Due at work at 6am. It got to 1am and still couldn't sleep, so made the executive decision to just stay up. Cashed in some £5 MTT, watched Don't Tell The Bride. What a rock and roll lifestyle I lead. Thought the live show was good tonight, a refreshing change. The comments from Tikay were genuinely humbling. As and when I do return to the UK, there will only be one place I play my bulk of poker. Really pleased for Waller. Loved his honesty, and what a wedge of cash to splash about with. Just about to hit 'add post' and I could hear my alarm go off; good decision to swerve bed I think. Might not be saying that if I nod off during my lunch hour.... Posted by hhyftrftdr
Mean't every word, you are a breath of fresh air here, & will be much missed.
Would love you to be a Guest on the Channel, too, but I fear age-related issues may be a obstacle.
Yesterday was a blur. Going out drinking at 8am on completion of a 12 hour night perhaps wasn't the wisest idea. Meh, who am I kidding, it was ace. Feeling drunk after the 3rd pint due to a lack of sleep, great stuff. Still somehow put up a decent showing in the DTD games, well not the first one, couldn't have played that worse! But the other 2 went well. If I can sneak in the top 10 every week, I should blag the monthly before I depart these shores. Thank you for the various kind words guys. I'm not going to a new site or anything! I'm heading off to SE Asia for the foreseeable from the end of September, with little trips to Las Vegas and Majorca before I go as well. So September is shaping up to be some month, busy but fun. The Venetian has a $300 bounty hunter on whilst I'm on my flying visit to LV.....would be rude not to play that! Britpop fans, my hometown band Shed Seven had 3 albums remastered and re-released yesterday. Have a dose of nostalgia....Chasing Rainbows pretty much sums up my poker! Posted by hhyftrftdr
I was going to ask if you were 'going away' as in having a stay at Her Majesty's pleasure, in which case you could still play in between trips to the gym, sports hall and jakuzzi. However as you are going abroad you can't play, as we have all found out by looking at the Sky Poker Cup thread. Good luck with your trip, I will miss your sarcasm and put downs - always well deserved.

I think my rugged good looks and lack of a regional dialect probably work against me as well
FWIW I'm 27. I even have an out of date provisional license to prove it. Sigh, not for the first time in my life, I really want a pink one.

Ok so the 'Vow' so far is failing. I seem to be in a forum dispute over the ability to count. I also sarcastically said something to giant811 when he won a big pot late in a DTD game last night....he did only have 3 outs so it was pretty lucky to be fair
Have finished top 10 in both DTD weeks so far.....determined to nail that monthly! Owned by Dohhhhhh HU in DTD3 last night; really wasn't fair as his HU experience is far far greater than mine. He picked off my bluffs and didn't pay me off when I had the goods, sigh.
Thought I saw some chip dumping from another team.....not clear cut as it could have been a misclick or whatever but certainly clear cut that 6 high for close to a 1/3 of your 20bb ish stack with someone still to act behind, and the shove was UTG.
No poker tonight, seeing a friend who has spent a year in Australia and recently returned. Not seen him since May '13. He still owes me £200 for a holiday to Egypt from 2009, but I'm unlikely to even mention that tonight.

Calling pre with any 2 not the best way of chip dumping, that said I'm sure there are sharper tools in the box than Slipwater

