Hi Gary you mentioned that you played alot of hypers on another site, do you know about any decent learning resources specific to hyper games? i'm looking to brush up on my hyper game so would be good to get some different perspectives on how to play them.

Yeah sure, min raise every button, shove 77+, there you go everything you need to know about hypers
Tbf this is really good Gary. Over £10 from just over 700 points which is reality have a value of £0 is great. Posted by BUFC
Thanks a lot. Putting it like that makes it feels quite good. £10 is still super-scary though, if I lose just one £1 HU match that's 10% of my balance gone. I'll start to feel a bit more relaxed if I can build to the £20/£30 mark. When I get £50ish I'll feel pretty rich and the hard work can begin as I push on towards the big numbers.

Not really. With a search engine you'll find tons of free stuff out here that may or may not be useful. If you're really serious about it you could subscribe to a training site, there is one that specialises in HU STTs though it looks like their best content is very expensive.
I've always spent at least 25% of my poker time away from the tables; watching videos, reading forums, books and strategy articles etc. Low stakes MTTs are my speciality, a couple of years ago I focussed on HU STTs for a while specifically to help improve my MTT end-game. If you think about it when there are two left it is by far the most crucial stage of any MTT, there is much more money on the line now than at any other time. For that reason I started playing HU STTs, purely as practice for MTTs. I soon realised the fast HU matches are a fun form of poker, particularly if you only have a few minutes to spare, also they're a good way to run up a few extra loyalty points quickly. So I've continued to play them recreationally ever since.
About a year ago I actually wrote a HU strategy article and made a couple of vids myself for a private Team51 group, mainly to help a couple of guys in the team who were very good at being runner-up in MTTs but awful at getting the all important first place money.

Ok thanks for the reply, i will keep a look out for any decent articles or free vids related to hypers, i like to spend some time just listening and reading different approaches to the game just so my game doesn't stagnate as such. Well done on reaching double figures by the way, looking foward to seeing where your bankroll is this time next month.

Yes, I do Greg, played one yesterday, though turbo not hyper.
I'm happy to play 55p HU games and pay 10% rake against the right opponents. I'll be giving the hypers a miss at that level though. 10% rake is almost unbeatable in hypers imo, the 5% rake charged at £1.05 upwards gives me a much better chance of turning a profit.
For now I'm avoiding hypers because luck comes into it much more than in the slower games. Later when my balance is in more comfortable territory I'll happily play hypers to help run-up poker points, though I expect most (90%+) of the £1K profit (if I get there) to be won in MTTs.

Thanks for the tip, I'll make a decision close to the start dependant on the field size.
Edit;
I gave it a miss. Over 500 runners are chasing 10 spots with rebuys and add-ons available to them, too much of a long-shot to justify using 25 of my points. Many of the freerolls with a £50 prizepool go off with around 200-250 runners, so they're better value for me.
Oooops. I managed to lose a bit of money today. The damage was done in HU STTs in which I lost three out of four matches. It was simply a case of finding myself on the wrong side of the coolers and flips. No worries, it’s expected, you can’t win them all. As long as I win more than I lose over time I’ll be OK. The first DYM of this challenge went a bit better as I successfully cashed in a £1.15 game.
In the 12-30pm freeroll I busted agonisingly close to the money. I jammed AQ from the button over a frequent limper and ran into KK in the blinds. It was an unavoidable cooler due to the hyper-turbo structure and very shallow stacks at the time. I’m playing for first place, not min-cashes. To do that I need to win all the chips so I won’t be shying away from any +ev spots.

I don't know to be honest, their coverage is never quite 100% accurate on any site, so I wouldn't be surprised if one or two of yours have slipped through the net.
Unfortunately no result capture system is perfect and some results will occasionally get missed. On average we have a greater than 95% capture rate. We are constantly working to improve the efficiency of the result capturing. Please note that the tracking rate has improved over time, so the further back you go, the more likely there may be some missing player results. If you wish to have a missing game for the PokerStars, PokerStars.it or PokerStars.fr networks added to the database you may request it here.

Thank's for the reply. It's just a bit annoying.Set myself a challenge after a bad start to the month to get on 2013 dym streak leader board(being Jan only needed 15 that i could see) and get my 1st star for how ever short it lasted. At least I am back in profit for the month I guess you can't have everything ;-).
Myself as a permanent member of the micro's I'd be interested to here your thoughts on the newly introduced freerolls. If I say what Iam thinking well I know what would happen.

