Started well this afternoon... was about £100 up... then lost it... Went out and saw some mates and decided il come back and start afresh. Things went from bad to worse. There was a guy on my table who was super aggro and kept hitting everything and kept stacking me on 20nl with rubbish. I was getting a bit tilted but knew if i continued to play id eventually get it back.
So i waited for a big hand... and this happened:

Played a bit longer and hit a few nice spots towards the end of the session... and ended up decent enough profit - especially as i was about £100 down at one point.
Just been reading your top ten tips for betting, great read, just wanted to pick your brains as, I have a keen interest in sports betting and have over the last few months grown a bankroll to be able to keep a regular interest in a lot of different markets I. E football, cricket, golf , rugby league etc, in fact I pretty much will look for the value in any market, however I do not fully understand "Asian handicap" , your post has gone someway to explaining it and from what I can see it looks like if you can find value anywhere it should be on this market in particular. Couple of questions.
1) do all bookies offer Asian handicap?
2) is it available on different markets or just football?
3) Should I be checking the market before placing a normal bet?
Thanks for your help and no doubt if you don't mind I'll bother u again?

Hi omm,
Nice to know ypu liked the betting guide. Hopefully this helps.
1) No, not all bookies offer it. Sky are one of the ones that tend to avoid the asian handicap markets. You should be looking at another bookie that works 365 days of the year (:P) 2) Yes I believe they are available on different sports. Tennis springs to mind, NFL, Basketball, Rugby amongst others. Its all about predicting how much a team will win by which can be applied across most sports. 3) Yes, without a shadow of a doubt. There tends to be so much value in the Asian Handicap market. For instance if you think Chelsea are going to win... Rather than placing an outright bet on Chelsea, you can choose them at AH-1. This way if they win by only one goal you get your stake back... if they win by more then you get significantly better odds. I do however feel there is so much more value in the +AH market. For instance last night I had a bet on M'Gladbach AH+3 against Bayern at 1.65 which came in as Bayern only won 3-1.
Dont hesitate to get in touch if you have an other questions
Brighton, blackpool and watford was my conservative treble. Brighton let me down after leading at home
Forrest, qpr and Brimingham in my 15/1 treble. Predicted decent wins for forrest and Birmingham however qpr couldnt make their pressure count and only drew 1-1. So close.
Went out this evening, but it wasnt a late one. Got back in time to late reg for the 11pm. Managed to get to the final table.
Then this happened as I was sat in second. I was tempted to dry shove and pick up like 10k (although aces would have called)... but i did the old trick - going broke in a limped pot. Doesnt stop it being uber sick.

Bit annoyed with that. Difference between £40 and £160 odd... but hey ho. Dont think I did much wrong... went in as ridiculous favourite... oh well.
Played some cash on a forum game. Managed to walk away with £34 from 4nl which is some achievement. Ran very well (sorry Larson), but that was quite fun. Got a good rail from Geldy in the 11pm so thanks for that.
On a sidenote... milestone reached - £1000 profit since beginning of diary. Pleased with that considering my embarrassing start. Bring on UKOPS.

Ignore this. Lost quite a bit on cash.
I was £200 up at one point... then I wasnt.
Dont really want to talk about it at the minute. Need to start rebuilding what I lost. Im such a knob.
If someone could explain this play from villain that'd be great. I hadn't stepped out of line once in two hours. I had solely played PP, AK and decent suited connectors all night (hes seen me get to showdown on a number of occassions with prem hands. The one hand I kind of step out of line this happens.

1) I can kind of understand the 3 bet (ish) even though its a very small pair and really he doesnt want to be inflating the pot. 2) Why the hell does he call the 4 bet from that stack with such a weak hand? 3) Why does he jam that flop with such a rubbish hand knowing I am pot committed and have to call with pretty much any two random cards - does he just like a gamble?? 4) Why does mr bigshot leave the table straight after the hand? - this irritates me most. He's a sky reg and he's cut and run like a complete tool. I debated leaving his name in put i suppose I'd get more grief than him.
Ive taken such an aggressive line how can he think hes ahead? As I said - Ive been playing a very tight game and had only 4 bet once pre with Queens. Im so confused why he shoved?? Please tell me I did nothing wrong against a guy who loved to 3 bet any hand....
he has done the same to me too - although actually that time i was playing very loose and he had a FH - so maybe a little different!
best suggestion I can come up with is he was leaving anyway and decided to to take a swing at it on the last hand. anyways, there is your starter for ten - see if anyone can come up with something better.

