Just my opinion, but I think this forum may well be going the way of many others. There seem to be far fewer posts nowadays? It's maybe just an inevitable thing with so many other avenues for people to chat now. Fault could possibly be looked at from both sides.  We as players tend to form our own groups and talk there instead. I'm guilty of this myself. Maybe people are shy of writing on a forum and prefer to do it amongst people they know. Maybe we don't welcome new posters as much as we should do. For a long time I've said that the forum is way too messy. Look at all the tabs on the left hand side. Julian Thews blog for example. He left a long time ago. 4 strategy tabs. The redundant ones should just be taken away and the clinics should just be consolidated into one place. I think Sky are very good but the community is an embarrassment in many ways. Things should be kept up to date. We've all said how poor the software is. It's so far behind the times. These are some of my thoughts. What can be done to be done to improve things in your opinion? Or maybe I'm wrong and it's just fine as it is? Maybe it's just natural that things come and go and most don't really care whether we have a forum or not now? Personally I think it would be a shame if it died. Use it or lose it, as they say.

Would help if Sky didn't forum ban people for nothing, to reinstate them, then ban them again ;)

Much to agree with there Paul. Don't want to say too much, but I'm trying to address many of those matters.

It's a 2 way street, though, players have an equal role to play, & THEY have to do their bit as well. A thread went up yesterday announcing the League Winners, altogether, with the 2nd chance Freeroll qualifiers, some £10,000 to £15,000 worth of prizes were announced. It got exactly ONE reply, & that does not really count, as it was from me.

If I were to run a Free to Enter Forum Fun Comp tomorrow, it's get 100+ entrants of course. And I can, but there has to be some sort of payback via increased Business &/or Community interest. I can't see much evidence of the latter really.

It would certainly be a shame to lose it, but I'm not aware of any plans by The Business to close it, I'm pleased to say, but both parties need to contribute.

A better welcome to Members? Yup, make them feel welcome here, encourage them to post more. I try to reply to all new posters, but not many do bar the usual handful.

An interesting topic, overall. We can't force players to post or interact here. Social-Media, FaceBook, Twitter & so on are changing the way we interact, & most forums are in decline. We could make this one the exception though, but it needs 2 to tango.

Many players of course use it as a "complaints" Forum, which is why all other "tied" Forums have closed, as the Forums were being used as a stick to beat the site with.

I'm not saying it is ALL the players fault, far from it. I think my views on the Forum Software are fairly well known, both amongst the players, & The Business.

Anyway, a good post, & yes, the post count has certainly dropped since Easter UKOPS. We had a real nice atmo on here during Easter UKOPS, & the Daily UKOPS reviews were well-received. Deffo been a little flat since then, though. Partly my fault, I accept, as I usually "seed" the Community, but I'm up against it with one thing & another right now.

We shall see. Together we can do it.

What an era for film the 90's was. A decade bookended by Goodfellas and American Beauty, with Shawshank Redemption, Usual Suspects, Fight Club, Pulp Fiction, Fargo, Casino, Reservoir Dogs, Unforgiven, Trainspotting, Leon, Big Lebowski, Seven, Silence Of The Lambs, Boogie Nights and LA Confidential (and probably many more I can't think of the top of my head) in between.

Sadly for me, I was too young in the 90s to see all these down the cinema. No issues for you in that respect.

I remember being young once, summers were long, music was good, children behaved, beer was cheap, I had time to do the things I wanted rather than just work and I won the occasional flip at poker. Oh how things have changed. Make the most of being young, it's vastly underrated.

You make a very good point Paul, and as mentioned above Thank goodness you keep the flag flying in respect of posting interesting stuff, I'm as guilty as the next man to be honest, I like to think in my early blog gage I kept things interesting and tried to " mix things" up a bit, nowadays I'm either too tired or just feel I haven't owt worth reading to say.

Having said that I can ramble with the best of them, I should make the effort really as I have a lot to thank members of the forum for,as without them and of course my family I don't really know how I would have coped in the early days .

    Enough about me though.

