Cheaper games = higher variance players
Bigger games = more decision making needed.

    IMHO

Hi Geldy, thanks for your input

Of course that makes sense, however
PLO8 has a very limited number of players on here.
Some of the winning players at £3 or maybe £5 will not play £11.
So my question was really about who is filling the £11 if it is not the winning regs (and Tikay).

I don't really believe £11 games to be easier, I was just curious.

Not played this week, been a bit utw, but I may play a mini-session after tonight's England v Fiji World Cup opener, & again tomorrow & Sunday.

So, before I get in a muddle with my numbers, I'd best post the numbers from last week. Variance was in fine form, let me tell you. What a fickle lady she is. Some "best" & "worst" sessions last week. Just when you think you've cracked the game, along comes Dame Fickle, smoking a pipe.

Hope you're ok Mr K, wonder why you consider variance to be a lady? (I see variance as a mean grumpy old man!)

Enjoy the game, hopefully see you at the tables later

So, all in all, not a good week. As of c-o-b Thursday, I was heading for 60% of games won, & some very respectable profits, but the wheels came off over Friday, Saturday, &, especially, Sunday. No idea how I lost 5 of 6 @ £11 on Sunday, but then I have no idea how I did so stunningly well on Wednesday & Thursday.

In the end, I was pleased to escape with a profit, albeit a small one.

The bankroll stands at £2,161.39, & the battle to hold above £2,200 continues.

Loved every minute of it though.

Might pop in later this evening for an hour or two, & again over the weekend.

Enjoy your weekend, whatever your plans are.

Barely played last week, just 22 games, of which I managed to win just 11.

This week? Don't ask, am getting beaten up left right & centre, Monday in particular, winning just 10 from 26. Ugh. Run bad, play bad, bad bad, bleurgh. Enjoying the struggle though, there is something quite satisfying when it is all uphill & into the wind.

Anyway, the reason I posted today was to give a bit of encouragement to a special mate of mine, "mmmchips".

This guy is the greatest, & might just be the most witty, & to see him toy with the trolls, in particular the resident PLO8 troll, is incred.

Right now, he can't win a race to save his life, bear after beat is getting inflicted on him, but he takes it all like a grown up should.

Chin up Mr mmm, it'll turn soon enough.

I'd better post last week's numbers, before I get in a muddle.

Nothing much, just three small sessions, but it all has to be recorded.

My Mother used to say "It's not about the quantity, it's about the quality".............

Or....at least she used to, until I bought her one daffodil for mothers day instead of a bunch of them :)

My ears are still ringing now from that clip round the ear :)

    Thanks guys.

I was AWOL on Friday & Saturday, but I think I'll have a session tonight & try & repair a bit of the damage.

As it stands (this week, 4 sessions) I am.....

    P113, W57, L56 (a shade over 50%) for a loss of around £53.

Be a miracle to get out of that hole, but if I can reduce the deficit, I'll feel better. It's Double Points too, so I may pick up some extra Rewards Money. Every little helps.......

Belated update of last week's truly horrible numbers to follow.

Think I have to be pleased, in a weird way, I was £58 in the hole after the first day, & ended up £34 down, so at least there was a mini recovery.

Just 5 games ran at £11 last week on the 5 nights I played. Maybe just as well, might have lost even more......
  • edited September 2015

    £3.30, P81, W43, win rate = 53%

    £5.50, P 57, W30, win rate = 53%

    £11,  P5, W2, win rate = 40%

    TOTAL, P143, W75, win rate =
     52%

    LOSS ON WEEK = £34.71
  • edited September 2015

Pretty consistent, then, with 55% being break even, I lost money at every level.

No excuses, one of those weeks. I only won 10 from 26 on Monday, & dropped £47.50, so it was all about damage limitation, & we pulled a bit back, with the last 2 days both being small winners. Hit the hat trick last night (Monday) getting this week off to a much better start, winning 63% for £15.80 profit.

Enjoying it immensely at the moment, despite a few weeks bad numbers, & the long term graph remains steadily positive.

It's a real challenge to not have the occasional bad session though, where a week's numbers gets destroyed by one bad session.

    The battle continues.......

Been a bit of a battle for me recently too.
I don't know if my mind has been elsewhere lately, as I have recently been looking for a full time job.
Got an email on Friday morning to attend an interview at 1pm (short notice) !
Anyway I attended the interview , which lasted for an hour and a half.
To put things in perspective this was only my 2nd job interview in 25 years having spent that time in my last company.
Got the confirmation email Friday night that I had been offered the job!!!
Start on Oct 5th gl me.

Lots of learning to be done as its a completely different industry, so poker may take a back seat for a while.

Im not saying the standard is great but there is no doubt its tough to win at these and there certainly are some good players. Im available for coaching should you want any Tikay, lmao....only kidding.

Do you think you should take more chances early on perhaps? Is it high priority to get the chips from a weaker player before someone else does?

Im not qualified to give you proper advice but I wonder do you ammend you approach depending on your opponent?
