were offering me little to no encouragement.

I was very tempted to give up!!

Anyway it was all worth it today when I got on the scales and saw I was 15 stone exactly, down from 15st 10.5lbs on new yrs day.

Scrambled to get my phone asap for a picture before it trolled me and went up to 15st 1/4 lbs as it loves to do.

My scales have a sick sense of humour.

Im looking and feeling alot better about myself than I did during December.

Naturally, with the "super strict" diet I've not had a drink so far this year.

That will change this afternoon, few beers and a game of cards for the first time this year too. (well the first optional game, I was forced to play a silly tourny).

Then out tonight for a game of arrows.

Going to prepare a big healthy spag boo for when I get in to stop myself ordering £20 worth of Chinese food on the way home again.

Hopefully I can learn from my mistakes last time when I started " treating" myself a little too reguarly and I ended up fat miserable and depressed again.

It's amazing what a spoonful of Nutella can do to a pan of porridge though, best breakfast ever <3

Amazing work on the diet, I know how hard it is, I have the same weight problem & dieting problems as you do. Not easy, but very satisfying when it works. Congrats.

Don't think you were "forced to play a silly tourney", you chose to enter a Free to Enter Fun  Comp.

    Really impressed JJ.

Awesome results.  First bold is important BUT second bold is MORE important.

P.S. Nutella in porridge?  Hasn't it been banned?  Porridge I mean ;-)

    Thanks y'alllll.

Bit of a mess yesterday, plenty to drink and I jumped out the taxi on the way home at the kebab house and ordered the biggest pizza they'd sell me.

Blew a 10 - 7 - 4 lead in the darts too, in a winner stays on format my brother won the last 3 legs to tie 10-10, with the old man lagging behind on 4 legs.

We're all pretty even (equally as bad as eachother), although if anyone has an edge I'd probably say it's Dad, so a very poor night for him being so far behind.

    I wired double 16 for a 152 finish too :(

Played a little bit of poker yesterday afternoon, 3rd in a £11 BH, 10th in a $2r on 888pokerz which had $300 for first (99 < 78s aipf did for me).

    Then lost £90 @ cash.

So I was about £30 down.

Drunkenly punted £60 on sheff wed to beat wigan, which paid out a profit of £96.

So alls well that ends well.

Regular poker will be returning to the schedule next week, as my gym pass runs out on Tuesday, and I'll be back on the regular exercise routine of just running and swimming.

Just trying to maintain my weight, rather than striving to lose any more.

Time to start looking for Februarys half marathon too.

6 mile+ run tomorrow first to work a few slices of that pizza off.

    Happy weekending all xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I must admit after all the recent giddymess im looking forward to the daily report of the football results today. 180 minutes against bottom and 2nd bottom and your boys couldn't score a goal between them. "oh dear"
    Posted by DOHHHHHHH

I guess there's only one worse thing than my boys struggling to score against 2nd bottom.... your boys struggling to score against 2nd bottom AND conceding 2 goals

    "oh dear"

Doncaster let me down today in a 8 fold for just short of 300 notes. I run so bad! Hope they can still win the League though as I have got them in my end of season bets.

BTW...going to a kebab house and coming out with a pizza is a fail in my book ;)

    Ayahhhh the giddyness is back.

can only imagine how excited you were at 4.30pm yesterday with lukaku on fire and hull winning.

    Giddy-o-metre going bonkers.

Klopp will get em going again, just a matter of how much damage is done in the meantime. YNWA.

    ----

Do I need to apologise for Donny Alan?

I was talking to my brother about he game on Friday as he still goes down to watch.

"we should score a hatfull tomorrow Morecombe are in a right mess"

Your bet was doomed from that moment on.

    :-/

    ---

I've woke up in a fantastic mood today.

Think its due to the realisation that I can eat like a normal person again and also exercise at my own leisure rather than busting my balls all day.

"I never ever imagined id use the words easy and 6 miles in the same sentence" :)

    Ola y'allll.

Having a game of cards this afternoon and then out to eratically propell some arrows at seemingly miniscule targets tonight.

Hyped for a galon or so for the old mans Birthday after what's been a grim weekend laid up in bed for 52 hours with toothache.

    Saw the doctor yesterday.

After 2 years of constanct visits, routine appointments, blood tests, medication reviews, councilling, varying strengths of depression pills, she's finally referred me to the hospital to see a fatigue specialist.

I almost smiled and laughed at her when she said that.

As if to say, ha yea wouldn't it be great if that was an option.

Then I realised she wasn't joking and it actually is a real option.

Errrr, why the f didnt you refer me to a fatigue specialist 2 years ago?

When you, and no less than 5 other healthcare professionals couldn't find anything wrong with me?

    what!

    Anyway, if I don't laugh I'll cry.

    So "lol"

    ----

    Weight management is going well.

No longer in "bust my balls to lose as much as I can" mode.

Sitting contently in "just do enough to not get any fatter" mode.

    Cruising.

Ticking over between 15st and 15.3st in the daily weight ins.

