Rather sadly, "WHAT CAN YOU DO?" has disappeared. Shame, it was a fun thread. I've asked Upstairs, but we can't seem to establish who removed it.

It did turn into a bit of a giggle, but it seems the OP is now banned so their thread automatically goes too.

"WHAT CAN YOU DO?". Another one to add to the list :)

    £30 rebuy at Derby tonight
Bust pretty horribly when I made a flush on turn and we got it all in. He rivered the full house. Just short of the money
Cash then went well. Sat with £200 in the 50/1 and worked my way up to £300 and then got into a big pot.
Think it's just a cold deck probably for my opponent. By the river I think I'm beating pretty much one hand only.

There's a raise to 8 pre and a call, button makes it 26 and I find KK in the bb. I raise to 64.

2 get out of the way and button flats
    Flop
    J 8 4

I lead for 43 and he makes it 100

I shove and he tank calls

    Turn 10
    River A

I thougt that maybe he'd tanked with AJ and I'm ready to cry
    He shows QQ :)

Nice profit on night. Home with £325 profit on night including drinks.
And believe me I me very drunk ;)

Played last night and it was a bit rubbish.
Didn't play well at all. Got very lucky early on in single rebuy where I totally butchered a hand to double up but that was about it.
Came 12th in the mini, just losing a standard flip there.
One hand in the £22bh was frustrating but as the saying goes over the long run I should make money from it.
There's a limp from a 1700 stack at 50-100. Short stack shoves 895 and I flat with aces. Limper flats and shoves on J 9 x.
    He has J 9 ;)

This dieting thing is catching. Go on holiday end of June and I don't want to be the fat Dad.
I don't know how much it will help but I'll try the cutting out of lattes altogether. Have 2/3 a day on average. Seems to be working for Tikay.
Need to stop eating rubbish at 11 at night as well.
Will be biking to work from now as well and so that should help.
Also now the weather is a bit better I'll be playing golf again 2 or 3 times a week.
So, I'll start from tomorrow April 1st and see what I can do in just under 3 months.

Apologies if anyone chatted to me last night. Was 10 tabling after 9pm and so couldn't really talk.
Not a great night. Built a great stack in the main and then didn't win a single hand for an hour despite having some pretty useful cards. Made a ridiculous bluff in the end which quite rightly got snapped.
Played a bunch of dyms and as often seems to be the case when I put volume in, it didn't go well.
Happy enough with how I played. Just didn't flip well and had the sort of thing that can happen when stacks get shallow and blinds high
Losing with JJ v K8 and QQ v A7 etc
There was one peculiar hand where it was one of them where you just scratch your head. At 25/50 I had AKss in the bb. 3 limpers and I went to raise. I got in a muddle as I was playing so many tables and clicked to raise too much. I then thought that I might as well make it the lot, 2000.
Absolutely snap called by one player. He had....8 5
£22 Dym! What goes through their heads? :)

Decided to try and win with 4 cards instead and played a couple of those funny little games that people rave about. Don't really know the rules but somehow won both. Think I bust an old wizard in one of them, so that was ok.

I can almost picture the Dym regs rubbing their hands together when they read this. Just me and the boy for the weekend and so I plan on going again tonight.

On the bright side, made 1020 points last night so this month I might actually play a bit and make priority.
    ...
Played toss but won at golf yesterday
    ...
Hopefully the mighty Rams can get a result today.
    ...
Wife has gone for a Tucson in the end. Seems quite nice

First quarter update time and check against new year goals

Be a good Dad - Think that's working out ok (had to miss first few overs of the cricket today as we had to see the end of Paw Patrol

Be happy - hmmm, mostly i think

Post less and be positive - posting a bit less and i think it's mostly positive

Get my handicap back to 7 - N/A as yet. A few good rounds so far gives me hope

Watch Derby in the Premier League - Er, we'll move on to the next goal i think

Make Priority at least 6 times - Made it in Jan but not Feb or March. 2497 points so far this month sets me up well

Play Dyms for 95% of my online poker - Fail. Had a really good start to the year at mtts and i've played a lot more than previous years. Unsuccessfully recently

Have a £10k year - On track i'm pleased to say. £1390 up online (£90 missing on scope from freerolls). Live has been great. Played 3 comps and had a 2nd and a chop for 1st with me getting a very good deal. Won £330 at cash last time out as well and so i'm up £1295 at Derby Genting. This includes taking off my considerable expenses at the bar as well. Just under £600 in rakeback and affiliate bonuses as well.
So, overall i'm up just shy of £3300 for the year to date.

