Strange day. Never been described as a rock before.
Had a 3 hour spell where I played 2 hands and they were 43 suited and K9 suited, and missed the flop with both. But my new found reputation as the tightest player in Walsall let me take both pots down.
Then in 3 consecutive hands found 10s, jacks and jacks again, so fired in 3 and 4bets like a madman and shocked the table into submission.
Ended up grinding my way northwards with a small profit at every one of the 9 levels, but only going to showdown a couple of times all day.
10 minutes before stumps were drawn (400/800/100) I had 56k and found QQ in early position. Put in 1850 fully expecting to take it down and a tight player instashoved his 15k+ from the blinds. I folded quickly faceup and got some stick for being too nitty. But unless he didnt plan to play the next day the only hands I could probably be beating were 10s or JJ. and having grinded all day, the last thing I wanted was to go forward on a downer.
Tomorrow is a brand new day, and with 58,800 I am very competitive. And I doubt if I will be folding QQ in a similar spot.
Pleasure having Sam Bayliss on the same table, for someone who says he cant play tournies he seemed to do quite well !
gl all that are still in, will try and keep reading updates at some point unfortunatly daughter is unwell so am a male nurse today ( NO i`m not wearing the uniform ). great work tikay keep it up.
As you might have already gathered, I had an amazing day yesterday.
I have never played a £1k tournie before, my biggest live experience before this was the £60 Grand Prix @ DTD in Notts. This is also the 1st time I'v met up with some of TSP and they've all made me feel warmly welcome.
The 1st four levels were a real grind and I was just treading water. Things then exploded after the dinner break when I hit a set, then rivered a straight - managed to get three streets of value from both hands. Then it fell quiet again and I grinded down a few chips before all the craziness happened as Tikay updated above.
Tikay has been fantastic, I'm in the hotel next to him and he gave me a lift back after 1am - his hotel has a Starbucks which we're both huge fans of - I'm going to grab a latte now and go into the town centre for a bit before returning for start of day 2 @ 2pm.
The rest of the team have been great too, unfortunately I knocked out Gliterbabe when he ran his KQ into my AQ on a Q high flop.
As you can see from Tikay's updates above, I've had to use every ounce of my considerable poker skill (ahem) to get this far as the cards have not been kind to me - I'll try to run a little better today.

This looks an instasnap to me. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said he didn't plan to play the next day. I kind of assume anybody under 50 would be happy to double up or bust a short stack at the end of day 1.
Comments
50 minute remain in today's final level.
Blinds are 400/800/100
153 players began, 83 remain. (70 to make Day Two?)
Ave 36,900
Think we are in reasonable shape, actually.
Ryan & Sam are bossing their Tables. Penguin is on Sam's Table but has a completely different style, & is just quietly accumuating chips.
Quick word about the VLV Semi-Final tomorrow.
1 in 5 will progress from that to the first 2012 VLV final next Sunday. Looks like that Final could be well interesting.
Those in tomorrow's (today's, actually) Semi Final so far are below. You could still join them......

Flop 9-5-4
A-9 man thinks he is good, bet call.
Turn 9-5-4-9
A-9 man IS good, & Jingle happily gets the lot in with his K-K.

Don't anyone EVER tell me that these crash bang wallop hands only occur Online!
JingleMa has a new super shiny stack, and a new guy to his right, who looks a little bemused by it all.
Umm, mixed news now.
Wayne is OUT.
And who busted him?
The man who is on fire - JingleMa!
You cant make this stuff up.
No idea how many chips he has, he has stacks everywhere, he wins them faster than he can stack them!
Dan Brown is OUT now.
Keep it up though Jingle, take it down
Jingle with his new stack.
Think he has had a dalliance with one of Variance Sisters - the nice one.

Ryan 49,000
Jingle-Jangle 142,875 (NOT a typo)
Thank you for following the lads, the Tourney starts to get serious tomorrow.
Play resumes @ 2pm, & continues, I imagine, until a Final is reached, & then they reconvene on Sunday to play the Final.
Night all.
Like the sausage, I'm done, stick a fork in me.
Thanks for updates TK! Nite!
Great thread, keep up the good work.
Will the rest of the Sky Poker team be popping back to help you out for a couple of hours before they leave again?
;-)
