Hi Gazza and all. This really is fascinating reading. Been playing on the site for about a year now but never really delved into the forum. glad I have. Great to read evaluations of hands from players with far far more experience than me. I am thinking about setting one of these 'diaries' up myself to make me focus on my bankroll more, as at the moment, I have virtually no management skills of it. WOuld people be interested even though I am new here? One other question which will make me seem a total 'noob', what does NL mean when refering to buy in at a table? Posted by Jack3010
new player diaries are quite popular, there's probably loads of players in the same boat as you that would follow and come out of the lurking woodwork. peter27 has started one that's had a great response from everyone.
people go out of their way to help people here, post some hands in the clinic, get a thread started, even if it helps you focus it's worth it.

I've hijacked TPTP123's hypers diary, only update it once a month, and i have a mega-standard life, like TT v AK late MTT standard, so i couldn't inflict that onto the forum.
I am not new to playing poker here, just new to the forum, so have a fair bank roll with some decent results over the past year. May start one over the weekend!
Thought id take a break... withdrew my money. Next day I got bored and put it back in - woe is me!
Either way I ended up playing the main on Friday night... and well long story short I ended up finishing 7th. Exit hand AK v 99 for a mega pot which probably would have seen me cash in top 2/3 at least if I had won the flip. BUT I CASHED. My downswing kinda hit me hard after such an incredible upswing.... best few weeks in poker, followed by the worst - my head was screwed.
Played the rebuy tonight after busting main and deepstack and finished 5th after a rather horrible play by me. I knew I was making a mistake when I hit the 'all in' button but couldnt help myself. It was like an outer-body experience with me shouting at myself 'FOOOOOOOOLLLLDDD' and yet all I could do was watch myself effectively hang myself in slow motion.
Still... a cash is a cash right?? And i'll keep taking these cashes after the last few weeks i've had. Belief tentatively restored.
4) I've set myself a little target. I've withdrawn some of my BR for obvious reasons leaving £300 in my account. Target is to grind this into 2.5k by the end of 2013 - tough as I only play MTTs. I have serious doubts about doing it, but I suppose it'd be pointless to set an easy target!

Cheers mate, although i think thats my total MTT stats. Think im more around the +2k mark on sharkscope since starting this diary, plus a min cash from SPT and a bit on cash. But yeah generally things are going ok
I'm out already! Similar hand, AKs and flopped the A but someone flopped a set, so lost quite a few on that then ran my remaining stack AQ into AK. Thankfully I also got in for £12 as 15 minutes of poker for £55 wouldn't have been a very good £ to minute ratio!
The only plus side to being out already means I can save a fiver by not entering mini
Well I've read the thread about RTR now. Nice to see Sky have closed it to completely confuse and frustrate people. Nice to know we can't even have a discussion about even a sky promotion without the thread getting closed.
But I feel like every sky customer has a right to be irritated by this situation. Yes Sky want to make money and attract new players, but offering a significantly better promotion to these new players via this affiliate compared to those offered to the regs is baffling.
If I understand it correctly, if you sign up through RTR then you automatically get 30% rake back regardless of what points you get... and it looks like its over a longer period than just the first month too.
So if I get 1000 points by playing solely tournaments I have paid £100 rake, and get £10 back. If I get 1000 points by solely playing cash I have paid £166 rake, and get £10 back.
However the same for 30% rake back is £30 and £50 respectively.
Expand these numbers to 5000 points instead of 1000 over a 12 month period and you can really highlight the difference it makes to a lot of players - Hundreds and hundreds of pounds worth of extra money each year, just for signing up?
I play on sky almost exclusively. All my money goes on Sky. I've been here over a year and usually im the one backing sky, highlighting that they do have good promotions to those who criticize on the forum. But the difference between this promotion and any that are available to existing customers is staggering. Sure, offer good deals to new players, but don't make the deal so tempting and that much better that you alienate your current cliental. It makes no sense.
Preparing for this thread to be closed now as apparently we aren't allowed to express an opinion on here.
Agreed. I mean if it gets a lot of bad players to sign up then I guess that's good for us, but it won't just be bad players that sign up - and if it attracts good players as well then that's going to be even worse for us!
It will attract wayyyyyyy more good players than bad players.
I'm a winning player over a long period of time & been around forums a while now, and I wasn't farmiliar with RTR before yesterday, so how would a beginner/losing player know about it?
It will also encourage existing players to open new accounts, there will be many names disappear and come back under new alias's.
I don't give a shiny sh! te about rakeback, I'm happy to scrap it altogether, but the damage that this will do to the games is the big worry.
a sky sanction for continuing to raise a topic that has been very clearly indicated as contrary to sky's wishes is an indefinite forum ban (speaking from experience - but i was one of the lucky ones allowed back on - other's were not so lucky)
frustrated sure - but best to save such discussions for other places
However, if your brother happened to take up the game chicknMelt.... Posted by Lambert180
If your brother doesn't have his own computer, don't worry RTR will give you instructions on the best way to do it on your computer, I'd copy and paste from the Email they sent me but I don't want to get gazza's thread closed for him.

