I've played awful today and hapilly contributed £6 to your roll. Thankfully i've just had a good bink on the £400gtd timed to counteract todays awful play at the DYMs!

    DAY  89
    sat  28/7/12

had a good nights sleep & time to reflect on things,
decided that there is only 1 way to look at things, that being that 1 mini loss isn't the end of the world.
i guess losses are inevitable playing dym's as there is just no way anyone can win every session regardless of how good they think they are or how well they think they might be playing.
this game we love/hate at times is designed to give every player a fair chance of winning,
i have tried analysing this game & my play in particular, not to any great lengths admittedly,& i am still none the wiser.
the rng which controls the cards dealt is a brilliant device,it ensures that each hand & therefore each game we play is interesting/entertaining & yes laughable at times too,but never dull.

i have also been looking back at 'how i've been doing'?

started way back on may 1st with £40.71
                            on june 1st b/r  £108.31
                             on july 1st  b/r  £198.11
                             on july 28th b/r  £368.59

    so to conclude;
                         not to shabby is it?
(works out to winning £2.35 per day or  £3.70 per day inc. c4p)
a slight improvement on the £1 a day that i was previously on.   lol

got to accept that losses will happen.
try & look at the 'big picture' & not each days result.

    that's all for now....

sure i'll be back for some more fun at the wonky races later.!!  lol

    thanks Pat,
got a bit of a downswing coming up in a mo,
but like you say it's only money i've built up from £40,so no worries.
i could carry on playing it safe & slowly building it up by i figure "what the hell"
like i did tonight playing £5 level.
had a gamble ...and lost £83.65
    funny really,or maybe ironic i guess,lost at £3 last night & won at £5
so i figured lets give £5's another go tonight.
    "that's poker i guess"
    best wishes m8,

    DAY  89
    sat  28/7/12

    lost  £83.65

    b/roll £284.94 (+£244.23)

    c4p  385
    total 3888 = £54.43 to come.

played £5 tonight,as i won playing there last night.
    always going 2b a risk i know,but i've no regrets.
going to have to drop back to £3 level AGAIN... lol

this challenge certainly is now becoming the 'roller coaster' ride that i always thought it would be,
now that i am trying to move up through the levels.
i am finding it difficult trying to find 'the right path' atm.
i think i will now have to accept defeat to the £5 level, for the time being anyway & concentrate again playing just £3's.
i said that this mission would be 'a mind game more than anything' when i first began & so it is is proving 2b the case.
i am also "not going to make any more predictions"regarding hitting targets,as that too is just going to make me look silly when i don't make them.
Rancid was right saying that they will come when they come.
    anyway,
sunday tomorrow or "bingo day" as i've called it,so will probably have the day off as i have done for the last 2 weeks.
as i've already said,i've no regrets,as i know i still should be able to recover tonights loss over the next week or so.
i'm down....again, but far from out.
    thanks for reading,
    over & out.
    :)

Hey Dev, I've just realised you live in the same town as me; Exmouth.

We'll have to go out for a beer one day and drown our poker sorrows!

Sorry to read about your latest downswing, keep your cool, it'll come back again.
  • edited July 2012

as you know dev its swings and roundabouts with poker but your dropping back down when you do have a bad run which is the best way to do it until it goes back your way again which i think you and i both know that will happen once again. Just think of it like this - your not losing because your way way in profit from when you started so its all free money your playing with and not your cash that your losing with. You got that money from other players so your just giving a small perscentage back untl you get it from someone else :)

    played tight,only played 4 hands i think,
    can't find imfo atm,
    from memory,66 99 aq(spades +1 other.)
ok so i won them all...but they all went in as best hands pre-flop & post flop
also made the best use of time bar by dwelling to the end every single hand
as i felt this would help being a timed tournament.
have you played any of these Daz?

Will you be playing these timed tournaments regularly? I've often wondered if they're beatable so it'll be interesting to see how you get on if you do.

I've only tried a few and quickly formed the opinion they were 'run good competitions' with little skill required, particularly the 15 minute games.

    hi Gary,
    my brother Mark(snugs1963)plays them,he only plays the 30 mins,like u doesn't like the 15's.
but he seems to do ok he won £70+w/end.
    so i thought i'd try a few.
tbh yes think u do need to run well & probably win a flip or 2 but that's no diferent to a dym imo.
will play the odd 1 here & there & see how it goes.
early days but so far so good
i'll post each result as i play them.

    part 2....

    lost £1.60

    b/roll £310.20 (+£269.49)

    c4p   145
    total  4036 = £64.58 to come

played £3 again + 2x£5  lost both on the bubble, so stopped playing them.(had my sensible head on tonight....
    for a change.)  lol

    months summary;
                              won £112 .09 from play(inc june c4p £72.85) so all things taken into account,not to bad 5 out of 10 i'd say.
very up & down, going to have to try & keep things under control a little better during August.
happy making 4000 c4p again, which all helps when it arrives.
hopefully will try playing £3.30 games only during August, but i know i am going 2b tempted to try the £5's again so i am really going to have to resist, which i know i won't find easy.
will continue playing some more 30 mins timed mtt's,A because you can get a good return for your money
    & B makes a change from dym.
(i am £24.76 up from the 2 games played,so i will now be able to play another 7 games for free & see how things stand after that.)

    that's it,
another month over, they seem to fly by don't they.
good luck to everyone for August,i hope you all have fun & manage to make a few pounds along the way.

    best wishes,
