Monday and Tuesday i decided to have a break as i had a late night with Sundays 3K MTT.
now that i won't be getting so stressed over cash losses i decided to try just 1 £750 BH (£5.75) MTT and unlike the start of January this time i had no other tables running at the time unless it was freerolls. things got off to a good start and i managed to triple my stack. i was on course for a good finish but then came trouble right before the bubble when my stack got halved with AKs calling a short stack who had A3o and it beat me.
then a few hands later i was faced with a horrible jamming spot with 1010

if someone with JJ has decided to just do a call with the hand. why would they jam with a hand that is not beating my 1010 i might have called but when i look back at that JJ hand it has so many similarities to JJ. A. a short stack he could be trapping pre, B. a limper who had a larger stack that him who could cost him his tourney. C. also he has better position noe than he did with JJ which is even more of an advantage

being knockout like this can be annoying but i didn't let that have any effect on me as i just know for future MTT that if this player is going to jam then I'm folding because i want wider ranges to jam not just the biggest pair.
99% of the time I would be doing my jam all it was with this player is if he is taking so big a risk here why would he not do it with JJ both had a Bounty on offer.
it's sort of like when the short stacks will limp fold even with just 7BB, if you see him deciding to jam their is a good chance of him having Ax or a pair.
still overall it was a profit won from the heads and my skill in MTT's as a whole have improved massively now I just need to avoid going into too many.
I had 1 nl10 cash table to finish my day but it seemed to be a very nitty one and so lost £1.41 but i did only have one table.
the other poker site i use normally is 888 poker and they seem to be filled with donks so while here I'm thinking what they might call me with on the other one i just stick to simple ABC poker.
my experience on Thursday has got me thinking if i have managed to make up the BI then i should just do a direct buy in rather than waste it in sats, if i were to not have made won enough money to do a direct buy in the i will avoid it altogether. Thursday i started my day off with 2 nl10 tables and they got me £30.08 profit so i decided to do sats and time and time again was getting nowhere weather they were all in or semi, so overall i caused a massive drop.
so having missed out on getting into the main i went into the mini and my stack was acting like a yoyo with it having a decent stack one minute then a poor one the next.
so while my BR was still over £200 i went for one last MTT the £3K BH for a BI of £11 and for the second time running i had made it to the final table and this time finished 2nd

as I've been discovering in recent weeks, once we get to the late stages of MTT people are playing so much tighter some don't even risk 5BB

i did have an hour on MS tables too and then got me winnings of £10.96
tey wasn't much poker in the last week and as my english was a very weak subject i decided to just leave my diary quiet.
my return today wasn't the best of returns and given how poor some of my play was in the MTTs and master cash i think i will be taking another week off.
the transfer window is probably distracting me too much at the minute and if that's not enough i also might have malaware and it can sometime make me wonder if my money is safe.
the day as a whole saw mastercash tables lost -£11.33
after the master cash session i next went in some MTT first i went into the LR semi (7.20) and was able to get into the main event from it but didn't manage to pass the bubble so went out with just 2 head prizes totaling £26.02 and as i was in the main i went into the mini for the jackpot chance but i got nowhere.
so as it wasn't even 9:30 and i did leave with a profit of £18.82 from the main i used that in the 3K BH and things were going well in that and really i have no one but myself to blame as it was all down to a bad call and not paying attention to his earier hand.
having seen him fold this river my thought right away was he is chasing something

the hand that cost me my life in the main event was not as easy a fold as that and on the turn probably had no choice. but what i was thinking after is weather or not i should be calling such a big size bet on the flop.
tonight my session was dominated with cash alone and as my BR was over £500 before the session i decided to load 4 nl 5p/10p MC tables then added a 5th one an hour later and switch to a differant master cash after that.
the outcome overall was a very good one and managed to get me a total profit of £49.66.
i am beginning to pay more attention to my betting one the turn and river when i my hand stength is over pair at best especially when i am against the passive villians because if they are going to only ever call with hands such as 1 pair or flush/straight draws i might as well give them the odds to call those draws and TP WK because their range is just too wide and also i will not allow them who have monster hands like this one did try catch me out
the diary has been quiet in recent days because i've been staying up very late in the evening and my grammer is very weak so it can take longer than usual when typing how i do on that day.
today didn't get off to the best of starts with a lot me having to reload to my full stack on regular occurances. once sky TV was showing master cash things started to change to more looser tables and got me more value from hands. in my first hour and a half i had 11 hands overall which saw losses over £1 and a lot of cooldowns i did have some good hands too but when i'm getting big losses then things will not help the bankroll increase. unlike the first hour the losses in the second hour were a lot less and overall i have 6 losses over £1 and unlike the first hour in the second hour the highest loss was just £2.80. overall the tables were £6.31 £3.68 £5.31 £14.82 £8.09 and -£6.05. so overall today i've won £32.16.