Oops. That was accidental. Should I just be shoving the flop or is the result still the same?
Anyway, im going to play tonights main and mini (my favourite main of the week). Depending on how that goes I might play tomorrows main (second favourite main of the week) - after which I will be taking a short break from poker (a week to a month) because at this rate, playing cash, im going to go broke pretty fast. As a MTT player I just cant stand up when im in profit at the table. Over the last 3 days I have sat on cash tables and have been £250 up, £130 up and £95 up... and on each occassion I find myself loosening up, playing more aggressively (MTT habit) and walking into the nuts time and time again.
I dont really do BR management. I dont step down stakes straight away. In that respect im an awful poker player and will hold my hands up to that. Best thing for me to do (after tonight) is to step back, recover and start afresh... if that takes 5 days or 5 weeks its not an issue. I don't want to be spewing money all over the place.
The irritating thing is that I really do feel I can make some real money on cash. It seems like everytime I play I always go +0.5 to +1 buy ins initially. Then I alter my game and lose it. Just need to cut out these errors... but I know im making these errrors which i think is the important thing.
Don't worry im not broke or anything - just think its heading that way. My head isn't in the right place and everything is telling me to take a break. After tonight of course...
But why worry about playing cash? If you want to become a cash player then sure, but move down the stakes and grind away until you are comfortable you have learnt the new skills, which includes BRM. If not then just play it more occasionally, and be more relaxed about whether you are winning or losing in the session.
I much prefer mtts to cash. I could never be a cash-table grinder. However I know I have to play some cash to develop my skills needed to play better mtts. It can also be fun to play occasionally, especially against forum regs or as a TommyD style TV w.h.o.r.e (his words, not mine).
So I played NL200 Mastercash on the show last night. I was prepared to lose a buy-in for my learning/fun experience. But I was definitely not going to treat it as scared money. Let´s play some hands appropriately and see where it leads. As it was last night I made money, but I can guarantee at that level if I played it regularly at Sky I would probably be a big donor.
So re-evaluate why you are playing cash, and then when you play know why you are playing and what that means for buy-in etc etc.
waller02 is rediscovering his mtt-mojo after having his poker brains knocked out at cash. try not to relive the whole of his experience!

Wise words Geldy and definitely something to consider.
Turns out I shall not be winning the jackpot tonight... as im out. So just tomorrows main and mini - then break regardless of what happens (even if I do win it).

You're saying he loved to 3bet any hand but you do not know if he is 3bet folding or 3/bet calling or 3/bet GII, that's the real question and your plan for each occurrence.

I guess its something to note and remember for my dynamic with this player.
I put him on air on the flop to be perfectly honest. hands like KQs, AQs,AKs,A10s and weak pocket pairs that got overly aggressive. I must admit the 3 bet flat left me completely confused as to where I was in the hand. He was either holding AA-1010 or had missed entirely. I chose the latter due to his 3 bet nature and was just so surprised when he commited 70 extra quid with a pair of 5s after a 4 bet after missing his set on the flop. He must have had me on complete air... which to me makes no sense as I was playing very tight throughout the session. Maybe he folds if i shove the flop. Dont know if he thinks my 1/2 bet was a sign of weakness... but he must of known that I couldnt really fold after putting all that money in.
Thought the whole hand was very strange and left me a bit mift, especially as he got up and left straight away - that did irritate me even though I know he has every right to leave. Just seemed a bit of a cheap shot.
Sorry to see you have lost a bit on the cash tables mate. Agree with geldy, jumping in at the deep end on the cash tables can be dangerous (however I'm not sure how much cash experience you have). I'm sure you will rebuild any losses playing mtt's though. All the best
Missed the main and mini tonight as I was out with a mate watching the England game - good game as it happens.
Got back in time to see Tommy take some of the jackpot money - very well done to him.
Played a few MTTs... the one I got going in, I was coolered with 11 left (6 paid). Standard stuff so wasnt too upset... but as there wasn't any other tournies I decided to play a bit of cash.... even though I told myself to stay away.
I played mastercash 50nl.
Master Cash 9
£124.44
£124.44
Sat down with 50 quid instead of the full 100. I was happy to play with 50 and see where it got me. If i lost it... meh - it could have been 100.
I changed my game A LOT in this session. Won't tell you exactly what I did as thats giving too much away of my style
Hands of note:
This one was just a gift... couldnt believe my luck when he flipped the cards over.

Made a mistake in this hand... probably the only mistake of the session. I thought maybe he'd seen my bet as uber weak rather than value (thought he had KK), and tried to bluff me off it... nope.. just the nut FH. Although he definitely could have gotten a lot more off me if he had bet all 3 streets.