Tbh Geldy if sky want to ban me for a harmless discussion, not an attack on them, but merely an opinion, then i'll close my account anyway and go elsewhere.

don't close the account in case you want to come back - as I did
Although decided to play the main tonight. Forgot about the tournament til about 9pm so didnt have the opportunity to satellite in - so direct buy in it was.
Never got going in it.

UKOPS has been pretty awful for me, although thankfully i've managed to avoid buying in direct to most of the events.
So as some of you may have noticed i've not been posting for a while. This is for two main reasons. Firstly, I haven't really been playing all that much of late. A few busy weeks at work has meant that late nights are slightly less appealing than usual. This is a shame as my favourite tournaments (the 12:00 and 12:30) are obviously the ones that run latest... and they are undoubtably the tournaments I do best in. The second reason is when I have been on i've been running worse than heather mills in a 3 legged race. I cant win anything. Its genuinely depressing logging on... entering a tournament picking up a premium hand and having a sense of dread knowing that somehow its going to be the end of me.
Heck I even entered a 60p HU game just to get a win under my belt to boost confidence. That didn't go well. As the cards were turned I even said outloud 'I wonder which new and interesting way i'm going to lose this hand'

Confidence is in tatters. I'm questioning every move I do. Do I raise into my draw? Do I station off? Do I 3 bet 1010 in pos? Do i peel 45s in the blinds 100bb deep. Do I raise my set on the flop. Do I value bet TPTK? Do i call off my tournament life with QQ to a 4bet Jam? Do I shove AKs into my nut draw against a station opponent? Yes all of these scenarios are all situation and player dependant, however I feel like each one of these decisions I've been taking recently has been wrong. Situations like this i'd normaly know what i'd be doing even before the action comes to me suddenly has become such a chore... and it doesnt help when the cards are against you - like flopping the nuts, like I did in a 60p DYM (lol) and getting outdrawn on the river just seems standard now.
Sigh. I didnt want this post to be me just moaning about poker, even if it has turned out that way. I just wanted to let people know why I havent posted in a while.
In 'the real world' im quite happy. I've got a job I love which involves football and betting with a contract which ive been chasing for months finally pinned down. So i've got a stable job with a decent income. As poker has been rubbish recently i've made a point of going out a lot more midweek to see friends rather than just weekends. A lot of beers has been drunk, a lot of pool has been played and a lot of football has been watched. I'm trying to organise a trip to Canada next year to go skiing with friends and im searching for a place to rent so I can finally move out. I'm a busy boy and live is moving forwards. I'm 22 and I have years and years of badbeats to go. At the minute im letting bygones be bygones and trying to enjoy my life at the minute regardless of how poker is going.
With that in mind i've decided to reassess poker in the coming month. I've withdrawn everything from my Sky Poker account and have capped my depositing to the minimum possible. I'm solely going to be playing with my C4P this month, which if I remember correctly is between £100-150 somewhere. With my downswing in full momentum and confidence shattered im dropping way down stakes til I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. So if im playing cash, its most likely 4nl and if im playing tournaments its unlikely to be with BIs of any higher than a fiver and some satellites. Think this is for the best. I still want to play poker but sticking with the stakes I am is going to get a bit ridiculous if the swing continues. I need to slow it somewhat and feel this is the best way to do it.
So yeah. C4P is my BR this month. I'll see if I can build it up and potentially not have to redeposit.... and if I lose it, meh it was free money and its definitely less than I would have lost otherwise.

How are you doing these days?
But... as some of you will have seen on the tv i couldnt give my opposition credit for the Jack on the first hand in the primo.
Sigh.
Took a massive gamble 4 bet shoving a serial 3 bettor with 33. Looked up by Q10 and my 3s held.
Out.
Muppet.
DOOOHHHHHHHHH

Theres normally some words inbetween tho
They are quite clear you can only have one account/ user name.
Good luck!
