Nope, still can't figure who that -1 is.
Have a safe journey, Karen, & be great to see you return. Anywhere but here.
Summarising July, up to & including 9th August. P 777, W 452, L 325 = 58.2% games won. Total profit - £166.56 Profit per game = £0.21 Those numbers include £16 from the Rewards Freeroll, & £49.12 in Rewards Payments. So those bonuses came to £0.08 per game in total. Current balance = £2,083.99 Posted by Tikay10
I lost my way a bit with updating my numbers, think then above was the last Update.
I'll try & get it updated until yesterday, which was the last day of August.
It's not pretty reading - I lost money in August, which is only the 2nd or 3rd time since I started this I've lost money in a month. Pfft.
After Vegas, I initially went on a heater, & won over £200. Then came the freezer, & I lost most of it back. I have all the daily data, so I'll try & make some sense of it. I'm not actually sure why I hit this bad patch. It's so easy to blame variance. I am convinced my ranges are good, but at the sharp end, I deffo need to widen them considerably. Something is not right, though, I need to do better than this. Posted by Tikay10
I'm still unsure what went wrong in August, but I'm starting to think it was my old friend, lack of concentration. Sometimes, I seem to drift off & go onto auto-pilot, so I've been very strict in September, no surfing the internet, no you tube vids, no watching stuff on Sky Go.
Also, not posting daily or weekly updates never helped - when trying to hit targets or goals, they really help.
So, look away now, reams of boring numbers to follow. Eyes will glaze over......
Great numbers there Mr K In a firm believer that over 60% win rate at Dyms is what we should be striving for Posted by Jac35
Thanks GP.
I've always aimed for 60%, but rarely been able to sustain it. August was horrible, so I looked at my game, changed a few things, especially at the sharp end, but mainly just concentrated much harder.
I ran bad in the £5.50 games, but ran well in the £11 games, so that sort of balances out.
The test now is to see if I can keep these numbers up. 63% is not sustainable (for me) but I'm going to try for 60%.
Don't forget, Double Points weekend this weekend, too.
Traffic seemed very quiet some nights, which did not help, as I need plenty of games going - 5 or 6 at once ideally - to keep my concentration from wandering.
Sigh, there goes my quiet month of poker. I'll feel compelled to play and over the weekend 3000 points should be reasonably comfortable. If I get that then I'll feel compelled to push on for priority again.
Traffic is light at the moment. Time of year as we all know. Do you ever consider throwing in some nl Dyms to take you up to the 5 or 6 games? I know that no limit is not your game of choice these days but it may help with the concentration

Yes, I think about it every day. And here's my dilemma.
When I first started playing DYM's here, back in 2008, I was playing NLH DYM's & soon ran up a £450 profit.
For whatever reason, I went from £450 profit, to over £700 loss, in short order. I moved up to £33, £55 & £110p, & guys like JingleMa, GliterBabe, mud66 took me apart, so I quit.
It was a while before I found PLO8 DYM's as I game I had a chance of beating, or at least break even, so I get my poker "fix" for free, so I've stuck with them ever since.
A NLH DYM is part knowledge of the format (NLH, PLO, PLO8) & part understanding DYM strategy, which is the same for all three. I wonder what the "proportion" of those two basics is?
I do get a little envious of the NLH boys on Double Points weekends, for example, you can't 'arf rack up some points.
I'm tempted, but the memory of knocking it in left a scar.
What about a mixed comp, 3 holdem dyms specialist v 3 plo08 specialist. Jac picks 2 partners in crime and tikay picks his 2. Holdem 3 come and play a series of hilo and vice versa. Run it over an agreed amount of games, would be good fun, and might generate a bit more interest.
My ultimate hilo team Tikay, Gerarldirl, Footie66
MY ultimate holdem team jac35, Timmyrara, Stuarty117.
Just an example above but you get the picture, could tweek it whatever way works but would be nice to mix both forms for nothing else but a bit of fun.