Interesting that the tables loosen when the matercash segment is going to be shown, good spot.
today i chose to enter into the 12KBH main event and it was a tale of 2 halfs. the first hour of the MTT was a very good hour and i got a very lucky river card when i called a jam on a board with low card held QQ and needed the set which came, as the opponent had KK, the table itself consisted of lots of min raisers and limpers and unfortunely for KJs it lost to my 72o.
the problems arrived in the second hour when i was moved off the passive table onto an extra aggressive table the thing with this table was it had players with low stacks />40BB still doing 3xBB preflop and unlike the min raise with 3bets their it was leaving me with no choice other than to fold or jam. i did get one head prize but poker was overall just not my day. so my BR is down today at £583.04
I was on poker until 2am yesterday so this update relates to the friday night session which was a tale of 2 halfs. First i went into the orford league and that MTT was never going my way and i finished 76th/128 but really you could count my number winning pots on 1 hand. i did enter the main and the mini and they didn't go well for me either in the main it was AA and QQ which lost me my chips both opponents were short stackers at the time, i did manage to get atleast 1 head prize of £11.25 so used that as an entry into the 3K BH but that too was not going well either, finally i saw a cheap 1K BH for £5.50 so tried that and it too got me nowhere so overall i lost -£45.42 from MTT.
having seen bad times in MTT i decided to take a shot at cash knowing they will be looser than normal and my cash tables were just what i needed sets were coming at the right time jin cards too and the fit or fold villians were missing, instead these tables had calling stations and loose aggressive. So overall the cash tables were £8.54 ms £4.75 £32.14 £5.46 -£5.39 -£11.46 nl10 for a total of £34.04
the nits over run the tables today so i called hands that i would normally be expecting to only be done by total air
here i thought he must have AK and even if he did have a pair i am sure to still have outs yet he has got AA, well next time he can just take the cheap pot

Craig mate i dont understand your thinking one bit in this hand
At first you say "the nits were all over the tables today" so you def know the type of player that your up against here and then you flat his/her 4 bet out of position trying to hit a flop what you like (which imo v this type of reg is only a flop of 10jq cos even a A or K high flop could have you beat here).
Then when you miss the flop you call an extra 100 big blind shove with ace high v the very sort of player you should NEVER be doing this against. Also the way in which the hand was played against you this player obvi thinks that you will never fold an overpair so you need to address this part of your game imo.
You did everything right up to the point where you made the 3 bet and should be binning the hand the very second you get 4 bet from a player like this and there is even a case for just folding pre v players like this and just giving up 1 big blind because if you hit and they dont then you get no action in anycase and the only time you get action from them is when they have you crushed.
Try to focus more on taking on the weaker players and the ones you know will call you down light and just steer clear of the good regs or the tight nits (especially when out of position) and your BR will grow alot faster.
Just remember that poker is all situation and player dependant and what might be a monster hand v one player could be a fold v another.
Ive played you a couple of times and have never seen you basically waste a stack the way you did here so im guessing that you might have been tilted, tired or both to have done it
You BR is still plenty big enough so youve got no worries there and in future if you start feeling tilted or tired etc and feel as if your starting to pay off the type of players you should never be giving action to then just leave the tables mate and come back when your feeling ok again.
nits are everywhere at the minute so i'm thinking of starting to just keep my bet sizing weak on the flop and only slightly larger on the turn because then if i see folds like this one being made, then i can sense that this villian doesn't want to dare bluff

