Agreed.
I mentioned in another thread that I need to reign that in.
Bit of an emotional time with one thing or another, not just the stuff I've written about here.
Cheaper than a shrink, putting down my thoughts in here!

Oh dear, this will be a real letdown then.
Firstly, heard of Dead Kennedy's but never heard anything from them.
My music is also pretty eclectic in truth.
In my car we have Beethoven, followed by Belinda Carlisle, followed by The Doors. Morrisey just before Mozart and Happy Mondays before Haydn.
There was no in-joke by the way. It was just Dohhhh being super sharp.
With regard to other composers, I haven't really heard a great deal in truth. I think it's the same for most of us. Our tastes in music, politics etc are initially shaped by our parents.
The three mentioned were my Dads favourite composers and so they were the ones I listened to as well. There was a little bit of Handel and Tchaikovsky that we listened to as well. The Messiah and 1812 Overture are fabulous.
A bit surprised he didn't listen to Strauss as obviously it was the romantic composers he preferred and Strauss just fits in there.

pretty eclectic, but I think the Dead Kennedys might just be out of your range. California Über Alles was their first single. You can catch the lyrics here (or watch a live recording but more difficult to hear the lyrics!)
last football game i saw in the UK was Leeds vs ?, and may have been before you were born. but then we fell in love with Barcelona - the City & everything to do with it, and that included the football team. so whereas for the majority of my life i have been non-football, i am now just non-UK football, or more specifically non-English football

Barcelona is amazing
Been there just the once, about 5 years ago.
Did the standard touristy things
Park Guell, Sagrada Familia, las ramblas
In all truth though, the tour of the Nou Camp was the highlight for me.
Really want to see an actual game there. Looked into it a few times but one thing or another has got in the way of me going.
Number 1 on my sporting bucket list, is to see the Mighty Rams take on Barca in the Champions League final on their patch, in a couple of years or so.
Topically, the Boxing Day test match in Melbourne is number 2

