If you're going to get beat, get beat in style. My eyes were alight with aspirations of winning DTD1 at the point all the chips went in and I'd have taken the chip lead. Probably best I didn't though, Stewie7 was a much more worthy Outlaw winner!! Yesterday was one of those odd sessions where I started like an absolute steam-train but somehow inexplicably still ended up an NL20 buy in down by the time I gave up for the night. Perhaps positive tilt gets the better of me when I'm not scrapping to make up losing 50-100bb during the first half hour's play in a day?
3 remains my lucky number. This guy had been aggro in the first couple of orbits... took all my will power to keep checking though, 99% of the time I bottle it and bet/raise before the river irrespective of how convinced I am that the oppo will bet.
I was marginally the wrong side of the cooler spots (which I'm not going to waste time posting), but I kind of feel like I should be finding a way to get away from some/all of these marginal(ish) spots?
The final AQ call was a part-misclick in that I didn't see the second guy call, I thought I was just calling the donk-lead and could be good with TPQK.

Wish I had this problem
Anyway, new month sooneth... time for beers, and more beers
Two fun hands from the weekend that will have to be described as range-merging for meta-game purposes or something else that I am blatantly not sufficiently skilled to know about, understand, or use
The first one with a reg vs me - totally did the job of confusing me... possibly should bet the river and figure that I no longer need to fear a flopped straight and am much more likely to have a chance of being called by a 2pr hand?
Then getting 'creative' myself vs another reg with one of my lucky hands... which combined with my general luckboxness was sufficient to bink...
FWIW I've probably 3-bet IP vs this person too frequently over the last month or so, which meant I thought there was slightly more 4-bets coming back at me (although tbf they were probably all with legit hands and I was only imagining any increase in 4-bets), and therefore figured I'd see a flop in position and look to flop something I could realistically represent (or just flop effectively the nuts for this particular hand lol).
I can't imagine this will be a regular part of my 3-bet range...
In truth my luckboxness must have been entirely restored over the weekend as I more than doubled monies made through the rest of February... with 5,399 pts failing dismally to reach the 10k I sort-of-hoped for right at the start of the month, but easily beat the revised 5,000 target.
I suppose now I need to find some articles and videos that can help improve my satellite game... because who doesn't want to make a run at blagging a free trip to Vegas
If anyone still reads this, any recommendations on that front will be welcomed!
Should Hypeting be forum stalking, this is the hand you asked about posting last night.
As context, the guy that 3 bet me was raising me literally every single time I had money in the pot - every time I was in the blinds he raised, every time I opened he raised, the time I tried limping he raised.
In hindsight I probably should have just called more, rather than try to fight fire with fire, but as the 3b was called I thought it was time for a 4-bet.
Wouldn't have been entirely surprised if the initial 3-bettor had shoved, but the other move surprised me. Don't know if he had it or if it was a great play identifying that I was probably starting to play back light but WP him either way.
Was a fun table but I definitely came off worse yesterday lol
Thankfully February is over so that made it easy to make the decision to bin off the poker and go to the pub instead.
That in turn made me consider whether I need to train to become a quantity surveyor. Turns out the money thrown at people with that skill is getting pretty obscene. I'm a tad jealous.
Poker should be easy this weekend if I play. I have an enforced tilt-room opportunity to destress after buying a half-axe/half-sledgehammer to smash a hole for a stove to be installed. I think it will actually be to my benefit to suffer an horrific badbeat some time around Saturday lunchtime....
Re hand above, flatting is much better than 4-betting. KJs plays well postflop and dominates some of villains 3-bet bluffing range. Your 4-bet bluffing candidates here want to be hands that don't flop great but have decent blockers. A10o etc.