all i want to do really is for now i want to be able to know who are fish who are calling stations and who are fit or fold.
the luck i've had this friday is astonishing i was constantly being saved by sets. the day was an MTT day itself with me first doing 3 sats for the main and after failing twice the 3rd time i got lucky and so qualified for the main event, also i decided to do the 1K BH (£5.75) but didn't get anywhere in that and the same with the mini too, the poker gods decided to award me the luck in the main event and orford league and i managed to finish 6th in the orford league but best of all i finished 3rd in the main event

at the end of all this my bankroll has broke the £1K mark and is £1,035.64
thanks those who followed me through the main. what would you say about my action post flop?
i wasn't bothered about that KK, i would say it's the last piece of the jigsaw really, i shown weakness OTT in a hand which had 2 queens and clubs on flop and this guy had the flush draw but didn't take the chance to steal the pot either on turn or river, he was doing various opening bet sizes preflop, the way he played AK looked to me like the way a bad player plays it and then when he jams his trip 7's i've seen enough and know for sure that this guy varys bet sizes on how strong his hand is.
As my BR is over 1K i get the feeling that NL2p/4p is history and now the lowest stake table is nl5p/10p or nl10p/20p.
when i was on nl4 notes were hardly used at all, it mostly was just a simple description of the type of play ie TAG LAG, now that i'm on nl10p/20p i'm going to be starting to be more detailed as the hand range of people i'm thinking will vary much more and also the aggression post flop will be more varied.
My poker overall is going to be more of a mixed site approach where i will have 4-6 tables but 3 will be from 888 poker and 1-3 will be from sky. the tables that i will be most focused on is the sky poker, the 888 poker tables i'll be taking advantage of the HUDs and time bank.
tonight i t played on 3 cash tables 2 were nl10 and 1 was nl20, i only had about 1 and 1/2 hours and tomorrow afternoon i will be doing the analsis of the hand history itself. the table outcomes were £2.42 nl20 £1.37 nl10 £5.70 nl10.
Great stuff Craig, some really good results recently. Good luck at the new levels. Just remember, everyone just has 2 cards like you, everyone isn't going to be a sicko and 3 barrelling air loads etc. Just focus on assigning people ranges and have a good reason for why the decision you make is better than all the other options you could take and you can't go wrong
Hadn't been on here in a while good to see you have a 1k roll Craig hopefully will be the start of a monster roll and climbing the stakes, seems ages ago now i was sweating you at 4nl! gl just be patient, don't tilt and you will make load of profit at cash.
tonight i was on 3 cash table 1 nl10 and 2 nl20 the nl10 got 71p profit but the 2 nl20 lost £48.71 overall. i did have some heavy losses on them and have posted a few hands up onto the clinic to see if i could have avoided as much.
their was a few good hands too which i got a bit puuzled with
for instance the villian of this hand says to me nice river as though he thinks i'm chasing and ace
Comments
now that i won't be getting so stressed over cash losses i decided to try just 1 £750 BH (£5.75) MTT and unlike the start of January this time i had no other tables running at the time unless it was freerolls.
things got off to a good start and i managed to triple my stack. i was on course for a good finish but then came trouble right before the bubble when my stack got halved with AKs calling a short stack who had A3o and it beat me.
then a few hands later i was faced with a horrible jamming spot with 1010
why would they jam with a hand that is not beating my 1010 i might have called but when i look back at that JJ hand it has so many similarities to JJ.
A. a short stack he could be trapping pre,
B. a limper who had a larger stack that him who could cost him his tourney.
C. also he has better position noe than he did with JJ which is even more of an advantage
Craig just because you ran in to AA doesn't mean you made a bad call.
Never fold TT in this spot with 7 big blinds left, it would be a big mistake. TT is more than enough to get your stack in.
Congratulations on the good result on Sunday.
99% of the time I would be doing my jam all it was with this player is if he is taking so big a risk here why would he not do it with JJ both had a Bounty on offer.
it's sort of like when the short stacks will limp fold even with just 7BB, if you see him deciding to jam their is a good chance of him having Ax or a pair.
still overall it was a profit won from the heads and my skill in MTT's as a whole have improved massively now I just need to avoid going into too many.
the other poker site i use normally is 888 poker and they seem to be filled with donks so while here I'm thinking what they might call me with on the other one i just stick to simple ABC poker.