re. Sharkscope; I know how you feel. On another well known site I won $532 for second place in a $3 tournament in 2011, then four weeks later I won it for $856. For some reason both results got missed by Sharkscope. While it doesn't really matter I must I'd be quite proud if they'd been recorded on Sharkscope for all to see.
I noticed the new Freerolls earlier. They seem to be loosely based on the 'action hour' type tournaments you see on other sites. Personally I won't be investing 50 Poker Points in these, even though I have a 'never rebuy or add-on in freerolls' policy, in main because my points balance is so low. It'll be interesting to see how much the entrants spend on rebuys and add-ons, I won't be surprised if they cover most or all of the prize-pool.
I am sure they will get runners but the amount of points I earn there is just no value in them for me either.I just hope they do not change the normal ones to this style.
I didn’t have much poker time today and only managed two games. First up was the 10-00am Freeroll. I went deep by playing my best and managing to make a couple of big holds, particularly a 9BB squeeze-shove with A9 winning a full double on the bubble when it held against a big stack’s limp/call with A7.
My demise came with 10 left (from 184 + 38 r/a). With the average stack at only 10BB I re-shoved A9 (again) from the button over a 4BB open shove. The good news was that I had the UTG players A7s crushed. The bad news was seeing the BB wake up with AJ. I was drawing dead on the harshest of possible flops; KQT suited. The A7 guy flopped the nut-flush for a treble-up, the AJ guy flopped the nut-straight to lock-up the side pot. I’m happy that my play in that hand was correct. I can pencil this down to yet another late-stages cooler. My prize of £1.23 was a consolation of sorts, though I was disappointed to fall short of the bigger money at the final table.
In the afternoon I returned briefly playing just one HU match, a success in a £1.05 game. After yesterday’s mini setback I’m pleased to find myself reporting a new highest balance.
It came to my attention today that I’ve been awarded a seat in the ‘Top of the Posts’ competition, guaranteeing a prize of at least £10 on Saturday evening. The rules I set in the opening post technically make this a prize that qualifies towards this bankroll challenge. However I feel my seat was awarded mainly due to my work on the tournament results thread over several months. For that reason I’ve decided that I’ll withdraw whatever I win so that I don’t get an easy boost. I’d rather do this challenge the hard way. For the same reason I’ll also withdraw if I’m fortunate enough to bink a prize in the £5,000 Big Freeroll on February 10th.
seriously mate,a very good gesture from you,as i'm sure everyone will agree. you don't need or want any aditional help i'm sure, but it would have been so easy to have taken it. 'big up' to you mate.
No joy for me in the 12-30pm Freeroll today. I survived the early minefield to make the shallow push/fold stage of the game. My exit came when I jammed 9BB with QJ from the button and failed to improve against A7 on the BB. As is often the case I had the added humiliation of bring outlasted by several away players, including two on my table at the time.
After that I played just one micro HU match which I won.
Progress is very slow at the moment, but I’m happy because it’s in the right direction. Volume of real money games remains very low because I’m still being uber-nitty with table selection. Also the site is quiet when I’m available to play. That nittyness will continue until I have a comfortable cushion of money behind me as it’s crucial if I’m going to give myself the best chance of success. My poker points will run out soon, when that happens I’ll be put to the test with no option other than to try to run-up my cash balance.
I was just about to reg for 60p dym and guess who's alias pops and makes me think again ;-). Checked your tables and see you're playing the 6k re-buy open? Can't wait for update.
That one went pear-shaped belsibub. I had AT v KJ aipf blind v blind on the bubble to end it, but the short stack doubled-up and it was me who ended up as bubble boy.
Due to a lack of time I didn’t enter any freerolls today. Instead I spent some time in micro STTs. Initially I had a fairly torrid time, it was turning into one of those sessions where I found myself all-in and ahead many times but just couldn’t swerve my opponents’ outs. Fortunately I finished on a flourish with victory in two £1.05 HU matches reducing my loss for the day to less than a pound.
This evening I’ll be playing in the Rebuy Open with a free entry won in a live show competition. The odds are stacked against me due to my inability to rebuy or add-on and because the tournament runs in the middle of the night as far as my bodyclock is concerned (I get up for work at 1-30am six days per week). With about 11% of the field typically paid I estimate my chances of cashing to be well below 5%. However I have nothing to lose, I’ll give it my best shot and see what happens. The most likely outcome is an early exit, though you never know. If I do bink any cash I’ll edit this diary entry accordingly.
Edit; I busted the £6K Rebuy Open with AA<33 in the fourth hand of the tournament. At least I got it over and done with quickly and can enjoy a good nights sleep!
I see sharkscope don't class turbo dym's as dym's so only 17 rather than the 20 i count but got my star ;-))). But started this month like last,i will have to think of new challenge for myself.Hope you run golden this month GL.
edit: i take it back you beat me by 1 in the omaha freeroll ;-)
It was a somewhat pleasing start for me today with a min-cash in the Omaha freeroll, though it was a case of ‘what might have been’. Twice I was outdrawn with my A-A-x-x losing to Q-Q-rag-rag aipf for monster pots, including my exit hand.
After the freeroll I entered a £1.15 DYM and cashed. I’d been planning to get quite a few games in today, however by then I was starting to feel pretty rotten due to a stinker of a head cold and chose to abandon my session early.
In the evening I came back online to play in the Top Of The Posts game. Two big chunks of luck in the early stages won me the tournament. Firstly I won a flip for stacks against Dohhhhhhh, my pocket QQ surviving against his AK aipf. Neither of us were ever folding there, whoever lost the flip was going out in fifth, whoever won it would assume the chiplead. Soon after that I eliminated BorinLoner in total luckbox fashion; I limp/shoved pocket 44 from the SB over his raise from the BB with 99, I binked a 2-outer to take a big chiplead with 3 players left. I wish I could run that well in the freerolls!
Scouse_Red was sitting out, it didn’t take long for his stack to blind out due to the rapidly rising blinds and I got heads-up against Paige55. Paige put up a brave fight, but the chips seemed to be going in only one direction and I soon prevailed. As per my earlier decision the £50 first place prize does not count towards this bankroll challenge and has already been withdrawn.

Total respect to you for your challenge.
It's amazing the patience you must have to sit through all those Freerolls.
Good luck:D
