    Hi Tikay.
If you had a chance to move to vegas, do you think you would still visit the poker tables as often as you do now? Or do you think it would be like moving to the seaside "its great for a holiday but you soon get bored if you live there"

I say this because my mom and dad have recently moved to blackpool and when I visit I pop in to the G-Casino, but I don't know if I would find it as exciting if I lived there.

    What do you think?

In truth, I would never want to live in Vegas, Trev, the place has no soul, no character, & there's a total lack of wildlife, fauna, trees, birds, etc.

I don't like the climate there, either, the heat is brutal in the summer.

It's THE place for poker, 100%, and I adore going there to "work" poker, as I have every year since 2004, but that apart, yuk.

lol - Well as for the wildlife in blackpool, it does get a bit wild at night during the summer and as for the birds (I mean the feathered variety) I have seen a few seagulls and the climate is quite changeable, so it does seam to have something going for it that vegas does not.

Anyway - Stay Cool, Drink Plenty of Water and be Lucky on the Tables.

Have a great time in Vegas Tikay

When we venture out there we always spend a good few days in Laughlin (at the Nugget) by the Colorado river 90 miles off from the strip.

Have you ever spent time along there?

    Hi Dud,

    Thank you, I will!

I've not been to that spot, no, but every year, if I get a day off (not always possible) I like to get out of Vegas, & go visit the Hoover Dam, Boulder City, or some deserted spot by the magnificent Colorado River. I just HAVE to escape the artificiality of Vegas, as it really is a City which lacks so much.

I hope this is not construed as ingratitude for my annual (free!) trips to Vegas, it's not, I love the gig, & work hard to earn it. But the truth is, poker apart, Vegas is far & away my least favourite City in the world, of those I have visited anyway. But for Poker, it's THE place, & there is no mistake about that.

More or less my take on it too.

Our last trip we successfully avoided the strip all together - started out Downtown for New Year's Eve then went to a couple of the Station franchise hotels skirting the main drag before heading off to Laughlin via Primm - six or seven decent casinois (with much cheaper rooms) by the river in a much more relaxed atmosphere with far less folks per cocktail waitress ratio!

I use the excuse that we have my Mum and Dad in tow and they hate the crowds......but really I prefer to be away from the strip too.

The smaller poker tourneys by the river also make a better fit for my rookie game.

You should try visiting the "Red Rock Casino", in Red Rock, some 10 miles from Vegas. Probably the nicest Casino in Nevada, &  lot quieter, & classier, than those on the Strip.

    Good call Tikay.

We did take a drive out there (easy straight drive along Sunset if I recall) lovely setting amongst the hills and a nice spacious atmosphere.

I think "the groups" take on the place was tainted slightly by my Mum cleaning up whilst the rest of us lost a daily budget in next to no time.......nice picture of her outside the property holding a couple of C notes to camera just to rub it in.

    Hi Tikay,
What's the best strategy at bubble time when you are the chip leader ?
I seem to get into good positions but just can't seem to get over the finish line so to speak.
I'm finishing outwith the cash far too many times when reaching the final table, what am I doing wrong ????

In Response to Re: Ask Tikay? : Hi bigred In my opinion bad play has to be calling with AQ, you could well be behind, you are an underdog, even to a pair of 2,s, even calling with AK you are only going to be at worst 50/50, unless you are agains AA or KK.
    Posted by acebarry10
Calling with anything isn't bad play as long as you have a reason for doing it. If you have a shove monkey whose range is well below this then your going to call. It's all situational and the cards you hold may be a suicide call in one hand against 1 player and may be the best play against another IMO

when youre presenting sky poker what do you look at to see the players cards, because as a viewer i see floating cards infront of you, but obviously this isnt what you see, so how does that work?

Recently I have lost 3 big pots, was I unlucky or did I play poorly?

I had suited cards pre-flop and are in good positions. After the flops I have 4 to the flush. Every time whether I raise or check the other player goes all in. I call and have lost every time.

Should I put these down, or have I just been unlucky? What is the % chance before the turn and river?

It's difficult to know whether you played poorly or badly without knowing the precise hands and stack sizes.
For example, if you flopped four to the flush with two overcards to the board, you are generally in a much stronger position than if your cards are 23 suited.

What I can tell you is that, if you hold four to the flush, you have a 35% chance of making your flush after the flop and a 20% chance of making your flush after the turn.

In Response to Re: Ask Tikay? : Hi Speedboat, Guarantees & POrize Pools are lower at present due to the World Cup, & the fine weather, Online Poker is very seasonal. Players are not "leaving the site", UPD & general traffic, measured over a 12 month period (the figures are distorted if measured in lesser periods) show double digit year-on-year growth. I'm not sure what you mean by "entry fees remain the same". A £10 Tourney will always be a £10 Tourney, irrespective of traffic levels.

This is the same on most of the other sites except Full Tilt and and Pokerstars .

hi tikay firstly im not complaining about hands because people chase but heres one ive just had kk first hand in tonights 2.5k 8pm and run into aa ive only played around 4 games overall tonight but had it again on another well known site admitted it was a 10 seater the odds on having kk and running into aa are massive to start but twice in around 4 games is silly odds i had a run for around three weeks on here doing really well best probably 3rd in £1500 b/h wed 5th next night and won it on the third night (there was luck involved) but the last week or so no matter wether i get my chips in good its the other way not just this site on others is this the norm many thanks roy

If you are going to go out of a tournament then its probable that you have the best hand going in pre flop but your opponent has you dominated by the size of thier chipstack and feel the call is worth it. Yes this happens often on all sites or at least its happened to me often enough anyway. Now I try getting more aggresive earlier so that I dont need to go all in until really late on in a tournament which is quite handy when there are more than 1000 runners.