"They said I could use anything, so I used cannons"
Day off tomorrow, all nighter watching the cricket. So I may as well continue.
Started on William Hill on Crypto.
I was so naive regarding online that I played way way too high. The way I reasoned it at the time was that if I was playing 50/1 or 1/2 in the casino then I should obviously play similarly online. So multitabling $1/2 it was. It was a lot easier at that time and with the amazing Rakeback deals and additional bonuses to boot, I got a pretty a decent bankroll. Had a 2nd place in a $20 rebuy as well for $1500 which us still my best online win.
I worked my way round the crypto skins whor1ng the sign up bonuses and then moving to the next site. First found double or nothing games on there as well. Loved crypto, and then it was gone.
Moved on to Full Tilt and played a lot of the 90man sng's on there. Did ok on there, made around $2500 in tourneys and played a fair bit of rush poker. When it was shut down I got lucky. Only had a couple of hundred dollars in there.
After that, not sure why now, I stopped playing online altogether until i started on Sky more less exactly 2 years ago.
I really liked something Rob Yong wrote about when he first opened DTD.
He made the point that so many poker players were successful at the game but often left the casinos as losers because of leaks with roulette and blackjack.
He had the full casino license but chose not to put in any gaming tables. I was disappointed when they were introduced a little bit down the line but understood the reasons for doing it. He has already ploughed fortunes into the place and with recession I think it's highly unlikely he would have been able to justify keeping the place open without bringing in blackjack and roulette.
I remember, he also said that he, like me, had fallen foul of the no late reg rules at casinos in the past . He, however, unlike me, was able to do something about it. Open his own club!
So many things which are now seen as standard, are a direct result of DTD. They introduced things like re-entries and had many fantastic ideas.
I played in the first week it was open and finalled a £75 which also had Paul Jackson on the final table. A little bit of confusion when seating us! It was one of those annoying final tables where only 6 got paid out of the 8. One Paul Jackson cashed. I'll leave you to guess which one.
I used to play a reasonable amount of cash there as well but it was tougher than in the casinos. When Genting opened up in Derby, I started playing there and don't really go back to DTD much at the moment.
A couple of years ago I signed up to Sky. Not sure why,but so pleased I did. Great community and some great people that I've met at the SPTs. I've run way better than I have deserved over my time on here. With me not playing again this month, this will be my first losing month since I started on here. I'm pretty proud of that and it's taking all my discipline to stop myself playing again this month to try and maintain that record .
good morning paul I see you were talking about accumulators the other day well it will come asno surprise to you that I have a tell to tell many years when I was working some people will argue that point lol I did a £1 10 team acca 2 from each section from local bookies corbetts and lo and behold I got it up for £575 so miracles do happen will tell you the full tale next time we meet
Well Showing remarkable discipline as ever I have played briefly tonight as well as last night. So much for the plan.
Saw all the fuss about the new tables and thought i'd have a bash at multitabling them. Played a bit of cash on them before and wasn't overly keen tbh. Just played 6 Dyms at a time each night and in all fairness, they were fine. Tiling was good and hopefully will soon get used to them.
It's a bit odd that prior to the new tables, people were supposedly leaving SKY due to the 'lolbad' software. Now they're supposedly leaving due to the new 'lolbad' software. Never gonna keep everyone happy I guess.
Only played a mix of £3's and £5's but a nice little confidence booster to win 11 out of 12.
Also played the £2 speed rebuy. Going along nicely and then decided to bluff the river against the only player on the table without a fold button. He'd called out of the small with 96 and flopped the 6 on J J 6. he checked called and then did the same on the Q turn. Ace on the river, he checks and I shove. He calls it off. Think, on it's own it's decent but against this player it's really bad.
.... Annual leave next week. Will be playing live a couple of nights. Guess it will either get me out of the small hole I've dug this month or bury me. Good luck me
two things: 1. this diary is boss. please keep the stories coming 2 if you try to type the word 'forest' into a chat box it comes out as ' ****'. did you have anything to do with this? Posted by TeddyBloat
Cheers Teddy
1 - I love the word "boss" that you use. I've found myself using it in general conversation.
I think I should look down the avenue of "short" stories. I often look back at posts and think "no ones going to read that huge wall of text" so thank you for having the stamina and patience to get through it all.
2 - nothing to do with me. I think it's just that that word is understandably unpalatable to many. Industry standard, I believe
Just to warn you. If you put the word "Nottingham" in front of it, instant chat ban. Never ever tap in "Billy Davies". Account gets frozen immediately.
...
I'm hopeless at heads up. I want to get better though. Be good to play few games sometimes if you promise not to laugh at me. Let me know
I wouldn't class myself as anything other than basically competent at husng's; any profit I've shown at heads up is largely due to the population of the low stakes being worse than I am. Youre a dym head so you understand shoving and calling ranges. I reckon any competent player who is aggressive and understands nash and shoving tactics would doat least as well or better than me lol. But yeah im always up for playing good players as I learn tonnes from them.
It is worth practicing them for when you get to the final 2 of a tournament. ive only ever reached the final 2 three times, but its always given me confidence knowing ive been in that spot 1000+ times before.. The first tournie I won was against someone I had a block of detailed notes on from hypers. He couldnt remember playing me, and the final hand I wouldn't have won without those notes.
I might play a session later today if you are around.
I want tikay to use the word boss when he's next on 861. Come on tikay, do it for the kids....
Serious question What do you do when anything short of an all in will get at least 3 callers? I know that standard advice would be to really nit it up but... Examples Ak in small when there are 4 limpers 7's on button with 2 limpers Aj in cut off with 4 limpers Not really liking flatting with any of them just hoping to smash a flop. However. .. Posted by Jac35
i think they key is finding the other players pain threshold (the amount they think is too much to call with weaker holdings)... live is different to online. so instead of 4x after a limper, you might want to make it 6x, then if that doesn work, try 7x etc etc. narrow your limp isolating range as you raise bigger.
whn I play live cash, my standard open is 6x for this very reason, with 1 limper i keep it at 6x then increase with every other limper...
AK - raise big... maybe 11x or something.
77 - either flat (and set mine) or raise big
AJ - raise big - maybe 9x (smaller becasue you have position)

Thanks Chickn
These hands were actually from the comp, so it was pretty awkward.
Cash wise. I totally agree. What we do live in these situations should be quite different to online.
One hand from last night kind of illustrates that. I'm in the small blind with KK and the straddle is on. There were 4 limpers and I made it 21. Had little doubt that I'd get a caller and so it proved. Caller was playing £45! and so put half his stack in pre with KQ. Players in small cash games live are generally far less aware.

yeah, even in a live tourney with players like that I would be raising much bigger than normal with my big hands... Its high varience, but the odds will be stacked in your favour.
In Response to Re: Ramblings of an 'old' man : Just surfaced Not quite sure what I posted. Get the feeling that 'delete' was probably a good decision Posted by Jac35
you just eloquently informed us of some juicy pots you won. couldn't tell you had been drinking or that there was someone you didn't like on the table
Groan! Yes, there was a player that I'm not particulary fond of at the table and I did have a couple of drinks. Surprised you could tell There was one hand that I'd like opinions on. I raise UTG with AK clubs to £7 my afore mentioned friend who is a pretty decent player flats UTG+1 he's effective stack approx £400 1 other caller Flop KQ9 two diamonds I bet £15 he deliberates and raises to £35 I have a little think and decide to pass. As I've had a drink, I stupidly muck face up. Begins a big debate on how horrendous my pass was. At the moment, I'm still happy with it. I can think of very few turn cards I like. I also know that he will barrell both turn and river. To me there were better spots at the table and I was hardly committed to the pot. If he's semi bluffing a draw or just on total air, good luck to him Thoughts? Posted by Jac35
and you made this laydown whilst bladdered?? blimey.
OOP, i think its probably a good fold, but depends on how agro the guy is.