Having given up for the weekend due to playing terrible / smashed up so much wall I had nothing left to downplay my tilt with, I found myself accompanying beer with 1-table of PLO on Sunday evening.
Still somewhat bemused by the game if I'm honest. Sort of get the basics that I have to use 2 cards from 4 etc but beyond that it often feels like button clicking.
I did come away with a few quid, but mostly thanks to this hand which I'm pretty certain was played appallingly.
'Proper' live poker duck finally broken... fake-SPT was awesome and very much look forward to the next.
In a few more games time I might not spend most of my time paranoid about doing something wrong: acting our of turn, flicking in the wrong denomination chip, saying something when we're meant to be silent etc... am sure it gets even better when you can play as relaxed as when lounged out in an armchair with a computer on your lap!
Still need to work on concentration too... one table and 20-odd hands an hour makes me feel like I have full blown ADHD... I find it tough enough to stay switched on for the rare times I make it into hour 2 or any of the Monday night DTD games
Not the easiest of table spots... one guy two to my left was just battering me till the first break... he was clearly the best player at the table but I was totally oblivious until much later that Ian Simpson is actually top 100 on the UK all-time-money list... so again, probably ran good in giving up trying to play pots with him. Decent bloke as well, hope he carries on the good form... saw he's in the VLV final here so could be playing in Sky colours imminently!
I figure to have made some horrifically bad plays, but thankfully run as golden live as a I do online... bar the first and last hands of the day... although the first was probably lucky that I played it so weakly?
UTG raised... I joined in the callers with 88 (heart rate about 60bpm)...
5 of us see a T85 flop (heart rate about 90bpm).... utg c-bets, I'm the only caller
T on the turn (heart rate about 120bpm).... utg bets again... I probably should flick a raise in here to build a pot(?) but call
A on the river (heart - sank).... utg bets about 1/3 pot... I stare at ceiling and try to avoid cursing out loud... too much of a fish to fold a FH but had then punted off nearly half my stack in the first hand when the inevitable AA is shown
I'm pretty sure live poker is rigged
Was great to meet with the various Outlaws that were there, all as equally bonkers in real life as their online persona which was a bonus!
Particular amused at witnessing Harry's life whizz before his eyes as a Sam-CraigCU torpedo flew towards him late on Saturday. True Outlaw professional though, managed to suffer the minimum beer-loss with superb pint control.
Anyway... roll on the next fake-SPT/other live chances... now back to trying to bink a few quid at cash tables after coming home to a £3k invoice

Hey Mike Know you have mentioned p/ vpip a few times and their videos. Did they ever look at any of your play? Posted by LARSON7
Hi Kev - yep there is a half hour taken in late 2014... the quality was appalling on windows (video kept stopping and needs a LOT of patience to view) but works fine on mac
Hope to chuck another in to the mix shortly, when I find my cajones and take a proper shot at NL50 and see how well (or badly lol) the first 4-tabling effort goes.

