Hand History #346993361 (22:19 28/02/2011) i was just wondering if i could have played this hand better i know that 2 aces are the best hand pre-flop, but if i know or think iam up against a lower pocket pair, what are the chances of my aces holding up,
as you can see in the hand that iam refaring to i put all my money in, i was a little uncomfotable doing this but knew i was infront, can you offer me any advice on what to do if am put in this postion again, should i take the risk?

Hi Lewis,
I cannot accesss anyone's Hnd Histories, & there would be murders to pay if I could, as I play on this Site, & some people might think there was something amiss, you know how it is.
But......
If you are saying you had A-A, & you got all the money in pre-flop, then you did nothing wrong - just do the same every time.
You will probably lose 1 time in 5 (approx), but you should not mind that as you will win 4 times in 5. (approx).
Cheers Tikay thats very good of you anyday for the TSP will do (I suppose its to l8 for tonight?) and as for the STT i,m in no rush - Just wanted to get it clarified Thx again Posted by MP33

Morning Paul.
I have arranged free entry for you into tonight's "TSP Classic", as agreed. Win the lot!
I am still trying to sort the other matter out, which is quite complicated, but I'll get there.
Thankfully, the purveyors of this dreadful product have now been banned from selling the product. To be fair, anyone who was daft enough to pay £14 for it was, I suggest, a bit wrong in the head.

Hi Nan,
AceBarry has answered the qiestion about table-loading speeds. To be honest, it's always affected me, too, it just takes 10 or 15 seconds sometimes iuf I use the Browser Client, but if I use the Download, it does not happen.
Have you tried the Download?
Omaha Hi-Lo?
Why yes, I love it, I find it very relaxing, great fun, & it makes me think a bit, unlike NL Hold Em. It's Pot-Limit, &, whilst opinions differ, fairly & naturally, I much prefer Pot Limit to No Limit, I feel it adds a huge range of skill & nuances to poker.
If you want half hour of Hi-Lo Omaha with me, no problem. Let me know what time you'd like to play, & at what stakes, & I'll organise a half-hour session with you.

Hi Tikay, just a quick question, am thinking about entering my 1st TSP classic tonight, just wondered out of interest what your recommended level of poker play should be to have a chance (ie ability)?

Hi Knowit,
The standard in that one is as good as any regular Tourney on here. That said, if you have the basic skills & discipline (be patient!), & you bink a bit of luck, & win your races, most players could go deep & cash, or even win it. The difference betwen "competent" & "good" is wafer-thin, you know.
If you can afford to lose £11, it's a good a Tourney as you can play, really.
I'm hoping to play it myself, so I'll look out for you.

Thank you for your reply Tikay but like any other tourney I enter I'm not looking to lose 11 quid but my bankroll will let me if I have a howler lol, I think entering will let me know where I am with my game, if Im poor then its back to the lower Tourney entries and the 2/4p cash games, I will not if I get lucky think I a good player, just wanna see where my game is at, cheers
Picked up your advice to always hold the maximum amount when playing cash games, re-investing when necessary, i.e. you lose say £20 from a £100 max.
What about when entering rebuy tournaments - should you buy an add-on immediately the tournament opens to give yourself the maximum, i.e. 4000 chips in an initial 2000 chip tournament. I appreciate you will be doubling your stake.
Many thanks for all the great tv shows to you and the team

Well, contrary to what many might say, or think, when entering a large-field MTT, you should assume you will lose your Entry Fee, because most times, you will, even if your name is Trickett, or Hellmuth, or whoever. We just have to accept that, & in doing so, a "cash" becomes a bonus.
And I see you cashed, in 15th place, for just over £20, too? Excellent! Hope you play it again, it's a grand Tourney.

