In Response to Re: Ask Tikay? : Thank you, Alan. "make amends"? 7th & a good few bob was not so dusty, & 190+ players would have gladly swapped with you! I had my eye on you from 3 or 4 tables out, & I thought you played just great, nobody could quite work you out, & it was a very fine effort. As to Thewy, Sky Poker are very lucky indeed to have him, he loves the SPT weekends, & is the perfect Ambassador for us, a proper decent bloke. In the last 9 months alone, he has taken down the £1,000 entry Monte Carlo, the Coventry GUKPT, & now an SPT. He must get "lucky" a lot, eh?.....;) Not sure if I'll be in Brighton or Glasgow yet, but hopefully I'll see you again soon, & next time it may be you that I present with the Comedy Cheque! Hi Liam.
I'll go wherever I am asked to, (assuming I am asked, you never know!), be it Glasgow or Brighton, it is not for me to make life difficult for the suits, whatever they ask, I'll go along with.
In practical terms, however, it is more likely that I will be tasked to do the Brighton event. Ideally, Rich Milner & I need to do one each, as do Blandy & Tighty. The geography of that suggests that Mr Milner will be in Glasgow (he lives in York) & as I am currently residing in London, I will do Brighton. I am not sure at this stage how Tighty & Blandy will divvi up their day.
HI TKAY WHEN ARE THE VEGAS SAT S STARTING Posted by F-B-I
Hi Fed,
It has not been confirmed, but it is likely to be - I hope - March. If that is the case, there will be three monthly Finals, being March, April, & May.
The original "Viva Las Vegas" is the likely format, but they MIGHT do a "Viva Las Vegas Lite", too, it is still to be decided.
In Response to Re: Ask Tikay? : A man after my own heart, regardless of how fascinating, how bad a beat or how thoroughly nice a person posts a hand history I am immediately struck with that thousand yard stare. Sir, put simply, will you marry me?
Truly, I am a poker geek by any standards. My life has revolved around poker for well over a decade, on both sides of the Table, as a player, and as a Commentator, TV Analyst, Event Host, part owner & very active Member of a very prominent Poker Forum, APAT chairman, SPT "Host", & general dogs body, & poker is my living, it's how I earn my wages.
I am fascinated by the absolute beauty of the game, the people in it, the characters, how people handle the swings, the stories, the incredible people I have met through poker, & the Countries it has taken me to, & I think I have cashed in Festival Events in 9 or 10 different countries. If I ever had the time, I'd love to write a book - in fact I have enough material to write several - about poker, & the people & adventures I have encountered along the way.
I have almost certainly commentated on more Live Poker Finals than anyone, I have definitely analysed more hands on TV than anyone I can think of, and I've played in plenty of Finals, maybe 400 or more "Live" Finals, & thousands of Online Finals. All of which I have loved.
So, it's fair to say, I love almost everything about poker. Except those Hand Histories. Unless I am specifically asked to comment upon one, I swear to God I have never willingly read a Hand History in my life, & I never will. I really don't see the point in all those lines after lines of irrelevant info they contain, 95% of which is not relevant to the hand. A poker hand can - imo - be better explained in normal writing.
In fact, I have never even looked at one of my own Hand Histories - ever, not once.
If Sky Poker - who have been absolutely wonderful to me, & to whom I am eternally grateful for putting up with me, ever said "OK, your job is now to read Hand Histories", I would snap quit. Just like that.
Just like to say thankyou to the sky poker team for a fantastic SPT Luton. I came 6th in the tournie and realy enjoyed playing the event and the Final table. Julian Thew is a fantastic player and also a real Gent. Also congratulations to 1972 amazing comeback although i think he will admit he got a tad lucky lol. Didnt think i could do much more on final table and was very happy with my own play. All of this still came second to be interviewed by the gorgeous Anna Fowler though. I am sad to say i will not be attending any more SPT events this year as am moving to Thailand for a year to teach but i will be playing online. I look forward to playing the events in the future though. Tim Sutton Posted by puffyt1
Hi Tim,
Thank you for those kind words.
You were, iirc, Seat 2, yes? Toughest seat on the Table, with Thewy lurking behind you, with position, & Skippy to your right (Seat 10), nicking the "spots".
And yes, Anna is just lovely, what you see is what you get with Anna, she has no "edge" or attitude, one of THE nicest people you could ever wish to meet.
Thewy? What can I day? He is a hero of mine, for his demeanour & attitude, & one of my closest friends in life, & has been since the day we both began playing Live Poker. I am so proud of him, & pleased that we have ended up together at Sky Poker. What a lovely way to end my career, whenever that may be, working alongside Thewy.
You are a teacher - in what subject, if I may ask?
Do enjoy Thailand, & have a safe journey, & hopefully, I'll see you on another SPT Final Table when you return.
Tony, i take great satisfaction in you saying i was hard to work out.... Thanks......i work hard on trying to mix up, but as you know better than most, timing is a massive factor.. Regards Posted by corlis38
Too right - timing is everything, & that's where the luck most lays. We make moves with airballs time after time, they are routine, & we soon forget them, but we remember it when we make those moves & run smack-bang into monsters. The fascination of the game, win or lose, eh?
Tony, quite agree......I played a 7-5 suited diamonds, hit a flush when 2D hit river which paired the board & the other lad hit his house......Next time im dealt 7-5 suited i be more cautious!!.......lol

Yup - that was Shaun 1972, I believe?
Bit of a cruel river, that! Odd thing is, if he misses his house, the lot probably still goes in, & you get the lot, instead of him. He had a set of Tens, I believe.
Tiber....that knock out hurt me & i was felling down for a good 24hrs after......lol......i do everything from the heart & wanted to win BIG time......who didn't?? I was trying to represent the straight, if i remember there was three cards to broadway on the board aswell as hoping to hit my diamond.....
Sorry for all the bother, I have checked the hand again and Macka is right I must have folded the hand ,How embarassing , Thank you for your patients.I can now officialy be classed as a doddering silly old fool lol. Just so that you know not for one momment do I think that there was or is any wrong doing in online poker. Great site, granny bash Myra Dobson Posted by grannybash
No worries, Myra, we have all done it, anyone who says otherwise is telling porkies, & I'm glad it has been resolved.

