There was too much time between hands we had to watch the dealer shuffle and cut the deck.
Its good seeing every hand but that doesnt mean you have to show the dealer shuffling. I was watching on sky plus and was fast forwarding 30 seconds between every hands.
Why is it on so late at night? :S Posted by DOHHHHHHH
This seemed to be the best time to get it out on the channel as you get those who are online already plus people returning from a night out. The show is repeated at around 9pm the following week. Checking the TV schedule for all the latest repeat times
using a "sandwich" technique... i think it will become a really good show. it was great to see how they play. the only suggestion is that it would be good to upgrade the graphics. resizing the display showing six hands to five and resizing again to four is distracting, disorientating and unnecessary. furthermore, the position and style of these graphics is catering too much for those who have 4:3 televisions and consequently are too big, clumsy and central for 16:9 viewers. the red tickertape at the bottom interferes with the displayed graphics at all times. and the definition of the graphics is quite furry. it was good to watch. great stuff. Hi aussie09
Unfortunately due to OfCom rules and regulations all on screen graphics have to be 4:3 safe. Its driven me up the wall as visually not the nicest.
This first series has been a major learning curve for myself and the team here at the channel, so when we shoot series 2 we will be looking at all the feedback
Episode 2 is on air tomorrow night at 23:00 (Friday 1st July). Mr Neil Channing will be joining the table during this show so expect lots of banter and some long stories.
As the shows go on over the next couple of weeks I can guarantee the action gets better and the post bigger. It took some time for all the players to be comfortable so understand that show 1 was not that strong.
Some issues as the 'repeat' bug on screen is out of my hands, but I have sent A nagging email to the relevant department
The more feedback you send in the better as we would love to shoot a similar show again and there is ALWAYS room for improvement

thank you for commenting claire. i understand your constraints. however, is it not true that the graphics could still be compliant but better positioned? by this i mean that instead of looking pretty for the 4:3 viewer and ugly for 16:9 majority, why not adopt a different perspective.
make the graphics 4:3 ugly and 16:9 pretty?
the other suggestion was to stop the resizing the OK five hand display to the vulgar four player size.
Twenty minutes to go, anyone else ITT for real time chit chat about this episode?
Really looking forward to seeing Channing join. Plus now the game has settled down I think you can start lighting the fireworks. I think both Reds and Jamie are stuck at the moment, so that should create an interesting dynamic in itself.
Dam it, I missed it last night. Anyone know when it is repeated ? Ignore this ;o) Just seen Claire's post Posted by JockBMW
Both episodes are on later today according to the EPG - EP1 at 17:00 following by EP2 at 19:00 - so not sure about the 23:00 in Claire's post because the main show will still be on at that time.
I've only watched the first episode so far but actually like to see all the hands rather than just the action hands.
The poker shows I have always enjoyed the most are those that up the volume on the table chat so they Presenter and Analyst can just chip in when there isn't any action or to explain action to the viewer. Listening to the interaction between the players is very entertaining.
The rolling chips effect during interview questions looked a little odd I think.
More graphic summaries of current stack sizes would be good, perhaps once every orbit or two just for a few seconds?
The air time seems weird to me too, I know other channels, C4, C5, show poker at this sort of time but I would have thought that's related to scheduling issues rather than preference.
Posted in answer to someone elses question about how the table used in this works. I thought I'd repost here as it's quite interesting, if you like that sort of thing.

Would someone explain to this ignoramus what a straddle bet is exactly?

That was a lovely play.
Message to Tikay when he gets back, can you ask about the thinking behind Paul Jackson's 10 pound river bet with 83 into a 170 pound pot please?
Blocker? Post Oaking? Amazing thin value v high card hands? Whhhaaaatt?
A straddle is usually a bet of twice the big blind posted by the utg player. It's used to create more action.
Loving this episode so far, it's really burst into life. Waynes not having much luck.
Thanks AcidMan