lol I'm not even in the same ballpark as Jimmy... In fact I doubt I was even in the top 3 for facial fuzz this weekend... may be time to stop trying to copy my old man and get shorn.
And on a side note, don't forget to go and get Jimmy fully signed up to the Outlaws
After passing the year mark, figured I'd head back to the first post:
Base Targets next 12 months: Maintain sharkscope +ve Be in profit from cash! Earn a minimum of 500pts poker rewards from cash every month Have meaningful notes on 80% of players at NL8/10 Mix at least an hour of non-playing poker study in with every week of playing Seek a way to get more involved with better players that can drag my game on, be that formal coaching or ??? Not partaking in any other Sky Vegas-style gambling Update this thing at least once for every week I play... especially when I'm getting beaten up at the tables
Stretch Targets: Make at least £1k profit Earn at least 1k poker points from cash each month Win a main or mini (once bankroll gets big enough!) Have my toe dipped in the NL20 waters or above Getting a hand shown on ch861 where I pull off a ridic three-barrel bluff that somehow gets through Posted by shakinaces
Not the worst effort... only completely failed in the mains (from the 2 times I entered lol) and by the only hands that made it on to 861 (RIP) being those where I totally butchered a hand but luckboxed the win (standard luckbox Shaky play lol)
My MTT play remains particularly appalling so I don't envisage there will be much more ME playing (let alone cashing) in the year ahead either.
Didn't exactly excel in some bits either which is a bit disappointing... I mean, I finally found a team on Sky that seemed like a good idea to join, and it has been, whatever negative nonsense and snidey comments others may post, OUTLAWS FTW, pokerz have been way more fun since joining... but not sure they are exactly the high quality 'better players' I initially meant when I first posted this
Oddly would be most proud that I may finally be besting the degen gambling. Not that I haven't donked off way too much over the year 75 days and counting since the last donk though... hopefully this is now the 'One Time'.
Just need another 9-10 future years winning as much at poker as I have in the last 12 months in order to have (give or take) off-set the degen losses of the previous 9-10 years.
Must be a slowish work day. Thought I'd add some more junk to the boards to waste a few minutes.
In Response to Re: a fish en route to NL20: Forest will either storm the Championship or utterly self-implode this season. I guess either way it's going to be exciting!! May break the habit of a lifetime and actually have a cheeky ante post punt on us winning the title / Assombalonga for top scorer... Posted by shakinaces
I guess I got that bit right back in August then The Assombalonga bet was looking alright even as we started to nosedive, but my habit of boking any striker I back to top score appears to still exist. I know not to even consider backing any of our players next season.
Not that we'll have many players next year anyway. Stupid financial fair play nonsense. Will be a reasonable job just to bounce along mid-table and clear of relegation.
In Response to Re: a fish en route to NL20: 1st day of the season is always so good, every fan in the country can harbour some degree of positive expectation while they are joint top of the table. Except maybe Swindon fans. They much prefer year-round pessimism. Looked at the odds this morning. Genuinely surprised that Derby are priced up as favourites. I hope they will be there or thereabouts, albeit behind Forest, but that does seem an odd choice by the bookies. Still, what do I know. Posted by shakinaces
At least I got that bit right... well done Brentford
And I get to glory chase over the next couple of weeks as a part-time Swindon fan. Unlike Forest they actually have an OK play-off record, so hopefully I watch us hammer Son of Clough's lot next Monday. The current side should appreciate the big Wembley pitch and I'm certain they'll do better than the last two trips there.
TBF I don't recall posting words to that effect, but I didn't run great through April. Well overdue.
MrsDuck forced me to ignore nittiness and play my first ever £33BH game at the weekend.
I may be missing something, but I thought the standard was pretty weak... but maybe limping in tournaments is much more of a 'thing' these days?
Didn't really matter though, was sailing along nicely only to run KK into AA then four hands later run KK into AA, before being incapable of spinning up the 1BB I was left with.
If the limping isn't a 'thing' though, I think I could grow to do OK in those games if my head's right.
It's been less poker/couching/take-aways (because the 5 min window is way too small to cook, but just right to pay a pizza delivery guy)
More gym / cooking healthy grub.
I'm pretty sure I'd overtaken the previous incumbent to possess the largest moob cup size in the Outlaw team and that isn't a record I want.
Think I finally have the willpower that has been lacking since the endless football-related injuries. I'm about 4st heavier than when I used to run a bit more competitively alongside the football.
Should get rid of at least 1/4 of that excess bulk before MK fake-SPT. Get myself returned to no bigger than an A-cup.
Pretty sure my poker will improve as well. Healthy body, healthy mind and all that.
A fair assertion after putting the poker + 5 minute window to cook to the test last night.
30 mins was closer to the truth. Totally missed donking Giant out of DTD, didn't even see the names at my table to be honest, just shoved whenever I saw decent cards.
Still can't shake off the poker gremlins. Probably mucking about with my way of playing too much to over-compensate, but hard to keep doing the same old things when all the big pots are heading the other way, even if the same old things are the correct way to play hands. Stupid game anyway.
Not as stupid as football though.
I didn't think I'd see a game as daft as the Forest v Yeovil 2nd leg play-off game from a few years back, but Swindon blew that away with their 5-5 last night. I was only there as a total glory chaser but the atmosphere, WOW. Normally feels like I'm just punishing myself at Town games but the place was insane yesterday. If tickets were always that cheap and the entertainment so good then I'd probably go more than I do to Forest.
Looking forward to a bit more glory chasing and all day liver-bashing at Wembley in a week and a bit
Hopefully the luck returns imminently. If I ever get back from the gym in time I want to play more of the big boy's (and girl's) BH games. Never seems much point jumping in 45-60 mins into late reg... I'm an underdog from the start, it'll be even worse if I'm starting as the shorty that everyone is targeting!
See you at wemberleee then :-) Hoping for a similar defensive performance in the final Posted by Phantom66
Ha yeah I think this will be a goal-fest if Swindon are to stand a chance. I'd be willing to punt a good chunk of my poker monies that they won't keep a clean sheet.
Foderingham is a quality keeper mind, so if he is on form then maybe goals against can be limited to 2-3
Preston front 2 of Beckford and Garner is too good for league 1. Has Garner matured now and stopped getting booked every single game? If he could have kept his head screwed on he could have been a really decent player for Forest... the glimpses of genius and handful of wonder goals he scored made it so frustrating that he couldn't find it in him to knuckle down and play like that week in, week out.

Ha nobody can come close to Super Mario... the only disappointment while at Liverpool has been the lack of bizarre stories that we got treated to during his time at City! (because there has been no disappointment at all in seeing Liverpool bumble along all season and miss out on CL...)

I hope they will be there or thereabouts, albeit behind Forest, but that does seem an odd choice by the bookies. Still, what do I know.

True

Will have to stick to no poker to after 9ish...
Suppose I'd better go and do a bit more work now!
Oooohhh Balotelli, he's a striker, good at darts......