Very happy with that particulary as the last few weeks online haven't been great.

I've played a little tonight. Lost my first 5 games and so when i sneaked into profit, all £19 of it 60 minutes later, i deregged everything and booked the win Dev style.

    .....

Watched the last hour of the Vegas sat last night.
Maxally was very unlucky sadly when he bust. Then it was down to Rose to get a forum favourite there. I really felt for her. I was in exactly the same position last year and it feels horrible. Hopefully she can get in that position again soon and get over the line.
Some pretty vile chatbox stuff as well sadly. One of the cuprits is a regular Dym player and is exactly the same in those games. Noticed they were still chatting away tonight. Hopefully the ban will come when staff from Sky are back at work tomorrow.

I'm too old for this shiit
Got up at 6.30 yesterday morning and went to bed at 5.30 this morning. I do not want to be awake at the moment but most considerably I have been woken up as it's a nice day.

Went down to London for the games show with my nephew . He absolutely loved it. He managed to get a go on the VR thing and that was epic. We were at Tobacco Dock and so when he'd seen enough we walked to Tower Bridge. It was a really enjoyable walk. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice everything was and even more surprised at how quiet it was just a short distance from the bridge. We checked out some of the prices of apartments and decided we'll maybe leave buying one just for now.

I rarely go to London and had forgotten quite how bad the traffic can be. 90 minutes to get back to the M1 from the centre was a bit rubbish.

George provided some good moments. We saw a sign for a cloakroom and he declared that he definitely wanted to go there. He really really wanted a cloak. I looked at him thinking he was joking. He wasn't. He was just a little embarrassed when I explained that cloakrooms don't generally sell cloaks. He called himself the stupidest but after a while decided that selling cloaks is going to be his job when he grows up. As he said "who doesn't wasn't to own a cloak?"

He also somehow managed to grope a passing lady when he pointed at something on Tower Bridge.

He was delighted when I informed his mother of these two incidents.

Eventually we arrived home and then it was off to meet the chubby maestro at the Casino...

Jon was seeing some bands in Derby with a mate of his. We met up in the casino at about 11.15 and sat down to play some cash.

It was good fun. Usual live stuff of limp limp and then calling a £12 raise. I was lucky and ran really well at then end to win £180. A pot where I had a set of 9s and a lady misread her hand and called on the river with 10 high for a £320 pot helped quite a bit.

Jon ran badly and lost a big pot with aces v kings aipf when the King came on the river.

I may give him a little bit of grief occasionally but he is  a very nice bloke really. He didn't let it bother him. He chatted. A lot. The table loved him and it was a good laugh. One thing though, He does have the really annoying habit that many do from his area and tells everyone that he's from Yorkshire every 2 minutes.

It was great to see him again and we definitely drunk too much. As usual he totally outplayed me in every pot we played. I think he's pretty good at the game and he just needs to have more belief in himself as a player.

We eventually left at 5am and right now my head hurts.
Got to do some chores now as someone doesn't give a shiit  that I have a hangover and expects that floor to be mopped. Marv

Meant to be going to play the rebuy tonight as I'm off work for a week. Not sure I'll make it.

Very kind words Jackson, when would you like the bank transfer?

Don't recall even mentioning that I'm from York, no need to lie on the forum.

Off work this week and I've got lots to do.
Sunday was a struggle. Didn't feel good at all. No idea why. Things changed a bit for Mrs J car wise and we went back to Audi. She had a drive in the Q3 and loved it. Put an order in and she should have it in a few weeks. Seeing as I do most of the driving im pretty happy that she chose it.
Played a bit of poker Sunday night and lost a few quid. Palace bust me in the single rebuy in a cooler when when we were 1 and 2/40. Happy for him that he went on to get second place.
Watched th golf after that and it was one of he best masters for a few years. Really like Willet and thougt he was fantastic. The chip at 17 was stunning.

Played golf yesterday and was hopeless. Playing with my best mate on Thursday and Friday. He hits it so far and I always stupidly try and keep up with him. Doing 36 each day.

Looking forward to the football tonight and on Thursday. I seem to be alone here but I always support any English team in Europe. If it was Forest playing then I'd be hoping they won. Just think it's good for our league when our sides do well.

Harry has to have one of everything in each hand. He had one biscuit yesterday. Demanded another one. Nephew gave him another and he just grabbed it. Keen for his manners to be good his Grandma said "what do you say Harry?"
"I've got two" was his reply.

