Looking over it, my main area of weakness in poker is MTTs.
I got some really good feedback over in the "MTT" thread in the poker clinic.
MTT's are fantastic and nothing (in poker) beats a good run in a tournie, final tabling, and going onto bring one down. I'm going to try and get some stats on how i have done in MTT's to date from when i started playing on sky, if any member of sharkscope would be kind enough to let me know lol
After 100 games it will give me a better idea if maybe tournies just arn't for me.
I'm going to use this thread to post up results, a public record of how i am doing, whether it's good or bad.
You just have to look at GaryQQQ, Pomfrittes, and many other low stake players, who consistantly win, which is down to their skill and ability at MTT's. At the end of this it would be nice to say I am a winning MTT player, that is the goal.

This thread will help me a lot too. Once i've played 100 games i will discontinue the thread (and hopefully still be playing them). Saying 100 games gives me a target to get 2.
Tonight, i'm going to start a thread, showing my live performance throughout a couple of MTTs, which will show how i play at different spells in the tournie, i'll just update it as i'm going along.

Here ya go Larson. You only need to be a member to do more specific searches. If you just want lifetime SnG stats, lifetime MTT stats, or the two combined, anyone can do that...
Henrik, just play the £3 & £5 timed MTTs, they are super low variance, & anyone with half a brain should be able to cash in 50%+....The only downside is you wont get a big score, but there v good for BR building if on a low budget...
Thread title suggests the objective is to improve, you can/should improve alot in 100 games if you're working hard at it. Just don't use the results alone to guage the level of improvement, look more at performance/understanding of concepts etc. Gd luck. Posted by DOHHHHHHH
/|\ This is good advice.
There are many ways to improve your MTT play - Not all of them will bring instant results, but put them all together and over time it will bring results.
I'll enjoy this thread. +1 to Dohhhhhhh about being wary about how you judge success. It's more about adjusting to what you should be doing at certain stages with certain stack sizes in certain positions with a particular stack size. A lot of good points and improvement will come in retrospect methinks. Don't forget your hand analysis. If you want to make consistent progress it will take some work. All the best....
best of luck, just be patient and don't get down on yourself if you don't get success straight away, it will take time, but from what i saw sharing a table with you last night, you should have no problems long term
Starting; 455 games played, Average ROI minus -21.8%, total minus £205.Thanks for that Lambert, very good of you mate.
I'm looking to improve at MTT's, performance and concepts, basically reducing mistakes improve on decision making, things like bet sizing/ maximising value from strong hands. If i can do this, it will hopefully show in results. If i can get to that, this will be really worthwhile.
Trev lol what are these ways! I'm left in suspense now haha
Boles, yeah it was good playing against you, enjoyed the monday game, couldn't believe the table we were at same 6 for about 2 hours lol
----------------------------------------
Update
Played my first 2 MTT's tonight, don't think i played terribley, didn't get much in the way of hands.
My first table had a maniac who was shoving every hand, the chat box was cracking up, but i was loving it just biding my time, then i got moved to another table lol
Ended up going out 38/103 and 66/116.
When i went out 38th, i shipped over a 3 x raise blinds at 75/150 with AQ, bit ambitious, but with blinds stack size was just looking for a double up. Got looked up by AK which held lol
All for a new section of the forum where all the diaries can live in harmony? I've got to say it was no surprise when the maniac didn't cash. Some of his calls in response to allins was er dubious to say the least.
BTW multi coloured posts are so last year Larson And minmum of font size 10 FTW.
3bet shipping with AQ over a 3x @ 75/150 is pretty standard if you've got under 20xBB, I deffo wouldn't think of that as a mistake, if they had AK this one time, meh unlucky
OK lol no more multi-colour unless i win a tournie.
Played a freeroll at 3, top 10 got a seat in a sat for upcoming SPT Event.
While i was playing was playing i had some HU games running two, which definatly helped me with concentration / alert.
Was playing really well and crushing the table early doors/ getting max value from hands. It was really easy to read situations, i didn't put a foot wrong. Having the HU games up definatly helped i would say.
At the HU Games i won 8, lost 6, which doesn't sound brilliant but i had a couple of bad beats, getting it in with the best hand and getting outdrawn.
With the freeroll game, i bubbled just before the bubble in 12th place. I was 11th in chips, so was really on the line, 1 double up and i could just sit back. I know it's not like a normal tornie, it would be Sat strategy.
The hand i exited on would be totally standard, but in a Sat (or tournie for a sat) i think i can just fold this and wait for a better spot. It's marginal (for a sat), just when a limper and BB to get through seemed like a good spot to shove. This is the exit hand.
The only other hand i really lost was AJ, versus pocket 8s, i min raised, short stack shoved, no way i can ever fold here. I hit jack he hits set.
Both deep stacks, i got bored and ended up doing my stacks quickly!
The first one i was kinda shortish, and shoved over the top of a min raise from the BB with 78suited, other guy called with A6 haha
In the other one, it was a BH, i min raised pre, 2 callers, including a shortie. Flop 9 high xx, shortie shipped for 1300, i re shipped, other player had pocket queens. Pretty bad lol
The first hour i was playing pretty good, i had doubled my starting stack pretty much on both tables, but went onto throw them away lol
Hand 1 is a totally sick call, the time bar was almost at 0.
Hand 2 whats opponent doing ? lol serioussly?
Hand 3, yeah prob a fold pre, opponent checks flop?? On the Turn yeah i think my KQ might be good here, have to call,
Hand 4, hate the min raise pre, i was trying to raise it more, but for some reason it just done a min min raise. Prob a fold, but hey ho
Hand 5, Worst hand of all! I needed to re raise the flop every day of the week. Knew the opponent was weak, pretty sure 3s were good here. I was overly worried about other oppo. This should have been a reraise.

Never marginal here it's a fold all day long. A limper is great in an MTT for value, but be very suspicious late in a Sat. You have to know your oppo to be confident they'll fold. You can afford to get much shorter than 11BB at the end of a Sat. Keep an eye on the other stacks. A lot of people make big mistakes at the end. A lot of he time you can sit tight and get it handed to you. Imagine a DYM on the bubble. Then multiply the nittyness factor by 10.
Mate you need patience, Im working my way up to play in spt Newcastle, with a bit of luck. Hope to sit there for 2 days......can you..? Posted by tomo_efc
Hey Tomo,
I know, you are spot on. I wasn't really enjoying it after 2 hours last night, was a bit tired. One of the tournies you were getting called by rediculous hands lol in the other tournie there was more folding than an oragami convention.
My attitude was bad last night getting "bored".
The longest i've ever played live was a game at the casino for 12 hours when i final tabled, and i was shattered by the end of it! I thought Newcastle was a 1 day event, but live is good fun so if i make it to day 2 happy days.
Played in a BH this morning, i got a min cash, but still a cash.

Was a really fun tournie, some of the play was unbelievable, people calling raises with 2 4 os, any 2 basically lol
One guy who was calling everything, and was winning everything early doors ended up knocking me out with 910 os against pocket kings lol
In these games i'll need to play ultra aggressive, treat TPGK as the nuts, as the lots of times it is in these games! Only really played 1 hand badly against a maniac, i shipped the turn with 2 pair (he was a caller) but folded i should have just set it up 2 shove the river, tho it was quite a wet board.

This might look like a terrible call, again guy is pretty loose, and will bluff here and can easily call down 2 streets really light, was only worried he had hut his king x to be honest.