How to get folk using the forum more? Bring back post of the week/month, although your good self and hhry are pretty much shoe-ins for the 2 of maybe 6 on the table, I would suggest a sky poker hoodie as 1st prize, reckon you may have one but if you are anything like I am it won't fit by the time they bring back that scenario, and if h has got one...well enough said :)

Nothing like a bit of online abuse to boost the post count.

I'm big enough and sexy enough to take it though. Water off a ducks back.

Stuarty could start a diary thread about all his timed tourney wins

Hhy could do a culinary blog about best takeaways

I am sure I can think of more.

I think I know where we're going wrong at last

To my knowledge, no one on here buys llamas or does pottery.

Possibly the most read and popular diary on another forum has much talk about these things.

    Anyone own a llama?

No but I own a couple of rams. A source of continual disappointment to me; they are useless.

Good post this. I still enjoy the forum and check/read it daily. I'd miss it if it wasn't here. Yours is one of several threads that I'm pleased to see when there has been an update yet I don't help to keep it ticking along by contributing anywhere near often enough. Why? Am I able to type? (y), Articulate? (y, well almost), interested in the subject's? (y), Selfish and lazy?(yyyyyy).
I can't be the only one. I think us readers/non-posters are going to have to up our post counts and support those of you who put yourselves out there and allow us a little peek into your lives. I may just pop in randomly and tell you about my day, it'll be good for the insomniacs.

Todays offering...got up, made scrambled eggs on toast, consumed same. Showered, dressed, drove to golf club, met 2 pals. Spent 9 holes bemoaning endless groups of elderly lady golfers for ridiculously slow play( golf should seldom take longer than 1 3/4 hours per 9 should it? Even thats leisurely.), hacked it round. Cheered up when they all quit after 9. Hacked it round a little quicker on back 9. Consumed 2 pints and a buttie sat in sunshine. Drove home, sat out back in more sunshine(that was summer.). Went inside, turned computer on. Played several DYMs, some featuring a plump Yorkshireman. Lost a few quid. Typed this. Chicken Madras for tea in a minute. Mrs Spank out at Netball practice tonight and I can't face Arsenal/West Brom so gonna enter a few tourneys and probably win the Main later on. Probably watch an episode of Daredevil after unless its really late. Rock and Roll Baby, live fast, die young and all that.

Man, they're all gonna be begging for more along those lines.

Back on topic, you are right about the links on the left. Lots of redundant ones need removing and a few of the others could be condensed into one. The clinic used to get a lot more posts before the strat tabs appeared. No mention of our Ambassador and his musings anywhere yet theres still a link to Thewy's blogs even though he's no longer sponsored and actually back doing a proper job. A little tidy up is all it needs.

Timmy will be back off his jollies and posting soon, that'll help yourself and TK keep the forum ticking over.
Now if we can just tempt Dev and Lambo back into action.......

Diary of a Spanker is definitely needed.

    Good post
I think a few bits need addressing.

    Poached eggs?
Sigh, Eggs Benedict only in here please

    Hacking
That's fine. That's what I do.  Disappointed  not to not hear of any screaming at the ladies to play you through or rants about they shouldn't be allowed on the course in the first place. It may be frowned upon slightly but whacking a few drives when they're not quite out of range usually does the trick.

    Dyms and fat people
Please try to refrain from beating said Yorkshiremans QQ with A8 in future. Yes, I've heard all about it.

    Chicken Madras?
Madras good, chicken not so much. Lamb or Beef

    Dev
You're right. He could well be the saviour of The Sky forum. Someone mentioned Top of the Posts in an earlier post. Think Dev played it a record number of times.

    R.I.P Prince

    Bonafide genius or overrated?
    Somewhere in between for me.
Purple Rain and Sign O The Times are pure classic albums. The rest of it just kind of washed over me. Insipid almost.
I'm showing my age here, you two do remember him don't you?

Not my cup of tea but can appreciate he was quite the superstar.

I dread the day, however many years down the line, that my musical heroes from my formative years start popping their clogs. In theory it should be a while away, but 2016 has been brutal so far for celeb deaths so you just never know.