Thanks Robbo.
Rebuy strategy?
I think you'll find most players will take their Rebuy as soon as the Tourney commences, you just need to be below starting stack I think, so I just limp-fold once, or wait for the Blinds to do the job. And ALWAYS take the add-on (unless you have a mountain of chips) as that has a 50% "bonus".
So, in, for example, a 2,500 chip Take-on-tikay, my starting stack would be 2,500, + the insta-add-on, = 5,000. If I can make the Add-on in "neutral" mode, I take the add-on, which is 3,750 chips, & now, even if I have not played a single hand, I can settle down to play properly with about 80 x BB.
Others get aggro early, if that is what you prefer, set yourself a LIMIT to how many Rebuys, say 2, or 3, & ALWAYS leave enough to take the Add-On, as you get bonus chips for that.
So, your committment in a rebuy can be just the buy-in, (if played as a freezeout), or as much as 5 buy-ins. I've known some take 10 or 20 rebuys, but that's just setting fire to money.
Personally, I think they represent excellent value for the thinking players, despite the fact that the Rebuys & AO are raked.
The Friday Night Main Event is the only Rebuy Main Event, & the Friday night TOTTY is the only rebuy TOTTY, though there are rebuys nightly.
I believe rebuy Bounty Hunters will be very popular soon, too, there is an interesting dynamic to those, which changes the usual maths.
Good luck, & thank you for the kind comment about the Shows.
In Response to Re: Ask Tikay? : Didn,t quite take it down but after you got knocked out with your JJ i managed to get up to 17k and ended up 12th Bit dissapointed not to make the top ten but cant complain - a few hours free entertainment and an extra £17 in my BR Gonna start getting some STT practise in now Thx again Paul Posted by MP33
What's not to like? Well done.
I can't recall my exit, but I know I had J-J - I exited 3 of my 4 Tourneys with J-J! In one of them, playing plenty, I somehow got it all-in pre against.....K-2.
In another, I was a "non-believer" of young Direwolf, who had the Aces, & who quadded up! Meh.
A most enjoyable evening at the Tables, & I'm glad you binked a "free" cash. Worked out nice, eh?
TK!!! I saw you went out of tonights deepstack after our table was broken up - I went out shortly after Pretty gutted not to have made the final table but AQ vs AK, what could I do ( Still managed to tripple my bankroll Not bad from a £4 satalite! Cheers for putting up with my abuse. Posted by TheOscarer
Morning Oscarer.
Nice result for you, most especially as you satellited into it.
Your abuse? You were a bit "in my face", but it was not so much "abuse" as excitement, & I never thought it was personal, you were just fine, we all show our enjoyment in different ways. I play on the site most nights, & it seems to be the fashion to "mock-abuse" me - at least, I think it's "mock".......
Sorry I could not chat much, but I was on 5 Tables last night, & everyone was chatty.
Glad you enjoyed the evening, & hope to see more of you.
In case you guys dont show my hand (requested it in thread) i just wanted your quick thoughts on my fold of Kings VS Aces, i know you were talking about that with Ian Fraser the other week.
347661247 - I make what should have been my best fold ever (so far after 2 months play! lol), getting rid of kings pre flop after an odd shove by a fellow large stack in this 15k BH semi, what follows still hurts now, knew he had aces cos its the only hand he would risk that spot with, so just couldnt.
But what id like to know is should i have played it any different given the circumstances? We were around 8/9th out of 36 left, when top 12 'cashed', i would have been all in to call.
Was this, as i hoped at the time, a good fold? surely not a bad reraise pre flop? had to get more money in then and wanted it heads up with the shortstack really. Shouldnt be results orientated as you always say so good fold then? i was so proud of myself for like 0.84 secs until i saw king on flop lol!
A percentage of your buy in is put towards the prize pool and then the remaining percentage is put on your head (the bounty) If you knock someone out of the tournament, you gain their bounty. People tend to call all in's a bit looser as there is the chance of winning someones bounty. I hope this explains, im sure others can add extra stuff too, im only a newbie myself.
new 2 this poker think, having fun,but whats a bounty tourament? Posted by norman1968
Hi norman & welcome to the forum,
Just to expand on djgrevos reply. With a bounty hunter half of the entry fee goes into the prize pool and the other half is put on the players head as a bounty, When you eliminate a player from the game you receive 3/4 of his bounty and the remaining 1/4 is added to the bounty that is on your head.

Hi JANANA,
Well yes - the fact that the K dropped has absolutely nothing to do with the decision being right or wrong - nothing at all.*
I cannot, I'm afraid, access your H-H, sorry.
It is a HUGE fold though, & many will say "I can't fold Kings in that spot". Some will say the opposite - you were cruising to a nice cash, no need to risk it.
Tomatoes & tomaytoes, potatoes & potartoes.
Not sure I could make that fold, but sometimes you just KNOW he has to be ahead.
* I play with one regular who comments after EVERY hand "oooh, I woulda won that, I had 9-3 & woulda flopped the house" or whatever. Really hard to know what to say when they reel that stuff out hand after hand! Just move on, forget it, it's gone. If I looked back at every mistake I'd made in life, I'd never be able to see what lay ahead. Bonkers.
Yes i almost knew you were going to say that but i still needed to hear it, lol, as it is it didnt matter, i didnt tilt too bad and came back and qualified so il be playing in a bit.
I just feel a bit cheated that i managed to make the mightiest of lay downs pre flop, and the accomplishment to have been soured yaknow? But anyway i can still go to my grave happy knowing i folded kings to aces, something Ian said he had never done! Thanks tikay
ps - maybe one thing of note is that i made the fold after putting about 1/3 of my stack in, i felt it was a spot few players would make as bigger fold as that so was well chuffed for like i say a nano-second! lol
