why's this site so poo.every time your in a tourney why does chip leader always hit no matter wat to cards they have.is it fixed or some thing......... Posted by scottmac
Hi Scott,
I don't really know the answer to your question, just luck, or variance, I suppose, but congrats on being chip leader. Did you go on to win the Tourney?
I think, no in fact I know i saw the Worst call I have ever seen Live or Online in my days playing this game!!!!!....Was on £2 bounty hunter tounament ( doing ok ) . To my right was seated a gent with around 3k ( on the button ) who went all in ...seated bottom corner out of position was the table chip leader with around 8k..who CALLED with and I couldnt beleive it when revealed he had 7 4 OFF SUIT....the original raiser had QQ!!! flop K 10 6 all diff suits....TURN 7....and then UNBLEIVABLY river 4!!! Now that is in my mind the worst call ever to land the luckiest last 2 cards that I have ever seen!!! Its this type of calling and luck that will never ever in a million be beaten....Decent players gettin bad beats like that....and so early with blinds at 50/100 to cal 3k with that is THE WORST CALL EVER....Be happy with replies to see what others think..
Hi Tikay Would be very grateful if you could give me some possible explanations for the following:
Started playing at Sky back in 2008 as a novice and bumped along the bottom for first 500 or so games, losing about $500 playing low stakes SNG's and MTTs. Finally figured out how to play properly and over the course of the next 350 tourneys went from being -$300 to +$600. Similar experience playing at other sites and everything seemed to be going fine.
Then something changed, although I have no idea what, since I didn't change my style of play or the sort of tourneys I was playing in. My sharkscope graph embarked on a steep decline taking me from +$600 to +$50 over the course of 250 tourneys. The only time it seemed like I could win was in D2Ns where the other players knocked each other out. If I ever went all in on a coin toss I would lose without fail.
I think you have to agree that if we are talking about 100's of tourneys variance is not really a creditable explanation. I am a tight aggressive player and definitely haven't changed my game. So either something has changed radically in how other people play, making my style somehow unprofitable, or else someone at Sky has put the hoodoo on me.
I would like to analyse my hand histories to see if I am winning the correct proportion of all-ins but that doesn't seem to be possible since Sky do not provide this information in a format I can use. So right now my only option seems to be to quit playing at Sky and only use sites and live games where I do make a profit.
I play poker for fun, when you get a hand then hit the flop, get someone call you, you play good poker and manage to get there chips, they then rebuy again and again, Only to end up on the bubble as the blinds rise. The person who you managed to get there chips actually ends up coming in the money seems unfair, which was the main reason i stopped playing poker on a few other online sites and put my balance into sky. I'm now down to my last few quid and unfortunately even though i enjoy playing in the evenings, especially the well structured TOT and deep stack tourneys, won't be refilling my balance...
If you could let me know why sky has started rebuy's and add-ons i'd be greatful.
Regards the charity poke event I PM you about its Sat 3rd Oct, 50 seats! Dont seem to be able to PM you direct at the moment, please could you get back as promised.

Hi Wayne.
One of us is confused, probably me - - do you mean Saturday 2nd Octobr, or Sunday 3rd October?
If - IF - I am not working for 865 that night (be it the Saturday OR the Sunday) I will 100% come up to Halifax & join the fun, & bring a few freebies with me.
I am working Saturdays in September, so, if Attila "rotates us" (or I get canned, you never know....) I MAY have Saturdays off in October (rota not issued yet).
All I can say is that if I am not on 865 duty that night, I WILL come up to Halifax to help support this fine cause.
I don't expect the October Rota's to be issued for a few weeks yet though - I only got my September Rota last week, due to all the changes.
"Atiila" If you see the above post give the man a night off, it really is a great cause and just by tikay being there will make it a much better ngiht for everyone involved

Hi Pete
I know Liversedge so only 10 mins away if you want more details PM me and will give you the venue details, its a charity event so more fun than pressure is the plan.
Is it common practice that the more experianced players become the more unlucky they become ?. I'm becoming more and more chaved by some players making crazy plays and calls and hitting un-believable cards to take down pots. I've prayed to the poker gods many many times but i believe there very busy at the best of times. Please help and pray on my behalf. Or maybe you could install a happy slap button to ensure bad call abusers recieve a slap around the ear every time they play insulting cards !! YIPPEE !!
hey tikay i recently just had a bad beat i had ace king diamonds he had jacks. i hit two aces and he hits his jack on the river. the chips where put in pre flop could i avoided this. it was in a free roll tournament just before the hour break. could i avoided it?
tikay what do you think about a folded player stating he had a king when there are 2 kings on the flop with 3 players still playing and raising? pointed out to him i thought it was a bit naughty but got abuse.

Hi Mover, I can answer this, if you don't mind.
This player was/is bang out of order, if you are not involved in a hand you should NEVER comment on a hand in play. What this player has done, in my opinion, should result in a penalty of some sort as they ARE influencing the way the hand could be played. It restricts some aspects of the hand, ie if someone was trying to bluff the hand. I'm not sure how it would be handled live but they should have kept their mouth shut and allowed the hand to play out.

Hi FLASH
I dont feel this is a bad beat, you were behind to a slight favourite, and, the best hand held up, imo, AK is only A high, so only a drawing hand, whether you could have got from it?, its hard to say without knowing what the table was like, what the blinds were and what position were you in the hand.

Hi
Unfortunately, it is something we all go through, it is called varience, I wish I could tell you how it starts, it just does, it also ends, when it is ready, the only thing I can say is, it does even itself out eventualy, if you keep getting your chips in ahead, you will start winning again, please pass these players onto me

Thank you for your input. Really appreciate it. I was also amazed how everybody else on the table did not agree with my complaints at the time. Infact they found it quite funny. Think the site is great. Used to play on full tilt but in 6 months i dont think i ever played against the same opponents twice. Like the interaction with the tv channel even though i got slated on the 8k for calling an allin. As much as it annoyed me i would not like to name the culprit but would hope he reads this forum topic and learns that it isnt the way to act. thanks mover

Dont be surprised if you get a friend request from Mr Miyagi.........all the flies he could catch with all them.
one important bit of advice which can help all newcomers? Posted by KaiQom
Hi KaiQom
Welcome to sky Poker, and the forum, Good bankroll management, a lot of players will use the 5% rule, where they will not use any more than 5% of there bankroll for playing cash, or Single Table tournaments, or I will not use anymore than 3% for Multi tale tournaments, and never be afraid to drop down levels.

I don't really know the answer to your question, just luck, or variance, I suppose, but congrats on being chip leader. Did you go on to win the Tourney?

Any chance that you can help me out by recommending a book or two that you think are good for improving play in Omaha cash?
Thanks in advance and hope you take down the Poker Awards.