my experience on Thursday has got me thinking if i have managed to make up the BI then i should just do a direct buy in rather than waste it in sats, if i were to not have made won enough money to do a direct buy in the i will avoid it altogether. Thursday i started my day off with 2 nl10 tables and they got me £30.08 profit so i decided to do sats and time and time again was getting nowhere weather they were all in or semi, so overall i caused a massive drop.
so having missed out on getting into the main i went into the mini and my stack was acting like a yoyo with it having a decent stack one minute then a poor one the next.
so while my BR was still over £200 i went for one last MTT the £3K BH for a BI of £11 and for the second time running i had made it to the final table and this time finished 2nd
so my BR now stands at £548.48
my return today wasn't the best of returns and given how poor some of my play was in the MTTs and master cash i think i will be taking another week off.
the transfer window is probably distracting me too much at the minute and if that's not enough i also might have malaware and it can sometime make me wonder if my money is safe.
the day as a whole saw mastercash tables lost -£11.33
after the master cash session i next went in some MTT first i went into the LR semi (7.20) and was able to get into the main event from it but didn't manage to pass the bubble so went out with just 2 head prizes totaling £26.02 and as i was in the main i went into the mini for the jackpot chance but i got nowhere.
so as it wasn't even 9:30 and i did leave with a profit of £18.82 from the main i used that in the 3K BH and things were going well in that and really i have no one but myself to blame as it was all down to a bad call and not paying attention to his earier hand.
having seen him fold this river my thought right away was he is chasing something
the outcome overall was a very good one and managed to get me a total profit of £49.66.
i am beginning to pay more attention to my betting one the turn and river when i my hand stength is over pair at best especially when i am against the passive villians because if they are going to only ever call with hands such as 1 pair or flush/straight draws i might as well give them the odds to call those draws and TP WK because their range is just too wide and also i will not allow them who have monster hands like this one did try catch me out
today didn't get off to the best of starts with a lot me having to reload to my full stack on regular occurances.
once sky TV was showing master cash things started to change to more looser tables and got me more value from hands.
in my first hour and a half i had 11 hands overall which saw losses over £1 and a lot of cooldowns i did have some good hands too but when i'm getting big losses then things will not help the bankroll increase.
unlike the first hour the losses in the second hour were a lot less and overall i have 6 losses over £1 and unlike the first hour in the second hour the highest loss was just £2.80.
overall the tables were £6.31 £3.68 £5.31 £14.82 £8.09 and -£6.05. so overall today i've won £32.16.
the first hour of the MTT was a very good hour and i got a very lucky river card when i called a jam on a board with low card held QQ and needed the set which came, as the opponent had KK, the table itself consisted of lots of min raisers and limpers and unfortunely for KJs it lost to my 72o.
the problems arrived in the second hour when i was moved off the passive table onto an extra aggressive table the thing with this table was it had players with low stacks />40BB still doing 3xBB preflop and unlike the min raise with 3bets their it was leaving me with no choice other than to fold or jam.
i did get one head prize but poker was overall just not my day.
so my BR is down today at £583.04
First i went into the orford league and that MTT was never going my way and i finished 76th/128 but really you could count my number winning pots on 1 hand. i did enter the main and the mini and they didn't go well for me either in the main it was AA and QQ which lost me my chips both opponents were short stackers at the time, i did manage to get atleast 1 head prize of £11.25 so used that as an entry into the 3K BH but that too was not going well either, finally i saw a cheap 1K BH for £5.50 so tried that and it too got me nowhere so overall i lost -£45.42 from MTT.
having seen bad times in MTT i decided to take a shot at cash knowing they will be looser than normal and my cash tables were just what i needed sets were coming at the right time jin cards too and the fit or fold villians were missing, instead these tables had calling stations and loose aggressive.
So overall the cash tables were £8.54 ms £4.75 £32.14 £5.46 -£5.39 -£11.46 nl10 for a total of £34.04
my BR was down by £11.38 so is currently £571.66
here i thought he must have AK and even if he did have a pair i am sure to still have outs yet he has got AA, well next time he can just take the cheap pot
Theres always another day
Best of luck
Kev
thanks those who followed me through the main.
what would you say about my action post flop?
Well done Craig, pleased to see you being rewarded for sticking at it!
Wouldn't worry too much about your exit hand, don't expect anyone to jam a 7 there. Easy call for you.