Hi TK,
I love everything about poker INCLUDING the HH. Well maybe excepting cash! I know everyone has their own views on here (which is one reason I like it) but as a newbie I've found the clinic and the HH's posted there extremely helpful in my learning process. I also try and review hands I may have played badly and to do that I need to look at my HH. NOT disagreeing with your view BTW just pointing out that I (and probably others) find them useful. pad - run good.
Hi Grannybash, Pretty much as Tikay says - not a good idea putting an email address on the boards due to those nasty spambots that do the tours on open forums. I've deleted your post from the thread - Tikay has quoted it in the post above so I hope that's okay! Take care. Posted by Sky_Dave
in your opinion in the modern game is there still a place for the solid abc player who multitables, plays tight and bets for value with premium hands.
this is the style iv been playing lately combinde with carefull able selection (only picking tables with at least 2 or 3 players who are shorting) i seem to be doing ok.
do you think this strategy can be sustained over a distance.
Hi TK, i tried to satellite into Brighton, had a monster & walked into yet another bigger monster.....lol So tonight i had a go at the satellite for up in Glasgow & i was one of the four who got through. I must admit down south would have suited me better, but hey if its a good a atmosphere as Luton last week i be in for another good fun day... Only thing that worries me is the Scotch are renowned for being tight & i may well have a right job on my hands trying to get them to part with their chips......lol......only joking!
How come theres seems to be dif sort of hands come out depending on what game you play Posted by SQUIRTE152
Morning Mr Squeezy.
Not sure what you mean, can you elaborate?
For different games - I assume you mean Omaha - the same sort of cards appear, but they are used, & valued, differently. A-K in Hold Em is a big hand, in Omaha it's not much use. Same cards, different meaning.
could you throw any light onto the HiLo starting stack changes situation. This change has not gone down well with regular players. The previous format worked perfectly well, so if it aint broke, why fix it?

As it happens, no, Craig, sorry, it's news to me.
I was not aware of it, but most things are done with good reason, & I'm sure this was, too.
Personally, I thought 2,000 chips was a bit much for a split pot gasme, as they tend to go on too long to to all the "splits pots".
We were having some mess about fun at a Live Event once, & it was £100 for a SNG, but the game got a bit silly, with everyone shoving, & it was costing £100 every 10 minutes. So I changed the game to Omaha Hi-Lo, & it lasted for three hours!

This is not a popular change, and is discouraging players from playing. If there are valid reasons, then maybe the powers that be could let us know. As far as i am aware, this change was not announced, nor were any regular players consulted. Granted the games do run longer than normal DYMs and tournies, but as far as I am concerned, this was part of their attraction.

Not often I disagree with you Tikay, but I do here !
We are in a completely different situation, and are trying to attract people to the game. Lowering the starting stack will prevent new players from learning the game. It reduces the skill factor and discourages proper play.
The £100 gtd tournament at 8.25 usually attracts 20/25 runners and lasts for just over 2 hours. Personally I think this is about right, but I have had feedback from a few players requesting a SLOWER structure.
Yes, it may seem odd to those upstairs that the daytime £1.10 tournys can also last a couple of hours, but if this change remains we will lose the majority of the players, mostly people who just really enjoy the game.
As for hilo DYMs, in my experience they are not taking any longer to complete than their holdem equivalents. EDIT: Seems it was an admin error and is now sorted. Be good to see you at 8.25 one night when you are free !

There you go, everyone was assuming the worst of Sky Poker, just for a change. If they had reported the problem to Customer Care in the first place, I'm, pretty sure it would have been corrected immediately. There's a moral there somewhere.
Apologies, of course, for the glitch.
I may try & join you tonight, my hands have been full with other stuff lately, & I've been a little tired in the evenings, but if I get home in time, yes, I'll play.
sky Jordan has cleared up the issue of the disappearing 500 chips. I like Tony would like to see more players playing the Hi Lo, and this is building gradually. Is there any plans for lower level buy ins for DYMs, as this I believe would help encourage more players.

Mr Tikay,
Flattered as I am by your kind offer I am afraid I have tried that route in life and 2 maintainance bills and several children later I have finally decided its not the route for me. Having said that it was a fun ride. I will therefore politely refuse, perhaps it is better we stay kindred spirits and not tarnish a beautiful start to our relationship by becoming a couple and in several years look longingly across the breakfast table wondering how we could kill one another and get away with it, ahhh such fond memories

Obviously, I ran outrageously good, & yes, I really enjoyed it.
When we got heads up, the other chap said "you don't pass many hands, you surprised me there, I had you down wrong".
I passed very few hands when we got H-U, why would I?
But early doors, I mostly sat out, & if I did enter a pot, usually when I was on the button, with 3 limpers already, I just potted it, & everyone would fold. I doubt I played 10 hands before we made the Final. I did run rather good, though.
Guess I owe you a drink, now!
If I am around, & not too tired, I'll try & join it again this evening.
