Am I right in thinking that you can not buy into a regional game, but you will be able to buy into the grand final?

    Or a meringue?

I don't know, as I stated yesterday, to be honest.

The position to my knowledge is....

    1) For Legs 1 to 5, it is planned to be Qualification by Super-Satellites on SkyPoker.com only.

    2) For the Grand Final, I don't know - it all depends on Venue Capacity, & how many Seats are won via Satellite I assume. I would assume - for now - that it's Online Qualification only.

The Tour Manager may know better than me on this, if so, once he gets his Forum Alias sorted, he will comment as appropriate.

    Hi
I'm not sure. There is nothing in the blog to suggest that it will be like last year and that you will be allowed into the final by buying in. My thoughts are that like last year Sky will wait until the last leg has sold out, to anounce that decision.
Why, well put yourself in their shoes, if they say now you can buy into the final, how many of us would do any of the first 5 legs.

    hi guys,

this is all set up so hopefully we should see Rich on here soon.

look out for 'SPT' - coming to a thread near you.

Sorry **Puts sock in mouth** .. Just ASSUMED it would be same as last yr. Actually prefer online qualification for main event to stop such a large amount of non sky players entering... Maybe when the satelites start to 'dry up' when most players have qualified then the remaining seats (if any are left) could be bought.... Let wait and find out

    hi
Just to say i do agree with not releasing details of the final.
Why, well im a great fan of the community feel of this site and we should take part in the  first 5 legs and if the "better or more well off" players dont take part then we are losing out on things.
I might go so far as to say that, after last year, when the field had a lot of no Sky players in it, i would make part of the qualification that you have had played on the site(not just register) and have taken part in at least one of the qualifiers(any satellittes).
A bit draconion but hey ho.

    Thats very fair comment Col.

But let's look at that a little wider.

Yeah, we all want it to be just "us", of course we do.

But - and I'm being being purely hypothetical here - what if by "opening it up" to a degree, the Prize Pool was, say, doubled, & we got the chance to play with a few Pros, such as Julian Thew?

Julian - he only lives round the corner from DTD - would have played the DTD Grand Final this year had it not clashed with Vegas.

As an aside, we are also hoping - not wholly set up yet, but it's in the plan - to have a few Pros at each Leg.

Sky Poker take the view, & so do I, that it's kinda neat for our players to get the chance to play with a few of the big boys now & then.

These issues are rarely 100% clear-cut.

But Sky Poker will try to do what they think is right by their Players - it would not make commercial sense to do anyrthing else. But agreeing what the players want is an altogether different kettle of fish!

I think the balance should be that x% of pro's are allowed in to the final/legs. I for one would love the experience of playing with them. If that improves my game then that is a plus.

    Hi Tony,
I agree with you 100%, as your good mates with Mr Thew, get him to open an account and pit his skills in the Bounty Hunters lololol.
I was making a point, that was made, at the final by a lot of the sites regulars.
I was one of them but i would gladly take on some of the pros to see how good i actually am.
For me, i revelled in the fact that the standard at the final was a fair bit higher than any tourney i have played before and did myself and Sky(imo) proud, and was very happy when Simon Trumper announced that i was chip leader.
Just a thought, any chance of getting some"stars" to play the open again, in the new schedule?
    col
  • edited October 2009

I agree entirely Col, I was just showing the other side of the coin, being Devils Advocate if you like.

As to "stars" playing in our (Online) Open, etc, that again is not as clear cut as it may seem.

Thewy, for example, would do it for me if he could, guaranteed, as would scores of other Pros. But like most of the Big Boys, he's Contracted to another Site, & so it would not really be do-able without offending his existing sponsor.

Would Sarah Champion do, as a substitute? ;)

    Hi Rich,
A very warm welcome to the family, and i do hope you've got broad shoulders m8
Without doubt everything WILL be your fault and i think having a pair of stock ready for you isn't out of the question.
In fact i think that could bring in value to the days. Soak the presenters, £5 a sponge, proceeds to charity, it'll make millions hehehe.

Broad shoulders? You could say that!

Back in the day, 1st August 2006 to be precise, I put a press release up on various fora announcing the launch of a Poker Tour I helped set up, with tikay as it happens.

Several weeks, and several thousand posts later on one thread, they were still going at it!

Famous last words, but the SPT/associated threads are going to be fun!

Hi Dave. Nothing personal but I would imagine I would prefer your fiancee too

    Dean Court

Currently three sided, the ground has been rotated ninety degrees from its original position with redevelopment.

    White Hart Lane.

Ah!!!!!!!!  Archibald Leitch designed old stands, now redeveloped. Actually, IMO this is one of the best of the redeveloped original grounds. Done very sensitively to the old character of the place.

    San Siro

Is actually the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, named after a footballer who played in the 34 and 38 World Cups. No one knows that though, as everyone calls it after the area the stadium is in

Nice didn't know that about Milan!

SPT question : assume we have to join/be a member of the participating casinos?

    Dave
  • edited October 2009

Lol, I warned you boys. And he got that out of his head, not google. He'll have photos, which he took himself, of all the grounds, too.

Bet he does not know how much a pound of eggs costs though.

Yes. Before the first event we'll pop out a briefing for all players detailing how to become a member, if you aren't already.