So the main and mini it is tomorrow and possibly a meander into cash for a while... then a short break from poker to clear my mind. Pleased how I ended today though.
First ever Royal Flush deserves a mention. Only took a year to get one... and I flopped it! Very nice. Too bad oppo didnt have any hand he could call me with. Had to try and get some value from the nuts despite the temptation to check it down!
Bad day today poker wise. Couldnt do anything in any MTTs and just threw money away on cash like no tomorrow. I was tired about 2 hours ago, but thought id open up another table as clearly one wasnt stimulating enough. Well that was a mistake.
Variance has really kicked me in the nuts, hit me in the face and sh$t all over me this week. I can't seem to win any hand thats worth any decent money on cash (see poker clinic) and somehow im running even worse in tournaments.
All my confidence is gone and dont get me started on my BR.
Crushed by the poker gods this week. And pretty upset about it all really. I don't think ive done many things poorly over the week. Of course theres a couple of mistakes here and there, but ive run so so so bad - like nothing thats happened to me before. Genuinely don't know what to do. I'd love to play the UKOPs but i dont see it happening. Definitely think I need a long extended break. I'll probably come back and play in the freeroll thing at the end of the month but i dont see much poker happening otherwise in the near future.
Sorry to hear you're on the wrong end. Just have a look a few posts up though where you have QQ vs 55 oppo hits set then you run out to the straight! It's all ok if we can deal with it mentally and not allow the downswing to make us make mistakes. You're a good player. Take a break and get your confidence back.
Not much to say, it is a swingy game and no matter the level of skill there is always that element of luck involved.
You mentioned above about sharkscope, your sharkscope despite a slight down swing is really impressive, more so than many players on sky.
It might help to take that break you were talking about and come back afresh.
Whatever you decide all the best.
Nothing as frustrating as losing, or a losing spell, just unfortunatly it's an inevitable part of the game.
So much of poker is psychological and the biggest thing poker players struggle with.
Edit: I'm exactly the same, when things arnt going well it's so annoying. Despite the fact i know it's part of the game, and it really affects confidence. There was a really good HU player and he was going through a bad spell and i was pretty much saying what i've just said above. The next week i was having a bad time of it, and he ended up saying the exact same thing to me!
Also remember that you will suffer more bad beats than you inflict if you get your money in ahead more often than behind. Don't let a card game scr3w you up, best of luck whatever you do.

Hi omm,
Nice to know ypu liked the betting guide. Hopefully this helps.
1) No, not all bookies offer it. Sky are one of the ones that tend to avoid the asian handicap markets. You should be looking at another bookie that works 365 days of the year (:P)
2) Yes I believe they are available on different sports.
Then this happened as I was sat in second. I was tempted to dry shove and pick up like 10k (although aces would have called)... but i did the old trick - going broke in a limped pot. Doesnt stop it being uber sick.
Brutal sometimes.
Good luck with the rebuilding you'll soon turn it around.
1) This is something to note and remember for your dynamic with this player
2) This is something to note and remember for your dynamic with this player
3) This is something to note and remember for your dynamic with this player
4) Everyone has a right to sit and stand when they wish, you cannot control this.
5) Oh there was no 5. Just remember the big picture, player's are not robots and sometimes will be aggressive when other times they will be shrewd. Your job, and it's all on you not the oppo, is to decipher what time the player is at, what is their current mental state and what level they are playing on. Also this is something to note and remember for your dynamic with this player
You're saying he loved to 3bet any hand but you do not know if he is 3bet folding or 3/bet calling or 3/bet GII, that's the real question and your plan for each occurrence.
Enjoy the break.
There was some good advice on the show last night when i asked about buy ins for cash.
They basically said, if you want to take a shot take it.
It depends what the money means to you. A lot of folk on here will stick to rigid banroll management.
Just do what is right for you.
All the best
Got back in time to see Tommy take some of the jackpot money - very well done to him.
Played a few MTTs... the one I got going in, I was coolered with 11 left (6 paid). Standard stuff so wasnt too upset... but as there wasn't any other tournies I decided to play a bit of cash.... even though I told myself to stay away.
I played mastercash 50nl.
I changed my game A LOT in this session. Won't tell you exactly what I did as thats giving too much away of my style
Hands of note:
This one was just a gift... couldnt believe my luck when he flipped the cards over.
Didnt go into work today and found myself sitting on a cash table.
Either way... I think im getting the hang of this cash thing...
Master Cash 8 £128.85
Lesson: Go to bed when tired.
If anyone wants a chuckle feel free to check my Sharkscope.
Think I may save my money for UKOPS sats...
Variance has really kicked me in the nuts, hit me in the face and sh$t all over me this week. I can't seem to win any hand thats worth any decent money on cash (see poker clinic) and somehow im running even worse in tournaments.
Rebuy tonight. 3 before cash.
I.AM.DONE.
FINISHED.
FINITO.
END.
Unlucky.