So not only has the vow failed online, it also failed playing in Leeds yesterday. Some guy next to me didn't appreciate an innocuous comment I made regarding checking the river to him to let him take a stab at the pot (I held 55 on a low raggy board where various draws had missed by the river). I'd led 2 streets but felt it would be too thin value to bet a third street, and wanted to give him the chance to try and win it. He started saying I was FOS and that I'd have hated it if he bet the river blah blah blah.
I thanked him for his insight. Low and behold, a few orbits later after he'd steamed off a load of his stack, he limped A8s UTG out of maybe 22ish BB, about 32 players limp behind so we go to the flop with half the casino in the hand, and he goes broke on an A 10 3 flop vs 33. WP sir, far too good for me.
I busted in a dubious spot, felt A10s was doing ok vs someone's range. Alas, they had AA, gg me. My mate was involved in the chop at gone 5 this morning though, and I had 10% of him so £130 heading my way.
Well Vegas was a total poker washout. Not only spent up every last $ I took, also made a couple of withdrawals that I had hoped I wouldn't need to do. More fool me. The sad thing is that I didn't even play that many tournaments. But 2 of them I re-entered, and those 2 alone cost me $675 with not even a hint of a return. Vegas is a great place when you're winning, less so when things don't go your way. Only myself to blame though; I played some pretty awful stuff, and though most of my exits were unfortunate (KK vs 99, AK vs AQ type suckout stuff) the damage had already been done in the poor play leading up to those fateful hands.
One of the said re-entered tournaments was a Saturday special at the Wynn, $25k gtd, $225 BI. Even though I'd already overspent for the trip, this tourney had a decent structure and very nice sums up top, for what would be my last shot at getting a cash on this holiday. Plus I'd never played poker at the Wynn, so that convinced me to do it.
Yeah, I polished off my first buy in within the first level. It started at 12pm, I was asking for a rebuy by half past. It did have a decent clock (40 minutes), but the starting stack was only 100bb. I got myself into a spot of bother with QQ on a 655J double suited board vs a guy who had shown previously that he liked to 'mix it up'. His check raise on the turn screamed he had a 5, but his loose aggro rep got him paid off as he had peeled 85 from the SB and stacked me. So I had to stump up another $200 to remain in the tournament. Almost immediately, flopped 10's full and turned quads, and got someone to shove into me, happy days! Sadly, that was not only the high point of that tournament but probably the whole trip! Stack just kinda dwindled away from there. Got my last 14bb in with A10s vs 33, and had that yes/nooooo moment that poker can dish out occasionally....first card out is the A, followed by a 3 to leave me almost drawing dead. Kinda summed up my poker quite nicely.
Despite all that above, I still maintain that poker on the strip is relatively soft. Obviously you need to play well yourself, and need that all important run good, but there is money to be made if you go the distance. Some vintage plays I witnessed include a guy raising 3000 UTG at 300/600, everyone folds and he proudly shows KK. Wp sir. The best though was a pot that went 4 or 5 way. Think there was perhaps 1.5k in the middle, and the SB donk shoves his stack of about 8k into the middle on a 479 board, everyone folds and he rolls over 74. Mad skills sir.
Off poker, flew back with BA last night/this morning. First time I'd flown long haul with them so was interested to see what their product was like. Pretty disappointed in our flag carrier. A bo11ock freezing cabin, 2 hour delay, entertainment that was limited and also didn't work for the first couple of hours, turgid food, no drink runs through the night, and seat pitch wasn't exactly generous either. Perhaps I was just unlucky but I'd certainly look to use Virgin Atlantic over BA for future flights to Nevada. What are your thoughts Tikay? (on the off chance you read this) From one plane geek to another
Are there any good airlines in cattle class any more for long haul?
And yes BA is cold on overnight flights regardless of what class your are in.
As for drink service getting up off ones a**e and getting it oneself is the general rule. Only once had a battle axe refuse to serve me a double (because someone else was drunk! ).
But still fly BA because the all round package is still fairly decent. Unless you end up on one of their old planes or get served by the aforementioned battle axe.

I flew with Turkish Airlines to Hong Kong last year, they were excellent. Great food and film selection, nice staff, all flights went smoothly. My first ever flight (6 years ago) was to Australia via HK with Cathay Pacific, again they were good but it was literally my first time in the air so didn't have anything to compare with at the time.
Felt Virgin were decent to Vegas earlier this year.
I've yet to fly with any of them, but it seems to be the middle east/Asian carriers that are setting the benchmark; Singapore, Etihad, Emirates, Qatar, even the slightly more obscure ones like Oman Air have great reputations. Some European and American airlines could certainly learn a thing or 2 from them.
Who's your carrier of choice to China Geldy?
Edit- fair enough about getting up for your own drinks, but I had the window seat and the couple next to me were sleeping for most of the flight, was reluctant to disturb them. A couple of runs with bottles of water would've been appreciated.

Sounds like a great adventure - stay safe, enjoy and good lucks.
I'll look after the sarcasm in your absence!

That, and the extremely offensive odour.
Check and mate, gg.
I'm Australian
When you leaving?
I need to know so I can reload
Erm not really sure how to reply to that !

Sorry Gazza, didn't realise I had a PM. Cheers Sky!
Can ship tomorrow if that's ok?