Fitness all good, did 2 miles in just over 15 minutes last week.

    Which for me is RAPID.

Slow for most, but in my first venture out in to the world of Fitness on new years day 2015 it took me 50 minutes to walk a mile n half.

    ----

Anyway cards this afternoon and a few Cooors Light <3

If you're any good, go the gym or something.

If you're useless at poker id love to see you at the tables in a few hours.

You only have to run 1.5 miles in 10:30 to be considered fit enough for the Army so 2 miles in 15 minutes isn't bad at all. Amazing how far you have come.

Hi Rob, as this probably wont get approved until a fortnight next Tuesday, Im going to take a guess and say it's the year to date ROI leaderboard that I saw on 'the book' earlier?

If so that will be heavily squewed by the one result I had in the big BH which I got in for free.

Having said that, I am taking on the unthinkable challenge of playing MTTs properly, mainly here on skypoker but bits and bobs elsewhere, tonight (just started) will be the 4th night in the last 6 that I've played a full low stakes schedule here, so I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing myself on a few more of your leaderboards soon!

I've been using them daily to 'skope' out some of the lesser known (to me at least) dangermen and women in the lower stakes mtt waters.

It's been an underwhelming start for me so far. Lets hope I can register a final table or two tonight, maybe even a win ????

I have no contractual obligations, it is subject to change.

On a serious note I'd love to have a go at one of these PLO bounty hunters, they seem alot of fun, but they all appear to be

    I couldnt do it :(

Stopped registering at 7 for an hours break after playing a £5 bh out where i has 20xbb @100/200.

Almost 3 hours of 1 tabling later i bust 9th.

Probably the most boring 3 hours of my poker life, god its dull. Haha.

Maybe time to find a more exciting passtime.

    Like birdwatching.

    The feathery type.

I couldnt face the mega stack (or any other poker) after that.

    Maybe next week.

    Tired smiley.

Lost count how many times back in the day I'd have 1 table left in a session with 20bb and you'd say 'get re-regging' and I'd say nahhh I might bust in 5 mins then be annoyed I'm in a bunch of comps at level 1 and not wanting to be, and inevitably I'd end up 1tabling for hours.

Not a dig, just funny how the tables have turned. Get re-regginggg, especially at 7pm, jesus :D At least I used to wait till like midnight before I tried to get out of re-regging.

Don't blame you for giving the megastack a miss, looks like a horror comp even for me, and I have a much higher tolerance than you for overly deep comps.

glgl with the MTTs, never in doubt that you will do well.

Still 30 mins to go like atm but would love to see Chelsea draw here and drop more points. If they do it'll mean there's much more of a legit shot at a fight for the title... although City winning would mean you owe Don a tenner, right?

I'm about to start negotiations with Aussie to add 250-400 gtd stuff to poker superhero.

Sky poker will have a new best player :D

    ---

Morning all. It's been ages hasnt it.

March, as usual with me nowardays, had a few ups and downs, but overall it was a good month.

    Cliffs

    - Had first appointment with a fatigue specialist at the hospital, over 2 years after initially taking the problem to my GP.

No good, but I am one appointment (9th April) away from a referral to a specialist fatigue clinic, which is exciting.

    - I've entered my 3rd official Half Marathon, the North Lincolnshire half marathon in early May.

29 quid to run around roads I can run any other time for nowt.

    - Running/Fitness is okay, at least volume wise. I walked 70 miles in 7 days mid month. But then I got man flu 2 days after which kept me off the running grind for a good week.

When I returned I was struggling to run 3, then 5, then 6 miles, and latterly last wednesday I set out to run 8 miles but had to stop after 7 because I was out on my feet.

So alot of work to do to get back into half marathon shape in the next 4 and a half weeks.

    - Weight is holding steady at 15st 2. Still down around 8 or 9 lbs on the year and almost 5 stone since 1/1/2016'.

    - It was a fully dry month, until Friday when I went out for a game of darts, and I hit my first ever 180! Which was very exciting.

Although I lost the leg coz I missed 372 darts at double.

    - I played for the first time all month on Friday afternoon and won 3 out of 10 mtts! Whilst final tabling 2 others, 2nd and 4th. for a £350 day! That was exciting too.

It's made me want to play again today too, which isn't so exciting. We'll see ......

    - I gave blood for the 2nd time. Which isn't so exciting on it's own but it did mean I got to eat a chocolate biscuit for the first time all year.

    As they forced me to.

    No really they did.

    I went with a penguin.

Tough choice when faced with penguins, clubs and bourbons and you've not eaten any of em in ages.

Bourbons were too high in calories or they'd have won easy.

    Obsessed.

    - I dont think anything else happened. I slept loads. Didn't really go anywhere or do anything I dont think.

    Nope.

    Boring life is boring.

    I'm okay with it though,

Looking forward to a nice summer this year, it'll be the first one in ages where i've been in decent shape mentally and physically at the same time.