I'm with you on that one.

I'd like to think it's because I am patrioic, but maybe it's just the sadness of being a small club fan and latching on to someone else's success? First getting in football in the 70s I tired of Liverpool winning the league and cockney reds celebrating in the playground, but loved to watch them win in Europe and then to see Forrest and even Villa (remember them) continue the domination was brilliant.

The bigger clubs usually can't face seeing their rivals do well. However when Italy have 4 teams in the CL and we drop to 3 they might finally get the point that it is good for our teams to do well in Europe.

PS Nice maths and logic skills from Harry

It's a very strange world that poker players live in.

I played some live cash last week. I was put all in on the turn by a player. There was an unlikely straight possible and I had a set. Simple call.
Let's change it to exactly the same thing but when the player bets, the dealer says to me
"It's on you sir. That'll be a weeks wages to call. Simple call now?
Of course it should be but it may have caused me to take a little longer.

Chips are every clever. Chucking a few ponies into the middle doesn't seem to tough. Bit different with real cash. You used to be able to play with cash and chips at casinos. Not seen that for a long time. Wonder if you can still do that anywhere?

Online is much the same I think. I'll click a few buttons and reg for £200 worth of dyms without a seconds thought. Handing over the money to do it could feel different.

We have to ignore it all or we'd go mad.

It's so easy to lose the value of money when we play and it's clear that plenty of people play with money that they can't afford to lose which is sad.

I hesitated slightly at paying £60 yesterday for some new shoes and a pair of slippers for Harry. It was no problem just 'flicking it in' for the main and £22bh and a stack of dyms though.
    ...
I had a little chatbox exchange with someone last night. A Dym reg. He asked why it was that retards get lucky so often. I said that his comment made him look a little short on intelligence. He asked why. I said that if he needed me to tell him the answer to that then I was most definitely correct.
    ...
Cashed in the £22 last night which was nice. Been a while :)

That sort of thing is very odd, Paul, poker players do seem to think in very unusual ways when it comes to money.

I can barely believe that in 2016, in such enlightened times, anyone would use the term "retar d" in that context. I thought those days had long gone. Guess they need to get a life, or meet a parent who has a child with learning difficulties, then they'd see the pain such a term, loosely bandied about at a poker table, causes.

Personally, I'd snap ban anyone who said that at a poker table, no hesitation.

I have to admit this is exactly how I look at things too. I have no problem paying a weeks wages to reg my Sunday night schedule but if the wife wants me to spend a weeks wages on something "we need" for the house then that's a different matter and obviously I have to give it serious consideration.

I was recently playing live, where every player at the table thought it was a scandal that one of the players was charged €1.50 to have a pizza delivered by a young lad who braved atrocious weather, yet they tip the dealer €2 nearly every pot they win. Poker players definitely have a strange outlook when it comes to money.

    That's it, exactly the disconnect.

At DTD, players complain they have to pay £1.80 for a cup of tea, not an unreasonable gripe, I'd say. Then they go sit at a cash Table, & happily pay the straddle every hand.

    Go figure.

Most of us know someone who has some degree of learning skills or disability, some of us have suffered it ourselves. And that's exactly why those people who use that word in a poker context are dreadful, odious & obnoxious individuals. They should hang their head in shame, every one of them.

They don't mean it, of course. They are just not bright enough to express themselves properly, or nice enough to care at the hurt they cause.

Just my opinion, but I think this forum may well be going the way of many others. There seem to be far fewer posts nowadays?

It's maybe just an inevitable thing with so many other avenues for people to chat now. Fault could possibly be looked at from both sides.

We as players tend to form our own groups and talk there instead. I'm guilty of this myself. Maybe people are shy of writing on a forum and prefer to do it amongst people they know. Maybe we don't welcome new posters as much as we should do.

For a long time I've said that the forum is way too messy. Look at all the tabs on the left hand side. Julian Thews blog for example. He left a long time ago. 4 strategy tabs. The redundant ones should just be taken away and the clinics should just be consolidated into one place.
I think Sky are very good but the community is an embarrassment in many ways. Things should be kept up to date. We've all said how poor the software is. It's so far behind the times.

These are some of my thoughts. What can be done to be done to improve things in your opinion? Or maybe I'm wrong and it's just fine as it is? Maybe it's just natural that things come and go and most don't really care whether we have a forum or not now?

Personally I think it would be a shame if it died. Use it or lose it, as they say.