I anti-celebrated another birthday on Thursday. Had a blissfully quiet day - perfect.
We are moving office this weekend, my 11th office move since I've been here.
Poker has been good - so far - this week, & I'm on about 62%. Don't worry though, I can deffo ruin that over the weekend.
Had a bizarre session on Wednesday, win 21 from 25, it was incred. And that was despite losing the very last game when my flopped aces full were bested by flopped quads.
It was such a surreal session. In PLO & PLo8, we get aces a LOT. I'd not hazard a guess at how many times we get aces in a 25 game session, but I bet it's north of 50, maybe even 75. And we lose with Aces a lot, too - Aces are only marginal favs in PLO/8, unlike NLH where they are generally 80% to win. And I never lost with Aces that night once. I folded them a few times, yes - we fold aces a lot in PLO8 (or should) but it was just one of those nights when all my hands held up.
If I have "high only" Aces, & the flop comes low-low low, I just fold them, we are playing to chop at best, so it's not worth risking our stack.
Been some really lairy new opponents this week, too. These guys, "any 4 cards", can be a right handful, & I've been given a few black eyes, but they are huge fun to play. The more the merrier, imo.
Double Points this weekend, so big sessions planned today & tomorrow. I am on around 62% of games won this week, & £105 profit. Now watch me do the lot chasing double points.......
Rugby World Cup, starts, US Open Tennis finals, Man U v Liverpool, & the NFL season starts properly tomorrow. Lovely job.
Hi Tikay I enjoyed the games and hopefully I am learning something by donating all this money. It wasn't too bad really. I think I won 4/8 or 4/9. I might be dangerous when I know what I'm doing. One thing I must eliminate is calling to hopefully win 1/2 the pot and ending up with nothing or 1/4. CRAZY. Playable hands is another, (hi hands only, etc) although I am looking at you regs and gathering info that way. Feel free to give more constructive criticism. I will return. Good luck. Morning dragon - been great to see you playing a lot more PLO8.
Not sure if your question is serious - I've not especially watched you, but you seem extremely competent to me, & you are one of those players I try to avoid tangling with if I can help it - you seem to have your ranges perfectly sorted. (Don't ask about last night, I had a shocker....). You even have a yellow colour code in my notes. Very few have "yellow".
You'll make plenty of money in these, & you'll find them far easier than the NLH versions. The only problem is there are - as yet - not enough £11 games running. Once they get popular, you'll make a bomb.
Why do so many players call for half the pot, risking their entire stack to do so? Search me, one of THE great mysteries of PLO8. Still, it's where much of our profit arises, so I'm not going to complain.
It's a very simple piece of logic, which most can't seem to grasp - if we keep calling for half the pot (with the low mostly), we are getting freerolled every time. Over the long term, we are GUARANTEED to lose money.
Players go abso nuts if their £2.30 token or cash does not arrive from Sky every week, then call down for their entire stack in a fiver DYM hoping to get half of the pot back. Go figure. As the champ (AJMilton) says, "you do the math".
Hope to see you tonight. Hopefully I'll play a little better tonight.
I have a great excuse for last night, mind. Whilst playing, I fired up Catch Up TV & was watching The Last Night Of The Proms. If there was ever an occasion to fill the heart with joy, it's that. Love it to bits, & I well up every year.
And did those feet in ancient time Walk upon England's mountains green La lala la, la la lala.

house over house in that £10 game- what was I thinking.....you ALWAYS have it ;-)))
I shall elaborate.
His hand included J-J, & mine included A-A. My Aces were bad aces, so I had not raised pre. Early doors (this was Level 1 or 2) I generally take a flop & let go if I don't improve when I have bad aces.
And pardon the cliché which makes me instantly fall asleep evert time I read it, but the flop came....
A-J-x.
No escape sir, no escape. Brutal stuff.
It was the only £11er than ran all evening. I played 49 games, & just one, solitary, £11er. I really concentrate in those babies.
So, with the unfortunate demise of you & one other, 4 of us left, two of them were quite clearly complete newbies to PLO8 (they looked like NLH players having their first PLO8 dabble to me), and I have 4,000 chips.
How could I possibly lose?
The answer is "I don't know", but I did. Don't think I did a thing wrong, either. Just one of those games. Hey-ho.

I would be happy to do something like this. I like my team as it is. No need for tweaking imo. I think Timmy and Stuarty would be up for it.
Losers could maybe donate a little to charity each?
I cant remember the exact order of action, but I think you led into me and I levelled myself into believing you were stabbing at the pot with the other side of your limping range, silly me, the last time you tried to steal a pot before level 6 the Berlin wall was still intact (what grade of cement would that have been built with ;-))
Dragon
I have shared a few tables with you recently and great fun they have been.
I didn't realise you were fairly new to the format; your ranges are so solid, I just assumed you were back after some form of lay off.

My limping range is extremely narrow - Aces, or A-2 with a suited ace.
When I limp/pot/pot, I've got it. Always.
One regular chap ALWAYS calls me, every single time. I must have busted him hundreds of times. And he always then says "yes, of course, Sky is so fixed". I never respond, but I do think "well stop calling me when I pot pot pot". But still he calls, every time. It's a shame in some ways, I'd like to help him, but he's convinced something is amiss. For starters, learn the difference in power between betting & calling.

That was the one I was hoping for.....I dont think we got past the flop, I think I repotted after you and it all went in, but memory is hazy ;-)).
PS I had a lovely picture of the Queen in a steam train crossing a brand new concrete bridge about 1/2 a mile from my house, took it at last weeks opening of the borders railway.