Lots of training, lots of runs, maybe abit of travelling home and abroad. Im thinking of finding a cricket team who are desperate enough to have me, having not played in 10 years.

I took the dogs to a big enclosure a few weeks back to have a run around off the lead.

Whilst I was there I did a mini training session of my own, running around with them and then setting up some sprints for an interval session.

At the end to warm down I marked out 22 yards, and decided to steal one of their tennis balls and turn my arm over, like I say for the first time in 10 years.

The enclosure was really big, about the same size of a cricket pitch with 6 foot fences all the way around.

So I marked out a little bit of a run up and waddled in to bowl a few balls.

Just off a few paces at first.

Went okay. Very very stiff and it felt really un-natural but they were landing somewhere near where I wanted them to.

Then I decided for old times sake to mark out my full run and charge in and channel my inner Shoaib Akhtar.

Good 16 and half stride run up, big jump at the crease, releasing from 6 and a half foot, trying to bang it in back of a length.

And the tennis ball sailed over the 6 foot fence, out of the enclosure and I ended up stood with my hands on my hips looking round to make sure nobody saw it, embarassed that i'd lost the dogs ball.

Then woke up the next day stiff as a board.

As I say, I'm looking for a team.

    Any takers? :D

    hi jj

    here's something for you.  Q1 2017.

there isn't a webpage for this particular bit of analysis so i took this snapshot.

well done.  you are the 5th best at reaching the final quarter of major tournaments in 2017.

i saw your note about giving blood.  reminds me to go back.  i gave blood for the first time last year and went with the idea that i would do it every week.  i didn't know it is a quarterly thing.  time to return.

    G'morning all.

1 month and 2 days since my last post !

So, I've kind of stopped playing poker altogether.

Not a conscious decision at all, it's just not happened.

I guess as I've been rebuilding my life, making new friends and even re-making some old ones, getting new hobbies and  sleeping 12+ hours a day I've had less and less time to do things, and as a result poker has began to miss out.

I've been looking in on the forum occasionally to see whats going on, but only 6 or 7 times this last month.

Makes a change from the old days when I was refreshing and posting on the forum 6 or 7 times an hour.

It doesn't seem the best place to be posting and reading at the moment.

Alot of tedious threads/posts that I would once get involved in or even start myself that are just boring and repetative and pretty sad.

But that's no excuse for my lack of updates here.

I appreciate all the help forumers have given me on here over the last couple of years, readers have definitely played a huge part in helping me achieve some recent goals.

So apologies for neglecting the thread, I haven't gone all big time or anything and I do remember all the help you guys have given me in so many different ways, so I'm going to make a real effort to get back in to posting more and letting you know whats going on. (tbh it isn't alot haha).

    ----

So tomorrow is my first proper race of 2017.

Its the North Lincolnshire half marathon in Scunthorpe.

I've been working really really hard over this last month or so to get myself in shape.

I'd say im somewhere near the shape I was in when I ran my last half marathon last halloween and clocked 2h13m.

The aim is to match that and hopefully beat it this time.

I have a pal whos half marathon PB is 2h7m so my tentative goal is to hit that, but i'll be happy with anything around that area.

I don't think I could have prepared any better, I'm the lightest I've been all year @ 14st 13lbs, I feel fit, healthy, no niggles or aches or anything, well rested....

All that's left to do is stuff my face and slob in front of the footy this afternoon.

After the race tomorrow I have booked a few days away, only local this time in Bridlington starting next Sunday.

I have cooking facilities in the accomodation this time, and great walk/run routes along the beaches and clifftops around the coast so there's no excuse to not stay in good shape and maintain fitness throughout the summer.

My goal for the year is to run a sub 2 hour half marathon.

I don't know how realistic that is, but it doesn't really matter.

    ----

    re Health...

I've finally been referred from my GP to a specialist at the hospital...

Who in turn has referred me to a specialist fatigue facility outside of the NHS, and I'm awaiting contact from them.

Things are no better on that front, in the words of Sean Paul it's still a Daily Struggle.

Winning more battles than I'm losing with it at the moment though, and hopefully one day I'll wake up and not have to fight it anymore.

    Fingers x'd.

    ---

Can't wait for race day tomorrow.

    Bring it on :)

Apologies again for neglecting the thread, I can't fix the forum but as TK always says it is what you make it, so I'll try harder to do my own little bit and get this going again.

I do enjoy it, love reading everyones replies and inter-acting with people who post. So we're back.

And i just played 5 HU sngs @ €4 level whilst writing this and won 3 lost 2 so I'm clearly still one of the best players about if not the best.

Hope all are well, race result to be posted tomorrow afto!

    Doh x

Welcome back JJ, & good luck tomorrow.

And yes, this Forum - our Forum - is what players make it. It's been very sad to see some of the stuff on the forum recently. Still, everyone can see - or ought to be able to see - why other sites no longer have "tied" poker forums.

And of course if Sky decided to close this one, those who seem intent on destroying it with their sheer stupidity & short-sightedness will be the first to complain.
